Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's happened? Everybody?

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Welcome in to another edition of Texans All Access Matchup Edition.
I'm your host, John Harris, football analyst, sideline reporter for
your Houston Texans.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
A little sobering Tuesday morning.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
As we deal with oh in two, right out to shoot,
five point loss out in La gut Punch, and then
last night at twenty to nineteen loss to the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night football where nothing was going
right until the fourth quarter. Block a punt kick, a
field goal, get a stop, Jalen Noel the great punt return,

(00:35):
get a touchdown, don't get the two, fourth and ten
for the Bucks. Can't wrap up Baker Mayfield, he drives
him down and Rashad White sticks the dagger in with
six seconds left in the games the Texans.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Go and fall to oh and two.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Now, we'll do the ultimate eleven of that game a
little later in the show, but on this show we'd
look back. We also look ahead. So it's Jacksonville come
up on Sunday. We've had some success there the last
few years. We'll look back at some plays made in
the last few years against Jacksonville that we will need
on Sunday going down there to take on a very

(01:12):
explosive and talented Jaguars team. Don't know how good at
that team is, but it is very talented, that is
for sure. They're coming off a loss to the Bengals,
and that's actually where we're going to start tonight as
we go back through Week two in the NFL. One
of the great games on Sunday was the Jacksonville Jaguars

(01:33):
going to take on the Cincinnati Bengals, and it looked
early on like the Jaguars were going to come home
with win number two when Trevor Lawrence found Bayshelle Touton
for his first touchdown as a.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Rookie, second down, seven from the eight, shotgunning an empty backfield.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Now to motions back to the backfield, so he stands
to the left.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Of Trevor Lawrence.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Here Trevor drops looking screens it out to the left
side too, made.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
A man mesk got into the five yard life put
to the end zone. Touchout.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Baseiell two admit a terrific move after catching it and
then it sploded into the end zone and Jacksonville has
retaking the lead.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
What a move in the open field. It's not even
a screen. It's just a dump pass.

Speaker 6 (02:21):
And when Baseell Tuton gets the ball, he's got a
defensive end camp Sample out there trying to cover him
an open space and camp Sample's underwear are on the field.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Touton is in the end zone. Celebrate, boy, you are.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Right an eight yard touchdown pass. What a move by
Touton for the score.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
That's my man.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Frank Frangie on the call that would give the Jags
a fourteen to seven lead. And then it got worse
for the Cincinnati Bengals when this happened.

Speaker 7 (02:52):
I mean, Joe Burrow is under pressure and getting hit
and nearly every dropback Heinzellen and Walker came from the
end on that passing play.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
He's getting pressured and hit, and then after he does
deliver the ball, his receivers are getting smacked around. I mean,
the Jacksville Jaguars came in here. Liam Cohen, as the
head coach, says, this a callimy, that's the word of
the day. That's the ward that's going to carry us
to victory in this football game on the road, and
they are living up to it.

Speaker 7 (03:21):
Heinz Allen was the seventh pick in the draft. Several
years ago out of Kentucky. Second down and twenty Burrow
catches a shotgun snap pump fakes and Joe will be
sacked at the thirty five yard line or Eric Armstead
pulling him down by the feet.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Four jaguars are around him, I mean all four of
the jaguars within an arm's length of Joe.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Burrow, and Burrow's limping.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah, you can't have that limping badly.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I mean it's you know, you just can't. You can't
do that and give your quarterback.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
Joe takes his helmet off and sits down on the turf.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
Well, hopefully you just kind of rolled ankle a little bit,
and that's what he's kind was pointing out that left ankle.

Speaker 7 (04:04):
Jake Browning begins warming up. The last time these two
teams played was the Jake Browning game. Now Burrow lays
down on his back and the training staff is looking
at his lower left leg.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
He was flexing his left ankle, flexing his left foot
and left ankle on his own, doing it pretty easily.
He's already up and working off the field under his
own par I think he's going to be okay.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
Well, he's moving gingerly toward the Bengals sideline. I think
we're going to see Jake Browning. We're certainly going to
see him for at least one play. Yep, we'll see
how many. It turns out to be eight thirty six
left in the half, Joe Burrow under constant pressure, getting
hit multiple times and coming out of the game at
the eight thirty six mark of the second quarter.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So into the game, Jake Browning would enter down fourteen
to seven, but got it to seventeen ten, and then
Browning made his residents.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Felt throwing to Mitchell Tinsley.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, Mitchell Tinsley with arguably the catch of the day
to tie it at seventeen for the Bengals.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
First and ten from.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
The thirteen yard line at Cincinnati, looks for a tying touchdown.
Browning floats it toward the end zone.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
And it is.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Caught for the touchdown.

Speaker 9 (05:21):
Mitch Tinsley with his first NFL catch and it goes
for a touchdown in the back right corner of the
end zone.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
How about Jake Browning.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
He goes to Tinsley first of all, they've worked together
lock in practice, and Timseley rewards him with the one
handed he gets the right foot down, for sure? Does
left foot come down and drag heal down? O? One
foot down for sure? And he pulled that ball in

(05:52):
and I think they're looking at it. Touchdowns are automatically
checked out. I don't think he got that left foot down.
He just got one foot down and had to catch
one handed catch and one foot down and needed two
in the NFL.

