to do.

DJ So great to see again. What is this week
like for you in Indianapolis Lafting Coline.
Speaker 6 (00:30):
It's busy, it's busy, but it's fun. I've always loved
this event. I loved it when I was scouting. I
love it on this side. It's it's a great opportunity.
It's a convention. You get to see all your friends
around the league, which is cool. And then I always
give people a hard time that don't enjoy the combine
and they hit it with the underwear Olympics line and
this isn't And I'm like, if you don't like watching
guys run fast, and we can't be friends.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's fun. It's fun to watch guys run fast.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
So, heading into the twenty twenty five draft, what are
the most talented position groups?
Speaker 6 (01:01):
Well, I think it's defensive line. You know, start with
defensive tackle. I had twenty four guys that were that
I have greatest potential starting defensive tackles. Last year, for
a frame of reference, I had twelve. So I don't
recall every year with this so many guys, and it's
not like you're trying to invent him, you know where
it's like he's two hundred and eighty pounds.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
You know, if he could put on twenty pounds.
Speaker 6 (01:22):
Oh, you know, he's three hundred and sixty pounds and
he needs to lose about thirty These are a bunch
of three hundred and five to three hundred and twenty
pound guys that can all move their scheme diverse.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's it's excellent there in terms of the depth.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
And after last year where the quarterbacks go six and twelve,
six of the first twelve picks overall, what do you
make of this group?
Speaker 6 (01:45):
It's not last year, I mean I think that's where
you start. But I do think those two at the top,
and I have it with cam Warden and shoot her Sanders.
I think both those guys have a chance to be
quality starters. You know, I think there's always an important
importance should be placed unfit, no matter you know how
talented you are.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
But I think this year more so than.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Than any that I can remember, where like, I think
there's very specific fits for guys and and and they'll
have a chance to be successful. But you drop him
in the wrong spot and it's gonna it's not gonna
go well. And after that, I think there's some intriguing guys. Yeah,
but you know it's uh. I've been trying to think
of who can vault up and be the third guy
(02:24):
that's gonna launch it, and I just don't see it
at this point in time.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So there's still a lot of people are in the
Jackson dark.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
He's my third quarterback.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
I have him in the forties, you know, but you know,
there could be there could be an opportunity for him.
I thought the Senior Bowl was good, but I didn't
think it was you know, like at Penix last year
at the Senior Bowl, the way the ball jumped.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Out of his hand was like, Okay, he's gonna move up.
You know, bo.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
Nicks, you know, the tape was he was so efficient
and you knew he's a great example of right fit
it's gonna work, and it was Sean Payton.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I mean, it couldn't have been a better fit, you know.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
I think to me, Jackson Dart he does a lot
of things at the line or slightly above the line,
But I wouldn't say that there's one thing that just
you know, that blows you away.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
What do you make of where the Jets are at
number seven here in the draft and they have the
forty second overall selection in the second round in a
new regime with Aaron Glen as head coach and then
Darren Muci's GM.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
Yeah, I think they're in an interesting spot. You know,
there's a lot of different directions that they could go
if one of those two quarterbacks is there. I mean,
you know, depending on what they can accomplish in free agency.
It feels to me like more a team that's still,
you know, kind of building up, and it feels more
young guy have a young guy option there. Whether that's
in you know, free agency, I just don't know if
(03:39):
that's you know, is that justin fields who's still you know.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Still is young when you're twenty five years old.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yeah, for as traveled as he is, there's still there's still.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Growth there and there's a lot of tools that will
make a lot of sense to me. But then again,
it's weighing him against potentially, you know, one of those
two guys being there at seven, you know, and that's
to be determined. I'd do I'd be very surprised if
cam Ward was an option, if he would be there.
But you might be having that conversation of Shadour versus
Fields and having that out.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
So are you in the belief that there.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Are three outstanding prospects in this class and they're all
defensive guys where you started, add Dual Carter from Penn State,
Travis Hunter from Colorado who could play wide receiver as well,
and then Mason Graham from Michigan.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
I love Mason Graham, but I would still put a
little separator there, you know. I think those top two
guys separate themselves. Abdul Carter, you know, premier position, premier talent.
