Moss eight to the nine and we got Philly Fred's
for Sean Springs fellas, I'm doing spell y'all bye week man,
oh man, it depends on what the age I was.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
How you spend this past Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
I did nothing because all I did was college football Saturday,
uh Sunday. Didn't have to get up and go to
Norwest Stadium. I just watched football, man, cook some food,
did really nothing, man, We're getting older.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
That yeah, yeah, I'm with him. I was, I was.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
I was a couch potato this week. Like I told
told them the other day on the show. I still
had the dinner in my chair right now, on that couch,
and you can put the tape there.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Said. It was a.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Day dude, y'all I did more than y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
What did you do? Friday night?
Speaker 1 (01:34):
I went to check out a high school football game.
Went to see Nate cleming son, all right, Thomas David's son,
and Thomas David got some nephews.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Man, They boys, they they they got some ball.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
They when check them out. Saturday got up early, man.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
My daughter had my youngest had four field hockey games
in the field hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
So I was kicking it man avant. I hung some
Christmas decorations, the dreams look. Oh no, I'm I'm gonna
send it. I'm sending pictures of the trees so that
y'all can post it them trees look good, man.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
And watched a lot of football. It was some good games.
I'm saying it was some good football. That Bell's game. Man,
it was unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Like I took in some in college football.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
This playoff system there, yes, really, I don't know if
it took away from the championship games though, because the
SEC championship game didn't feel like it meant as much
out of a CC championship game.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I was like, you know, it's kind of funny.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Right telling you, how you speaking of the college football players,
how do you feel about Miami not making the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (02:34):
You know, I was one of those guys. I'm rooted.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
I'm always rooting for my guys, man. But when I
saw that that two game skin in those last three games, man,
I knew, you gotta understand one thing about us in Miami.
We have to be great for them people to appreciate us,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
They're not gonna give us nothing.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
You know, they tired of us being the bad boys
of college football. They want that era to not ever
exist again. So when you see a team like Miami
that was having a good run, had had the best
offense in cottage football, arguably the best quarterback in college football.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
When you have all that going for you and you don't.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Want to show, you would think they'd love to see
you playing that this postseason just you know, postseason, you know, uh,
seating or whatever becomes the city. But it just was
odd to me for us to have that skid, and
then when it came down to saying, okay, we need help,
they weren't gonna give us no help. We don't give
us a hand to get in there. So it's one
of those situations. Man, you know, damn if you do them,
(03:30):
if you don't. But I'm pretty sure those guys down
there feeling effects.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I'm just glad they didn't let John carry name. We
made the playoffs. Mississippi State do this. We rebuilding.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
In the in the words of coach Quinn, we are
retooling right now. We just signed y'all got y'all got
some money down there, but we got some money now, friend,
smoothing to go back and handle is n I M right.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
We ain't finna let a mistake over the state. Like boy,
I got some jokes. I can't sell this.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
See, we've been doing it in I for the last
fifty everybody else is behind.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
So you carry to Washington. Took a pay cut.
Speaker 6 (04:09):
I'm paying taxes, but I can't I'm paying taxes.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I'm playing taxis tey this show.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
Off?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Oh my god, dumbs of the week learning to put
on that chain. But you know, I'm drive.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I'm gonna rock this change the week, fellas the week,
you ain't cool enough to rock this, listen, I ain't
rock the chain at all.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
You know what, that's more of an l all chain.
I can rock the fat chain. I can rock the change. Yeah. Yeah, Well,
you know duves of the week.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
We normally talk about you know who, we're gonna give
a dubbed from the last win. But this week we're
gonna give dubs and we're gonna talk about Pro Bowl bony.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Oh right, I started.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Who's some of the guys you think, man, that has
a chance. I mean this to me, arguably might be
one of the years that our team have at least
four or five guys.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, you know this is this is in recent memory
as far as guys who legitimately deserve to make the
Pro Bowl for our team.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Shoot, we're gonna go.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Jaden Yeah, Terry very easy, be Hodish gods should make it,
Sam cos Me, shoot, Louis Yeah, Dante Fowler Yeah, Dante
followed Jeremy Chin, Yeah, shoot man, that's what hey, guys,
who else am I missing?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Maybe don't forget Trustway always got to make it to
the lead. But when it when the pro bow, but
when it comes to guys, it's all about the wild boards.