Speaker 7 (06:03):
I think you're right, Lap. I don't think the touchdown
is going to stand.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And that's unfortunate. In love, So she Tensley works hard.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Wow, it is, it's confirmed.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
How about it?

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Oh, he got the What he did is you got
the foot knee and the foot knee foot in the
equals two feet, so he got the foot knee down
before he shoot.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Out val eight man.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
That was one heck of a catch by Tinsley, But
the Jaguars fired right back in that third quarter as
Travis etn the other half of the combo in Jacksonville,
took it in from eleven yards out on a throw
from Trevor Lawrence to give the Jags a twenty four
to seventeen lead.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Second down on the yard mt backfield four to the left,
one of the right.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
This is an interesting formation.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Now, they'll most you Etn a little bit and throw
a screen out to him to the left side into
the ten to the five yard line, Travis Dn into
the end zone, Turk through a wide receiver screen to
a running back who was lined up out there, and
he's into the end zone.

Speaker 10 (06:58):
For the far outstanding job of window dressing.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
They have Ehn out wide.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
They bring him in motion and when the motion happens,
there's a communication about switching recoverage responsibilities and everything by
the Bengals, and Etn makes the catch once he goes
back out and then makes a great cut getting to
the end zone.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
But Jake Browning and the Bengals kept fighting back.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
And when you've got Jamar chasing t Higgins, it makes
it a little easier. As Browning found t Higgins from
forty two yards out to tie it again at twenty
four third and.

Speaker 7 (07:33):
Five, Chase brown out some i JP ride in two
receivers to each side of the formation. The ball's on
the right, Hash Harris snaps it back to Browning from
the pocket.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
He flings it deep down.

Speaker 9 (07:44):
The sideline chase with the catch still on his feet.
Naked Higgins he'll walk into the end zone for off
Bengals touchdown.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
How about Tee getting it done?

Speaker 5 (07:57):
I mean, he ran just a a go route right
up the sideline, just inside the five yard white out
on a bounds marker, and he grant looked nice little
outside fake take it up to the inside. He's got
tremendous lateral movement for a guy his size when he's
running routes. And he had the Jacksonville Jaguars on.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
Their heels a forty two yard strike Jake Browning to
t Higgins, Te's first touchdown catch of the year after
having ten a year ago despite missing five games.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
The Jaguars kicked the field will make it twenty seven
to twenty four, and had the ball down deep trying
to put a touchdown on the board, and decided to
skew the fue goal and go for the touch I
agreed with it at the time, but Brian Thomas Junior
dropped the fourth down pass.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
The Bengals would take over.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Drive down the field, got a big pass interference penalty
called on Travis Hunter and that kept the drive alive.
The Bengals then got a first down inside the one
yard line. Now it was just a matter could they
punch it in from the one. Well, the Bengals did
what the Texans couldn't on Monday Night, as Jake Browning
went over the top with just a few seconds left

(09:12):
to give the Bengals a thirty one to twenty seven
win over the Jaguars.

Speaker 7 (09:18):
Jake Browning will be under center, Chase brown lines up
behind how sample goes behind the quarterback and shoves him.

Speaker 8 (09:25):
Hit a touchdown Jake Browning with eighteen seconds left and
regulation has given them the Bengals their first lead all day.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
And he comes out with a smile of his face
and rightfully so wellmer well to sir.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
And he is celebrating with his teammates and will.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Say, come to the sideline, up and over quarterback sneak,
go up and over the defensive lineman. Have the ball
out in trutt Once the ball crosses the plane, it's
you lose control of it. It doesn't matter. It's touchdown. Great
job by Jake Browning executing that play.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
What Ken Browning do for you? Right?

Speaker 7 (10:07):
A ninety two yard touchdown drive to give the Bengals
the lead. A key extra point is good and that
gives Cincinnati a four point lead with eighteen seconds left
and Jacksonville is out.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Of timeouts, Browning stepped in again for the second time
in three years. Browning beat the Jaguars. Remember in twenty
twenty three, when the Texans were chasing the Jaguars, they
needed the Bengals to go down to Duval County with
Browning and beat the Jags, and he did a last
second field goal. Browning was outstanding in that game. He

(10:43):
was outstanding in this game, leads them to a win.
Bengals moved to two to oh without Joe Burrow. Burrow
now going to be out about three months, but Jake
Browning at two and oh in the Bengals Jaguars fall
to one to one. The Texans will take on the
Jaguars on Sunday in Duval County one of the other
games of the day, and my wife happened to be

(11:05):
watching this game with me, and it was like wow,
I didn't even know she was watching.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I thought she was just on her phone hanging out.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
The Giants taking on the Cowboys, and she was like
losing it some of the things that were happening in
this game.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
And the Giants started hot, especially when Russell.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Wilson found the leak neighbors to give the Giants a
thirteen to three lead.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
In the second quarter.

Speaker 11 (11:27):
First in tennoth the Dallas twenty nine Giants up six
to three. Wilson calls signal scataboo to his left, pumps
his right leg, takes the snap back to throw lobs
a downfield.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
He's got neighbors in the end that makes the catch
for the touchdown.

Speaker 12 (11:47):
Beat digs off the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Twenty nine yards.

