Speaker 1 (00:00):
What tapping.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Everybody, Welcome in to another edition of Texans All Access
matchup coming at you. I'm your host, John Harris for
PLAINFFS sideline reporter for your Houston Texans Fresh. I don't
know fresh is the right word. Bud Fresh off a
twenty seven to nineteen loss to the Seattle Seahawks. On
this show, we look back, we look ahead, So we'll
(00:23):
look back a little bit at the loss to the
Seattle Seahawks, but we will also look back at a
Week seven in the NFL that had one game that
will go down in history, historical fourth quarter for the
Denver Broncos. So we'll break break all that down. Then
(00:45):
we're coming back to Energy Stadium. Last time we were
at Energy Stadium a rookie, it kind of his breakout game,
and we're looking for him to have another one against
the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
That's what he marked.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
So we'll celebrate Woody a little bit later in the show.
But we gonna kick it off going around the NFL
in Week seven and started with one of the better
games in the I think over the whole weekend between
two forty year old starting quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, for the
Pittsburgh Steelers and Joe Flacco for the Cincinnati Bengals. It
(01:21):
got started early with some fireworks as Aaron Rodgers found
John hu Smith to give the Steelers a seven nothing lead.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Third and six at the Cincinnati ten opening drive of
the game, Rogers shotgun staff pumps. He's pressured, He's flushed
to his left. He cuts back to his right. He
has some blockers paving a path. He throws on the
run end zone cat touchdown right in the chest of
John news Smith a third deep at the a En
tangles in the end zone and it's six nothing Steelers.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
But the forty plus year old on the other side,
Joe Flacco was also firing, and when he did on
this night, twenty three targets for Jamar Chase. He hit
him sixty times, including this one for an eight yard
touchdown pass.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Since Joe Burrow went down, the Bengals have not scored
a first half touchdown. They just had one taken away
after replay assist motion from Yosibash. Flacco out of the
gun right half, takes a taller snaf fates back lop
left one on one, Jamar Chase hey tombles down and
makes the crab flag us out. He aggressively shove with
Jalen Ramsey. He two hit pushed him away as he
(02:26):
separated for the score.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Pass interference defense number five.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Carlin's the crime is over the Quiles a touchdown and.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
The Flacco's on Ramsey. That's a score for Cincinnati. Chase
gets his six hit, his ten to six.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Bengals were back in the game, though with it ten
to seven, they decided to take it up a notch,
and this time Flacco found t Higgins from twenty nine
yards out to give the Bengals a fourteen to ten lead.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Flacco under center, second and fourth, the Pittsburgh twenty nine
deep drop fires, Higgins catching the twenty firston.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Or missed fifteen ten five splits the safety's end zone touchdown,
Cincinnati twenty nine to T Higgins and Cincinnati shoots ahead
thirteen to ten, two fifty two.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
To go until halftime. That was a one minute and
twenty three second scoring drive with big plays in a
big way.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
It's our buddy, John sadak On The call for Westwood
one in this game was on. They went back and
forth throughout this entire game, but it looked like the
Bengals were gonna take an even bigger step when Joe
Flacco found Noahfan in the end zone from five yards out.
(03:48):
No Fan with the Bengals man, they got a lot
of pass catchers.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Flacco out of the gun, Chase says man outside left,
Josi Vosh goes wide right, lock left, Flaco checks Downy
fires middle en zone, caught touch down, Cincinnati, no offense,
his second score of a season, the big Man touchdown
and his twenty six to seventeen Cincinnati infancy on.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
The fourth quarter.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
And this is part of what happens when you bracket
a great player like Chase.
Speaker 8 (04:22):
You're essentially losing this safety in the middle of the
field because he's just isolated on Chase with any inbreaking route.
He's not sitting there in the middle for the tight
end coming from the other side. Again, Chase is affecting
this game in.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
A major way.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
But this one was far from over.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Rogers hit Big Darnell Washington for a five yard touchdown
pass to cut the lead to three, twenty seven twenty four.
When Rogers got the ball back, they were trailing thirty
to twenty four. But then Pat Fryarmouth found himself wide
open for one of the biggest plays of not only
(05:06):
the game, but of Friar Mooth's career. Sixty eight yard
touchdown gave this Steelers a one point lead.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Steelers need chunk yardage second and twenty from their own
thirty two down six on the road on Thursday Night,
two thirty one to go, fourth quarter. Rogers having a
gun four wide two and two. He fates back near
left hash runs out of a hit. He fires Dave
woman open caught thirty six thirty twenty five, twenty fifteen
Top five touchdown Steelers, the second of the nine from
(05:38):
pad five O. He goes sixty eight yards on a strike.
It ties in a thirty and an extra point could
have made a Steelers lead. The thirtieth career game for
Aaron Rodgers with four touchdown passes and stun silence in Cincinnati.
Speaker 8 (05:59):
This is absolutely stunned, and so.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Am I.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Second and forever.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
Rogers buys time and then throws an absolute rifle down
the field. Friar Muth got lost in coverage and it
looked to me like Geno Stone was the guy that
should have been there to make a play on the football.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
But old man Flacco had plenty of time left and
plenty of ammunition in that strong right arm. He would
eventually hit t Higgins, who took the ball down inside
to ten and then slid down. Forced the Steelers to
have to take all their timeouts, ran the clock down
about ten seconds left, and then Money McPherson. Evan McPherson
(06:45):
stepped up to give the Bengals a two point lead
with just ten seconds left in a game.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Thirty six yard field goal try for the lead eleven
seconds to go down to one left to right kick
for McPherson out of the hold of Rica for his
fourth field goal of the game and the lead snap
spot right foot of kickers in the air. He's got
the leg. He drilled it. Thirty three thirty one Cincinnati.