I'm not going to see him do anything here this week,
but it doesn't really matter to me. And then Travis
Hunter with just the versatility, all the playmaking he can do.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Everybody knows his story. And then Mason Graham.
Speaker 6 (04:41):
To me, it's just rock solid, consistent, know exactly what
I'm buying with him. But you know I have Ashton Genty,
you know, grade wise a tick higher than him.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
So the Jets probably not in the quarterback businesses here
because you got Bresall, You've drafted a couple impressive guy.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Yeah, Braylan Allen.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
What are you rooting for if you're a Jets fan
at the beginning of the draft.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
Well, you know, I think if you fall in love
with Shodor Sanders, if you feel like he's the fit,
then I think, you know, you could be rooting for that,
depending on what you do in free agency. It's a
little bit higher than where I have him, but not unreasonable.
But that's you know, an opportunity for me. I want
somebody This run game stunk last year, even with all
the talent they have in the running back room, so
(05:28):
I want to help that out.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
That's something I think you can accomplish in this draft.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
Whether that's you know, getting yourself a you know, another
offensive lineman, a right tackle to throw in there, or
whether that's you know, taking someone I think helps a
run game in the past.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Game is Ty Warren, how much does it come into
consideration what you just said about the defensive tackles before
that this potentially could be one of the best defensive
tackles classes that we've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
So if you're the Jets, yes, that's one of your needs.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah here heading into the offseason, but you might be
able to get one a little bit later.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah, No, I think you can look at it that way.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
I still think, you know, if there's premier player that
you fall in love with, just take him, you know,
and if that's if Mason Graham's there, I turn the
cart in and feel confident and comfortable doing that at
that point in time. You also need a whole new secondary,
you know, outside of sauce. There's a lot of guys
walking out the door. So you know, we'll see what
that what that shapes up, you know. Will Johnson, I'm
I'm intrigued by and curious, but I've never seen him
(06:27):
in person.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
I want to see him move. I don't know if
he's going to do anything here this week.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
I haven't heard yet at this point in time, but
you know, ball, skill, size, all that stuff's great. Just
want to see, you know, how can you really really
run with my question.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
What can you tell us about the safety class because
you just said the Jets gonna be looking to fortify
that secondary.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
We don't know what's going to happen.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Opposite sauce Gardner, DJ Reid obviously expiring contract. His back
of Brandon Eckles has expiring contract, and then you have
multiple safeties with expiring contracts.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
I use our lads for depth charts and look at
it and I think they're green is the color that
they use ironically for free agents.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
And I was like, let me looking at the Jets
the other day, I was like.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
Oh my gosh, the secondary is all green outside of
sauce gard And there's a lot of guys, and I'm
sure they'll resign, you know, a few of those guys
and work some things out there. The safety position, I
don't personally see one at this point in time that's
worth where they're picking in the first round. You know,
Iman Wari is a freak show heightweight, speed athlete.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Maybe he gets into that discussion.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Malachi Starks is someone I just wish made a few
more plays this year, but can has you know, Nickel
flex can play it up top do a lot of
different things, but not to me, those are more you know,
fifteen to the back of the first round is where
those conversations start to happen.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
When you're studying the draft.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
How much attention do you pay to the coaching staffs
because Aaron Glen comes in and you got a new
defensive coordinator here and Steve wils you got a new
offensive coordinator in Tanner Angstrom, Egstrand. In terms of a
these are good fits for the Jets and what they're
going to try to do because we have not seen
(08:08):
this team in action, none of the new regime.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
Yeah, and I think also, you know, the best coaches
are gonna take what they have and and work around
that with you know, with scheme and what they want
to do. I think more so than the scheme fit,
I think with ag coming in there, I think you
look at what he witnessed in Detroit, more so to
me than any magic scheme was they got a bunch
(08:30):
of physical, aggressive, passionate football players that matched the culture
that they instituted with their head coach. And I think
that's gonna be something I would keep more an eye on.
