Speaker 4 (00:37):
All right, follows how.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
You guys doing, Baldy, you went with the Letterman jacket
again representing the National Football League. Roger Goodal going to
send that jacket up, bart You look good, and rud.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I appreciate it's actually salmon and a little bit of pink,
but that's okay. He saw his roll with your eyes
a code blind.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
He's very comfortable in his skin to be able to
wear that salmon outfit right there.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
He certainly is.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Hey, Bartio, I wanted to ask you about the Jets
rivalry uniform that they will will be wearing this week
at against the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
What do you think.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think it's cool? You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:09):
I wish they would have put a little bit more
of the gun metal gray instead of the charcoal gray.
You know what I'm saying to Flash and the colors
up kind of reminds me a little bit of when
Oregon kind of goes with that type of stuff, you
know what I mean, a little army fatigue going on,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
I just hope they play as tough as they as
the uniforms look.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Speaking of playing tough, Baldy, you had the Jets game
last weekend against Atlanta, Man, I was hoping that you'd
have the Jets on the schedule schedule this week because
you are a good luck charm.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
I don't know if I was. I don't know if
it was luck. You know. I mean they obviously they
won the special team battle, you know, from the very
beginning of the game, Isaiah with another great return set
up a score.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
You know, and we've been talking the last two weeks
that this is a showcase for guys like ad Ni Mitchell,
and you know, we saw we saw pretty much what
he can do. I mean, he's he's a big guy
that's smooth, that can run by people. First touchdown of
his career came at a great spot, you know, the
field goal at the end in a tough day where
(02:12):
I don't know if it was leading raining, I mean
it was. It wasn't nice outside, you know, to be
able to execute that everything from the snap, the hold,
the kick to win it. That was great because Atlanta's
a talented team. They got a lot of good, young,
talented players. B John Robinson, the go all to the defense,
that's that's that was a good win. It wasn't pretty,
you know, a lot of them aren't pretty sometimes, but
(02:34):
that was that that had a feel good. The whole
team celebrated, you know, at midfield with that field goal kick.
They've won three out of five games right now, Ea,
you could feel that it's beginning to turn around gradually slowly.
It doesn't matter when it happens, but you can feel
like it's happening right now.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Bart what do you say about that gutty gritty that
come well, that comeback. The Jets score ten points in
the last two minutes for only a third time in
franchise history, first time that's ever happened at home.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, I mean you talk about you know, Tyrod Telly,
you have to tip your cap to him. It wasn't
nothing great, but you know, in those conditions, you just
want to be the team that's standing on top at
the end, not make too many pivotal mistakes.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
He was a true professional. He made the throws that
he needed to make.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
I think he showed a lot of grit, lot of toughness.
We thought a couple of times he took some hits
that he wasn't going to get up, but he got up.
He was confident. You talk about him still showing that
he has like the wisdom, but also the legs if
you use his legs, especially late in that game to
extend plays, but especially in the goal line, to be
able to say, okay, everything's taken away. And they clearly
weren't playing him as a running quarterback because they had
(03:43):
their backs turned, didn't have a spy for him. He
made him pay. And that's what winners do. They just
find ways to win. Nobody cares. They all go down
the same and to win column or a lost column.
They don't say how much you won by. This isn't
how close you were. You don't get participation trophies or
points you know, to help go you know, for ploffs later.
So I thought they showed a lot of poison belief.
And you know, the week before, it was Mechi, this
(04:06):
week it was I and I Mitchell, And you know,
I think Mitchell Mechi probably has some drops that he
that he wants to have back, and let's see how
he responds to next week. But the thing is, I
think everybody's getting comfortable in their roles and I'd be
excited to see when Garrett Wilson comes back what it
looks like, because it could be a preview about what
the season could look like the next year. Of course
(04:26):
they'll go out and maybe add another receiver, but the
fact that you have a deep threat receiver, a guy
who's pretty much, you know, taking you know what we
thought Allen Lazar was going to be, with more speed
to take the top off the defense. And you're seeing
guys take advantage of their opportunities, the fact that they
you know, have guys that believe in them and they're
they're they're here instead of a supporting cast, they're leading men, right,
(04:49):
and they're getting opportunities to be starters and be guys
that you know, get plays called for him. And when
Garrett Wilson comes back, I don't expect that to change.