That's what I call him the big boys up front
and in Southeast saying cosmic what I call him south
South because when he when I see him brawling with
big Jeffery Simmons in big Swift, I said, I gotta
(05:47):
call him Southeast from now Southeast and be hodish. I
think them do got a legit chance to be first,
like first bid guys up there. And the thing about
Jadi is he got some come petition when it comes
to the quarterback position, because you know how they like
to do it. It's to win in his team's gonna.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Have the money's first in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
But you know the players also get a vote for it,
and you know how they do it. They like to
kind of vote for the guys that's already been established.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
What what other NFC quarterback East?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Jared Well, Jared Golf would be the guy that everybody's
taught them telling the East.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
He got the East boat, but.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
He got the But just looking at the NFC in
general as a whole, Jared golfin mate hurts, but he
hasn't know about sa Quon Barkley the Eagles offense.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, so it ain't hurts.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
You want to look at the winning team to say
who's doing it off of the winning team. I think
Baker going to some some some votes. Also, nobody wants
to talk about that, but he'll going to some votes.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
But it it's some guys out there that can kind
of push him down a little bit.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I think I think Jayden deserve first and foremost to
deserve to make I think he'll make it.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
B Rob. We didn't mention b Rob.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
I know he's had a couple of injuries when he's
when he plays though.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah yeah, pro bone producers.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, most of them had a high level, scores a
lot of touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
The question is can he finish strong to get over
a thousand yards? He's right now like six ninety, Like,
can he finish the season if he finished the season
scrowing up easier?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
I think he can easy. I think he can make it.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
But I know a lot of people would go back
to Detroit because you got to realize who's the running back.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Then you got the Sweden Knuckles over there, and then
you got the b John and Ata, so it's got trouba.
Aaron Jones is playing well. Yeah, yeah, yeah, So.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
It's some guys that running back though close pretty much
for b Rough, I think that, you know, he's having
a great year for us. If he would have been
healthy enough to finish play in some of those games
that he missed, you probably be up there with a
lot of those guys.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Well.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
What we need our fans to do, though, go out
and vote, back out, vote multiple times, voted a ton
of times for our guys. That's the thing that you know,
it's aid, I don't know that we promote our guys.
We are doing a better job. I'm promoting our guys.
Yeah this was yeah this year. Yeah, continue to promote
these guys, you know.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Any that can knock Tarry down, because I think Terry
at the top of the NFC right now just and
he's not having that kind of.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Hey j Brown's not having again a year.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
So when I look at that, now, a rock psy
like Brown, he's a guy that you will bring it
what you call him. I'm a rock sake Brown with
that right or wrong, wrong, I'm an rah. I said
I'm a rock I wasn't. I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Segment you gotta do.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I'm at Brown.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Speaking of pro bo though.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Man, you know talking about some of those guys, what
are some of the things y'all remember, brother, either you
got snub or you know, you went to the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I know plenty of years I was alternate. It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
I think my most fondest memory was the year that
I was a shoe in in two thousand and ten.
But the little incident that happened earlier in twenty ten
with the doctor from Canada. They didn't vote. I didn't
get a vote, yeah, year, And I'm sitting there saying,
I say it was crazy because d Jack was on
our team years later. Yeah, He's like, Tanner, you had
(09:14):
more yards than me and I went to the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
I said, bro, I didn't get a vote that year.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Yes, And so it was just like it bothered me
because the next year was my contract.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Well that was my contract year, and I would have
got paid more because.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Politics, because my agent was even more. He's like, look, man,
you still had a Pro Bowl player. And he was like,
well he didn't make it, Like you know, his numbers
better than all your Pro Bowl guys, so why you
can't pay as a Pro Bowl guy?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
But they were.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Crazy playing here because we wasn't winning, yeah right, and
I had Champ on the other side. Then I got
Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent and Philadelphia with them winning. So
for my first three year, I was an alternate and
they would that's when they used to fly the alternate
out and just in case, just in case you.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Was out in Hawaii.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
Yeah, doing nothing out there, doing nothing but myself. But
one of the time when guys would not yeah right,
I wasn't buying out.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Then guys wanted to opt in.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
No matter if they team were going to the Super
Bowl or not, they was opting in. So just sitting
there watching guys and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
So there's been plenty.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Times I feel like I was snubbed because we wasn't
winning enough. But I always played opposite of a guy
that had the ability to also be a Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yeah you played, you won the number one corner that I.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Was one and a half one five. I was never
a right I made. I made four Pro Bowls in
my career.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Definitely felt like I should have made ten to twelve,
like legitimate ten or twelve.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Pro Bowl He did played twenty years.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Hey man, it don't matter, but I will say this,
you know, obviously was happy when I got the honor,
but it's the ones when you were all out. Yeah,
it's just like, man, what my first year here, oh seven, Man,
we bought out on defense? Yeah, we were top of
(11:05):
no that y'all were number two before I got here.
