Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's over in Seattle and the Texans go to two
and four, losing to the Seahawks twenty seven to nineteen
in a super frustrating game for your Texans, who have
three home games coming up at NRG Stadium and they're
all crucial because the season is slipping away unless they
do something about it quickly. The Texans unable to hit
the ball in the end zone offensively until very late
(00:22):
in this one. Let's go over Coke memorable moments Chris refreshing,
irresistibly tasty Coke zero sugar? Is that the best coke ever?
Try and decide? So the Texans won the toss, put
the Seahawks on the field first offensively and they got
a three and alf and Houston had the ball after
a near safety. They had to punt from the back
(00:44):
of their end zone and that safety looked pretty good
to us, but it was not reviewable, so the Seahawks
had to live with it. Texans did not get off
a very good punt because it was just short range
on the snap distance back of the end zone.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Seahawks got it at the forty four of Houston.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
They drove Charbon a one yard touchdown run seven to
nothing Seahawks. Eventually js N eleven yard touchdown reception fourteen nothing,
Seahawks will go through this fast. After a Kailn Bullock
interception off a Cooper Cup trick play throw, Texans drove
and they got their first touchdown or points of the game,
I should say, in the second quarter. Ten plays sixty yards,
(01:22):
fairband thirty six yards. They could not capitalize with the
big points, but they'll take it. And they were holding
the Seahawks down for a while. After Denico Atre, playing
his first game of the season Tonight, blocked a field goal,
Texans went short range and got a fairband forty six
yard field goal. Great throw by Stroud to Jalen Nole
to set this one up at the halftime buzzer, and
(01:44):
you thought, okay, after everything that happened, you're down a
touch into two at the break, fourteen to six. But
the third quarter begins in disastrous fashion as CJ. Stroud
throws a pick. The Seahawks are held to a field
goal chip shot seventeen to six, and the Texans have
trouble moving the ball again. But the Seahawks had the
ball deep in their territory. Houston punted well down the
(02:06):
ball inside the five, and this would happen on third down.
Donald with cup in motion to the right. Now Charbonay
motions into the backfield. I'm third and seven from the
Seahawks seven. Donald in the gun calling for the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Here's the snap.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Donald at the goal line pumping Donald in trouble and
Will Anderson has him down. The ball is out and
Will Anderson has it for a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Houston scores the terminator.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Very nice, Will Anderson Jr. Giving the Texans their first
touchdown of the night. They went for two. They didn't
make it their down seventeen to twelve at this point,
holding the Seahawks to a Myers field goal next possession.
And then it got a little crazy. After a turnover
on down Seattle at a short range field thirty nine yards,
they got a pi at the two and Charbonay later
(02:58):
punched it in twenty seven to twelve. The count Texans
got the ball back several times several chances, unable to
really capitalize. Stingley had to pick late, they got a
fumble recovery late. They got the ball inside the five
twice toward the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
If they had scored when they had it fourth and
goal inside the one.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
That would have been one thing they had all the
time that they needed, as long as they made stops
and again converted on offense one more time. But later
on they would get the ball inside the five at
the three, and this would happen.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Third and goal at the four. Straut of the gun
marks in the backfield.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
CJ to throw looking looking, CJ doesn't like what he sees,
wants to scramble out to the right side, drops back deeper,
throws to the end zone, and it's.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Caught Woodie Marks, touchdown Houston.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
CJ stroud a beautiful job staying alive and able to
find Woody Marks for that score, first offensive touchdown and
only offensive touchdown of the night. They kicked the extra point.
They hoped to get the ball back. They never did.
They kicked off two yards deep in the end zone. Well,
the Seahawks brought it out because there was two oh
(04:11):
four on the clock, so they burned the clock down
of the two minute warning. The Texans only had one
time out after that. They were going to get the
ball back on a third down stop, but Settle left
his feet jumping into the pile. They called him for
unnecessary roughness personal foul, and that penalty gave the Seahawks
a first down they were able to kill the clock
game over twenty seven to nineteen. Houston loses to the
(04:34):
Seahawks on the road and will come back home to
face the San Francisco forty nine ers at NRG Stadium
Sunday at noon. We'll be back after this message from
your local station. Sexons coverage twenty four to seven on
Sports Radio six to ten dot com. Twenty seven nineteen,
the Seahawks beat the Texans. Houston now two and four
(04:56):
on the season, Seattle five and two and the Texans
at two and trail the Colts in the AFC South,
who are six and one going into week eight. My goodness,
what is the past rush report?