Speaker 10 (11:52):
Let the record show with five point thirty seven ago
on the second quarter of the first touchdown of the
year goes to my leak neighbor and the Giants lead
it twelve to three with the extra point pending.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
But the Cowboys this year have Dak Prescott back and
that has made all the difference. They gave Philly all
they could handle on opening night, and Prescott answered back
to cut it to thirteen to ten. On this dot
to Cavante Turpin in the end zone to make it
thirteen to ten.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
And so let's redo third down and nine from the ten.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
That's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Tolbert in motion, I mean a turpet in motion of
the right.

Speaker 13 (12:32):
He stops Prescott is changing this play Prescott's in an
empty gun, Giants got in the neutral zone, free play,
zips it into the end zone, balls caught by Turpin
for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
They're having a long discussion.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
If it's a neutral film in faction and then looked
like that.

Speaker 14 (13:01):
Left side, you've number ninety five penalty's decline.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
At the play that's down.

Speaker 13 (13:08):
Okay, so Roy Robertson Harris, who was called for one
of those six fouls the Giants committed that didn't count
for anything on the play before.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
And then that count.

Speaker 14 (13:18):
That doesn't in count either is a penalty technically because
you decline it.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Oh, that's true. But I'd like to see how many
penalties the Giants have.

Speaker 14 (13:26):
There's accepted penalties and penalties called.

Speaker 13 (13:28):
All right, here's a ton touchdown from Prescott to Turpin.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
It's ourry guy, Brad Sham on the call for the Cowboys,
calling that one to make it thirteen to ten. It
got a little better for the Cowboys a little while
later when Javonte Williams, I think a very underrated signing
for the cow for anybody, actually, Javante Williams goes thirty
yards in the end zone. This in the third quarter

(13:53):
would give the Cowboys a seventeen thirteen lead.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
First down at the Giants.

Speaker 13 (13:56):
Thirty motion now from Olbert inside, hand off Javonte Williams
and he breaks free and.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Williams has a head of steam and Williams.

Speaker 15 (14:06):
To the end zone and Javonte Williams, running hard, took
it home thirty yards.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
For Javonte Williams and the Cowboys regained the league.

Speaker 12 (14:22):
You know.

Speaker 14 (14:22):
And Tyler Smith just got paid yesterday. And Tyler Smith
just comes out, he pulls and he just destroys this man.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
That really is what opens up the hole.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Now, everybody did their.

Speaker 14 (14:33):
Job, but Tyler Smith just basically pancaked the defender there.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
I couldn't see who it was, but what a great
job by him.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
But the Giants have a rookie running back that I
would imagine everybody in the Tri state area absolutely loves.
His name is Cam Scataboo. Man loved him in Arizona State.
Being in New York with the Giants just fits perfectly.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
He was a star in this game.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
And he punched it over from one yard out to
let the Giants take a twenty three to twenty lead
in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 10 (15:08):
First of goal Giants out the one, Wilson back in Scattaboo.
The Tailbots hand off, Scattaboo runs.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Up into the n zone standing up.

Speaker 15 (15:17):
How the Giants are back in front with twelve oh
seven a go, Scattaboo's first career touchdown.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
This is all.

Speaker 12 (15:30):
This is all on the offensive line here, Bob, This
offensive line, this series of football was as good as
we've seen them.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
After a Miles Sanders four yard touchdown gave the Cowboys
the lead back at twenty seven to twenty three, the
Giants faced a fourth down outside the red zone. Just
got to pick up the first down, right, think it
was like fourth and six. Russell Wilson decided to reach
back and find Russell Wilson of twenty thirteen, and he

(16:00):
threw it deep and the Cowboys somehow let Wandale Robinson
get behind them to give them a thirty to twenty
seven lead. Let's hear what Bob Poppa the voice the
Giants had to say about this one.

Speaker 11 (16:14):
So now the Giants are gonna go for it with
two fifty.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
To go in the game. I have to go for it.

Speaker 10 (16:23):
Down by four, fourth down, four yards to go from
the Dallas thirty two. Wilson takes the snaff back. Luke's
one down the right side. He's got Robinson in the
end zone.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Touchdown.

Speaker 16 (16:44):
Giants on a fourth and four ward down. Robinson with
a thirty.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Two yard touchdown catching the Giants are back in front.

Speaker 12 (16:57):
Great play call, good blocking up front by this offensive
lie Bop Russell Wilson downed it up.

Speaker 10 (17:08):
He could throw that deep ball Wandel Robinson having a
career day.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
And he just went right up under it, as if
it wasn't nutty enough already. It continued that way as
Dak Prescott then went the other way, found George Pickens
from six yards out to let the Cowboys take the
lead back from the Giants.

Speaker 13 (17:32):
Lpkey on Prescott's right, Williams the deep back tight end
in motions, Prescott back throws to the left side of
the anti.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Picking Tennis throws down to cut them up.

Speaker 17 (17:42):
He had a.

Speaker 15 (17:42):
Touchdown two Pickens. Oh what a great route, excellent throw.
Cowboys with the lead with fifty two seconds to go.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Is it too much time?

Speaker 14 (17:56):
See if they don't review this one, Brad, I don't
know that the ball.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Got into the m zone and the ball is the tee?
Can you say yes? Yeah? Well walking again. Yeah, the
ball's over the strike. Wow did and he.

Speaker 14 (18:11):
Had he had control and possession.