It's like, okay, you know, for lack of a better word,
trying to find some dogs they can kind of throw
in there, and this team has some of those already,
but just just keep pouring them in, pouring them in.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Speaking of some of the dogs that Jets have already
on the roster, you want to Twitter and said you
wouldn't be surprised, not just talking about the Jets, you
were looking at the league globally and saying there could
be some extensions over the next seven to ten days.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
Yeah, I think you're going to see that. To me,
there's teams now, you have money, and you have cap space,
and you have a somewhat uninspiring free agent crop. So
it's an opportunity now to say, Okay, we've got this cash,
what's the best way for us to spend it. Well,
some of it's just let's just lock up some of
our young guys. Let's spread that money out. We have
the space to do it right now. I just think
(09:25):
that's a good opportunity. And you know, Garrett Wilson be
one that I would be curious about at least having
that conversation and see if we can't get something done there.
Because that number is not going down, it is only
going up.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
It feels like old news now.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
But what was your reaction when the Jets made it
public that their intention is to part ways with the
A four metcha Rogers.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Yeah, nothing surprised me there. I think that was kind
of the expectation, maybe that it was announced early, you know,
but I think that's a respect thing for someone who's
had his type of career and his type of success.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Let's just let it known.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
You can start looking for for what's next, and and
we'll go our separate ways. But that's why I go
back to, you know, where are they in their process,
new GM, new head coach. Makes sense to me to
kind of pursue a younger quarterback that kind of grow
with with everyone in the building.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Would you be surprised at all if the Jets, you
mentioned fields before, maybe potentially signed a free agent because
they already had ty Rod Taylor at the house. Has
been a bridge before you got Jordan Travis and the
roster Adrian Martinez. But sign maybe a free agent and
then draft one doesn't necessarily have to be in that
first round.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
Yeah, I think you're gonna add You're going to add
a drafted quarterback to their mix at some point in time.
You know, I would be surprised if they didn't have
someone to work with and someone to develop, so you know,
test test, see what's out there in free agency. You
you know, one thing you have to offer is people
talk about money. Well this also you can offer a
starting job, you know, so that that becomes appealing. So
(10:53):
that'll be interesting to see what what they end up
doing there.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
You spoke about Dart before.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Give me a couple other names quarterback who have intriguing
skill sets, Yeah, that are going to be taking maybe
in the second, third, fourth rounds.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Got Tyler Shock could be up there. You know, he's
someone who's big.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
He's six', five he's two hundred and thirty, pounds he's,
older you, Know BUT i don't know that that's necessarily
the knock that it was, previously because the guy's got
a lot of, reps he's got a lot of you,
know development that's already taken. Place so as a twenty
five year, OLD i think he turns twenty, SIX i
want to, say uh In. September but you're getting somebody
who can make every single throw and who matches that
division in that, environment in the in the weather you
(11:30):
would play in up. There so, big, strong sturdy. Dude that,
one you, know will be interesting to. Follow Will howard
probably be another. One you.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Know i'm curious to see him throw. LIVE i have
not seen him throw.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Live the only QUESTION i had just just pure topping
velocity and arm. Strength BUT i, mean, gosh the guy
went on an incredible run there in the postseason For Ohio.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
State what do you think is gonna happen With Jalen
milroll fascinating. MAN i.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
Talked about, THIS i remember if it was on a
conference call or in a tweet or, whatever BUT.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
I was talking to. Him every let's talking to a BASEBALL.
Speaker 6 (12:02):
GM i love, baseball and we were talking about their
scouting scale and how they, go you, know forty forty,
five fifty to fifty five all the way up to
eighty and eighty is the, highest you know. Tool so
you would say somebody's you, know got an eighty eighty,
hitter he's eighty, fielder you know. Whatever AND i, said
if you were to take every skill set of a,
quarterback you, know in terms of the, accuracy you, know,
(12:24):
uh pocket, feel vision, processing you, know all these different.
Things his athleticism is an. Eighty Like Jalen milroe of
all the, quarterbacks nobody has an eighty. Trait he's the
only quarterback that has an eighty. Trait now it's him
as a runner and his, Athleticism but, man that's. You
you've got something there to work with from the. Start
(12:45):
he has got a, special special ability as a. Runner
now you've got a lot of work to develop him
as a. Passer but that's not that's nothing to do
to dismiss.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
As somebody's gonna take that chance to try to de
follow this kid because he is a Special.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
It's going to go on day two would be my. Expectation.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Oh kyle, McCord he transferred From Ohio state To, syracuse
says it's a big. Year what's his potential in terms
of his stock being elevated?