I called him the three little Horsemen.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Baldy were starting to see Aaron Glenn's vision take form,
aren't we Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Yeah, I think so. I mean, I mean the penalty
at the end back them up five yards wasn't good.
But the penalties are down. They're playing hard. Everybody knows
the role. Andrew Beck had a great block on the return.
He knows his role. I think guys are comfortable, getting
comfortable with how they're getting coached. That's a big part
(05:25):
of turning things around is I believe Aaron coach is hard.
You got to hold these guys accountable. Look, Jon's a
great player, but he didn't kill the Jets. You know.
They they were able to kind of corral him enough
where he didn't single handedly beat him. And he's done that.
He did that the Buffalo earlier this year. And so
I feel like, you know, they got a rotation on
(05:48):
the defensive line right now. I feel like the identity
is starting to show on offense, even though it's not enough,
it's not consistent enough. You know, Ed Night is a
true ex receiver. They haven't had that in a long time.
Garrett is your Z like masons your tight end. Like
you're starting to see pillars of what this team is
(06:10):
going to be going forward, and I think that's what
they're beginning to establish. And just the toughness that to
your point, Ea, that you can score ten points in
the final few minutes of the game to come back
and win a game like that, Like those things are
are really really important.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Bart, What do you make of the special teams?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
You got folk kiro another great moment at MetLife Stadium.
Now in the game winner, Austin.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Played with Johnny Uniteds right, Yes he did, right, my teammate.
He's still Colone team maybe Like, yeah, he played with
you play with me too?
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Is still still kicking, I tell you what.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
You know, he's found a way to extend his career
because of his accuracy and the fact that he's clutched.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
You know, it was good to see.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And this and the special teams has been a strength
of this team the entire year. And when everybody else
the other two units kind of pull themselves up, it's
only going to illuminate that special teams even more because
it's a true weapon to be able to flip the
field by punting, and it's a true weapon to be
able to split, to flip the field by you know,
your return game and guys that are ed a legitimate threat.
(07:15):
And you know also you know, you might just look
at the big ones, but you know, for me, the
one at the end was pivotal.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Getting eight to twelve yards.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
That's a lot, you know, making especially because the play
before the punt, before you let the ball hit the ground,
it pins you back where it dictated what you can
do offensively. And then when you get the penalty and
made it even worse the fact that you just catch
the ball and don't allow the ball to bounce and
get those hitting yards and then get twelve yards.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
That's flipping the field. Twenty thirty yards. That's all you needed,
you know.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So I'm impressed with the attention to detail, with the
complexity of like some of the returns, how they morphed
from just having guys flat on one line and basically
being put in a wrestling match. They're able to be
able to get separation in the in the return game
because they have guys off the line of scrimmage, no
(08:06):
different than if guys had to run twenty yards. Naturally,
the faster guys and the guys to the side of
the kick will started to create you know, vertical scenes. Well,
the Jets are figuring a way to create vertical scenes
by simply blocking some guys early and blocking some guys
late based on their formations on the special teams. And
that's you know, it's a design and that's taking advantage
(08:27):
of the rules that we have now and find a
way to be effective to get the same results because
you know what you need, you need guys on different
levels to be able to have great returns.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
So there's some football five on one for you.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Ball.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
I mean, you really hatch you off real quick to
quantest stiggers. Yeah, he had a great game. Yeah, he
was a great gunner. He got the punt on the
muff punt. He beat his man. They double teamed them.
Later on he beat the double team. You know, they
had six punts and they averaged forty nine and a
half yards of punt because they eliminated the return yardage.
And so that's that's a big flip of field position.
(09:00):
You know, six different times in that game they won
the field position battle. And that's always the hidden part
the success of a game like that.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Yeah, I mean they've been consistent throughout, guys, Austin McNamara.