(07:14):
Seven seconds remained the fourth field goal make of the
night for Evana McPherson as Cincinnati tries to snap before
game slide and now the Steelers in their stranglehold on
the AFC North had hopes of ballooning that lead to
(07:36):
three and a half games. They're gonna need some help here,
no timeout.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Seven seconds now, He's see Aaron Rodgers work miracles and
in that seven seconds they moved the ball to give
Rogers a shot at a hill Mary, and I'm telling
you this ball was launched, it got to the end zone,
and I know Cincinnati fans feared the worst. Lions fans
(08:04):
have seen this before, Cardinals fans has seen it before,
Giants fans have seen it before. But the Bengals stopped
the hail Mary and got the thirty three to thirty
one win.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Prevent from the Bengals. They show three safeties incredibly deep.
Rogers out of the gun, trips left, single back right
in gain will three seconds down two points. Rogers takes
the shotgun staff, he fades, he rolls to the near left.
Rogers steps into it. He heaves a long, arcing effort
into the end zone, knocked down by the Bengals, and
(08:39):
that's the game. Dj Ivy got up playing deep safety
and swats it down the volleyball finish and Cincinnati beats
Pittsburgh thirty three to thirty one in a Thursday night thriller.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Bengals batting it down, and that gave Cincinnati their third
win of the year, moving down to three and four,
but a big win over the division leading Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
These teams swap punches all night.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Flaco through for three forty two and three touchdowns, Aaron
Rodgers through for two forty nine and four touchdowns, but
Rogers through two interceptions. Those would end up being a
difference from Mark Chase was the dude. Sixteen catches, one
hundred and sixty one yards receiving and a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Bengals win. Bengals win.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Then it's time to go to Jaliod, England. With the
Jaguars playing in their home away from home in Wembley
took on the Los Angeles Rams, and for as comfortable
as Jacksonville is in their particular home away from home,
it was the Rams who came in like Rick James
(09:47):
and put their boots all over the couch. And by
putting their boots all over the couch, I mean well
Matthew Stafford throwing a bunch of touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
This was his first.
Speaker 9 (09:55):
Rams facing second in goal after a one yard loss,
the ball back to the five year line. Staff An
under center, two tight ends, left, single man right, all
in a three point stanch Man in motion left to
right to play faking back to throw Stafford pressure in his.
Speaker 10 (10:09):
Face, throwing back of the end zone caught two feet
in touchdown Rams.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
It's a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (10:15):
Rams cannot tave Luckfield, the rookie has his first.
Speaker 10 (10:19):
Career touchdown and the Rams leads six to nothing after
a lengthy opening possession at Wembley.
Speaker 11 (10:27):
And I said earlier in the opening, I keep going
back to that who's going to step up for the
Raft and Arris Muckfield, the rookie out.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Of Pittsburgh the ACC. I watched this kid play in
the ACC and now we're stepping up in the big leagues.
Speaker 11 (10:40):
Matt Stafford throwing up at his back shoulder, showing you
how elite he is.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
And the dude kept throwing touchdowns.
Speaker 9 (10:47):
And now first and goal for the Rams at the
two under center is Stafford, single back behind him. He's
gonna throw a fade back right corner of the end.
Speaker 10 (10:57):
Zone one on one, and was caught at He's in
for Anticho hundred.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
It's Davante Adams, the.
Speaker 12 (11:04):
Jaguars killer does it again.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
In London and it's thirteen to nothing.
Speaker 9 (11:09):
The Rams over the Jaguars inside two to player the
first one on one of.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
The salty vet.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
He's going to Canton someday, he sure is.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
And with those kinds of catches, certainly.
Speaker 11 (11:21):
And you watched the La Rams last week against the
Baltimore Ravens down in the red zone and they were
not able to get these kind of touchdowns. They come
right back this week to get Jack to Bill Jaguars,
and they go right back to Adams and he comes
down with a spectaclar catch quote touchdown.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
One on one, faint route.
Speaker 9 (11:35):
Second and goal inside the one inches away from the
goal line, and Stafford's in the gun.
Speaker 13 (11:41):
Kyron Williams are running back, standing to.
Speaker 9 (11:42):
His left, tight splits for the receivers, everybody on the
line with the Jaguars.
Speaker 13 (11:47):
A staff playfake throws it over the middle.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
Davante Adams one handed catch. It's a touchdown for the Rams.
Unbelievable stag on the back line. He got both beet in.
Speaker 14 (11:58):
Then the Rams celebrate their the third touchdown of the game.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
Here's a flagout.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Pass interference defense number six. The penalty is to find shutdown.
Speaker 9 (12:13):
Unbelievable from Davonte Adams.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 11 (12:18):
Ladies and gentleman, we're witnessing and seeing someone that's playing
at an elite Hall of Fame level, the Devonte Adams
from the one head snag with the defender hanging all
over him.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
My goodness, yeah, I think you get the point. The
Rams dominate the Jaguars thirty five to seven. Travis Hunter
did score for the Jacksonville Jaguars, this first touchdown in
the NFL. But this one was all Matthew Stafford. Now
he only threw fo one hundred and eighty two yards.