Speaker 13 (18:14):
Yeah, that's a tremendous catch on a perfect throw with
fifty two seconds to left.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
The seconds left, fifty two seconds left, No problem. We
got a lot of football that can happen in fifty
two seconds. So when the Giants get the ball back,
Russell Wilson decided, bleep it, I just need another long throw.
He found maleak neighbors to give the Giants a thirty

(18:40):
seven thirty four. Seemingly it's over right. Well, the Giants
kind of thought.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
So fans on.

Speaker 10 (18:48):
Their feet, two receivers left, neighbors split right, two deep
safety look Wilson out of the shotgun, set on a second.

Speaker 13 (18:56):
And ten.

Speaker 10 (18:58):
Drops back, has time deep ball downfield looking for neighbors.

Speaker 16 (19:03):
Who makes the touch for the touchdown and double coverage
forty eight yard touchdown pass Wilson neighbors.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Have the Giants take the league?

Speaker 18 (19:14):
Oh boy, there were two defenders draped down of Carl
and Russell Wilson with his classic moonball delivers for the
Giants right on target.

Speaker 12 (19:27):
Heck of a play. But I'll tell you what the
league neighbors. That's why he's here. The playmaker is being
able to make a play like that. Ain't many people
that can do that. And Russell Wilson credit that offensive
line too.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
But I mentioned earlier Dak Prescott is back and with
one launching his arm, they got the ball to about midfield,
to the other side of midfield. Then it was time
for Brandon Aubrey to show off that massive howitzer right leg.
He's got to tie the game at thirty seven from

(20:02):
sixty four.

Speaker 14 (20:04):
Bobby has three sixty yard kicks to his credit. He
needs number four here.

Speaker 13 (20:09):
This is I'm the left hash sixty four for the
time or it's the last play of the game. Snap
hold sixty four, sweet mutter. But don't worry.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
To resign the kickers.

Speaker 19 (20:32):
Whatever you do, oh man, there have been two kickers
now who have four sixty yard.

Speaker 14 (20:44):
Field goals to their name in NFL history. Both of
them kicked for the Cowboys, Gret Maher and Brandon Aubrey.
You want to kick and nothing, I fill in the blank.
It had distance to spare unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Now, they showed a shot from a camera that was
right down the back line of the end zone and
I'm telling you that thing is good. From seventy plus,
he hit an absolute rocket shot, I mean rocket shot.
So we go to over time, and that's when Donovan
Wilson got the better of Russell Wilson with this interception snap.

Speaker 13 (21:25):
To Wilson looking no pressure at all, deep ball down
the middle of ten seven pund by Donovan Wilson at
the Dallas thirty Will Wonder's never ceased.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
I'm not trying where Wilson was trying to throw that one.
He's not militite neighbors up the left sideline. But this
ball gets thrown. It's Paul right at about the numbers.
I mean it's off the mark five about fifteen yards.
I don't know if the pressure got.

Speaker 14 (21:53):
To Wilson a little bit and affected it, but it's
nowhere near Malik neighbors.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Then if you seconds later, a few minutes later, Aubrey
game winner this won a chip shot to him from
forty six yards out to give the Cowboys a forty
to thirty seven win.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Okay, right, hash forty six win the game in about
ten seconds. I can tell you four seconds left in overtime.
Good operation forty six. The kick wins the game. Better, Better, better, better,
extra better.

Speaker 15 (22:31):
Cowboys win in overtime forty to thirty seven.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
An't you glad you played attention to this skin? Wow?

Speaker 14 (22:42):
Honestly what a football game?

Speaker 4 (22:44):
That second half to got crazy.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Cowboys moved to one in one. Brian Schottenhammer gets his
first winners a head coach. Giants fall to zero to
two in a hella interesting game that took place down
in Dallas. Should say up in Dallas because I'm in Houston,
so yeah, up in Dallas. But forty to thirty seven.
Giants didn't score a touchdown in the first game against Washington,

(23:09):
turned around and really put it together offensively, but it
wasn't enough as the defense. The defense fades against a
Dallas offense. And look, maybe Jerry was right. Maybe Dak
Prescott is exactly what that team needed, and that I
don't want to say it didn't need Michaeh.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
Parsons.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Probably do need Michael Parsons, but the other day they
didn't because they had Dak Prescott and that was good enough,
all right. The other game of the day took place
in Indianapolis, where the Indianapolis Colts were taking on the
Denver Broncos, and it started great for the Broncos. Great,

(23:51):
I mean awesome. This is the best way you could
start a game. Monik's finding Marvin Mims for a touchdown
at three. Knicks takes the shotgun snap, throws a deep
ball left end.

Speaker 20 (24:00):
Zone, passes caught, and that is a Denver touchdown.

Speaker 21 (24:05):
That is Marvin Mims on a perfectly thrown strike eight
yards deep in the end zone, a catch of twenty
three yards, and the Broncos bounce back in front. Xavian
Howard beaten on the play by the speech the Marvin Mims.
You couldn't have walked down and handed it to Mims
anymore accurately from bow Nicks.

Speaker 22 (24:28):
And Howard is their best cornerback out there. Three time
Pro bowler. Mims had two steps on him, and Nix
delivered the ball right where he had to for that touchdown.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
I thought that was it. That was the style. Okay,
the Colts aren't the Colts aren't all that. They're not
all that.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
But they bounced back and when Daniel Jones busted this
one in from one yard out, they were up thirteen
to seven.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Second down and goal with the one again.

Speaker 23 (24:54):
Jones under center takes the snap, trying to put the
ball across the goal line, there's.