You mentioned Stiggers coming up with the funnel recovery, of course,
but McNamara, the Jets moved on from Thomas Moristead, an
accomplished punter, and they brought McNamara in here. He's played
at a Pro Bowl level throughout. And then you guys
(09:29):
have talked about Stiggers, Well, the Jets thought they were
gonna be able to depend on Chris Boyd who was
signing free agency. IRV Charles who unfortunately is coming off
injury so he hasn't been able to play this season.
Canay wam Wu has been dynamic from a kick return perspective.
Isaiah Williams, what a story he has been. And then
(09:53):
you know, you talk about other guys like Isaiah Oliver
providing the leadership. You had Marcelino McCrary ball, who's this
special teams captain who was out for a while as well.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Baldy mentioned Andrew Beck.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
I mean, it's like everybody's producing, and this is a
first year coordinator.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Chris Banjo, Well, you know, if if you let West
he tell it. You know, that's just how he trained him.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
You know what I mean? So that the territory.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah, how about Isaiah Williams The last time he played
the Miami Dolphins The Jets host the Dolphins this weekend.
Is he was left for dead as far as what
his future is going to be with the Jets because
unfortunately he had the fumble on the kickoff return. Also
fair caught the ball inside his own five yard line,
(10:41):
and he has worked his way back and he's been
so dynamic as the return man and he's also earning
repts an offense side of the.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Ball, right and he's producing there. So I mean he's
earned that time.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Uh, Baldy, what do you make of Isaiah?
Speaker 5 (10:58):
Well, I mean, look, he's uh, he's a he's a
key contributor right now. We can week out and he's
a weapon. And I'll be interested to see just how
the Dolphins handle it because I was watching the game
last night and why would you punt the Marcus Jones? Like,
why would you do that? You know? And he made
him pay. But that's what great returners do. They make
you think about alternative ways to get the ball, you know,
(11:21):
in play. And if they make you think like that,
then you have to be able to adjust. If they
do adjust. So I think he's you know, making these
opponents right now rethink. I think, you know, if Raheem
Moors had to do it all over again, I don't
think they'd be punting Isaiah Williams in that situation. They
directionally punted out of bounds, and they wouldn't let him
go eighty three yards and flip the field like they
(11:42):
just did. So I think he's changed the way teams
are gonna game plan and approach the Jets right now.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
And and I Mitchell bart six the Jet, a receiver
whose first touchdown pro touchdown came from fifty plus yards out.
That was his first rear one hundred yard game.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
What do you make of his production?
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Because we saw Machi early on, you know, those first
couple of games, and now you're seeing Mitchell Koman.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
I mean a lot of times you don't get the
the productivity and the recognition that you deserve or that
you're capable of, not because you aren't capable, it's because
you don't have the opportunity. And you know, he came
in with high expectations and you know things happened. You know,
he got stuck behind some really good football players, and
(12:30):
you know, he unfortunately, you know, dropped the ball and
sometimes you get that scarlet letter there, you get branded
with that. And that was his first you know, career
touchdown as well, and you know, what better way to
have a touchdown than have a touchdown on you know,
a fifty yard bomb, right, you know, that's that's that's
kind of like telling everybody what we already knew that
(12:52):
this guy is a threat and he can in the
future be one of the better receivers in his league,
one of the better deep threat. I mean, you look
at where he left. He left a guy at Alec
Piers that was a big play threat. I think probably
probably has the greatest or the highest yard per catch
right now in the NFL for the last couple of years. Well,
(13:14):
I think that Mitchell can be the same way. You know,
he's big, fast, and you saw his ability to separate,
you know, even against Gonzales the week before when he
first came in, they had the inside fade that if
you know, Phil throws the ball in front, he's hitting
his head on the goal post two weeks earlier.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
So he has that type of capability. And I love
the mix that.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
This creates because you have the route runner and MATCHI
that can go underneath. You got Garrett Wilson that can
do it all. But now you have the ability to
if you want. You know, these guys been playing the
X and Z, you have the ability on certain downs
and distance to put Garrett Wilson in the slot where
you can't put your hands on them, and they still
have to respect the fact that that Mitchell can run
(13:53):
by everybody which is going to eat up the safeties
and potential to the corner. So you saw that in
the cell route that you had me break down pretty
much what it is. It's a three tier you know route,
but it's it's all led by the fact that that
Mitchell mean that that you can you have guys that
can take the top off the defense, multiple guys that
can take the top off the defense, which gives you
vertical space and it gives you horizontal space. So you
(14:15):
have all fifty three wide and now because he's able
to get take the top off the defense, that gets
you forty to fifty deep. So that creates all type
of voids for underneath him for the route runners and Mason,
you know, should be able to eat off of that.