But when I came here in O seven, I think
we were we were definitely top ten. I had, you know,
a bunch of tackles, interceptions, picks, and they took a
couple of guys over me.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Man. I was hot. And we played We played the
Seahawks in the.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
In the playoff playoffs, so local Totupa was one of
the linebackers, em and Patrick Willis and so we getting
the game. We played, ended up losing the game. So
afterwards we uh, you know, talking to each other.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
He like, London, Man, you know you deserve to make
the Pro Bowl over me.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
He fled out, And.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Yeah, I was like, man, I appreciate that you acknowledged that,
like you knew you wasn't better than me.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
This season I saw that year I became like the
fourth corner in history.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I gave up no touch down. You got to be
on the field to give up a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
I started every game, every game that season, gave up
no touchdown.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
He didn't go to the playoff.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Fred was Fred was on one when he came back.
So I went to a Pro Bowl. I went to
my first Pro Bowl five my first year here when
I was with Jet my first year playing, I was
All Pro, first team All Pro as a returner returner
and didn't go.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
To a Pro Bowl. You don't understand, Yeah, year the
exact next year was it done? How they went? Nah?
It was damn.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
I can't think of the somebody went bro. But it
was odd to me. But the next year, I started
as a receiver in Week five and had almost I
had eleven hundred yards, and they snubbed me for the
Pro Bowl, voting that they gave me an alternate, and
they took your boy from Pittsburgh. And I remember Rodney, Harrison, Tyler,
(12:48):
all them boys, was getting ready to play New England,
and they all came to me and said, hey, young fella,
we voted for you.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Man, you're supposed you're supposed to get in there.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
Bro, you balled out, And I was like, man, it
felt good just knowing.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
This is my pears.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
My peers all say, look town, and you deserve and
that was my first real year of you know, having.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Some Definitely it means more when it's coming from like
these dudes Pole Bowlers all play the guys again you
they played against, They played against all of the slimmers.
For them to recognize me, like, hey man, you should
have been in there, but.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
It was for you.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
It was definitely specially five when I got here because
the one it's like that you go jet see and
then and then to show.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
These guys like this is what I plan to do.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
I want to come out here and be productive, be
the guy that y'all y'all wanted me to.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Can the Pro Bowl Game be Saved's actually the way
the format they have now I went to it in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
It's actually pretty fun because it's more it's entertaining.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
Yeah, because for a long time it was such a privilege,
but it's like, I really want to play.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
But now you see guys in there, like they had
the Ravens quarterback who played the third he made the
Pro Bowl two years ago.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
I'm like, what's going on?
Speaker 4 (14:00):
Like because the first twenty two guys pick say no,
and that's what I say. Can it be saved? To
the point why is it? Why ain't it more All start?
NBA All Star.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Weekend is shit?
Speaker 4 (14:12):
You know what I'm saying, more entertainment than we just
actually here to see y'all guys.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Do you know it's get out.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
It's tough to because it's of our sport is so bisycle,
so physical. It's not something you can do mid mid season.
Like you can't pause the season, come gill for the
Pro Bowl especially and play that game because you know,
whether you're not it's not real physical. When they were
having a real game or not, there was still a
risk of getting an injury. Somebody got hurt in the
(14:42):
in the Pro Bowl games? Was it Miles Garret who
just got hurt a couple of years ago, one.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Of those guys. Yeah, I remember, somebody might hurt.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Yeah, So you're still there's still the risk of injuries.
So I don't ever see them doing it like mid season.
It would probably always be a postseason type of thing.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
People still watch it though, Man I watched it.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
I still up there, and so they don't continue to
have it.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
Like speaking of awards and stuff like that, you know,
that's you know, let's kind of switch over and talk
about some of our other guys on our team who
was either nominees or got, you know, selected for awards.
We got the ed Block Kurage Awards. Oh yeah, something
you're familiar, right, Yeah, most definitely Jeremy Reeves named the
Black Courage Award winner. And then we got my man
(15:25):
Bobby Yellow Jacket White. Yeah, that's he's been named. He's
a nominee for the Walter Peyton Man in the Year Award.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
I think you was nominated for that too, So y'all
speak on those awards man, and being nominated for the
and you win, and you.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Want to I want to speak on that.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Well, it was the year that I played that I
fractioned my stern them a fraction my stern, so I
couldn't practice. All I did was watch them and play
every Sunday, didn't miss the game. In the back of
your mind, you're not like, I'm gonna do this for
the ed Block Award, Like it's one of the things
where they just call you and say, hey, man.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Did you know that you was up for that ward?
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Though, Like when they tell me I was nominated and
they was like, you're nominated for it.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
We'll let you know next week. If you win it.
I wanted.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
I got to go to Baltimore. That's where they fly
everybody in for the end block and blocks from Baltimore,
and we had a great ceremony in Black Time, right, Yeah,
elect tie, its first class everything. I really enjoyed it.