Speaker 24 (25:00):
Sitting on finally touchdown, Daniel Jones with his third quarterback
keeper for a touchdown in the early going of the season,
and the Colts with their first.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Touchdown of the afternoon today.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
They now lead twelve to seven. That's the first touchdown.

Speaker 25 (25:16):
Denver's giving up, as I said, one hundred and sixty
three yards in the first quarter basically, and one thing
that's critical. I talked so much about first down in
the pregame. The Colts are nine for thirteen successful plays
on first down, nine for thirteen, so you know they're.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Balling it and they finally pounded it in.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
But the Broncos would respond Troy Franklin touchdown, Adam Troupman touchdown.
They would go up twenty one thirteen. But Danny Dimes
then went to work and he found an unlikely pass
catcher out of the backfield, a guy the Colts haven't
used much in the passing game.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
That would be Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
This touchdown pass to Taylor gave the Colts a twenty
one to twenty lead.

Speaker 23 (26:02):
So Daniel Jones has the troops of the line of
scrimmage indian Napolis going left to right. Jonathan Taylor's is
back to the right side. Ball on the left hash
two receivers to the right. Now Josh Downs a motion
to the left side. Shotguns Snapp for the quarterback roll
list wide open Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
He's gotta walk in touch down MD. Why a receiving
score for Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 23 (26:25):
It's now the Broncos twenty one and the Colts nineteen.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Great job.

Speaker 25 (26:30):
There ran a mess route, which means everybody was crossing.
The linebackers got involved underneath. They totally lost sight of
Jonathan coming out of the backfield. Had another great drive.
Really our offense. We got well over two hundred and
fifty yards in this first half.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
All that taking place in the first half and then
the second half it turned into kind of a defensive
blood bat.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
But the Broncos got loose in. JK.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Dobbins now with the Broncos, busted in from five yards
out to give the Broncos a twenty eight to twenty lead.

Speaker 20 (27:06):
Tight trips left Dobbins behind. Nicks under center takes a
hand up running right side.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Dobbins to the goal line. Touchdown Denver. Great job on
that right side.

Speaker 20 (27:19):
Makai Blackman makes the tackle, Dobbins gets up, congratulates his
offensive lineman and tight ends. And that's exactly what the
doctor ordered. A sixty yard touchdown drive capped off by
the five yard run from JK.

Speaker 22 (27:36):
Dobbins and Courtland's Sutton out there too, get in the
block at the goal line, but.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
A couple of field goals full for the Colts cut
it to twenty eight to twenty six. The Broncos got
the ball back if they could kick a field goal
that would give them a five point lead and force
the Colts to have to score a touchdown on the
final drive Will Lutz from forty two yards out to

(28:04):
give him a five point.

Speaker 17 (28:08):
No.

Speaker 23 (28:09):
And now it's fourth and nine and Will Lutz is
on for a very manageable field goal here, and this
is going to be a right around a forty two
yard effort. Denver leads by two, twenty eight to twenty six.
This first field goal try today, this one is up,
has plenty of legs.

Speaker 26 (28:26):
Pit down, press down, hit off the right pride, He
poked it off the right up price and the Colts
still remain by only down.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Two pin a rocket, all right, that looks like a screwball.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
I've never seen a kick widen out to the right
like that.

Speaker 24 (28:46):
It looked like it was going right down the middle and.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
It beered off to the right. Still a two point
lead for the Broncos. As the Coats got the ball
late to drive down. All they need is a fuel goal,
but they could only get and it felt like they
were settling on about the forty two to forty three
yard line.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Oh man. Really, they did not push away at timeouts.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
They had everything at their disposal, and they really settled
for a sixty yard field goal attempt for Spencer Strader.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
And he missed.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
I jumped off the couch. I'm cheering, and all of
a sudden, I hear my wife go, hey, there's a flag.
Oh no, there's a flag. DJ Jones hit the long
snapper moving up fifteen yards and Spencer Strader did this
to win it at the gun.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Personal leverage defensive said, aught about a first down.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Fifteen yard er, old boy.

Speaker 23 (29:55):
So it makes a sixty yard field goal down to
about a forty five yard hard field goal. The penalty
is on and Yoma Alaza Riquez and this is much
more manageable here for Spencer Strader. This is a forty
five yard try to win the game, no time left
on the clock. Colts down by two. Twenty eight, twenty

(30:16):
six forty five yard field goal. Here sand chance to
put it down. Here's the snap kick us on its
way headed for the Uphights.

Speaker 16 (30:27):
Gone the field goal.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Spencer Strader wins it for the Colts.

Speaker 26 (30:35):
Colt twin twenty nine, twenty eight fall game. Y, Why.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
I love my dude, Matt Taylor, Man, but I can't
take it. I cannot take it. I cannot take listening
to the Colts win a game that way, man. Colts
move to two to oh, Broncos fall to one and
one on the season. We'll see both those teams down
the road. That was a hell of a win for
the Colts at home. Squeez that one out over a
playoff team from last year. So congrats to them. For now,

(31:04):
all right, we get back. We do have to revisit
Monday night's game, the Ultimate eleven.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Boy. There were a lot of great plays in this game,
just not enough to get a win. We'll do that
next right here at Texans All Access.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
What's up and.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Everybody, Welcome back to this edition of Texans All Access Matchup. Addition,
where we like to look back and look ahead all
at the same time. And it's time for our weekly
Ultimate eleven from this previous week's game against the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers. But here's the thing, man, there were a

(31:38):
lot of really impressive moments in this game, to a
point where I feel like I came up with a
really good ultimate eleven. Now that I understand is frustrating here.
It's frustrating to say, but that being what it is,
it is matchup. We always do Ultimate eleven. We stay
true to it. So let's do it. Start at number
eleven where Sheldon Rankins got loose for his first sack.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Of the year.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
Big down, early third quarter.