In fact, Trevor Lawrence threw for almost three hundred, but
Stafford threw four five touchdowns and that was the difference.
(12:58):
Rams win thirty five to seven. What a fantastic ballgame,
that was, all right. The Chiefs took on the Raiders
and this one really got ugly.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Like early, early, early in the game.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
And it started when Patrick Mahomes found his newest wide receiver.
Well he's been around, he just had been suspended. Rashi
Rice made it seven to nothing and that would hold
up as the chief should win this one, thirty one
to nothing.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Hurst down goal to go for the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
No scored a little over six minutes to go. First quarter.
Marie at the running back.
Speaker 9 (13:37):
The Chiefs come on a flip past the Rice, this
side touchdown, Turnsa City.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
It's our buddy, Mitch Holt this on the call.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Kansas City rolls over the Las Vegas Raiders thirty one
to nothing. Let's go up to the land of ten
thousand Lakes where the Minnesota Vikings and Carson Wentz getting
a visit from the field out for the Eagles, and
there's been all this noise about the passing game and
the Eagles offense and bloody blah blah blah blah blah.
(14:09):
Jalen Hurts said, that's just a bunch of noises. He
found AJ Brown from thirty seven yards out.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Fourth and fourth.
Speaker 15 (14:15):
I have to get inside the thirty three of the Vikings, Hurts.
Line's about because Tripp's white pray with the Savers Barkley
to was left motion. AJ Brown from hit to left
Hurts his beck Hurts looking, He's still looking, still looking.
Speaker 16 (14:34):
Leaving going down going for AJ Brown caught up to
ten and from touchdown Hurts. The Brown and Brown fires.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Of under the Stons gave the Eagles a seven to
nothing lead right off the bat. They would make it
fourteen to three a little while later in his second quarter,
as Jalx Hunt, He of Houston Christian University, took a
forty two year yard interception returned to the house when
(15:03):
he picked off Carson Wentz, who took a big shot
on this play from Jalen Carter Hunt to the house.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Fourteen to three.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Eagles.
Speaker 15 (15:11):
Vikings are two for three on third down conversions. This
is a big one. They lost the yard on that
last carry. Wentz lines them up. He's in the shotgun
slot to the near side, slot to the far side, shotgun,
double wing.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Wentz in the gun, puts a man in motion. Wentz
takes the snap. He's looking, he's hit as he throws.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
It's interception.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
I picked off run.
Speaker 16 (15:38):
He went for football tay the sideline as Jalo's.
Speaker 17 (15:41):
Hunt throw a touchdown. Well, that's one way to get
it done. This is an outstanding job on the call.
Jayalen Carter just beach right through the offensive line, just
runs over the center. He puts the hit on Carson Wentz,
and Carson Wentz let.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
That football know and really from there, the Eagles, I
wouldn't say look back. There are a couple of plays,
a little controversy with a TJ. Hockinson touchdown that was
then overturned after review, But in all seriousness, the Eagles dominated.
They would put this one on Ice when Jalen Hurts
(16:17):
hit A J. Brown for a final first down to
seal the win.
Speaker 15 (16:22):
They either pick up the nine yards here or they're
going to have to punt the ball back to Minnesota
and give them enough time to come down and score.
They are only the Vikings are only down by six points.
This would be a heartbreaking loss for the Eagles.
Speaker 11 (16:44):
A J.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Brown to the far side.
Speaker 15 (16:48):
This is the biggest third down of the season.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Quite Franklin.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Hurts and the gun.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Hurts.
Speaker 15 (16:58):
It's back. There comes. He is a litpicking for AJ Brown.
Speaker 13 (17:02):
Who has it?
Speaker 16 (17:03):
Who hasn't? Cuts back at the ten. He's down at
the ten yard line.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Hurt stay j plubn.
Speaker 16 (17:10):
Fike's difficent Fike difficit Yeah, fully six yards.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
I thought it's gonna wrap up this game.
Speaker 17 (17:17):
You get him one on one and you're gonna have
st success. He's one on one on the outside with
Isaiah Rodgers, his old buddy Dave duel Din practice many days.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
This time he beats him on the slant and go.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Eagles fans and NFL analysts made.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
I love the way that the Eagles are winning games.
But they are winning games. Well, they're back to winning
games five and two. Now for the Philadelphi Eagles as
they take this one twenty eight to twenty two over
the Minnesota Vikings. All right, let's go to rainy Cleveland,
where rookie quinn Sean Judkins got a handoff and showed
(17:56):
why he was one of the highest rated running back
in last year's draft class, housing this one to give
the Browns a ten to three lead over the Dolphins.
Speaker 18 (18:05):
Man, they're now in the Miami forty six yard line
for the far hash out of an I formation, fanning
in front of Judkins Gabriel on first half, we'll give
to Judkins running up the middle pig hole forty he's
in the thirty.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Five, he's in the thirty. It's a foot race. Twenty fifteen.
Speaker 18 (18:20):
First sideline touchcown Quinn Sean Judkins from forty six yards
to the house.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
And guess who was in right there?
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Kat Lewiston, him.
Speaker 19 (18:32):
And Wyatt Teller blocked down. They ran right up the
back of those two behemoths and into the end zone.
Quinn Sean Judkins turn in on the Jets and the
Browns took advantage of it. This is the official set.
Here's the gift Cleveland and quinn Sean Judkins with the
home run there his fourth running more than thirty yards
(18:53):
this year, forty six yards to the crib Andrew.
