USC RB Woody Marks ready to make plays for Texans

The Texans selected USC running back Woody Marks in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and the versatile playmaker went 1-on-1 with Texans TV’s Drew Dougherty just moments after being picked. The two talked about Marks’ ability to catch passes out of the backfield, what it’s like to join an offense quarterbacked by C.J. Stroud, and an interesting hobby.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Day three of the draft is upon us, and the
Texans have themselves a running back from USC by way
of Mississippi State. It's e Equavius Woody, Marks Woody, congratulations
are coming to town. What was it like getting the
call finding out that you're head of the Houston.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I was amazing test player upon the organizations, great people. There,
got some former USC players there, so that's amazing. And
the running back room and the team itself speaks for
itself and the organization.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, you're a guy who's never been afraid of catching
the ball out of the backfield and doing stuff with it.
That's a very valuable trait to have as a running back.
What else are you?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I'll say, I'm kiss I'm kissing a person you can
just put out there anywhere. Tis a chiss, A playmaker
on the fields, willing to make the team get the
ultimate goal at the end is the w So that's
all I'm just. I'm just there to do anything that
the coaches need, doing anything that my teammates need, and
the guy who can make them trusting too.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
You mentioned having some USC former teammates on the team.
What else did you know about the Texans as you
got through this pre draft process over the last three
four five months.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I know a lot about the Texas tests I knew mostly.
I know a lot about the running backs. You got
Joe Mixon, know a lot about him, and you got
Damian Pierce.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I know about him.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Because the coach he coached he was up found there.
He coached me in Mississippi State, so we watched his
film a lot, and being with Lincoln Rilly, I watched
a lot of Joe Mixons.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
No doubt, no doubt. So tell me about that USC connection.
Last night we see one of your four well former
teammates get selected in Jalen Smith. Last year, the Texans
bring Kaylyn Bullock on bi block on board. What's it
like joining some guys that you've played with.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
It's amazing test knowing that I got a person on defense,
I got a person who I got along with from
in one year, and we'll be back together, not going
against each other, So it'll be amazing. We both can
show out for the Trojans and show out for Houston Texas, and.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
I imagine it's gotta be fun knowing that you're going
to an offense that's quarterbacked by the guy who's under
center there in CJ. Stroud. How a tracked is that
as a guy coming out of college like yourself.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
It's amazing. He's a great quarterback. You've seeing his first
year there. I think the team will respect to him.
He's he's just he's a dominant player and I would
love just that was my dream, just to play for him.
He is, He's amazing.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Hey, we've asked a few of your new teammates, these
fellow draft picks, this last question. But what's something about
you that people don't know? Even if they look for you,
look at look your name up on the internet, They're
not going to find out. What's something that sets you apart?
What's what's something that's different about you? Something you like
to do?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Uh, something I like to do. I like to be
around my teammates a lot. I'm fit of a quiet person,
but I'm kind of funny.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I love funny.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, I'm kind of funny, but I love like My
main thing.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Is I love bowling. You love bowling? Yes, sir? All right,
what's the best game you've ever bowled? Two?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
One?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I got one?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, I got three of my own balls, So.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
All right, you got three of your own balls. Okay,
we're gonna need to up that to a one number
because one of the great Houston Texans of all time
is a guy named Andre Johnson, just win in the
Pro Football Hall of Fame last August. He was a
terrific bowler back in the day. So maybe you guys,
you and Ady can can link up and hit the
lanes or something that sound good, yes, sir, for sure.