Speaker 3 (05:09):
Andre the RGIB sack report. The Texans had two sacks
in today's game. Will Anderson had won the sack strip
fumble and recovered it for a touchdown. Then Deniko Audrey
he got back in the swing of things, he added
the other sack. As part of Sacks for Hunger, AHIB
will donate one thousand dollars to the Houston Food Bank
(05:30):
every time the Texans sacked the quarterback the hib sack
attack is brought you to you by HB, the official
tailgate headquarters of the Houston Texans.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Well, you brought up will Anderson with the strip sack
and touchdown on the fumble recovery, five tackles, a sack
of forced fumble, a fumble recovery for a TD. He
joins JJ Watt and Mario Williams as the only Texans
defensive lineman to reach that mark in their first thirty
five games. So that was a heck of a performance
(05:58):
by will Anderson Junior getting that touchdown, Dre. You get
four takeaways, one of them gets you a touchdown, plus
you block a field goal. I gotta imagine your chances
of winning if you get all those things to happen.
It has to be ninety five to ninety eight percent
at the very least. But the Texans were unable to
get it going on offense tonight, and it's become all
too familiar a story this season in their four losses.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yeah, boatload of turnovers.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
You usually that usually does the job on the road
if you have anything going offensively. The fact was that
they couldn't run the football with consistency, and when you
look at it. CJ was the leading rusher with twenty
five yards and average twelve and a half yards of
carry on two carries. And then it was a tough
night for Nick Chubb as well as Woody Marks. Turning
(06:45):
the ball over yourself at different times, coming up short
on fourth and fourth and short on your own end
of the field. Basically a first down was gonna give
Seattle field goal range, and they ended up indeed kicking
a field goal on that. It's just a tough way
to do it, especially when you're on the road. You
can't turn it over. You gotta be able to stop
(07:06):
the run, make a team one dimensional, and you take
points when they're available. It was just one of those
evenings where offensively you could not get anything going.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
You look at the Seahawks scores, dre they got the
ball once of the Houston forty four, they got a
touchdown out of it, Houston thirty eight that got a
field goal out of it, Houston thirty nine got a
touchdown out of it.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I mean those are.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Outstanding five starts for them. Yeah, and that was a
big story tonight. Your defense, and I hate to go
one side versus the other, but your defense got you
those takeaways. They held them down after the slow start
where they're off to a fourteen to nothing lead.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
You kept them in check.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
But the offense has real difficulty keeping up or picking
up the slack and making things happen.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I don't know where to start with it.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I'm sure we're gonna have a lot of talk about
it over the next few days, but you have a
very short week to get ready for your next opponent.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Yeah, I know this. I know Jalen Nole deserves a
bigger role in this offense because he just seems to
get open when he was back returning punts, and for
some reason it became Marios's job tonight when I thought
Noel did an outstanding job in that department. When he
touches it, things happen, and you have to find a
(08:21):
way to build him into this offense. So you have
somewhere to go other than Nikocollins and Dalton Schultz.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Noel came into the game with five catches for twenty
two yards. He had four catches for seventy seven yards tonight,
and they were big.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
It wasn't garbage time stuff.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
The one that set up the field goal at the
end of the first half and the one that set
them up and a goal to go fairly late in
the game. Very nice receptions, very clutch receptions.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
C J.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Stroud was sub fifty percent throwing the football twenty three
to forty nine, two hundred and twenty nine yards, a
touchdown and a pick tonight, and that is not going
to get it done. Dalton Schultz had a monster night
nine catches for ninety eight yards, easily his best game
of the season, so that was big. But Nico Collins
left the game with the concussion tray and you were
already without Christian Kirk. So you have to find a
(09:09):
way to solve this problem of the pass catchers. At
least you know what you're working with. In all likelihood
going into Sunday.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
You know it could be time mark for a youth movement.
