Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello Texans, Welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Mark Vandermere and John Harris with you a summer program
that means we're gonna let lose tonight. That means your normal,
tight fitted, well rehearsed program will not exist tonight. We're
just gonna stream of consciousness this thing. Jonathan Alexander usually
joins us on Tuesday, but he's out fooling around doing
summer stuff. I don't know what he's doing. He's traveling,
he's doing something. But everybody's getting ready for a training camp.
(00:24):
And by getting ready, I mean, you know the mental
break necessary, Johnny, the calm before the storm, that's right.
You know, you get into training camp and I think
the casual fan obviously, well, let's go here, because the
casual fans not listening to this show. The diehard fan
does pay attention to training camp. Yet you know that
nothing's going to play for real until September, right, But
(00:46):
you want to know how it's going, how's the progress
of the offensive line, the running backs, how they look
at is CJ is still looking as good as he
did in OTAs or Mini camp as he threw in
mini camp?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Is that all happening a quarter to the.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Way I wanted to happen as we embark on the
twenty twenty five campaign. I got some things to get
into tonight, because we've come a long way, baby, Johnny.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
We've come a long way, and I'm going.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
To get into this how far we've come. We still
have some distance to go, but we've come a long way.
But I know you're watching Quarterback, which is out on Netflix.
How's that going so far? Because you people don't know
this about John Harris. You not only know everything about football,
pro and college, and you probably have most of your
board done for the draft in twenty twenty six for
(01:31):
an early version of it. Anyway, but Johnny knows every
reality show. He could break those down for you. I
was telling my kid he could probably do a Premier
league summer off season needs analysis for you if you
needed him too, and a whole bunch of other stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
How's the NBA off season going?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
But anyway, you also know everything about TV and you
are watching Quarterback?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
It just released last night, I believe on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, today was the day July eighth, So went up
and uh, oh tonight that today's the Today's today.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
So I happened.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I was reminded I saw on ax for Twitter. Netflix
Sports has a Twitter account. Somebody reposted it and was
Joe Burrow talking about fossils, and I was like, oh, yeah,
quarterbacks out someone watched. It's a pretty compelling trio of
Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins, especially for what
happens in twenty twenty four. Burrow comes back off the injury,
(02:26):
they start horribly, make the run late. Goff has the
great run throughout the season, and then get commanded in
the divisional playoff. And then you've got Kirk Cousins, who
ghost Atlanta signs the four year, one hundred and eighty
million hour deal, and then they draft Michael Pennix and
they they ask him about it, and he you could
(02:48):
tell he wants to say more than he said, oh,
especially because he still remember the Falcons. But he's like,
I just wish I would have known, because if the
Falcons had been thinking about that, I would have just
stayed minsised it might have been a one year He
was alluding to the fact that Minnesota didn't offer him
much in the way of longevity staying there security, so
(03:09):
it sounded like there was maybe a one year deal,
maybe a two year deal something that he thought it
would have been longer.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
But because of the Achilles.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
So he's like, if I hadn't known they were going
to draft the quarterback, I already knew Minnesota was drafted
a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I just stay in Minnesota exactly.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
But he didn't know, but they didn't tell him that,
and all of a sudden he goes Dan Lanta and
now he gets stuck with Michael Pennix behind him, and
he's there and still there. So I think, in some sense,
I think the Falcons are sitting on a little bit
of an asset for somebody. There's gonna be a good
team that has a quarterback that is going to miss
some time yep, maybe a whole season yep, and they're
(03:46):
gonna call up and say, hey, what would it take
to get Kurt.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
We'll give him second rounder.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Well, yeah, they'll take a lot less, I think, because
they just want to get out from under the contract,
especially if it's going well for Pennix. Right right, if
Pentis gets off to a hot start and there's something
like five and two quarterback goes down, right now, you
need to trade or you're invited to trade cousins. You'll
take less, maybe knowing that the contract is fine for
(04:11):
you and they'll take that off your hands. But I
would say it's at least a three, maybe a two.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Yeah, And it's pretty interesting because two of the three
I know the quarterback coaches fairly decently. Mark Brunell is
the quarterback coach for the Lions, Okay, and he's awesome.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I think for Jared Goff, I think both.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Former head coaches at Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, you
and Mark Burnell.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, me and Mark Burnell and Brunell. I think it's
perfect for Jared Goff. And the golf story. We haven't
gotten to the Texans game, but they're in a groove.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
They're in a real groove. But he tells the whole
story about.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
How he got traded from the Rams and kind of
what he was going through personally with all that, and
he said he was really kind of down and it
dumps about it, and then he kept getting his call
from an unlisted number or an unknown number. He's like pat,
he kept sending it to voicemail, and finally his agent
called said, hey, that's Brett Holmes, and brat Holmes had
been with the rams in the scouting department.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
So Goff knew of him, and so Brat Holmes.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
And we've seen Holmes if you've watched it in the lines,
behind the scene stuff you see homes. He is really excitable,
very you know, positive guy. And then there's Dan Campbell,
who we all know from obviously these days at A
and M and just what we've seen of him and bite,
knee caps and all that.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Well, they call him and they're like, we are so
excited to have gotten you, and we love you. You're
the best.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
You're gonna come here and you're gonna make this opportunity
of your own. You're our quarterback. You're our guy. And
Goff said that made all the difference in the world
for him. Wow, since the beginning, they've been telling him,
you're our guy. And even for the first couple of years,
I remember a lot of people were like, well, you know,
who's going to go in there and be the quarterback
in Detroit? Who's going to be the quarterback in Detroit?
