So Andre, you look at the whole situation. Oh, in three,
the Texans are the only team to make the playoffs
after starting going three this century. Now we'll get into
more of that later. Perhaps what matters most is just
playing better football. You can't turn it over three times
in the fourth quarter or anytime and win a football game.
It's amazing how close they are in all these games

(00:21):
so far, yet can't get over the hump when it
matters most.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah, you just need some more juice out of the offense.
And as you said, in a close game like this,
the only way the Jags win this is that you
turn the ball over. And with three of them, you
know you sometimes you put it on the ground, you're
able to recover it. But when they all go to
the other team, that makes it really tough to not
only stay in a game, but try to, you know,

(00:46):
win it. And it's the defense. I feel at times
they're doing their parts, but then laden games they're on
the field so much. Then laden games they get worn
down and the team late in the game will go
down and score. Happened against Tampa Bay. It happened again
in this one against Jacksonville.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Well, you look at the rushing situation eighty seven net
yards for the Texans, you know they want to do
better than that. Two hundred and four through the air,
driving at the end, try to tie the game. Couldn't
do it. What do you recommend offensively for this team
to get untracked, to get more balanced, to get on
the board more because ten points in an NFL game,

(01:25):
you can't do that. You got to get it. Get
that number over twenty more often than.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Not, Yeah, no doubt, and it usually it's the first
team to twenty one. And forget what the percentages are,
but it's seventy five to eighty percent of the games
you'll win if you just score twenty one points. That's
the benchmark in the NFL. And you can't get there,
you're gonna struggle as a team. What do they need
to do? I think the answer when they're going down
the field as they were the last possession is no huddle, right,

(01:53):
So you line up in that when you're struggling offensively,
you've got to mix some things up and shake it
up a little bit. That's what CJ wants. You give
your quarterback what he wants and let him go some
no huddle, take all the thinking out of it in
terms of breaking the huddle, identifying this, that and the other.
Sometimes you have to be the aggressor offensively and you

have to dictate how things are gonna go, not always
adjusting to what the defense does. You make them adjust
to what you're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
For CJ. Stroup, this is year three, but it's a
new system, and you always talk about that. It takes
a while to get used to a new system for
a quarterback, no matter who he is.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
It's no doubt about it. Whenever the system changes, you
can almost go back and he is. I think he's
still pretty much brand new in this league because he's
you know, he hadn't been around, you know, ten years
or so, this Grizzly veteran. He's still a relatively young player.
So when you're that you haven't seen a lot of offenses.
He's seeing way more than he should have seen at

this point in this stage in his career. So yeah,
you go back almost to being a rookie again and
trying to learn the terminology, trying to learn the progressions
and reads, getting comfortable with spacing within the offense. You
can't really coach them up because you're you're still learning
it yourself, so you can't go get on receivers for

the spacing because you're still trying to process what's going
on on offense yourself.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
The last interception pocket collapsing Stroud jarred as he was
delivering the football, got his fault.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It was tipped by Josh heinz Allen and got a
piece of the ball as CJ was delivering it right
as it's getting ready to come out of his hand,
Alan tips it and it ends up in the air,
spinning all kinds of different ways, and then it winds
up being intercepted. This is a tough break for CJ.