Garrett should be able to eat off of that and
match you should be able to eat off of that.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, baldy space. That's the key word here is that
he's gonna open things up. Mitchell's opening things up for
Garrett Wilson down the line, but in the short term
number twenty as well, because hey, what are you gonna do?
I mean against the Jets. You know they want to
run the football. But if you're gonna load that box,
(14:51):
you're playing with fire.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
I think.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
So.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
You know, they called two plays for him on third
downs in that game where he came across the field
in motion and then you ran you know, a speed
out one for you know, fifteen yards on third and
eleven or third nine, you know, another one on a
shorter out. But still he's he's very smooth coming out
of his breaks and he comes back to the football.
(15:15):
He doesn't like hang out there and allow the defender
to really attack him. So he's got some fundamentals that
are really good and his body like he comes out
of his break smooth. You know, he's going up against
you know, a j Terroll. He's a good corner, he's
been a Pro Bowl corner, but you know he's separated
from him and he can run by you. So I
think teams will Miami will look at that certainly this week,
(15:37):
and there'll be a little bit more cognitive of it.
But look, when you get a true X receiver that
can beat you deep, it usually opens things up underneath.
Whether it's the run game or whether it's a checkdown game,
or you know, whether it's your just your short game
or your quick game, it opens things up. You've got
to be cognizant of it. And I would think that
you know, he's going to get a lot of attention
(15:57):
because of it. You might even Miami doesn't have an
one corner, but the teams like New England that do
and Christian Gizials, you know, down the stretch until Garrett
gets back, yeah, he probably's gonna get the number one
corner out there, which can open things up for other guys.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
The draft capital is exciting, There's no doubt about that.
When you're talking about that trade. Sauce Gardner, a very
talented player goes to Indianapolis to get a pair of
first round picks. But I think a lot of people
early on at least were thinking, Okay, Mitchell will have
to see you know how this progresses to Bart's point
(16:31):
buried on that dup chart in Indianapolis. Now he just
comes here. He has an opportunity. This is a former
second round pick, blessed with a lot of natural talent,
and he's got a good mindset. So he comes in,
he's paired up with a veteran quarterback. So I'm excited
to watch what his near future looks like. And then
down the line, once Garrett comes here, you're starting to
(16:53):
see Bart it's a young offense man because you got
the pieces up front on that offensive line, you got
the running back in the backfield, you got Mason Taylor
at the tight end position, and then your three receivers
when we're talking about Matchie Mitchell and Garrett Wilson, they're
all under twenty five and all under team control.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
But also what that allows you to do is that
allows you to one go for a receiver if you want,
but you don't have to go for them. If you
want to go get the safety in the draft from
Ohio State, you can do that. You can take the
best player available. If you decide to push kick the
can down the road and address the quarterback position. In
twenty twenty seven, if some of these guys decide to
stay in because with all this nil money, they're not
(17:35):
just trying to hurry up and run to the NFL,
because that kind of holds guys in more so. You know, also,
you know, if another tywarn breaks loose, I understand that
that Mason Taylor, but you can always have two great
tight ends. Look at it, Joku, and look at you know,
look at Fanning right there, look at look at Likely,
look at you know.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
I mean, you need to a mark time, Mark Andrews.
You know.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
So if you get a guy that's a dynamic, more
dynamic than the Mason Teller, then now you have two
guys that can push each other right so, and that
helps you work the middle of the field. So you
just want to get the best weapon for the offense,
and that could be a tight end. The beauty is
like like I said about the Ravens and the Kansas
City Chiefs, and back in the day it used to
be the Seattle Seahawks under Pete Curle, that you never
(18:19):
know what beautiful thing falls to you, and it's always surprised.