Speaker 18 (18:57):
There's the home run you needed, quinn Sean and the
Browns now take the lead nine to three with a
point after pending.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
But the young man from Ole Miss slash Ohio State
was not done. They'd like to use him in the wildcat.
He juggled this snap didn't matter once he corralled. He
went into the end zone untouched. This we give the
Browns a seventeen to three lead and nearly put the.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Dolphins out of their misery for the day.
Speaker 18 (19:22):
Browns having second and goal on the three yard line again,
quinchean his formation. Yup is the quarterback with whiteheart to
his left from the three yard line.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Judkins waits for it. He bobbles the snap, he picks
it up. Now he goes forty spends pit in.
Speaker 6 (19:38):
Touchdown Shutkins his second of the day.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
He bobbled the snaff and somehow found a way.
Speaker 19 (19:45):
Into the end zone and almost threw Jordan Brooks off
because the stamp was bobbled out to the left and
he thought, oh my goodness, maybe it's.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Gonna go the other way.
Speaker 19 (19:55):
He corrals it with one hand and then look at
the spin boom getting.
Speaker 13 (19:59):
Into the end zon.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
What did I say for the game?
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I said afterwards, I wanted this to.
Speaker 19 (20:02):
Be the Quinn Sean Judkins game. And here we are
in the first half, fifteen carries, sixteen carries now seventy
seven yards and not one but two touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
We are on our way to the quin Shawn Judkins game.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Judkins would tack on a third touchdown to give the
Browns a thirty one to six win over the Dolphins,
a dominating win for the Browns.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
I mean, I didn't know that that those are gonna
be words I said today or ever this year.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
But it was.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
And Quinn Shawn Judkins and that offense really got it
cranked up. Dylan Gabriel, solid ball game, didn't turn the
ball over to a tongue of Ilo replaced by Quinn Ewers.
Don't know if that'll last, but it was good to
see what you weres get in the game. Just didn't
matter at that point. Thirty one and six, the Browns
get that win in the Browns now two and five.
(20:53):
Two in five Miami won and six.
Speaker 13 (20:55):
Ooh bad.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Things going on in Miam Me.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
All right, let's go to Tennessee where for a little
while it looked like maybe the Titans are gonna hang
around in this one.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
Maybe.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
But then right before the half, Kaise sham Boudi went
deep and Drake May found him. And this was the
backbreaker in the Patriots thirty one to thirteen win over
the Titans.
Speaker 15 (21:25):
Remember all three timeouts remaining, they're down thirteen to sad.
Speaker 20 (21:28):
May takes the snap chest high, he dropped back with time,
he loads up and he.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Reaches other snaps him. He teles it to the end zone. Touchdown. Patriots.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
What through? What a throw?
Speaker 5 (21:43):
More pointly, it's a catch. Kayshamp Booty is a developing.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
In the one heck of a weapon for Drake May.
Speaker 21 (21:52):
Its fingertips extended deep post left and they take the
shot easy kick.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Out of bounce.
Speaker 21 (21:58):
You're to forty, get it to the fifty on a run,
bag it to the hunder.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Henry and did Josh mcdangials take your shot?
Speaker 1 (22:05):
As was said by many?
Speaker 2 (22:08):
I say many, it was seemingly everybody that mentioned to
where Drake May.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Hey, Drake May is throwing the deep ball as well
as anybody the NFL.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Right now, we heard that from everyone and it's probably true.
But Drake May was outstanding. Twenty one of twenty three.
He had as many touchdowns as he did incompletions.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Twenty one of twenty three for two hundred and twenty
two yards. Two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Kayleebon Chason north Shore's finest with a sack fumble recovery
for a touchdown was a big day for the Patriots,
as the Pats moved to five and two in the
hapless Tennessee Titans fell to one and six. All Right,
I hate to do this, but let's get to the
Chargers and the Colts. Basically, it was a lot of
(22:53):
Jonson Taylor, I hate to say.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Out of the gun goes Jones. Tyler Warren in motion
to the left side.
Speaker 13 (22:58):
Now they're gonna move Taylor in my oh jet sweet
to him.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Taylor turns the corner, He's at the five.
Speaker 13 (23:03):
Look it for the pylon.
Speaker 12 (23:04):
Is he in?
Speaker 5 (23:06):
No signal yet?
Speaker 22 (23:07):
He has a touchdown, late signal touchdown for the Colts,
and they go quickly with a huge kickoff return by
a Mere Abdullah to set up the offense. A couple
plays later, Jonathan Taylor just sneaks inside that right pylon
for his second touchdown.
Speaker 13 (23:24):
Of the game.
Speaker 21 (23:25):
Jay t said, I'm gonna give me another one.
Speaker 12 (23:28):
I want to make a hat trick, maybe this week,
but for sure, let me go give my second one.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
It would end up thirty eight to twenty four, but
it didn't even feel that close.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
I mean, fourteen points isn't close. But the Colts were dominant.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Jonathan Taylor is putting together an offensive Player of the
Year campaign for the Colts.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Now six to one.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
He had three touchdowns on the day, ran for ninety
four yards on sixteen carries. They just dominated the Chargers.
I mean dominated, force Herbert to have to throw fifty
five times.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
The Chargers' only ran for thirty one yards in the league.