Speaker 6 (13:09):
Here and he reminds, me he reminds me Of Kirk
cousins a little bit When kirk was coming out of.
College just like he's he. Is he makes some big,
throws he's got enough. Size everything you hear about him
from an intangible standpoint. Excellent there's a couple brain cramp
moments with him where you, know like, gosh what was
he doing? Here but he doesn't lose his. Stinger he's
(13:31):
very aggressive with how he. Plays in the year they
had man that he's a he's a that's a feather
in his cap to be able to sell the.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Teams turn that around like.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
That all, Right so we're Going i'm with. This this
is called make your. Case. OKAY i have a series
of cards.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Here these are prospects that could be drafted by The
jets or any. Team but you can pick one card
and then tell me why this prospect makes sense for The.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Jets i'm gonna. Go i'll go to them, Shelfare i'll see.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
This Is Tyler.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Warren, Oh Tyler, warren but that.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
This is an easy. One this may have been. Rigged
i'm not GONNA i JUST i want to be truthful
and honest with the. PEOPLE i Love Tyler.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
Warren AND i just think when you look at tight,
ENDS i always think about the, facility and you have
your meeting room set, up AND i always know in
the quarterback room there's.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Some tight ends that aren't very.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Popular can't get, open can't make, plays quarterbacks don't love.
Him there's other tight ends the running back. ROOM i
hate this tight. End he can't seal the. Edge i'm
getting hit in the back every single TIME i run
because he can't block.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Anybody Tyler warren is gonna be popular in both those.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
Rooms he can go make plays down the field for
your quarterback in the red zone you know that big
frame and target wall guys. Off and then also in
the running back, room like oh my, gosh let's run
to let's run to the, right let's run behind.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Him he can move people in the run. Game so
this is a run.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
Game as we've mentioned with The, jets there's too much
talent in the backfield for them not to be better
than they. Are this is like playing with an extra
offensive lineman out.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
There, yeah you did a lot of study on The,
JETS i know in the lead up in the Last
Black draft and said, that, hey this guy would help
The jets, offensively not just in the past, game but
in the run.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Game.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
ABSOLUTELY dj always. Great seen.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
YOU i appreciate you coming by the table here once
again at THE nfl.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Combine how many is this for you? Now?
Speaker 6 (15:18):
Oh combine? Wise my first combine was two thousand and. Three,
okay so, no my first combine was two thousand and.
TWO i actually came BEFORE i even got hired by The.
RAVENS i interned for him in two thousand.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
And, two SO i think this is twenty twenty, three
now twenty three good twenty, three getting.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Old, Man Thanks, Bro Thanks Great. Senior you.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
See The Official Jets podcast is presented By Kendra, scott
the jewelry company that's shining bright and doing. Good Shop
Game Day, ready Jewelry styles and so much more at
kendrascott dot.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Com Jordan Great senior here at The INDIANAPOLIS Nfl, COMBINE
i got to start off with, this is this defensive
line class as good as most of the pundits like
yourself is.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
Saying, yeah, Absolutely this is the defensive line class since twenty.
Nineteen and if you, remember that class had names Like Nick,
Bosa Dexter, Lawrence Christian, Wilkins Brian, Burns Montes. Sweat the
list goes on and on the players that went In
round one of that. Draft AND i believe we could
get as many as ten to twelve defensive lineman drafted
in the first, round AND i believe The jets could
be in contention as one of those numbers in the first.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Round, okay defensive, tackle have you seen it this? Loaded
in terms of front line depth and then also value
at the back end of the.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Draft once the last time they saw anything like.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Us really since that twenty nineteen.
Speaker 7 (16:35):
Class, okay so, yeah that's really the last time we've
seen a defensive tackle class really from start to finish
that's been as loaded as this year's. Group and LIKE i,
SAID i think we could get as many as probably
six or seven that could go in the first.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Round that number would not be surprising at.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
All when is it too rich for a team to
take a defensive?