I can't believe this guy's here. Well he's the number
one guy on our board. We didn't think he will
be here right. So, and now the Jets offensively, I think,
is at that point where they have a pretty good
offensive line. If they want to sign Vera Tuggar, if
they want to bring back John Simpson, they can do that.
They have the money in the allocation to do that.
But if not, they can draft their replacement. And I
(18:41):
always like, in my opinion, I always like when teams
draft the guy's replacement, but he has to sit and
wait for a year. That way you can work them
in unless he's just a guy that's ready to that
blows you away in training camp.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's the best way to have it.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Have a guy that could be mentored by somebody in
that position and then move along later.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Pald the Jets offensive line has said continuity throughout through
twelve games they started the same five. That's the first
time that has happened around here since twenty twelve.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
Well, not only that, it's the only offensive line that
has done that in the league right this year, the
only team to start all twelve guys, all five guys,
twelve straight games in a row. So, you know, for
a long time, we're like, why are these guys always
getting hurt? I mean, it was everybody. It was older guys,
it was young guys, it was you know, maybe they've
changed the way they practice. I mean, I don't know,
(19:34):
we don't know. Maybe it's just the right guys. But
it's just encouraging to see that these five guys, and
I believe Tipman has improved to the point where if
you want to keep them at guard, I think you
could keep metguard. If you want to, you know, put
them back at center, I think you could do. I
think you've got some flexibility here. And so I feel
like the longer, just from experience, the longer you play together,
(19:57):
the better you get, the more you see things, the
more the easier it is to adjust, because nothing ever
really looks if Bart freaking, you know, is sitting there
at linebacker and I can't get to them, you know,
on my inside slant, like I might have the fold
to get to him, but if I know, if I
don't get to Bart, He's gonna freaking make the tackle.
So just the subtle adjustment you can make amongst your
(20:21):
group in order to get things taken care of, Like
this week in Miami, that's Jordan Brooks, Like he'll make
every tackle if you don't block that kid. I think
he might lead the league in tackles right now. So
maybe it's just one of those things. In their thirteenth start,
if they can figure out a different way to get
to Brooks and a look that you know in practice
that looked like we could get to them in a gain.
(20:42):
We can't put a hat on them, so maybe you
just adjust a little bit during the game because you
have that familiarity with each other all right.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Before we get to a quick preview of this upcoming
game Jets Dolphins, I just wanted to get your thoughts
on the young dudes in the secondary, specifically as Thomas,
what you've seen from him on the outside mal Chai
more playing that safety position.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Well, I like, I like the physicality, and I think
that's one of the things or one of the knocks
that was on Sauce Gardener is that the physicality coming
up in a run game. And if anything kind of
shows you what Thomas is all about, it's that fourth
and short play where they went with the tight end
and the quarterback sneak and you know you got one
of the most physical downhill runners in football in alzer
(21:28):
Yep and he came down and he didn't just wrap
him up. He knocked him backwards. So that that's what
you like to see. And I think you know that's
that's intimidating, right because sometimes your corners have to be
forced force defenders as well. And you know that, like
you said, crack, replace, How quickly and how enthusiastic are
you to come up when the guy is cracking your safety?
(21:48):
And you got to come out and replace and make
the tackle when you step on the train tracks when
the train is coming through. And you like that physicality
because that sends a message that, hey, we ain't candy
over here. Like listen, when we were here, like crow crow,
get you down. Reeves knocked the hell out of you.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
So it was one of those things that was you equal.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
He was an equal opportunitist ass kicker when it came
to it, Like he didn't care if it was a
tight end or receiver or running back. I'm coming down
and I'm gonna pay a physical tackle on you. And
that that sends a message that yeah, you can crack
all you want. We don't have no problem with our
cornerback taking the kneecapio running back out. We all good
with that. Ain't no, ain't nobody. Ain't nobody on this
field soft. So if you're looking for a weak link
(22:29):
or a soft person, you got the wrong team.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Brother. You better put that chin strap up because it's
gonna be downhill.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
This defense is scrappy.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
I mean, you know, listen, Bijon got his yards last
week and Pitt's got his yards as well. But to
your point, as far as what we're seeing from the
dudes in the secondary, they'll come up and play the run, yeah,
and their thumpers, and that's what Aaron Glenn wants. Okay,
So let's take a quick break and then we're gonna
preview Jets Dolphins.