Rusher was justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
The Colts jumped all over the Chargers and made them
like it. Thirty eight to twenty four. The Colts are
freaking six and one.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Man.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Oh, I can't live in this world, but that's kind
of where we are right now. So there you are
all r Let's get to the Game of the day
took place in Denver, where the Giants had a lead
going into the fourth quarter. In fact, The lead going
into the fourth quarter was nineteen to nothing. The Broncos
hadn't done anything. Then the game started turning. And it
(24:38):
turned in that fourth quarter when bo Nicks was able
to find Troy Franklin for a touchdown and that got
them going. They added on a two point conversion and
they would be in the ballgame now at nineteen to eight.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
That got things rolling.
Speaker 12 (24:56):
Dobbins now the loan back Nix is under center and
second down a goal. They reset the full back in
front of Dobbins to play fake again. Nix in trouble,
throws a ball deflected and caught in the end zone.
On the rebound, the ball caught by Troy Franklin. It
(25:18):
doesn't matter how it looks. It just matters if you
score and the deflection goes straight up into the air
in Franklin. With a contested catch on the rebound, the
Broncos score fifty two seconds into the third. He tried
to squeeze the ball into Courtland Suddon. The ball was deflected,
(25:38):
I believe at the goal line in Franklin got both
feet down in Courtland. Deontay Banks and Courtland right there.
Somebody was gonna have to make that catch either an
interception or a touchdown, and Troy Franklin came down.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
With it, Yes, sir, he did.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
That started the run for the Broncos, but the Giants
kept answering in nineteen to eight. You're thinking, if you're
a Broncos fan, hey, we're back in this thing. Then
Jackson Dark got loose and through to THEO Johnson, the
big tight end for the Giants. This would now put
the Giants up twenty six to eight.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
As they answered the touchdown from the Broncos.
Speaker 12 (26:20):
Dark balls out signals third and seventeen.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
They bring pressure up the middle.
Speaker 13 (26:28):
Dark's backfires it over the middle and it's.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Caught off with deflection.
Speaker 22 (26:31):
THEO Johnson's got a twenty ten five to the goal line.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Is he in yet? No single touchdown? Giants? One tip?
Speaker 14 (26:45):
Yeah, the Broncos scored on a tip play and now
the Giants get one.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
We'll see your tip with ours. What a crazy play.
Speaker 14 (26:54):
On a third and seventeen, he throws the slant in
and out of the hands of Wandale Robinson who has
dropped it.
Speaker 13 (27:01):
But THEO Johnson plucked.
Speaker 14 (27:02):
That out of the air and now everybody in the
mile high we'll see you in eight years as they
head to the exits.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yeah, they were heading for the exits, and they probably
shouldn't have because Nicks was far from dawn on this day.
This cut into the lead is seven yard touchdown run
to make it twenty six sixteen.
Speaker 12 (27:23):
Nicks keeps it, rolls to his right inside the five
mix to the goal line, and bow scampers into the
end zone with a Denver touchdown.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Five thirteen left.
Speaker 12 (27:36):
The Broncos have all three timeouts and it's now twenty
six fourteen, and props to Evan Ingram, the tight end
got just enough of a block there in the corner
of the end zone without holding to let Nix get
in and score that touchdown.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Fans already regretting having left now at twenty six to
sixteen and plenty of time left, Justin Strenard of wake
Forest intercepted Jackson Dart.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
A few plays later, bo Nicks found RJ.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Harvey, the rookie out in the flat, for a two
yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to three.
Speaker 12 (28:14):
Denver goes without a huddle. Now Harvey stays in the game.
He's lined up behind Knicks, who's under center. Knicks rolls
to he's right, throws the ball into the flat.
Speaker 13 (28:23):
RJ.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Harvey has it and Denver has a touchdown.
Speaker 12 (28:30):
Twenty six, twenty two, Knicks to Harvey from two yards out.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
You gotta kick here, can't be a.
Speaker 12 (28:41):
Two point play down four three fifty one left. Harvey,
the lone running back just popped out there in the flat,
nobody guarding him. Easy throw, easy catch, touchdown Broncos.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
And then a few moments later, bo Nicks did it again.
This time he would run one in from eighteen yards
out and they would take the lead.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 12 (29:08):
Broncos are back at the line of scrimmage, but they
again wide left outside of Courtland Sutton. The recessed to
Nich's right, with three receivers outside his right, Knicks on
a design quarterback run bow.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Out his hand bowl.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
He said to five touchdown Dipper, Holy mackerel.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Holy mackerel is right.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
But he wasn't over because Jackson Dart was able to
find wan Dale Robinson on fourth and nineteen to keep
a drive alive that would get them a position to
score a touchdown to again take the lead, but they
missed the extra point that made it thirty two to
(29:52):
thirty Giants. Bow Knicks was like, I got this, We're
all good. He found Courtland Sutton in the fourth quarter,
a former teammate of Damarius Thomas, who was being put
into the Broncos Hall of Fame Hall of Honor, right
next to Peyton Manning. This is an emotional game for
Cortland Sutton. He came with a big play here to
(30:12):
set up the game winning field goal attempt.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Let's get this thing a little closer.
Speaker 12 (30:16):
Tight trips right, Sutton comes in motion straight man covers
as he's followed across the formation. Nick's facing four man
pressure in the pocket, throws a ball for Sutton.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Who goes up and makes the catch.
Speaker 12 (30:30):
Inside the twenty five Denver with eight seven six five
on the one of scrimmage four.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
They kill it with co seconds to go.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
Then Sean Payton's favorite kicker, Will Lutz, well, he won
the game.