Speaker 17 (32:03):
Here with the Texans down fourteen ten at home, third
down and four bucks from their forty eight, Mayfield shotgun
one pack. Irving Mayfield takes the snap. Mayfield's got a
little time now, pocket collapses, he escapes to the right side.
Eddie trips down. He was tripped down by Sheldon Rankins
backfield penetration. They get Mayfield to the ground and the

(32:26):
Texans forced up putt.

Speaker 27 (32:28):
That's a heck of a play by Rankins, because if
Mayfield gets away or he's able to keep his balance,
he may run for the first down.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
That's why that play by Sheldon Rankins was such a
big one. Right there.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Deue's playing well the first two weeks. Glad he's back
with his team. He's made some big time plays. All right,
let's get number ten.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Now.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
If you've been listening to this show for a while,
you know my caveat at number ten in the ultimate
eleven if the Texans unfortunately taken l I give number
ten as an homage to the biggest play made on
the other side. That to me would be the fourth
and ten late in the game, Baker Mayfield, the escape

(33:10):
to get out, the speed to get the first down.
This to me was the biggest play the Bucks had
all night long.

Speaker 17 (33:18):
Fourth and ten Buccaneers. From there, thirty two Mayfield with
three receivers to the right side. He's under gun one
back Mayfield to pass. Here's heavy pressure. Mayfield escapes up
the middle, running across the forty running across the forty five,
tripped up at the forty seven yard life first down.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Buccaneers CJ.

Speaker 17 (33:34):
Gardner Johnson got him down a minute eleven ago o
clock is what I still.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Don't know how he got out of there. I don't
know how we didn't make the tackle, but Baker Mayfield
made it happen. I'm not ashamed to say I love
that guy. I hate the fact that he was on
the opponent last night, but I cheer for that dude
every single time he plays a game. And that's the
reason why right there, he's never given up. He got
shaft in Cleveland. He went to Carolina, really didn't get

(34:00):
chance there. Those two teams really still looking for a
quarterback answer, although Bryce Young looks like he's doing some
good things in Carolina. He went to the Rams, and
I think it was that Thursday night game with the
Rams where he had about forty eight hours to get
himself ready to play, got himself ready to play, led
the Rams from behind. I think they gave the Bucks,
hey man, this guy kid gave him a thought that

(34:20):
he could be pretty good.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
And maybe we can do something with him.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
One year, four million dollars with the Bucks in twenty
twenty three, and he's been worth every dime ever since.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
He was magnificent.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
And that is an homage to not only the Bucks,
but to Baker Mayfield, because he was really, really good
last night, also really good at number nine rookie Jalen
Nolan has kickoff returns.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
He had two stellar ones. One that started off the game.

Speaker 17 (34:45):
The place kicker for the Buccaneers, Chase Chase McLoughlin, ready
to kick off.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
Has the ball team at the thirty five yard line.
He'll kick off to what they know what that ends up.
McLoughlin gets the side and we are ready to rock
right at our team stadium.

Speaker 17 (35:00):
Over the five left side, ten fifteen, cutting right twenty
all the way across the field twenty five for a
hole thirty thirty five, and he's had a bounce across
the thirty six yard riders Jones makes the force good
return there by the rookie Noles and then.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
His second one a little while later in the first half.

Speaker 17 (35:17):
Here we go with McLoughlin set to kick off toward
the north end zone. Jaialen Noll back deep with Traymont
Smith inside the five, and here's McLoughlin getting out that
pitched seven iron. Nol at the seven left side over
the ten to fifteen, cutting right twenty looking for another hole,
has the twenty five stiff farm thirty and out of
bounds across the thirty five yard line. Another terrific job

(35:39):
by the rookie Jalen Nole.

Speaker 27 (35:41):
Gonna mark him just shy of the thirty five, right
around the thirty four, but still a great return. And
I mean it opened up. You could see it from
our vantage point, just kind of how the hole opened up.
He came started to his left, came right back to
the right side and put him in great field position
to start this drive.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Then it was time for the Texans to kick off
to the Buccaneers and that's when EJ.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Speed lowered the boom. I mean, this is a hit.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I saw this from about twenty yards away and it
just oh, I mean, oh, crowd, you'll hear it in
this clip.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
This comes at number eight.

Speaker 17 (36:20):
Here, it's Fairbarn's kickoff from ever left to right and
it's taken by Johnson over the ten fifteen right side
twenty and flatten Christian Harris with a finishing hit inside
the twenty four yard line.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
EJ.

Speaker 17 (36:34):
Speed gets there first, so linebackers on special teams making
a difference here. Oh yeah, EJ got him and then
Harris came into the frame of view, but Dary got
his feet first and kind of set up the leverage
on the hit.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Good special teams play.