And you look up and you're like, Jared Goff's going
to be.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
The quarterback in not knowing questions and now nobody is,
you know, and you look back and you go.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Man, the Lions got golf and the Rams first round picks.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
You picked up on a subtlety there, though, Brad Holmes,
who's forty five now, okay, so he's calling golf golf
doesn't pick up?
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Right? Do you call anybody anymore? If they if you.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Know, they might not have your number stored and probably
don't give you text first. Hey, person, it's Mark Vandermier
from the Texans. Or if I don't have to say
from the Texans, Hey, I just wanted to know if
you wanted to talk blah blah blah whatever. Right, don't
you send a trial text to start the communication and
then you schedule a call within a certain window or something.
(06:38):
If I just call out of the blue, I don't
expect anybody to pick up either.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Either seven one three numbers call me.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I'm like, I don't know about this, and occasionally I
will pick up if I'm not doing anything that important,
I might. Let's just have a little test here, and
invariably it's hello, would you.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Like to know? Oh my gosh, here we go. No,
I don't call anybody. I don't call anybody.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Unless I have If of a name pops up, I'll
answer if a number pops up, like if it's the board.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
And you just put it in voicemail or you'll text
on text. Yeah, and then we could set up a
time to talk. I'm I'm absolutely that way. But yeah,
he wouldn't he God said he got like six or
seven phone calls and not picking up, not picking up right,
Text him next next time, next him.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
First, it's been it's been. Uh, it's been really good.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
But you know on the on the Cousin's side, you
know whose quarterback coach is in Atlanta, TJ. J.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yates.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, so there there's a point where they beat Week four.
Last year, the Falcons are one and two. I believe
they beat the Saints on a late Young Way whup
field goal from fifty eight. He pulled a kaimi. He
nailed it from fifty eight to beat the Saints. But
Cousins wasn't happy about the way he played, and so
(07:52):
on the way home, he apparently this is somebody you
picked up from Peyton Manning. He said that he got
his phone and he doesn't call the guys.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
He sends voice memos.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
So he talks and he does this long voice memo
about all these different things. He sends one to Zach Robinson,
the offensive coordinator. He sent one to Zach and TJ
send it every one to TJ. And then he send
another one to his receivers talking about certain things. And
he just on the way home, he just all these
different voice memos that he just hey, I haven't watched
the film, but you know, hey, on that route in
the third quarter when I really wanted to just sit down,
(08:24):
you know, that's something really got to work on it, and
he just sicks, I can put that ball round. Like
he goes through all of this in these voice memos,
which I think is is kind of fascinating because they're
still you still have the game grinding in your mind.
Everybody does, I mean you and I do. I mean
there have been times where you know, we'll call each other.
Supposedly when I got bad in twenty one to twenty two,
we would call each other about certain things.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Or happen all that.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
But he has all these different voice memos and he
just records them all and sends them off, and before
he gets home, he's he's made his communication with these
particular people that are on his team, whether it's coaches,
whether it's players or his staff.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
So it's a good way to fascinate. It's a good
way exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
And this is another thing that that really applies to everybody.
It's good unless you're a little too hot, all right,
don't send a hot voicemail. And now this is not
a voicemail, it's a voice communication demo. Yeah, but same
kind of thing here where.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
You read the wrong route. You know, you don't want
to be like that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
You want to be like okay, And I think he
does because I overheard you listening to that when I
was setting things up here, and I do believe that
that's the right way to go about it, calmly, because
never send an angry voicemail.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
You send an angry voicemail, that voicemail.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Is going to live forever in that person's phone, and
they can always pull it up and listen to your
anger long after your anger is gone, and that will
make them angry at any point they listen to it.
So be careful with angry voicemails, angry texts, angry emails.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
I've learned this the hard way. Boys and girls. Rewritten.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yes, anything written, anything that could be recorded in any way, right,
if it's live, it dissipates. Okay, yeah, it came out,
but at least it goes away kind of. You know,
if you haven't recorded, either written or voice recorded, well
that's that could be cherished forever. And by cherished, I
mean really used to aggravate people. I'm seventeen years after
(10:22):
exploding them about a Texans draft pick, and.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
There's there's a record but written it's it would have
had I written something like that, like I said, it
probably would have still been floating around there. And you know,
somebody's got to go find the podcast. I don't even
know if it exists at this point, but Dwayne heard it.
It's all that's all I needed. Booy squatch it. So anyways,
to that, to that end this, I think it's gonna
(10:45):
be a really good It's gonna be good.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
To watch all that's going on.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
They addressed Joe Burrow's house being broken into in December. Okay,
they apparently addressed that the one, the one quoted piece
I've heard about. He was relatively upset, but I don't
blame him. He should have been. But I think Burrow's
gonna come out of here. I think Burrow's gonna come
out of this looking like a star. I think golf
(11:12):
is gonna be I think people were gonna.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Like, yeah, I like Jared Goff, and like that's the feeling,
like I like Jared Goff.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Okay, you know it's not gonna be like, oh, he's
my favorite player. But I think people are gonna walk
out of there thinking I like Jered Goff.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I mean, that's kind of the way I feel about him.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
But Kirk Cousins is the one that kind of wins
me over in a sense each time he does this
series because he's so honest.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
He's so incredibly honest.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
It is so blatantly obvious that he wanted to stay
in Minnesota, like he did not want to go to Minnesota.