Speaker 12 (30:46):
Thirty two thirty. The Giants have the lead with two
seconds to go. Denver with the ball on the twenty
lined up with the ball being spotted near Hash at
the twenty nine at attempt to thirty nine yards for
the win.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
Snap placement kick on the way.
Speaker 12 (31:08):
It is good Broncgon players celebrating, right, they just won
a home playoff game.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Thirty three points in the fourth quarter, thirty three in
the fourth quarter, and the Giants at thirteen. It wasn't
that the Giants were shut out. They had thirteen thirty
three to thirty two. The Broncos win.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
They moved to five into Giants fall to two and
five with a gut punch loss for the Giants, but
Bo Nicks led them back ran it well. He threw
for two seventy nine and two touchdowns. Corland Sutton had
that big catch right at the end to set up
the game winning field goal. Jackson Dart threw for three touchdowns,
but he was under five hundred sorry fifty percent completion
(31:52):
rate and he had an interception. Giants thrown worst enemy. Unfortunately,
they lose thirty three to thirty two. All right, that
I'll do it for Week seven in the NFL. Let's
get to our ultimate eleven for the plays of the
game on Monday night.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
It was a gut punch, but there were a few.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
We'll go through this next right here on Texans All
Access Matchup Edition. Welcome back to Texans All Access Matchup Edition.
I'm your host, Shawn eris foot play on a sideline
reporter for your Houston Texas.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
It was a tough one up the pack.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Northwest Texas go down to defeat twenty seven to nineteen.
But on matchup we always do our ultimate eleven plays of.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
The game, and even in a loss, even in a
game that.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Was just such a gut punch, there were plenty of plays.
I left a lot on the cutting room floor for
this week. So let's get to our ultimate eleven and
start with a guy that has consistently picked up his
play every single week, Tommy Togii. He also had a
pass breakup to go along with the two TFLs you're
(32:59):
gonna hear. This is number eleven, two plays from Tommy Togii.
Speaker 20 (33:03):
Here they are the Seahawks at the Houston forty two.
They rushed to the line of scrimmage first down at
the Houston forty two. Walker in the backfield, Darnald under center,
Arroyos sets up on the left wing. Donald feeds Walker
running left and he's bumped again by Barnett, tripped up
by Henry or rather Tommy. Tommy got him togy I
(33:26):
in the backfield and he couldn't get by Henry and
friends at the line of scrimmage, so about a half
yard loss on the play, second down and long coming
up the step. Third down and two at the Houston
twenty eight Sharmoney in the backfield, Darnald under center, bunch
formation left, including an extra lineman hand off, Charbona trying
to fight a hole up the middle. But I have
trouble doing it because the Texans stop and Tommy getting
(33:49):
there with his friends.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
He may have lost ranking yard and his these is.
Speaker 20 (33:54):
On the bottom of the pile and it looks like
they forced him backwards about a yard, so they're gonna
try field goal here, Drey.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
You had to make it still a one score game.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Fortunately it would remain a one score game for the
bad guys. Now, you have as standing rule as you
all know if you've listened to this show, that if
the Texans get beat, number ten is always paying homage
to the victor, and in this case it was Seattle Seahawks.
So at number ten, I chose this play seven and
nothing after the aziz al Shire penalty gave the Seahawks
(34:27):
another look at it. Sam Donald found Jackson Smith Injigba
and JSN was just fabulous I mean just fabulous all night.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
I didn't see this.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
In fact, I see myself on the TV copy walking
away because I didn't want to watch. I didn't know
he was gonna go up and dunk the ball in
a goalpost, but caught the slant route, fought off Derek
Stingley Junior caught it. Touchdown. Mad respect for JSN at
Seahawks and have JSN. They don't win that game last night,
but they do and he was tremendous in This touchdown
comes in at number ten, first.
Speaker 20 (35:00):
Down at the Houston eleven with fifteen seconds to go
in the first quarter. Texan's already down seven to nothing.
Backs against the wall. Walker in the backfield, Darnald under center.
Walker moves to his left. Now Donald back to pass.
Donald looking pressure.
Speaker 13 (35:13):
Arriving close to the old John Clark.
Speaker 20 (35:15):
JFN touchdown Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yeah, man, I got loud when he made that touchdown,
then dunked on the goal post, the ultimate embarrassment. All right,
it's get to number nine. Jalen Knowles showed up in
a big way. This catch of twenty one yards came
in the fourth quarter. You could see the rookie starting
to come along and man. Would that be a development
for this offense.
Speaker 20 (35:40):
But the matter at hand, it's fourth down and a
long five inside the twenty five of Seattle.
Speaker 13 (35:47):
Gotta have it straut of the gun.
Speaker 20 (35:49):
Three receivers left, one back Dara Hutchinson short side right.
Here's the snap CJ looking, CJ firing downfield and it's
caught no out of bounds inside a five first and goal.
Speaker 21 (36:02):
That's a young man when you're searching for playmakers. Though
he's young, you gotta find a way to get the
ball in his hands.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Magic seems to happen.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
But I like that little nol magic. Gotta keep that up.
Really need Jaylenola to continue to contribute.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
The biggest factor in the passing game though on Monday
night was Dalton Schultz.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Man was fantastic.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
I'm just I was raving after the game about what
he did.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
I just I hate the fact that he was not
rewarded with a win With the way that he played.
He led all Texans receivers in catches and yards. He
had nine for ninety eight coming in at number eight.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
It's Dalton Schultz. A trio of catches for Dalton.
