Speaker 1 (00:00):
Twenty to nineteen.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
The Texans lose to Tampa Bay and drop to oh
and two for the first time since twenty twenty three.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
CJ. Strad throws for two hundred and seven yards.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Not enough, not enough on the ground, not enough through
the air, nineteen points after a nine point performance last week,
and the Buccaneers come away two and so once again
under Todd Bowles, they make this a habit one point victory.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Drey, What was the pass rush like tonight?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Ye our HB sack report. The Texans had four sacks
in today's game. They got the Baker Mayfield four times,
Daniel Hunter with two sacks, Will Anderson added another, and
then Sheldon Rankins capped things off with a sack of
his own. HB will donate one thousand dollars to the
Houston Food Bank every time the Texans sacked the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
The hib sack Attech.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's brought to you by HB, the official tailgate headquarters of.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
The Houston Texans.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
All right, Drey, here's a very telling stat that tells
the story of oh and two, two and nine on
third down this week and last week? What did we
say coming into tonight? A lot of things to convert.
But that was one of those things you have to
be better on third down and they weren't, especially when
you have it gold to go inside the one second

(01:13):
in goal and they come away with nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, that's tough. But the third down situations have to
fix itself. That has gotta be where you have success
on first down because you know teams one thing, it's
a copycat league, right. You hear that all the time
when they turn the film on and see in third
down and seven, third and six that you haven't had

(01:37):
success on first down. Guess what you're gonna get.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
In those situations.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
You're gonna get blitched, you're gonna get pressure and can
you hold up and deliver? Can you convert? And the
answer right now is they haven't. And so that's got
to get itself fixed in a hurry.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
And that's another reason why you're not running the ball
as well, because you don't get as many opportunities when
you're not converting those third downs. You get two more
third down conversions, get two or three more carries, makes
the numbers better. They ran for eighty four yards tonight,
and what was alarming was the Buccaneers running for one
sixty nine net Irving at seventy one. White had sixty five,
including the go ahead touchdown at the end. What gives

(02:15):
with the Texans run defense.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Dre Yeah, I think they just faced two backs, two
really good backs. It was a beat up offensive line.
They kind of knew how to handle Irving. I'm talking
about the Buccaneers and how to best utilize him along
with White coming into the game spelling him at times.
It's almost like they got to a point where they
were giving a possession to one and then the other

(02:37):
one would come back, and then if he got a
little tired in the possession, they would switch things off.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
But it kept a really good back.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Fresh and coming at the Texans at all times between
the two of them.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
What about CJ. Stroud today? Two h seven through the era,
a touchdown, no picks. He was harassed by this defense
at times. That's an offensive line thing. Passed protection whoever
has assigned those duties, if you will. But the passing game,
even though they got two oh seven, not clicking the
way they needed to. Nico Collins three catches, all right,
great with the touchdown he had another big one, But

(03:12):
nine targets, three catches, they're not connecting the way they
need to with him.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
No, I mean you still I think that's a good number.
I would like to see it get the double digits,
so one at least one more target, but the receptions
to go up with that. I just hope that CJ
doesn't get to the point where he starts to get
frustrated with with the not being able to to hold
with the line, not being able to hold up in

(03:36):
pass protection, because he's gonna, you know, you're gonna need
him to be focused, laser focused the entire year. And
if he starts to not look out there and he
starts looking in here, that's a problem. And uh, it's
it's tough. There are a certain situations second down and long,
third down and long he can you know, set his watch.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Pressure's coming.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And it happened tonight, it happened last week, and you
can best believe that the Jaguars it's gonna happen against
them as well when you get into those situations.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
What about Jacksonville up next, They lost to the Bengals,
but they put up points And you tell me, it's
a short week.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
How tough is that?

Speaker 3 (04:14):
It's tough? You know, you enjoy playing on Monday night,
hoping that you either have a bye week mark, you know,
or something coming behind it. But when you have to
play in six days, that's tough on the body. I
think this team is young enough to where they can
handle it. They'll bounce back and be ready to play
and hopefully we'll get a little bit better effort and

(04:35):
a closing to a game in Jacksonville when they go.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Up time of possession tonight ouch Tampa Bay thirty seven
h nine Texans twenty two to fifty one.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
That's not what they were looking for.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Twenty to That is a direct result of what we
started this segment talking about third downs. When you can't
convert and continue for third down and pick up a
first down to keep the clock running, you're gonna punt
it and the other team's gonna put I said longer
than you. The game shortens for you, but it makes
it easier on your opponent.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
The Bucks were six to fourteen on third down. That's
not awesome at all, but it was better than what
the Texans did, and they had the fourth and ten
conversion on the final drive.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Need we say more?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Texans lose twenty to nineteen to drop to zero to two,