He and his wife are at a park, kids are
kind of playing around that at a park, and they're
talking about how they had just watched a Minnesota preseason
game and that there was envy they were envious of
(11:56):
Oh man, like, we're not there anymore, We're not throwing
at Jordan Jefferson and Jordanatison anymore as somebody else is
doing that and Cousins liking it to you know, an
X from junior high or high school, and it was
obvious man, he did not want to leave Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Like Minnesota just really pulled it hard.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
He never would have gotten this kind of money. But
now your point, Macarthy got hurt. Let's say the universe
sitty is the same. Macarthy gets hurt, Cousins ends up playing. Yep,
they could do just fine with Cousins.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Last year.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
You would think maybe they don't win quite as many,
but maybe they do better at the end. Who knows, Yeah, right,
who knows how it all plays out. Obviously it worked
out great for Donald. But yeah, well I hadations for
a Seconday. I just thought about that, what if Donald
goes to Atlanta? But if Donald goes to Atlanta, I think,
I think, don't one, I don't think.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
I I think if Donald had gone to Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
And they draft, I think people would have been more
uh or they would have been completely less surprised about
drafting Pennix at that point, of course, I think it
would have been way less of a surprise. A placeholder.
He might start to begin to see, so Pendis is
gonna take over because he's not gonna be able to
cut it. That would have been the narrative.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
That's right, And I think we looked at Sam. We
look at Sam much differently after that you're in Minnesota.
But what if Sam had gone Atlanta? How would that
have gone? That would have been kind of interesting. But
I think Pennix would have played earlier more than more
than likely. And I don't think Sam gets obviously quite
the deal he got in Seattle. But when you're in
Minnesota really helped him. And how good is Minnesota with cousins.
(13:29):
Now he's coming off in Achilles And it was funny
because you talked about the Achilles too, but he said, yeah,
it really wasn't my lack of mobility or whatever.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
I'm like, boll crap. He could move. You could see it,
like you could see him not moving.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
And he's not a known scrambler necessarily, but you gotta
be able to move with move. Yeah, and it wasn't
he he didn't even seem to be able to do that.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
So I'm curious. I'm through a couple of episodes, so
I'm curious how this all goes.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Cousins, Golf, Burrow, and just those three. That's it, just
those three guys. It's interesting in the NFC that you
have Goff in Detroit, former number one overall pick, but
not for that team. You have Baker Mayfield in Tampa
Bay Division winner, former number one overall pick, but not
with that team. And in the East you have Jalen
(14:15):
Hurt's second round draft choice, and once upon a time
they were inquiring about trading for Deshaun Watson during the
season in twenty twenty one. And after that they go
to two Super Bowls, win one. That's pretty amazing, pretty amazing.
And then you have the NFC West where you have
Matthew Stafford, who is not a number one overall. Well
he was not number one overall Perick. Stafford was staff.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Number one, all right.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
So the three division winners with number one overall picks,
but not of that team. It's interesting you say that,
you're talking about Jamis Winston. I'm gonna get to that second.
PFF has been doing their redrafts. They did their twenty
fourteen redrafts.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I think this was actually while I was in LA
because I remember seeing Aaron Donald going to the Texans
at number one.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Can you imagine Aaron Donald JJ Watt to get there, Yeah,
oh my god. And that was Wat's year. That would
have been unbelievable. Those two that was Wat's MVP year. Yeah,
that was what's out in their years. Shut up.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
So they did their twenty fifteen redraft. Twenty fifteen redraft
if you remember how that went, and we talked about golf.
He was twenty sixteen, it was golf, and then it
was Mario. No, not Mariota. Goff wentz.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Wait wait, twenty fifteen sixty you're right, twenty twenty fifteen, yeah,
goes Jamis.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh well Mario, then Mariota.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, So Tampa Bay had the number one overall pick.
They went with Jamis when they did the redraft.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Tampa Bay's redraft is Stefan Diggs, number one overall.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Wow, how about that number one overall?
Speaker 2 (15:45):
He was the he was around five, pick one forty six.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
It's amazing to think about. Wait.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Wait, that's the number one overall pick in the number
one overall years.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Redrafted pick by PA. The starting quarterback is Baker may
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
That's right, Number two the Tennessee Tights. Remember the Titans
and Jacks went two and three that year. Leonard Williams
goes to Tennessee. Okay, number three the Jacksonville Jaguars In
the twenty fifteen redraft by PFF draft Danil Hunter edge
LSU round three, pick eighty eight.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Look at Hunter's career.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Oh, it's mazy to talk about It's yes, you know,
Jedevian Clowney number went and overall pick Mario Williams number
one overall pick. If you had drafted Danil Hunter number
one in twenty fourteen, if you could have yep, and
he had the kind of career he's having right now,
you'd be like, great, yeah, yeah, great, phenomenal number five
overall pick twenty fifteen.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Twenty fifteen, the twenty twenty four Texans are represented today.
Round four, pick one, P thirty one was a guard
drafted by the New England Patriots. Jack Mason goes five
in the overall redraft of twenty fifteen to the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
So am I wrong to say this is kind of
a weak draft? Well, I mean no offense.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
What's interesting is Brandon Sheriff was the pick a guard.
They picked another guard, Shack Mason, over Sheriff. Sheriff goes
pick six to the New York Jets. So that's three
twenty twenty four Texans drafted in the top five of
this draft.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
So I know what you're thinking. The Texans were sitting
at sixteen.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Originally they took Kevin Johnson from Wake Forest and he
not bust up his foot. I think Kevin would have
been a good player, but he bust up his foot,
came back not as healthy, lost confidence, ended up not
being the player Number sixteen in the Houston Texans select.