And by that I mean I just talked about Jayalen Nole.
You got to get Higgins going for some reason, and
then what he marks. He adds a different dimension to
the running game. There's some explosiveness when you can use him.
In terms of the screen game. There needs to be
(09:37):
a movement where these young players start to get more
because they deserve more and they help this team.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
They make plays in space.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
I mean Noel came in and the four catches you're
talking about, they weren't in garbage time. It is very
much when the game was still in balance, and so
I just think he needs more more opportunities on the field.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Well, they'll get opportunities on Sunday against the forty nine Ers,
a very tough team to be no matter who's playing quarterback,
because Mac Jones has proven to be a very good
backup to Brock Purdy.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Fingers crossed that Nicocollins is healthy and with it being
a short week, that becomes a concern of whether he
can play or not against the forty.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Eight with a concussion. You never know. He had to
leave the game.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
He was evaluated in the tent, went up the tunnel,
and then they declared him out. We'll see if they
can make something better happen on Sunday noon kick at NRG.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Stadium against the forty nine Ers.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
We'll continue our review here, give you the Reliant Energy
power Player and the rest of it. Twenty seven to
nineteen Texans lose. This is Texans Radio. After we are
done here in the booth, we're in Seattle, where the
Texans lost tonight twenty seven to nineteen. We'll turn it
over to Sean Pendergast and Clint Turner for the postgame
show on the flagship Sports Radio six ten and Sean
(10:57):
after tomorrow's morning show on Sports Radio six ten. Will
have been on the air fourteen of twenty eight hours
to my account, so that's that's a long stretch there,
and Seth I think eleven out of the twenty eight. Wow,
So that's a lot of radio for these guys, and
we appreciate that very much. Relivepower player of the game,
Proud to be the official energy provider of the Houston Texans.
(11:19):
I don't think there's any doubt it's nol right that
we both feel that way.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Now.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
In defense, on defense, you could say Will Anderson Junior
Stingley had that nice pick. It's funny tray because they
had some bad defensive penalties tonight costly, even Stingley's after
he had the pick, had the stiff arm into the
face mask and I think the helmet came off too,
and that was obviously a no no and that pushed
the ball back on the Houston end of the field.
(11:42):
But we appreciate the pick, no doubt for sting who
is in a tie for third with Dante Robinson most
picks all time in franchise history. Already, it feels like
Stingley is just out of his rookie year, but he's
been here since twenty twenty two. So it's just one
of those nights of the Texans. They fall far short,
only eight points on the scoreboard, but when you consider
(12:03):
the opportunities they have, it feels worse than that in
many ways. And we'll see what they can cook up
on Sunday against the forty nine.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
You just kind of felt like at times that the
Seahawks are trying to give this game to the Texans.
Oh it was a made yeah, and they just refused
to take it at times. And that's the frustrating part
about it. San Francisco is a very talented team in
its own right. They've got a good running game, they've
got receivers. They very much resemble the team that's here
(12:34):
that the Texans faced tonight, good defensively as well.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
It'll be a tough task at home.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Yeah, and we'll talk about what the Texans need to
do to improve to win that game next when we
close it out. Here from the broadcast booth following tonight's
twenty seven nineteen lost to the Seahawks. We'll be back
after this message from your local station.

getting off the, charter and Then wednesday cannot be a full.
Practice but they do have a game plan to put,
together and they got to figure out a way to
get some more ease on.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
OFFENSE i would imagine that they've already started that, process
even knowing that they Have seattle and they've you, know
working with a short, week kind of putting two game
plans together at the same. Time because these teams are
so familiar or look a lot of like so the
person that or the player that worries me in that.
(13:50):
One George, KITTLE i mean he worries. Me we saw
the tight end the youngster, tonight have a great start
to the. Game kittle is an experienced player that takes
full advantage of matchups that favor. Him and we don't
know which quarterback we're going to, see whether it's brock
perty or Mac jones at this, point coming off an,
(14:12):
INJURY i would probably prefer to see Brock.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Perty, well you still have a chance to do some damage.

they're really tough Ones San, francisco followed By denver Than.