Speaker 7 (16:53):
TACKLE i, mean for this year's, CLASS i will be
comfortable Taking Mason graham at the top of this year's
draft as a top five. PICK i will be comfortable
taking him in that. RANGE i think he's a franchise
altering type of defensive.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Tackle if you're The jets And graham's there at, seven.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
Oh you run the cart. IN i don't even think
you don't even think. TWICE i don't even think he's
gonna be there the pat.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Seven do you view the top of this draft like
this that you Got Travis, hunter you Gotta Abdul, carter
and you Got? Graham are those the top three overall
prospects in your?
Speaker 7 (17:26):
Mind those are your three blue chip guys this year's draft.
Class after, that it gets a little bit touchy as
far as who could be that next guy off of the,
board considering if the quarterbacks don't go at the top
of the. Draft but as far as the blue chip,
guys those are your, three and that's WHERE i think
the run of defensive line could, happen just because of
the lack of those blue chip type of guys at
the top of this year's.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Class if you're The, JETS i know it's early and
we haven't even seen these guys. Tests they got pro
days coming, up they got an, interview and we got
a lot of time before now In, April but what
is a fortuitous look at the top of the draft
if you're sitting there at.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Seven So Mason, graham we just talked about, him but
just talking about defensive. Lineman somebody Likes Shamar stewart out
Of TEXAS a and M i think that's another name
that they could find really. Intriguing then you're getting into other,
names The georgia duo Of Jalen walker then Also mike Hil.
WILLIAMS i definitely think they could be in contingent for
that seventh overall. Pick those are really your names THAT
(18:27):
i will be comfortable with taking at the, top and
then of Course Aaron glenna being a defensive. GUY i
think they're gonna want just a clean, prospect especially whenever
you're talking about the first pick of a new. Regime
you want somebody that's gonna come in and play right,
away that's been productive in.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
COLLEGE i don't think The jets are gonna be able
to get their hands on this.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
Guy but what do you like most About? HUNTER i
think he's. Rare he is far and away the best
player overall in this year's. Class to, me he's been
my top player ever Since september coming into the, season
and it's very rare that you see a player dominate
on both sides of the. Ball And i've been using
his comparison ever since he came into the season this.
(19:07):
Year He's Champ bayley coming out Of georgia to. Me
and if you, Remember champ played or he averaged over
one hundred snaps a game when he was coming out
in the late. Nineties he ultimately decided to play on
the defensive side of the, ball and he's wearing a
gold jacket now, obviously but just the, instincts the movement,
ability and then just to be able to be consistently
a sudden change player on both sides of the.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Ball that's WHY i feel so confident in his.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Evaluation if he is a cornerback at the next, level
if you're a team to you, say, hey, listen he
is one of my best. Players i'm gonna get him
on the field offensively because he's shown he can do.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
It, Yeah SO i would play him at corner full,
time and THEN i would sprinkling in maybe twenty to
twenty five plays a game at, receiver just, because outside
Of Troy brown during his time In New, England i've
never really seen a player play full time at receiver
and then go over and sprinkle in some at. Corner
now the inverse is. True i've seen more corners go
over and sprinkling as a. Receiver SO i just think
(20:03):
that instance and that evidence that's WHY i feel more
comfortable playing him full time on the defensive side and
then build a package around him for maybe twenty to
twenty five plays a game as a.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Receiver The jets have some uncertainty it's a quarterback position
and parton ways With Aaron. Rodgers they Got Tyrod, taylor
who was a very respected veteran in House Jordan travis
was out AN nfi last.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Year he Got Adrian.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Martinez but if you're an organization who's in year one
Under Darren mougy And Aaron, glenn how are you looking
to potentially address that, position whether it be free agency
and or the.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
DRAFT i think they should take another late round, guy
Maybe day two Or day, three just because they should
go into the season with eyes on twenty twenty. Six
now they're not gonna sell, that and that's what they're,
doing BUT i think the smart approach would just be
to ride it out With Tyrod. Taylor it was a
competent player at the. Position he can get you through
a seventeen game season and not saying that they're gonna
(20:59):
have a great recording like, that but in year one
of a, regime you're trying to find out which players
you feel comfortable with and who are the guys that
long term that you want on the. Roster so with Ty,
rod you know he's going to give you a competent seventeen,
games AND i just don't think in year one they
should tie themselves to a quarterback right.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Now if either, one do you have your, Board Jordan,
rigg do you Have kim more than?