Speaker 17 (36:54):
Now the Bucks backed up to their twenty three yard
line instead of their thirty five on the touchback the
way the previous drive began.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
That more like it.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
All right, let's get to number seven. Now Baker does
a lot of scrambling, and when he does well, it's problematic.
But now when Daniel Hunter can yoke him down from behind,
this is incredible sack to get the ball out. Daniel
Hunter was magnificent. He's been magnificent for two weeks. Now
got to is one hundredth sacked. Then he added another
one later on, so one hundred and one and a

(37:23):
half for Daniel Hunter. Here's one of those coming at
number seven, third down of.

Speaker 4 (37:28):
Three from the forty eight yard line of Tampa Bay.

Speaker 17 (37:31):
Rashod White motions into the backfield bunch formation right Mayfield
and the gun. Mayfield takes the snap, Mayfield stepping up,
escaping to the right side, and the ball is out.
There's a fight for it.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
There's a scrub Ford who's got it.

Speaker 17 (37:44):
The Bucks recover back at the forty two yard line
as as he's Al Shier tags down for Shod White.
But that was good news overall, as the Bucks are
gonna put it away and White is down.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Man, Texas could have gone on that ball. That would
have been nice. Capitol in capitol I capital c capital E.
All right, it's getting number six. And I happen to
be down in the north end for this one, and
I could see it. I could see CJ. Rolling to
his right trying to get out of pressure, and then
I could see Higgins. I can see Jayden Higgins wide open.

(38:17):
I'm like, man, if he gets this to him, he's
got a lot of room to run. He did huge
play on the drive that the Texans would take all
the way down to the half yard line.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Here strouded Higgins at number six.

Speaker 17 (38:27):
Here we go with the Texans down four to open
the final frame of the night. Dropping the backfield, CJ.
Stroud under center bunch formation wide side right. Here's motion
to the left side by Higgins. CJ digs in thanks
to give boots out to the right. Stroud on the
roll and he hits Higgins across the forty five forty

(38:49):
thirty five thirty breaks up tackle twenty five, still going
flipped up at the twenty two yard line. The rookie
Jaden Higgins with the catch and run first down and
then saw I'm at the twenty three yard line up
Tampa Bay.

Speaker 27 (39:05):
Like hell there that he had confidence to go to
the rookie and he made Leavonte David miss him and
picked up some more Yak yards.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
All Right, it's getting number five and a rookie who
is starting to emerge. And you know how I feel
about Woody Marx. It happened on Draft Day Saturday. I
lost my mind. I love Woody Marks. This was an
opportunity to get him out in the past game and
it finally clicked. I think there's more of this coming.
Stroud the march for thirty seven. On the field goal

(39:39):
drive in the first.

Speaker 17 (39:39):
Quarter, Texans get to the line second down at six
from the Houston forty five yard line. Straut of the gun,
marks to his left bunch formation right Cja to throw
look game and airs it out left side. Pitts Marx
across the forty five left side line forty thirty twenty
five and inside the twenty yard line before he's brought
down with the big catch and run for the Houston.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
Texans. Dean with the finish and Houston is in the
red zone.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
All right's getting Later in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Texans down's now looking great, but they forced a punt,
and earlier in the game, I remember I calocked this
when I saw Yakub Johnson get close to the punter
almost blocking it. I remember him kind of snapping his
fingers like dang I was close. Well, later in the
game he did get it. This is a huge moment
with the Texans block of punt. We couldn't figure it

(40:31):
out at first. I was the one for some reason,
all the way down the field. I was all the
way down to the south end.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
I saw it.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
I could see Yakub get close, and I remembered him
getting close earlier, so I felt like, yes, I kept
telling Mark Yakub Johnson, Yakub Johnson.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
We eventually figured it out. It is Yakub Johnson who
blocked the punt.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Back to punt. This is Riley Dixon. You gotta handle
this punt.

Speaker 17 (40:52):
Bucks were all spread out with their punt protection team.
Texans loading up Riley Dixon inside the third one yard line.
It waits to snap, it's on target, and he just
gets rid of it.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
It's blocked. It goes off to the side and.

Speaker 17 (41:07):
It's picked up by the Houston Texans.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
They block it, Watson got over there. Jake Hansen, Wow.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
When they almost got one earlier.

Speaker 17 (41:22):
Jamal Hill getting in there, getting a big piece. It's
squatted out of there to the left, and Watson recovered it.

Speaker 27 (41:32):
For the Houston Texans, Jakub Johnson had blocked the punt.

Speaker 4 (41:36):
It was guys everywhere.

Speaker 17 (41:39):
Punter Dixon got spun around and the Texans have the
ball at the thirty five yard line.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
Looked like he was getting that off, but then it
just blasted off to the side.

Speaker 27 (41:47):
Well, as I mentioned, they were they almost got one earlier,
and he's just too comfortable to and taking his time,
and the Texans since it and able to get there.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Texans would kick a field goal to make it fourteen
to thirteen with about five twenty two left in the game.
So Buccaneers get the ball back, get a little drive,
and nothing really happens with their drive. They got a punt,
and I remember thinking after a block punt, that's the
best time for a return because everybody's all panicked about

(42:18):
making the blocks that they don't get out of cover.

Speaker 17 (42:21):
And Jalen Nole then did this at number three. Riley
Dixon backed up punt. Can they come after another one.
He's at the fifteen low snap. He gets this one away.
Here's Nol tracking to his right, makes the catch at
the twenty one, tracking to the left side to a
little hole twenty five thirty across the field to the
left forty, tripped up, keeps going fifty left sideline forty

(42:45):
and brought down outside.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
The thirty yard line.