(23:27):
you seeing from Miami? They've won three in a row,
four of the past five. Bart's former teammate Anthony Weavers
doing a good job with that defense because they've really
improved throughout the year. But offensively, Tuoa has got fourteen
interceptions and everything's running through Devon Han who's having an
outstanding season.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
Well. In this three game win streak, I think Mike
McDaniel is really adjusted. You've seen a lot of formations
you don't see in any other team. Tight ends in
the backfield, offensive guards in the backfield. You can see
a power pistol formation. You don't know who's coming in motion.
Darren Waller is healthy. He's a factor right now. But
it does run through eight chan and they're playing much better.
(24:09):
They got the right tackle back Austin Jackson, the left
the left side, Patrick Paul is enormous. You could beat
him in pass protection a little bit, but he's getting
He's getting pretty good. I feel like right now the
run game has got a lot of misdirection. Your eyes
got to be right. You're gonna see a lot of
a lot of pre snap motions, You're gonna see a motion,
(24:31):
a shift every single play. Every time you motion, every
time you shift. Bark can talk about this. Your eyes change,
they adjust, and then you got different people going in
different directions. And Tua is pretty masterful with all of
his ball handling, So being disciplined and knowing where guys
end up in the formation is critical and key to
(24:53):
defending some of these plays. Eight chan Is I think
he's a third or fourth leading rusher, but he's also
a great receiver. Leads him in receptions and he leads
them in rushing. You know, literally, he's gonna touch the
ball twenty five or thirty times, and he's got elite speed.
He can turn the corner like Bijon Ken. But he
is a game changer, and I think Mike McDaniel's done
(25:14):
a good job of really building this offense to try
and take a lot of the pressure away from Tua
and try to limit some of the turnovers that he's
been created.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
All right, part, what's the defensive game plan here? Before
you answer, Mike McDaniel said this week of the Dolphins offense,
at some point we are going to have to execute
in the near future because in the NFL, you have
success in a phase or success in running the ball,
and people will over commit and eventually you will need
the pass to win. I think that will be a
(25:45):
big thing that we will be working on this week.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Dolphins are having difficulty through there.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Sure you are, Yeah, you're gonna trumb up paying these
elements and we believe that you're gonna throw the football.
Yeah right, guys are gonna be having it hand pouches
with hand and warmers in them, so we know this
US is gonna come in between the trenches. And if
you've watched b Jon Robinson, I think they will be encouraged.
The only difference is like when they do that cracked
toss and they have the you know, the the what
we call far I because they got to get the
(26:16):
fullback offset and they do the cracked toss and they
force the corner to replace. I don't think our corner
will do the Olay move that the Saints did last
week and move out the way. I think it'd be
straight ahead, no fair dodging, and we'll make them pay
the price if they want to have an unblocked player.
We'll make those tackles. But you know, they get their
supposed to plays from the run. You know, a chan
(26:37):
is a home run hitter. You can't allow him to
circle the defense. So I mean I think that you
you you really got to make sure you set edges.
You can't be trying to get a sack on the
run play. You got to make sure that you sit
up and you're you're going through the man to via
the man. You can't be just trying to get up
feel get Ben blocked and allow that tackle to go.
You know, Ben block you and go run up and
hit the linebacker. Two for one, you got to hit
(26:59):
guys thick when that fullback comes in. It's one thing
to say, okay, I spilled it without burying yourself. You
got to hit that guy thick with your head on
the inside of his helmet. That way you get knock
him back and you're able to seal the gap inside
with your body and seal the gap on the outside
of your body and then make that ball have to bubble.