Speaker 20 (36:51):
Second and five at the Houston nine Stroud under center
X across the formation. Stroud thanks to get floats on
that right side Cawk Schultz fifteen twenty right side line
and knocked down at about the twenty one yard line
by Kobe Bryant. First down Houston, second and nine at
the forty seven yard line of the Hawks.
Speaker 13 (37:09):
Stroud fakes to give.
Speaker 20 (37:11):
Rolls left, hits Dalton forty thirty five up sideline thirty.
It's twenty five before he's knocked down Dalton Schultz.
Speaker 13 (37:19):
Nice catch and run.
Speaker 20 (37:21):
Tyle Katta forces him out at the twenty five yard
line of the Texans half something cooking with a twenty
two yard play. Second down and ten from the Houston
thirty two yard line.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
One back.
Speaker 13 (37:33):
Stroud the media pressure as he tries the.
Speaker 20 (37:36):
Boot but hit Schultz forty forty five and Shultz stiff
arm and he's down at the forty seven forty eight
yard line along the sideline in front of the Seattle bench.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
That's a play that has been there all night long.
Speaker 21 (37:48):
The boot leg and coming out the backside to Dalton
Schultz who's on the back side of the plate, and
so you can it's there unless there's a blitz, all.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Right, let's get number seven and a guy that showed
up for the first time all year and well worth.
In fact, we'll have a little bit more from him
at number six. But it's Deniko Autrey getting a sack
late in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 20 (38:14):
Third down and seven from the Seahawks nine, and this
could be ballgame. Donald in the gun with Charbonay in
the backfield with him. Here's the snap, Here's a pass
rush Donald.
Speaker 13 (38:27):
In the end zone. Donald's gonna go down.
Speaker 20 (38:29):
Donald got across the goal line as Audrey gets him,
so it's not a safety. But Donald sacked deep and
the Texans will burn another time out twenty seven to
twelve day trail.
Speaker 21 (38:40):
This defense has played well at times tonight, well enough
for this team to win, for the Texans to win.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Okay, let's get to number six, and this is actually
a three play sequence right at the end of the half,
complementary football special teams in defense, offense special teams. And
it happened perfectly here. Jason Myers lined up to kick
a fifty three yard field goal. Now, earlier in the game,
(39:11):
I noticed that Nico Autry was getting kind of close
to blocking a field goal.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
In fact, I thought he blocked one of the extra points.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
So right before he's about to kick, I was waiting
for a little pause so I could tell Mark and
Andre hey, watch Autrey lo and behold. The first part
of number six Denico Autry blocking in the fifty three
yard field goal.
Speaker 20 (39:33):
Fifty three yards a miss would come in real handy
for the Texans. With twenty three seconds to go in
the half, Dixon will hold Flyers with the kick.
Speaker 13 (39:42):
From the left pass mark.
Speaker 20 (39:43):
It's blocked and it ends up on the Texans end
of the field, rolling to the end zone.
Speaker 13 (39:49):
It'll die there.
Speaker 20 (39:50):
So the Texans dodge this bullet and have the ball
with thirteen seconds left.
Speaker 13 (39:55):
Texans get the block.
Speaker 20 (39:58):
Autrey got his big hands on it, so welcome back
to Nico.
Speaker 13 (40:03):
Autry and at a big time.
Speaker 20 (40:06):
Comes up with a big field goal block, getting that
left hand of the air to knock the ball down.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
The next part of number six was the offense had
moved ball. How do they do that? Well?
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Jalen Knowle came up big with a twenty nine yard
catch on a throw from CJ.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Stroud. It's the second part of number six. Stroud of the.
Speaker 20 (40:24):
Gun one back Dari protecting from the fourty three yards
to me.
Speaker 13 (40:30):
Here's the snap to CJ stepping up Stroud throwing.
Speaker 20 (40:34):
Draft field and this is caught Jalen Knowle at the
twenty seven yard line and Jones with the tackle. Six
seconds to go, the Texans call time out.
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Let me tell you something that's just good.
Speaker 21 (40:47):
Quarterback Blake CJ steps up in the ind of the
pocket when he's getting rushed around the edges. It's just
an excellent way to play the position. You've been taught this.
And then the eyes are steal down the field enough
to put touch on the ball to Jalen Knowle.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
And the third part, of course, is the finisher by
Kaymi Fairbaard knocking it home, stealing three points basically before
the end of the half.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
That was complimentary football at its best.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
The final part at number six, Kymie fairban from forty
six to make it fourteen six to half.
Speaker 13 (41:25):
It'll be a.
Speaker 20 (41:25):
Forty six yard field goal attempt for the light hashback
for fairbar branking with the snap, Tommy with the hold.
Here's the spot. Here's the kick, plenty of leg on it,
and it's good. At the halftime buzzer, the Texans come
up with a block field goal a CJ. Stroud passed
to Jalen Knowle and an Emmy kick to make it
(41:46):
fourteen to six at the break.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
All right to get to number five and a guy
who told me probably two three weeks ago, I'm aging
like a fine one.
Speaker 4 (41:56):
MJ.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Stewart, MJ and Kamari combined on a tackle on Elijah Arroyo.
Arroyo easy for me to say. They kept ripping at
the football. Eventually the football gave way. Texans would get
on it. A big second half turnover, one of four
that they forced on the night.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
M J.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
Stewart coming up big here.
Speaker 13 (42:18):
Ball at the forty eight yard line of the Seahawks.