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Shoulder?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
YEAH i?
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Do then who is your third and?
Speaker 7 (21:28):
Fourth it would Be Jackson dart out Of Ole miss
and Then Jalen milroe out Of. Alabama those would be
my next two quarterbacks on the. Board and you, Know
dart has gotten a lot of love here lately just
because of how productive he's, been how lucif a thrower he,
is and he really mastered that scheme with Lang. Kiffen
but the big question about him is just how well
is he going to translate to the next level when
(21:48):
he has to go to more of a progression based,
scheme being able to, huddle have to relay and execute
actual play calls in the huddle, Too so just the
scheme questions is going to be big with, him and
then With. Milrow just how consistent of a passer can
he develop into?
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Ward is there any chance he gets passed?
Speaker 7 (22:07):
THREE i would be, Surprised okay it got Past cleveland
and then also The giants just because those teams definitely
need be.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Sure how About? Shader he more of a wild.
Speaker 7 (22:16):
CARD i think six is his floor The, Raiders, OKAY
i think that's where he ultimately ends up, going just
because they have a huge need at quarterback as. Well
and you, know If Pete carroll being seventy four years,
OLD i think he's gonna want to answer very quickly
there at, quarterback just because he wants to.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
Win in any event That sanders is sitting there at.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Seven if you're The, jets.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
YEAH i think you have to take, them just because
they have such a huge need at the. Position and,
YES i KNOW i said they should go into the
season with Ty wright as a, starter but that was
assuming that both of the quarterbacks go right at the
top of the. BOARD i just don't think there's a
third quarterback in this draft that's worthy of a round
one pick right. Now but If Shador sanders or Cam
ward is there for them at the, BOARD i believe
you absolutely take.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Them and if The jets are sitting there at forty
two in A dart or maybe potentially a Mill row
still out, there you consider it.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
There, YEAH i think you, do Especially, dart just BECAUSE
i don't think you can go wrong taking a quarterback
on day two And day, three just because those guys
are like lottery, tickets, Man that's WHAT i call. It
you never know when you could strike gold Like Russell
wilson Or Dak. Prescott and let's, say you, know we
don't wish injuries on, anybody but let's Say Tyrod taylor
does miss some time one of Those day two And
day three guys that go in there and they're. Productive
(23:24):
now you have A Dak prescott or A Russell wilson
situation of where you have a cheap quarterback for the.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Future jetsv north to twenty free, agents including amongst those
Is Tyler. Conklin what do you make Of Tyler warren
out Of Penn? State and then also a tight end
From michigan who probably didn't put up the numbers that
warranted last, year but he's getting a lot of love
(23:49):
and maybe he could make himself quite a bit of
money this.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
Week.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
YEAH i believe both of those guys Are round one worthy.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Picks now it's just a matter of are The jets
comfortable with spending a high pick on the tight.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
End do they feel like one of these guys is that.
Speaker 7 (24:02):
SPECIAL i Believe Tyler warren is that special of a
player that he's worth considering at number. Seven, overall and
he's a very similar player TO. Tj hockinson when he
was coming out Of. IOWA a guy that you, know
he doesn't predicate himself on creating the ultimate, separation but
he can win in so many contested. Situations AND i
(24:23):
mean we saw it during his career last year At Penn,
state the way he was able to just sky and
tower over. GUYS i think he's an underrated, athlete especially
after the. Catch and The jets have a huge need
as far as a weapon outside Of Garrett. Wilson they
need that second, target And Tyler warren would definitely bring
that to the.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Table what the names escaping me right? Now what about
The michigan's.