But you got to go down and tell that full
back listen, you might want to go tighten up your
(27:20):
neck roll because you keep coming to hear you end
there without no neck.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
The challenges for the linebackers with all the pre snap
movement and will help.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
I mean, listen, we all call that you so crazy.
That's all eye washed. Like you know, you remember Sean
McVay used to do that as well, right, That's that's
that's what it's all about. They're doing all that to
run regular traditional power plays. They just want to create
that hesitation to set up the block for the linemen
so they can get the angle for you. So listen, man,
(27:48):
I don't care nothing about that out there. It's guys
that got the force. My job is to make sure
i'm inside out to the football. I can care less
about all this you know, power. If you want to
get a couple, if you if you want to get
a couple jet sweeps and beat me around the corner
once or twice, have at it, buddy. But I know
that the meat and potatoes are the power. The wham,
the woe, the balls, the outside zones, the crack talls.
(28:11):
You can miss me with all this other triggeration stuff.
I'm gonna come downhill. I'ma keep my eyes on who
they supposed to be on. I'm gonna keep on them guards,
because the guard's gonna take me to the ball in
that fullback gonna take me to the ball.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
You can.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
You can hand that little jet, sweet baf every once.
So I'll let the corners in the little little hyaenas
handle that. These lions in here gonna eat.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
And Baldy, I'll tell you what our super linebacker here
wants to have this game in a phone booth, you know,
like it's.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Cole Well, you don't see how much they want to
play because one thing that happens to them shoulder pads
is some things get nice and stiff, nice and cold,
and that ground get nice and cold. And you know,
if it's a quarterback, you may get in trouble. But man,
if you take one of these running backs of tight ends,
you pick them up, you dry that shoulder, dry that
head into that frozen hard ground.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Uh yeah, that'll be a little worse for wear.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Offensively, Baldy to ride got it going in that second half.
How can the Jets carry that momentum against a Dolphins
defense that we've talked about. He's playing an approved brand
of football maker. Fitzpatrick still back there, and Rassell Douglas.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
It's going to be interesting to see.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Where they put him this weekend.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Obviously, he had the interception against the Saints Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
Rasseill Douglas has been this league a long time. I mean,
he's a big corner. He's his own corner. He was
drafted where he was and he's on his fifth or
sixteen for a reason. Like he doesn't run great, but
he's excellent in zone coverage. He's got good eyes and
good instincts. So that's what you're gonna get from him.
You're not getting any press man, but you know, Athy
Mitchell can run right by him if given the opportunity.
(29:44):
I'm not their secondary is not very good. The front
has gotten a lot better, a lot better. I think,
you know, Weaver's done a good job of really coaching.
I mean, there was a time they couldn't stop anybody
for running. But those two linebackers. You know, Brooks has
really understood how to play with his defensive line. The
run fits are very good. Uh, you know, they got
some you know, a young pass rusher and Chot Robinson
(30:05):
had a good game last weekend. They've got some guys
that could get to the Quarterbazack Sealler inside, he's been
a problem. He's been a ten sack guy before. So
they've got some guys inside that can you know, that
can also get to the quarterback. But you know, I mean,
I don't think that there's exotic blitzes that you see
from some other teams. I mean that they're pretty basic.
(30:26):
They're gonna send a fifth linebacker, you know, to kind
of bounce out the rush and maybe limit ty Rod
from you know, scrambling like he did last week. I
expect to see some of that stuff. But you know,
I feel like this is a very like I feel
like this is the week that the Jets should get
their first interception. Two is gonna put two up for graps.
(30:46):
He just does. He sales balls because he doesn't see
real well from the pocket, and you know he's gonna
take his shots and there's gonna be a chance for
two if you get one of them, that's gonna go
along ways in that game.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
Yeah, he's got fourteen interceptions.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
And here's the thing too too that they that you know,
they tell you, don't tell you. The football one is
harder to catch, right because it's slick. If it's coal,
little oil comes out of the football.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
So it could be some some tipball tip tip balls
and overthrows. You'll change games.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
But also it's what I would do is I would
make sure I pack the boundary and pack the middle
of the field and make him throw the ball outside
the numbers because you have opportunities to break on the ball.