Speaker 4 (42:48):
Jalen Nole.

Speaker 17 (42:48):
But there's a flag down way back at the thirty
on the other end where this whole thing started.

Speaker 27 (42:54):
That's all I was looking for was whether it was
gonna come out clean and flag free. I really stopped
paying attention to knowl because you know, I knew he was.
He had a big return based.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
On what we saw from our here. There is no
follow on.

Speaker 23 (43:10):
The plane, the offensive holding the result of the players
a partner turn its first down Houston.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
Wow, boy, was sean Hockey he said those words. I mean,
holy smokes, that counted, all right. First drive, it's the
number two Nico Collins in the end zone from CJ.
Stroud with a beautiful catch, beautiful throw, beautiful rout, everything
beautiful to start the game seven to nothing.

Speaker 1 (43:35):
Nico from CJ's at number two.

Speaker 17 (43:38):
What are in the backfield CJ and the gun first
out Strauve throw gunget long tatfield right side, and Nico
with that catch lights side of the end zone and touchdown,
rocking roll twenty nine yard touchdown passed from Stroud to Collins.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
And I did have a hard time deciding which one
I would put first. But I think because this Nick
Chubb run. A great block from Titus Howard, a great
block from Harrison Bryant gave Nick Chubbs some room he
burst into the end zone. The crowd was going berserk.
I thought this was gonna be it. Touchdown under two minutes.
This is it, We're gonna win. This game didn't happen.

(44:12):
But this is number one. Nick Chubb from twenty five
yards out.

Speaker 17 (44:15):
Second to nine at the Bucks, twenty five strout under center,
handoff Chubb again up the middle, twenty angling right, fifteen,
ten to five touchdown, Poston Chump to the house at
the Texans lead Tampa Bay.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
Fortunately, Baker would work his magic drive him down Shod
White touchdown twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
Texans lose.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
Unfortunately, all right, final segment, We're going to Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
I've had some good moments in Jacksonville. Lately on the road.
We'll have a few of those for you looking back
as we look ahead.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Right here in Texans All Access Matchup Edition, we won
final segment of this edition of Texans All Access Matchup Edition.
I'm your host, Sean Harris Football Analyst Sideline Report. We'll
be on the sidelines down to Duval County as a
Texas take on the Jags on Sunday. And the Texans
have had some really fun moments against the Jaguars over

(45:12):
the last few years. How about last year Week four
when the Texans are down but they're driving late and CJ.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Stroud found dari A Goombawala for the game winner.

Speaker 4 (45:27):
Second and goal digs to the right side. You gotta
have OFFSETI. CJ rolls after the right coast to the
end zone, hits doy.

Speaker 1 (45:39):
And the Texans score.

Speaker 7 (45:41):
They lead.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
CJ.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
Stroud Tatari, who's had a huge game. What's the Texans
off top?

Speaker 2 (45:51):
How about when we went down there at twenty twenty
three and it turned into the Stroud to Tank Dell Show.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
Second down and seven from the forty eight of the Jags.
Stroud fakes the.

Speaker 17 (46:03):
GiB now guns long downfield and he wants tag Dell
and Del has that catch inside the one yard line.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
Stop there, big play to take Dell.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
Here comes the bliff CJ firing downfield to his right and.

Speaker 17 (46:16):
Tank has it at the forty the thirty the twenty ten.

Speaker 1 (46:19):
Five touchdown, Tank Dell to the house.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
Wow, sixty eight yards the rookie scores.

Speaker 2 (46:27):
But the number one play of twenty twenty three happened
in that game against the Jags. No one will ever
forget Andrew Beck kickoff return touchdown to give the Texas
a two touchdown lead.

Speaker 17 (46:39):
Brandon McManus will kick off from Ara left to right
with Mike Boone back deep, one yard deep at the
end zone. Last time he let it bounce and this
is gonna be inside the ten and this is dropped
picked up by Beck.

Speaker 4 (46:54):
Beck still going running to the right side. Beck has
some room.

Speaker 17 (46:57):
Twenty five, thirty, thirty five, forty, He's at the fifty.
He's at the forty five of Jacksonville. Beck across the
thirty to twenty, the fifteen.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
Ten to five. Are you kidding? Rock and roll touchdown Houston.
My goodness.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
The year before that, the Texas went down there and
upset Jacksonville. In the year they would go to the playoffs.
It was also the year Dick Stingley had his very
first interception of Trevor Lawrence, the first of Stink's career.

Speaker 17 (47:25):
Lovey Smith wanted to take away now would be a
really good time, James Robinson of the game, trying to
tenderize things.

Speaker 4 (47:32):
Perhaps he's in the backfield behind Lawrence.

Speaker 17 (47:34):
We'll take the snap from center on second down and
a yard from the seven. Lawrence fakes the gift, steps
to his right. Lawrence looking throwing back at the end zone,
picked off by Stingley. He brings it out of the
end zone, though, and he's down at the one yard line.

Speaker 4 (47:50):
Should have taken a knee. Stingley with the pick, the
first of his career.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
And there'll be many more appreciate you than you guys
for listening to this evening. We'll see you next week
and as always, go Texans.