Quarterback Jamis Winston Florida State goes number sixteen in the redraft.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
He drops to the middle of round He drops to
the middle of round one.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
And I mean that year that we faced him in
twenty nineteen thirty three and thirty thirty three touchdowns in
thirty interception.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
How would O'Brien and Winston get along?
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Oh God, I don't even want to think about that.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
This is twenty fifteen where you were riding with Mallet
and Hoyer. By the way, hoere's doing a lot of
radio for serious XM radio. It was a pretty good job. Yeah,
I think I want to get him on a podcast. Yeah, went,
I was only here one year, and I'm sure a
little say yeah. And it was a weird year twenty fifteen.
We all know what happened. Then you won the division,
but it didn't go well in the playoffs, and that's
(18:33):
all we have to say about that. All right, Speaking
of history, Johnny, check this out. Like I said earlier,
we've come a long way. And by the way, John
Metchi's on the show tonight, we have a Sean Metchi.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Yeah, and Jared Wayne as well.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
We're gonna have both those guys on tonight wide receivers
time permitting with Wayne. But uh, it's not like we
have them in the green room here. We have these interviews. Okay, Jared,
stay in the green room till.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
We call you may or may not get to We're
like Kimmel.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Enjoyed the refreshments. Okay, here we go, and we love
Jared Wayne. So two years ago, Johnny, Okay, this is
not that long ago. Yeah, two years going into the
twenty twenty three seas going into the twenty twenty three season.
Now at this point, we are done with the draft.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
We obviously have Demiko Ryans as our head coach, so
we are feeling really great about that. But we don't
know where it's going, right Core. You don't know what's
where it's going even after the preseason. How good is
sej going to be? I don't know, I gotta see
it right right, I gotta see it.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Well.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
ESPN right after the preseason, right before the regular season
does their team previews, their predictions, all of that stuff.
And the Texans are predicted to finish where in the
AFC South in twenty twenty three, Yes, fourth exactly. Jags won, Titans,
(19:56):
Hugh Colts three.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Texas four.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Yep, yep, there we go, and it completely well, didn't
completely flip.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
And the Texans.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Where do you think the Texans would be ranked in
the entire NFL power rankings? Yeah, power rankings going into
twenty twenty three, it's like thirty or thirty one, Yes,
in most thirtieth thirtieth, thirtieth percentage chance to win the
AFC South eleven percent, eleven percent, Yeah, percentage chance to
make the playoffs fifteen percent. Well, okay, fine, I guess yeah,
(20:24):
you have a little bit of a higher percentage there
because you could possibly make it as a wild card.
This is what I don't get. Projected wins six point eight.
How does that even make sense if you're predicted to
finish fourth. Anyway, we won't get into that right now.
Care to guess who's thirty one? If the Texans are
thirtieth going into the twenty twenty three season. Who is
(20:45):
projected to be the thirty first power ranked team not
even projected. This is where they stand at the beginning
of the regular season. It wasn't the Jaguars, It's not
an AFC South team. The Texans did play this team
this year. Cardinals are last dead last. Cardinals were lost,
So the Texans did play this team, and this team
did a whole lot better than Broncos.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Tampa Bay, Oh, Tampa Bay. Yeah, Tampa Bay.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Thirty one, Cardinals thirty two, and the Texans and Tampa
Bay play arguably the game of the year here at
NRG statey and.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Tampa Bay in the league. Tampa Bay wins the division
gets the division round. Yeah, Arizona in twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Three, they didn't do a lot, but they had some
big wins on the road. If you remember, they beat
Philly on the road, they beat Pittsburgh on the road.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
They had moments that had some moments had moments.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
The Titans were picked or they are twenty second and
the power rankings seven point nine win projection. Okay, and
that's in the twenties. Was with rabury season that was
with Rabel. Rabel still coaching the team. Isn't it amazing
though that it's only two years ago. It's two years ago,
it's less than two years ago.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yes, that's how you can get this thing turned around,
and we did.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yesterday we talked about the twenty five Steve Palizolo from
formerly a PFF now thirty thirteen. He and Sam Monson
do a great podcast together called Check the Mic. When
the bio on Twitter, it's a Check the Mic, it
said we are anti shouty shows.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
I was like, that's where I've heard that. I've heard
them say it.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
So that's how the shouty shows are the ESPN, PANTE shows.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, Stephen A. Smith shows and Fox and those.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
All right, So going into twenty twenty three, a couple
of other things here, the Browns thirteenth in the Power
rankings going into twenty twenty three, and remember Watson's with
the team now supposed to have a full year with
the team. Yeah, plays on the back end of twenty
two wins. Here they actually finished better than thirteen. Well, no,
I take it back. They made the playoffs, so they
were top fourteen. Yeah, they made the playoffs. In fact,
(22:46):
the Browns in twenty twenty three won eleven games. The
games and what's interesting, this is why I think this
is worth bringing up the Colts this year when you
look at all the preseason stuff like, well, they're going
to be better at quarterback than they were, They're going
to be better than they were. Yeah, but you guys
were sent you guys, the pundits were saying they were
(23:07):
gonna be okay because at least they had Flaco last year.
