Speaker 1 (00:00):
Drey. Let's talk about some of this one. The defense
holds the Rams to two touchdowns in the entire game,
and they get the ball away from the Rams to
enable the offense to have another chance at this When
you look at the numbers at the end of the day,
rushing yards for LA seventy two. Stafford did throw for
two forty five, and you just gave us the sack

(00:21):
report earlier. He went twenty one of twenty nine for
a touchdown. They weren't able to really rattle him enough
in this one, yet two touchdowns at the end of
the day. If I tell you that number coming into today,
you'll take it every.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Time, no doubt about it. It was just a game
of about consistency or of consistency or lack of consistency
on the part of the Texans. Yeah, you had some
moments defensively. Offensively, I thought, you know, the running game
was there at times, but not consistent enough. Pass protection

(00:55):
was there at times, wasn't consistent enough. Got hit way
too much in this football game. And then you know,
able to move the football at times, but not when
you really needed it too. So that's the word I
come away from this one with is just being consistent.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
What about the running game when you look at the
rushing net yards, Texans ran it for one to fourteen hour.
Big part of that was Strouds scrambles thirty two yards
on five carries. But Nick Chubb makes his Texans debut
thirteen carries sixty yards. You got to like what you
saw from him, some hope for the future, but other
guys need to step up as well in the ground game.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I think he proved today that he's a reliable option.
There are times when he certainly looked like the Nick
Chubb of old, and the Texans will benefit that from that.
In the running game, just got to be who's gonna
start the game, who's up front and have some consistency
in both the running game and pass protection. But Nick Chubb,

(01:54):
he played well average four and a half yards a
little over four and a half yards per carry with
a long of thirteen CJ ran it well when he
needed two at times, and they're gonna have to count
on that at times. And then Dari, you know, the
two carries he had for nine yards, still four and
a half yards of carries, so when they needed it
at times, it was there, just not enough of.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
It things We won't know. What would the line have
been like with the configuration where ed Ingram is playing guard.
What would the offense look like with Christian Kirk out
here he was unable to go today, or even Braxton
Burrios because you look at the rookies, Higgins with two catches,
Noel with one, and again Stroud's got to get him
the ball. But Stroud under pressure a lot, having to

(02:38):
find some reliable receivers. You talked about consistency. What'd you
think of the passing attack with these receivers.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
I thought at times it was there. I think Higgins,
you know, if his frame the ball that was intercepted
by Kobe Durant, He's got to bring that one in.
He's got his hands on it. It's coming down, and
Durant just went up and fought him for it, took
it away before they both made contact with the ground.
He'll learn from that. That's the learning experience for a rookie.

(03:05):
I just didn't think there was enough in the passing
game to just to be able to call it or
define it as consistent.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
And mistakes of plenty. Today we talked about turnovers at
the end. The big one eleven penalties eighty yards against.
That's a lot of yards. That's a lot of infractions.
That's a lot of stuff that really hurt you offensively
and defensively.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, when you when you start mixing in penalties and
you're starting drives inside you're twenty inside your ten yard line,
it's a hard way to do business in this this game,
you know, in the game of football, and so a
lot of it boils down to field position. And when
you get good field position, you do and play the
games a lot differently than when you do or the

(03:50):
way you play it when you're you're backed up opposed
to when you were you're backed up and you have
to you're in more of a protection mode when you're
When you're that way, it's kind of like a boxer
and you got your back on the ropes. You know
you're protecting when you're in that instance, as opposed to
being in the middle of the ring when you're you
know you're you're slugging it out, so to speak.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Oh, in one, get a little more time to get
ready for Tampa Bay because it's a week from tomorrow,
So you get the extra day to prepare for Monday
Night football. Liberty white out at NRG Stadium