Because he doesn't have elite armstrength and with the cold weather,
his grip on the ball is going to be different,
and his timing and the speed in which the ball
he's used to the ball carrying through the wind. Just
like we see when the ball is kicked, you know
(31:39):
the ball doesn't travel as far. Also when you throw it,
it's going to take a little longer to get there,
but you don't know that until you try and actually
throw it, So your timing could be slightly off when
you're a receiver trying to hit him moving target if
they want to throw speed holes or speed outs. So
I'm gonna give you a bunch of cover three and
hope I can get that hook curl seen flat player
to come in and still be one on one of
the weak ass out routes.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Yeah, those are far throws across the field, especially in
December up at Mad Life Stadium. Okay, with let's get
out of here with this, just one three oh five.
They have yet to win a division game. Over the
course of these next five games, you're playing three inside
the AFC East. The division right now looks like it's flipping.
(32:20):
You got the Patriots have won ten consecutive games. They
might be on their way to a divisional crown. They
might be the number one seed in the AFC. With
that being said, how important is it for Glenn and
this group to get over the hump inside of division
because these are teams you're gonna be battling for not
(32:41):
only this year, but twenty twenty six and beyond forever.
Because Patriots aren't going anywhere it they're as sending the
bills are always gonna be dangerous with Josh Allen, and
we don't know what Miami situation is gonna be, but
just short term, just getting one inside they have ceased.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Well, I'm trying to be the grints that stole Christmas,
and I'm trying to make sure I put coal in
all these dudes things. I'm saying, all right, Buffalo, yeah,
you ain't winning the division. I'm saying, okay, well, you know,
New England, You're not gonna have the best record now
here you go in Miami, you think you're gonna sneak
in and maybe you got a hope. We I'm gonna
kill your dreams too. If I can't go, ain't nobody going.
So I'm gonna try and make sure I'll do damage
(33:20):
to everybody. And I'm saying, hey, when you come in here, yeah,
we're gonna make this one of the most physical games.
We're gonna make sure you lip to the playoffs so
that y'all get it. Listen, I can't have no happy ending,
can't nobody have one.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
Baldy Well. I mean, look, you build your team to
win in the division. Division games count for two, Like
you've got to win division games. If you think you
know you want to start improving, you win in your division.
You send the message because everybody sees everybody's tape in
the division. They all get watched every week in the
cut ups. Like winning in the division matters, and so
(33:54):
this would be a great spot. You got a home game,
you you got a home game. Whatever. The crowd is
out there and braving the weather, braving the elephants. Those
are true Jet fans being out there. They're gonna be
like they'll be standing up the whole game, no matter
what the uh you know what weather conditions are, Like,
winning in your division is important, and maybe it's time
(34:17):
to send that message back to Mike McDaniel in that
South Florida group that maybe this isn't the right regime
going forward. Right now, they're filing pretty good about themselves
that they can dig out of the hole, but maybe
you should just like stop that and stop that celebrating
that they're doing down there. Uh you know, all talking
big before winning three in a row and beating the
lowly Saints like they did, Like this is the time
(34:37):
to go put an end to that.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Yeah, it's an extremely winnable game for the Jets and
they can make it four six before they go face
Jacksonville the following week, and then after that it's a
date with the Saints in New Orleans, a team who
has won two games to this point, and then you
will get a shot at the New England Patriots. So
uh AFC East landscape is changing. I think the Jets
(35:02):
are on the scent. We know the Patriots are so
far this season, and the Buffalo Bill's right in the
playoff hunt as well. We're gonna have to see how
it all plays out. Great stuff, is always baldy with
your letterman's jacket.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
And yeah, and Bart coming out.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Here, going to fresh off the homecoming game.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Bar coming out here with the salmon sweater again. Man,
I'll tell you what. You're in good shape for December.
You can give us a few snaps on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Well, I'm about to go straight to the gym if
they plan, if they paying, I'm playing. Okay, no rock now,
couldn't get it. I think my hand frings, both my
hands frings are good.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
Yeah, that was some physical that, Frank.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Alright, boy,