And look what Flacco did in twenty twenty three. But
Flaco didn't do that well last year. But I'm here
to say that you've probably felt better as a Colts
fan going into twenty twenty four with Flacco as Richardson's
replacement for lack of a better word, than you do
(23:27):
with Daniel Jones as Richardson's replacement. I agree free season
the way you feel, I agree wholeheartedly. And I think
it was listening to Sean and Seth talked about the Colts,
and I think we've talked about this, and I think
Seth and I feel the same way, and that is
Anthony Richardson has just been abysmal.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
He completes less than fifty percent.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
I was messed with Cole weeks On our one of
our younger coaches here, and when they do the walkthroughs
and such, Cole does the quarterback and stuff because Cole's
play quarterback before and it's always could have somebody that's
at least been back there, so the guys kind of
have an idea and so Cole fired around.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
There's a lot of picks.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Because that's what you're doing to those walkthroughs, and I
was like, hey man, can we at least get to
Anthony Richardson percent completion?
Speaker 3 (24:12):
And he breathed, broke up laughing. But the thing about
it is, I want them to start Daniel Jones. I
want to see Daniel Jones because Richardson will give me
complete heartburn over those three hours because of the things
he can do. Now, how often do they show up.
I mean, it's kind of like a meteor. But we
(24:32):
saw those meteors. We saw him throw one sixty five
yards off his back foot fading away for a potential
sack for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Alec bears like we saw that.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
We also saw him throw one right straight to Jalen
Peatree right before halftime. That was an absolute killer. In
the second matchup last year. But he's scary.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
He's so scary with the ball in his hands.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
If I were the Colts at this point, if they're
gonna go with Daniel Jones, then I would have some.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Or to package with Richardson where he just runs the ball.
It just true. It turns into a true single wing.
It's just true single wing. He and Jonathan Taylor, or
he and some goodsin or whomever, and they just run
the rock out of that formation. Sure, you can just
step back and throw it. Step back and you're like,
oh God, there goes one of the deep guys. But
then again, he still might miss him. I just don't
(25:22):
I don't fear the Colts with Daniel Jones. I fear
what Richardson can do to keep the Colts in a game.
But I feel like at the end of the game,
if it's close, I don't feel like the Texans are
going to have an issue with that.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
What was the better option If we're sitting here doing
Colts Radio, it's Colts ALEXA, Yes, what was a better
option at quarterback than Jones? Knowing the situation with Richardson
heading into year three, the low completion percentage, all of that.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
The am darnold. Now it had been a roll the dice.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
And it would have cost you some money, it would have,
but it would have been a serious It would have
been a roll of the dice to go get him.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
And if you're gonna, if you're gonna pay Sam that money,
then he's the on questioned starter. I mean paying Jones
thirteen to fourteen million, And that's kind of sitting on
the verge of yeah, we think he's the starter, but
may not be.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
You pay Sam.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
The money that Sam eventually got from the Seattle Seahawks,
Like he's your starter, Like it's.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
No question he's got to be the start. You're done
with Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
The Daniel Jones signing just says, we can't quite quit you,
Anthony Richardson, just yet. But we feel like Daniel Jones,
we like a lot. Is Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
The joke where it's you're with your mom and you
want fast food burgers and she's like, we have burgers
at home, right, and burgers at home is Daniel Jones.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Burger's at home. Daniel Jones just kind of like, oh
all right, little man, it's not the same.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
It's like the Eddie Murphy thing right, like the Brett
you're putting it on wonder red and the bread gets
pink from the ketchup. You know this is not yeah
McDonald's or yeah Richardson.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Richardson.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Is the one time you get it completely right on
the grill, everything is just right, You got the crosshats more,
everything is right that one time. Yeah, and you keep
going back to it thinking you're gonna have it again.
The next one you get it's well done burger. You know,
everything's just off. There's just it's awful that she doesn't meld.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
You're like, God, rather have overdone or underdone if it's
gonna be done incorrectly.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Either way, Richardson's done them both.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
I'd rather have underdone because at least it's like still tasty. Yes,
I'll take the risk, darn it. Yeah, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
You're right, Daniel Jones is absolutely is your mom making
a hamburger inside and just here you go. You're right,
it's everything that's wrong with it, but it's a burger.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
I don't know how the Colts now. We had Matt
Taylor on a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, he said,
the excitement level is very high. I know it looks
every NFL city right now at the excitement levels, so
we should.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Be yeah, and you know, rip Jim Irsay and all
of that.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
But I don't know how man, because the wild card
here is Richardson. Is he suddenly going to erupt? Is
he going to become that guy for you? Because if
he doesn't, you could paint a picture. I could make
a case for Daniel Jones being respectable and being able
to run an offense with Jonathan Taylor running in football
(28:26):
very well, thank you, because he did it with Barkley
a couple of years ago and they won the playoff
game at Minnesota. I know Taylor's not Barkley, but he
can be a Barkley facsimile if you will in this context.
Who knows if the Texans have injury issues, paint that picture.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
And the other AFC South Voice interviews we had in
the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Taylor Zarzer called cam Ward a born leader. He said
he's a born leader.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
So we'll see what that translates into in Nashville. If
he's the leader, they're looking for the guy to lead
them to at least respectability record wise, and I think
for them respectability would be, Hey, take a little jump here,
six seven wins would be nice for them. They beat
the Texans last year with Levis. I don't want to
see them beat the Texans at all, But for them
from their context, can they get that much better with
(29:13):
cam Wore.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
That's kind of what I'm hoping from them, is that
they get six to seven wins.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Maybe they close with a couple of wins at the
end of the year and they feel like we're there,
like they're and then they don't get there. They're not
quite there the next year.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
But you talk about the Colts, here's the Here are
their first five games to start the year. So they
get to buy week week eleven, so I gotta play
ten in a row. So they start home Miami, home
Denver not easy, then at Tennessee, then at the Rams.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
So they go to home, two road, and then to
home again.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
So they get four to the first six at home,
and they get the Raiders and Cardinals in week five
or six. Now Colts can make some hey with that schedule,
getting first of all, getting four of those game games
at home, but you're facing at home Miami, Denver, Las Vegas, Arizona.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Yeah, Arizonas should be better. Miami.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Look they won eleven games two years ago. Again, looking
back at twenty twenty three like we were moments ago.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
It's amazing.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
I said, how far the Texans have come because they
were projected to be the thirtieth best team in the NFL,
and look what they did. They've won ten back to back.