Speaker 20 (42:21):
Second down and fourteen after that six yard pickup by
sharbon A Donald shotgun set Sharbona in the backfield with
a bunch formation left now in motion to the right side,
goes Bobo. Donald fires over the middle, got a man
and drop. It's a fumble. Texans jumping on it. Lassener
might have it. Houston recovers, the Texans get another takeaway
(42:44):
and MJ.
Speaker 21 (42:45):
Stewart forced the fumble. It looked like A. ZS Is
going to be the guy with the football coming out
of the pile, but it was MJ. Stewart from his
safety spot that forced that ball out after the catch.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
It's get to number four and number twenty four Derek
Stingley Junior with another interception on the season. I believe
this is his second big time big pick dasting coming
to number four.
Speaker 20 (43:12):
Donald and the gun on first at eighteen from the
Seahawks thirty eight yard line. One back Charbaday. Donald's gonna throw.
He throws down field and it's picked off by Stingley
fifty forty five right side the forty stiff farm and
out of mountains at the thirty six yard line. Flag
comes down for the hands to the face and there's
(43:33):
a brawl of the bench area. Lots of push agains
shoving Texans sideline.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
All right, Let's get to another interception at number three
that I don't want to say change the game, but man,
it was not trending in a good direction at all,
and Kaylen Bullock came up with one of the better
interceptions you're gonna see. I mean what it catch. It
was as good a catch you Saul Night. Number three.
Kaylen Bullock's first interception the season.
Speaker 20 (43:57):
First down at the Houston twenty one Seahawk driving walker
in the backfield. Darnled under center and gives at the cup.
Who's gonna throw? He passes, it's picked off, go up
of course the twenty left sideline amount of bounds if
that's twenty three yard line. Kalen with the pick and
just what the Texans needed.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
All right, It's get to two.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
What he marks getting in the end zone again, making
himself available for CJ. Stroud, buying time to find him
in the end zone. This comes in number two.
Speaker 20 (44:30):
Higgins to the right, Bryant and Company bunch formation left
third and goal at the four straut of the gun.
Speaker 13 (44:37):
Marks in the backfield. CJ to throw.
Speaker 20 (44:39):
Looking looking, CJ doesn't like what he sees, wants to
scramble out to the right side, drops back deeper, throws
to the end zone, and it's caught what he marks, touchdown, Houston.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
They kept the dream alive. They kept it alive. Unfortunately
would die a few plays later. It's get the number
one complimentary football. Tommy Townsend punts and pins of Seahawks
inside the four when the Texans needed it, and Will
Anderson Junior came up with his first touchdown as a Texan.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
It's at number one.
Speaker 20 (45:12):
Third down and seven at the seven of Seattle. They'll
go empty. Here Darnald with cup in motion to the right.
Now Charmona motions into the backfield. I'm third and seven
from the Seahawks seven. Donald in the gun calling for
the ball. Here's the snap. Darnald at the goal line
pumping Donald in trouble and.
Speaker 13 (45:31):
Will Anderson has him down.
Speaker 20 (45:32):
The ball is out and Will Anderson has it for
a touchdown.
Speaker 13 (45:37):
Piston scores the terminator man.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
He is one hell of a player. His first touchdown
of his Texans career. All right, coming up, we're gonna
be an Energy Stadium again for the first time in
a long time. Last time we were there, a rookie
made the mark wood He Marks. We'll celebrate him next
right here at Texans All Access Matchup Edition, we won
final segment of this time XS All Access Matchup Edition.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
I'm your host shown Harris Footbayinal sideline reporter.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
And this show we always look ahead and look back
on it the same time.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
And here's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
We're gonna play Sunday at home for the first time
in a while. When we did it was the Woody
Marks Show.
Speaker 20 (46:19):
That day, Stroud Shotgun Marks to his right head off,
Woody gets a block, gets.
Speaker 13 (46:26):
The edge left side, Forty cuts inside thirty.
Speaker 20 (46:28):
Five spin move down to the thirty yard line, first down,
Woody marks. Blake Fisher checks in as the extra blocker.
Fourth down and one from the Houston forty six CJ
other center.
Speaker 13 (46:39):
Here's Woody over the left side.
Speaker 20 (46:40):
He's got the first down and extra to the forty
nine yard line.
Speaker 13 (46:44):
First down at the Titans twelve.
Speaker 20 (46:46):
Stroud and the gun fakes to give drop kid Off
Marks across.
Speaker 13 (46:50):
The five, Marks to the exode touchdown.
Speaker 20 (46:54):
Houston twelve yard TD pass to Woody Marks, jumps it.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Out of the backfield.
Speaker 20 (47:01):
Wood He marks across the thirty twenty five twenty. He's
got the first down of the cutback. What a catch
and run by Woody. Mars handoff Woody left side fifteen
to ten five dives into the end zone, his second
touchdown off the day.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
I will see your two sacks and I'll raise you
two touchdowns. Take that, Vandermer.
Speaker 20 (47:25):
Our power players are coming through, both of them.
Speaker 13 (47:29):
But I gotta tip my hat to you. Woody Marks
with the day.
Speaker 21 (47:33):
What a cun he just made to get himself into
the end zone.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
That was Salty.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Man's done some good things, score a touchdown against Seattle.
He has become a focal point for this offense, and
a big one. He'll have to prove it against San
Francisco on Sunday here at NRG Stadium, just like the
last time we were at NRG Stadium.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Appreciate you guys, Thank you so much. We'll see tomorrow
and as always, go Texans.