Speaker 7 (24:44):
Love, yeah he's another a bit of a different. Type
he's more so of your, big flexed out wide. Receiver
not really competent as a run. Blocker that's not really
where you want, him that's not really his. Wheelhouse but
he's just a big wide. Receiver he's really, dynamic and
now you're talking about somebody that really can comp. IT a,
compliment excuse, Me Garrett. WILSON i definitely think he brings
that to the. Forefront you can use him in, line
(25:07):
you could flex him out in the, slot you could
put him. Out, why there's so many different things that
you can get creative with with it Was.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Bowers, well he wasn't anomaly last, year no doubt about,
that but his. Production what do you think how does
that reverberate AROUND Nfl draft.
Speaker 7 (25:23):
Romps, YEAH i mean everybody knows That michigan they didn't
have great quarterback play last, year and you know he was.
Dealing he was a bit banged up last year, too
and you could tell it on tape with, him but you,
know you have to really take that into account with,
him and he still put up decent numbers last. Year
but with, him you still see him getting open on,
tape but sometimes a guy with sky the ball over his,
(25:44):
Head so it really doesn't matter as far as the,
production but you still see that guy getting.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Open, okay uncertainly for the jetson safety position and defensive
backfield as. Well Saus, gardner and we know he's going
to be man on one, SIDE Dj, reid he's gonna
test free. Agents See Brandon, echols who is the backup
on the. Outside he's also on a restrictive free. Agent
and then you're talking about the safety spot as, well
That jets have multiple guys with expiring. Deals who has
(26:12):
your eye in terms of maybe the safety spot and
also maybe a cornerback potentially he could start on the.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
Outside, yeah, well there's a cluster of guys in the
second round right, now and the great thing about the
combine is where this is where a certain guy and
a cluster can really differentiate. Themselves So i'm looking at
somebody like A Azaraiah thomas out Of Florida, State Maxwell
harriston out Of, kentucky and there's plenty of other names
(26:40):
in this year's draft class Of On revel out Of
ECUs another all those guys are really in that same
cluster of late first early second round, guys particularly mid
second round guys as. Well Benjamin morrison out Of Notre
dame is another name THAT i didn't even mention that
are in that same cluster of where you're just waiting
to see the testing numbers of the pro day numbers
to really unravel that cluster to who potentially could be
(27:00):
in the running for A cb two for The.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Jets and then at.
Speaker 7 (27:03):
Safety one GUY i love THAT i think will fit
perfect In Aaron glynn's defense Is andrew mccooba out Of,
texas who you, know originally went To clemson his first
few years of his, career had the breakout freshman, season
battle some injuries after, that and really reinvented himself once
he went back home To.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Texas that's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Fun what is this week like for, you a guy
who is constantly in. Demand you're talking to every team
and then you're doing your stuff FOR espn as.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Well what is this entire experience?
Speaker 7 (27:31):
Like this is where all the hard work goes, into
all the, prep all the, homework traveling to, games seeing these,
guys you just get to let it all. Out And
i'm like a kid in the candy store talking to
you guys and informing you about all these.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
GUYS i love.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
It so speaking a kid in the candy. Store make.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
In here.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Go so we got a series of.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Prospects you're gonna pick, one and you're gonna tell us
why this prospect would be a good fit for The.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Jets here we.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Go i'm gonna go right in the.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Middle what we got?
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Here here we? Go oh we got a? Quarterback?
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Serious?
Speaker 3 (28:05):
HUH i like?
Speaker 4 (28:06):
It?
Speaker 7 (28:06):
Oh you, know the ball, placement the, accuracy the poise
that he plays. With but one THING i love About
shador and his fit In New york is that he's
always been the. Limelight so he's never gonna back away
from the stage or the bright lights Of New. York
we're talking about somebody that is the son Of Deon,
sanders arguably the greatest athlete that's graced the, Planet so
(28:27):
he's always been in those pressurized, situations so he would
welcome the limelight Of New. York but, also they have
a huge need a quarterback right. Now so let's Say
Shador sanders does somehow miraculously fall to number.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Seven, overall he'll be a great.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Pick So Jordan reed says prime time in prime time
wouldn't be that. Bad but don't get your hopes up
because you're saying the floor is probably The raiders.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
At sex right, yeah right.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Before it's just great seeing and enjoy that.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Week thank you.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Someone and he was always m