The Dolphins were eleven and six two years ago. Last
year's sub five hundred. The Jets actually went seven to
ten with Zach Wilson, and then they did worse when
Aaron Rodgers got healthy. I mean, things changed so quickly
(30:36):
in this league, and injuries.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Play a big part of it. I get it.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
The Bengals, though, they're pretty consistent at nine to eight
and the Steelers ten and seven. I don't think the
Steelers is going to be any better than that this year.
I think the Bengals could be, but you better play
better defense, and I don't know if that's going to
happen for them.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
We got a long way to go here, and camp
begins two weeks from tomorrow now. One of the things
we're gonna be watching very closely because we'll watch everything closely,
and we'll be live eight to ten every morning the
first couple of weeks of camp, including at the Greenbrier
when the Texans travel there for training camp, and it's
really week three or week two and a half of
(31:14):
training camp heading into that first preseason game. Anyway, among
the things we'll be watching the wide receiver position group.
John Metchi, what's he up to? We had a chance
to visit with him during mini camp. You have not
heard this, so let's listen in and Jared Wayne as well,
another Texans wide out looking to do some big things
in camp and beyond. We'll have those guys for you
(31:36):
next here on Texans Radio. We jump right back into
the Hundai Texans Radio studio, and as promised, John Metchi,
entering year four, we caught up with number eight right
before Mini camp. John Harrison, I, you haven't heard this before.
Visited with the wide receiver from Bama. We were just
(31:58):
talking about this as you walked in, and because right
before you we were talking to ARV Smith, like yeah,
Bama guys back to back.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
It was like, wait a second, how many we got?
Now that's a good question. Before because it's Henry Christian,
you will or will the he the heck count?
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (32:18):
So I asked this question on Oh geez, we're definitely
gonna miss something. So I'll ask maybe a simple question
with a complex answer, But why John, Why what makes
Alabama so attractive not only to this organization but.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
To a lot of them. Why?
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Why were players from Alabama so coveted? Players and people
like to me go from Alabama so coveted? What is
it about that place?
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Uh, that makes an NFL team want to go out
and bring players like you to the building.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Yeah, that's a good question. I think it's the standard,
you know, like why we're there. There's a standard that
we have, a standard that that at the time coach
Sabman had everybody play to and kind of the program.
It's kind of like a professional team already, as far
as the coaches, you have, the schemes you run, the
way you practice, the way you compete. I think it's that, Like,
(33:13):
I think that's probably why lots of teams find that
player attractive. You know that, you know that they've been
in a professional like a professional type team already. They've
been through it. They know how to work and they
know how to compete.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Erv was saying you had three offensive coordinators there, and
he's been a round the league, so he's got a
lot of different offensive systems. But here you are, Nick
Kelly's the new offensive coordinator here. How is it different
for you, John, and what you guys do is receivers.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
It's good, it's good. I relate to it a lot.
I like it.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
It's very similar to offense I had and with Bill
O'Brien at Alabama my last year, and a little bit
of that Sark offense too because of the West Coast
like so it's been pretty good for us to adjust
to it. It's been pretty easy. It's fun for the receivers.
It's our type of offense for sure. It gives a
(34:05):
lot of power to the offensive players. You know, a
lot of trust with the offensive players. So we've been
enjoying it.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
So this is year four, technically year three on a field.
How different are you as a player now then when
you got back on the field in twenty.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
Three, John, completely completely from top to bottom, even completely
different from last year. Every year I think I've been
able to just recreate my game a lot and get
more comfortable. Of course, with the game in the league,
the game slows down, you get more experience, you see
how it works, you see how the timelines work, how
(34:46):
teams play. So just completely and to the point where
I don't even really watch too much old stuff because
I'm too busy, like you know, being vented and moving forward,
moving forward.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
So how have your offseason workouts been personally? How they've
grown or evolved over the years.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Yeah, I think the first two it's that you're trying
to You're trying to make up for so many things,
whether it's physical or you know, with the injury and
then being sick for a year. So the first last
two off seasons you're trying to make up in the
whole off season and close the gap to a place
you feel comfortable with being able to perform. But I
(35:25):
think this last off season was feeling really good. Now
you finally get to build. You know, you're not you're
not trying to like recover, You're not trying to close
a gap on anything.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
You're trying to just build on.
Speaker 4 (35:37):
Top of what you have and stacking days, stack days,
sharpen the sword, things like that.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Yeah, no question.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
You guys typically and I said you guys, I mean quarterbacks,
wide receivers, you guys typically get together in late spring
summer after OTA's are over, Mini camps over. Will you
guys be doing that again? And when you have done it,
what is that done for?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
The chemistry with quarter, just the chemistry amongst the group,
the camaraderie of the group, what's the what are those
events kind of meant to you?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
John?
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Yeah, we have and we will do that again this offseason.
And those are really important times because it's the time
you kind of just get to be together, be on
the field, run routes, hang out of course, but as
far as the football goes, you get to move at
your own pace, you know, get to really work it out,
talk it out, talk through defenses and like different looks
(36:26):
and stuff. So it's just the guys, no coaches. It's
just the guys, no coaches. So it's those are really
just important moments because you really just get to like
digest the offensive scheme or digest the just the philosophy
of how you want to play together.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
You know how this is a rhetorical question. I guess
how good are these dbs?
Speaker 2 (36:51):
These dvs are pretty darn good. So what do you
see it out there? Because I know they've hadded new
talent as well, but they were pretty good to begin with.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Yeah, it's that. It's that same thing. It's that iron
Sharperen's iron. You know, it's kind of it kind of
reminds me of college. Like you go on the defensive
side and you look over to the offensive side and
you're like, damn, that's a pretty good You go over
the offense side and you look at defense side, You're like, God,
they're pretty good. So I think all in all to
say that you got to show up every day and
(37:18):
if you do that, then the competition level rises and
everyone gets better fast.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
You know, John, what's the next step for this offense?
Obviously we talked about it. It's nude like you've had
some experience in it. But what's the next step just
from a thirty thousand foot view to get to the
next step offensively? What does this group have to be
able to do in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 4 (37:38):
I think just trust it, you know, trust the coach,
trust his philosophy and his scheme and his vision, and
everybody buy in. I think we have all the pieces
through and through coaching player wise. I think if everybody
just buys into the one vision, that will definitely take
that next step.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
When you see all the receivers, you know, you draft
a couple of guys relatively early, and you know you
went through this at Alabama when you see the young
guys there and then you're a you're an older guy now,
and I know you know it wasn't like you were
there for five years. But here as a pro this
is going to happen throughout your career where young guys
come in and maybe an older guy comes in. You
have Christian Kirk come in. What is that like for
(38:20):
you when you see all that. I know, you guys
all get along, you get good chemistry in the room,
but there's a lot of competition as well.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
I've always looked at it like that's what you want,
you know. I don't look at it any other way.
If you were the only person in the receiver room,
you wouldn't have a you know, I mean, one person
on your own. That your job would be pretty hard.
But I think it's good. It's like in college it
was good for everyone, you know. And I think if
you look into that too much of guys coming in
and then old guys, like there's always somebody that's chasing you,
(38:50):
and there's always somebody you're chasing, you know, right, You're
it's better, you're better off just focusing on your process
and and getting better in that like that way, you.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Know, Okay, a couple of mini camp practices and then
you guys are off on your own. So what are
your plans for the off season? Are you reading a book?
Are you binging a show? Are you going to movies?
Gonna have throwing we're throwing sessions. What's kind of the
off season? Playing for John.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
Metchi off season plans really just getting around the fan,
going back home, going to Toronto, being around the fam
and just training. You know, I got my little cousins,
all the guys and stuff, and we're just going to
be playing football or whatever sport. We're playing basketball, soccer,
and we're just going to be training all day. Those
are the best ones because it never feels like work.
You could do it all day every day, and it
(39:37):
never feels like you're actually training. It's just like you're
getting stuff done. Yeah, you're just getting runs in and
you're getting stuff done.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
In Toronto sounds like seventy two degrees today. That's good.
So what's it like when that hits when you get
to Alabama and that hits, and you get here in
that summer training camp, weather hits.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
What's that like?
Speaker 4 (39:54):
Yeah, it's different. You gotta not drink the kool aid
of wherever you're training at. You know, you've got always
keep in mind and that if you're running somewhere where
the weather's too nice, you might want to get a
couple more reps here and be able to, you know,
just push yourself a little more because when you get
back weather it's definitely going to be a factor and
you want to make sure that, like, just like your lungs,
everything is acclimated to stretching and stuff.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
And then it flips the other way when we go
play in a cold environment and you're laughing at all
these Texans like five layers on their jerseys.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Yeah, yeah, it's both. Thanks a lot for joining us,
good laciation. Thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
There's our visit with John Metshi now keeping the wide
Receiver brotherhood going. What about Jared Wayne? We kicked up
this conversation. I asked him if it was his first
ever visit in the hun Day Texans radio studio.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
It is?
Speaker 1 (40:41):
How about that? It's great to see you all right.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
So here you are again, and obviously the team has
added some talent at wide receiver, but you're in that talent.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
You're among that group.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
So tell us what you bring to the table for
the Houston Texans. We've seen you out there on the field,
We've seen you make plays, but tell the listen there's
more if you could.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
Yeah, I would say my game is is pretty well rounded.
I think the best part of my game is is
a deep threat. You know, I'm able to stretch the field,
bigger receiver, strong hands, able to make contested catches. So
I'd say that's that's the strongest part of my game.
But I'm always trying to refine and fine tune every
(41:21):
single part. So just be the best best receiver I
can be.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
So jared when you get here, your first year get
banged up and training camp, so it was kind of
tough to get you kind of get your footing then,
and last year you.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Got on the field, you be able to make some plays.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Now in your third years, we're watching ot as like Mark,
I've been doing this for a while, so we could
see like when young players are like, oh he's getting it,
Like you can you can see it. They don't even
have to tell you that. You can just see it.
But I'm gonna ask you.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Can you can you feel yourself like, Okay, I'm starting
to get it. I'm starting to kind of understand the
pace and the tempo, my routes, where it would be,
how I'm gonna make this play, et cetera. How much
more comfortable do you fear in year three then when
a rookie.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
When you got here is undrafted free agent.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Man, it's night and day. Just a confidence and and
like you said, just being comfortable out there, the game
slowing down, you know, even though we have a new
offense this year, it just feels like, you know, the comfortability.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Level is is is?
Speaker 5 (42:17):
I'm so much more comfortable out there and so much
more I feel free, yeah, you know, just just able
to go out there and play. So yeah, I feel
great mentally, physically, I just feel like I'm in a
good spot. And yeah, I just got to keep stacking yep.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
All right, So you grew up in Canada, right, and
you were playing quarterback as a freshman, and then you
transferred to a high school in Florida, right so, and
I noticed you were drafted by the CFL as well.
Is that because you would count as a Canadian player probably?
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Yeah, So yeah, that's that's.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Really handy because you have NFL talent as a Canadian. Yeah,
and that's not entirely rare, but it's it's great for them.
So tell us about that experience of playing that CFL
style football as a youngster.
Speaker 5 (42:57):
Yeah, so throughout high school really until my last year
of high school, I was playing quarterback. That was all
in Canada. Obviously, play Canadian rules in high school. So
I mean, at the end of the day, football is
kind of football the way I see it. You know,
the main concept of the Canadian game is very similar.
(43:18):
The only thing that really changes is the field size.
The ball is a little bit different. But for the
most part, I mean, football is football, So it's out there,
you know, making plays.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
That end zone's nice though, right, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:33):
For sure, for sure, you got an extra ten yards
to work with in the end zone. So yeah, it's
a lot of room to run out there. You know,
you get the ball in your hands and you know
you can make a play from wherever on the field.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
So you know, Danny Barrett the running backs a big
time CFL player and coach. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Yeah, so him and my dad played in the CFL,
so him and my dad are connected and know each other.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:57):
So dB and I always, you know, are having conversations,
always asking how my dad's doing and whatnot. So it's
so cool.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
When you decided to when you decided to move from
Canada to Florida.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
Was that move solely to say, hey, I want to
I gotta play, I want to play American football in college.
I need to go get some American football experience or
was just an opportunity. What was kind of the move
to Florida about for you and how did that impact
where you are now?
Speaker 1 (44:22):
That was?
Speaker 5 (44:22):
So that was my first year playing receiver when I
got to Florida. Really just got a year receiver under
my belt before I got to college. Uh, I got
all of my offers going to camps, so I actually
had my my pit offer before going down to Florida.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
So yeah, just traveling to camps, parents driving me, you know.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
H yeah, Pitts offered you as a Canadian having not
played receiver, we just want them.
Speaker 5 (44:48):
Yeah yeah, I guess you know, they saw nothing in
my athletic ability, and uh, you know, I made some
good plays out there.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
So so did you.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Go to camp at pitt And yeah, See that's how
it works. I've been to many of those college camps.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
I forget. I went to Georgia Tech back in nineteen
ninety eight and.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
I saw all these stud players were on this one
field over there, and Ralph Frigan was with them and
everybody else was over here, and I wonder what they're doing.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
They're looking at players. So that was that was really
They walked you in a camp and they just said
you got an offer?
Speaker 5 (45:15):
Yeah, so it was. I did the camp and then
a couple of days later they called me and said, yeah,
we want you years. So jumped on that and never
looked back.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
There's our visit with Jared Wayne.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Many of these interviews are up on YouTube right now
the Houston Texans page.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Go to it and enjoy.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Coming up, we'll go around the league to close things
out on Texans Radio. All right, we went along with
the rest of the show, so quickie segment on the
way out, John Harrison. James Brown is about to side
a contract extension with cbesterday, this one more year with
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Today. He was with Fox a long time ago.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
Right, it feels like a long time ago now right,
I don't have the years in front of me, but.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
It feels like long time. But it really hasn't been sneaky.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
James Brown is one of the best studio hosts of
rest having it's a direct traffic for that. I think
Metapie has done a great job too his career. It's
not easy when you have eighteen commentators on one set
and you've eighteen it's an exaggeration, but it doesn't seem
like that many. It doesn't seem like that much of
an exaggeration. He does a good job. James Brown. I
(46:13):
hope he gets the extension. I hope he sticks around.
He was one of my favorite interviews I've ever done.
He was so kind and such fun to talk about,
talk to tell stories.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
I mean, he was. I love James Brown and I
hope he gets the extension.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
He has been great for the NFL, great for that
for CBS, and I'm very curious. I written an article
by all full announcing this is something we'll talk about
for a different day, what these new TV contracts could
lead to for both CBS and Fox that have been
the tent poll TV networks for the NFL, but allfull
announcing did articles saying may not be like CBS and
(46:51):
Fox stuff games, but they're not going to get the games.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Oh because Netflix YouTube can go. Netflix and YouTube are
about to take over the universe. Yes, and when the
NFL fully embraces the international thing, well they have really
embraced it. But when it's a sixteen game schedule, if
and when, expect a Netflix and or YouTube to take
those because they'll get easy worldwide distributions already deal with Yeah,
(47:15):
they don't have to deal with all these international broadcasters.
And although that would be nice too because they'd probably
get a lot of money, but they'll get a ton
of money from Netflix and or YouTube for those things.
All right, that's going to do it for the show tonight.
This whole show will be available in podcast form on
Spotify wherever you get your podcasts, So check it out there.
Area forty five coming up next, Stay tuned, have a