And then man suit on of course I did fresh
out of casket, fresh had clean, like I'm out of cask,
and I enjoyed it. Man, just to be around the
(16:26):
guy that you know, showed some guts and played through
some stuff. And I think it's an adversity award, So
it's award that and the adversity don't have to be
on the field, right, so you know, it could be
off the field. So just to be with some guys
that you know, no matter what they was going through,
they just kept doing what they needed to do. So
it's one of them awards most definitely. I keep the
(16:46):
trophy on a chef up.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah now that that that's a great thing. Congratulations on that.
And then as far as the Walter Payton Man of
the Year, that's a tremendous honor right there. To be
to be nominated by your team, Yeah, that's that's that's
honor in itself. And I had the fortune of being
a finalist back in I think it was twenty eleven, myself,
(17:08):
Brian Waters who played for the for the Kansas City
Chiefs Guard and then Mike Fury, who was a he
actually played here at one point time. He was I
believe he was playing with the Browns at Boy at
that point time.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
We were the finalist. We went to Miami.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
They give a they recognized your foundation and each winner.
I think it was maybe about a twenty five thousand
dollars donation to your foundation, and it's it's for Bobby.
It's just another tremendous example of what he is as
a who who he is as a person to be
nominated because you you recognize and we know what he
does and has done on the football field. But when
(17:44):
you get a recognition for what you do off the field,
is is, you know, tremendous in itself.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
And I want to I want to shout out Roger Goodell.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
The year I ended up not winning that Waters, Brian
Waters won it. But I'll say this when about a
week later there and this is my first time I
was ever telling this. A week later, I got a
check from Roger Goodell and his wife a five figure
check to my foundation.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Yeahlievable stuff they don't talk about with Yeah, and I
blame it.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I never mentioned this and yeah, I just thought about it,
like let me you know. And he didn't do it
for recognition or anything. And I was I was very
you know, humble that he did that for my foundation.
I'm sure he's done that multi more times to other
guys and their foundations.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
So, you know, did he feel that you should have
won the award or you know, I just thought I.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Just thought that it was a situation where so Brian
got the he got the twenty five thousand, and he
probably did it for Mike as well, like you know
what you guys, guys. I enjoyed what you guys are doing.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yeah here, Yeah, yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yeah, it wasn't a situation where he was trying to
pick you, because it wasn't Hey, London, I love what
you're doing.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
It was a handwritten note.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
And on other thing about the Walter Payton thing is
I'm from Mississippi. Walter is from Mississippi. I got to
watch him give firsthand. I got to watch him his
charity work. I got to be a part of his
football camps. You know what I'm saying when I that
was my first football camps was Walter Payton football camps
in Mississippi. So for that to be named after him
(19:23):
and me to see firsthand him give them people in Mississippi,
him take care of families, him nurture us young guys
in football, and the Peyton family, his brother Eddie Payton,
a lot of them do tons of stuff that they
still do in the name of Walter Payton in Mississippi.
So we're still benefitting from him in Mississippi as we speak.
Speaker 1 (19:42):

You're listening to the Players Club presented by Pepsi.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
All right, man, it's time to set the tone. Set
the tone, Set.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
The tone, and we're gonna set the tone by taking
a look at the this week's opponent.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
It's time to set the tone. Brought to you by
Johnson Kendoll.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Johnson the official insurance broker and risk management partner of
the Washington Commanders, where our passion is your protection. The
New Orleans Saints going down to the Bay. You the
big easy yeah Bridge not you?
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Yeah me? All right, man?
Speaker 3 (22:01):
We uh looking at this Saints.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Their offense average three hundred and forty one yards per game,
two hundred twelve yards pass, one hundred and twenty eight
yards rushing. They're dealing with a quarterback situation.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Derek Carr. He's week the week has a fractured.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Le left hand and also and a concussion, so don't
know if he's going to play.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
It can either be Jake Hayner or the rookie Spencer.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Let Tanna, what do who you who you anticipate us
seeing at the quarterback for the Saint It looked like Jake.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
I mean I think they had him first on the
list this week, you know, far as for practices and
stuff like that, and then just to see him getting
the game last week kind of kind of gave me that,
you know that, I guess you could say the green light. Yeah,
he's gonna be the guy that they gonna, you know,
rely on going into the game next week. One of
the things about We were just talking about this earlier
(22:52):
this week. One of the things about playing against the
backup man, you know, and and now you have to
make adjustments on you know what the out for us
this week, it's gonna be h You know, these guys
are gonna be diving into film just watching what he
brings to the game.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
But when you have a.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
Guy like Ivan Kamara in the backfield man, you know
that they're gonna try to find a way to get
this guy the ball.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
The game ain't gonna be on Jake's arm.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
It's gonna be on that dude legs and so Kamar,
you know how that's to me? What are we gonna
do mindset wise in the run game and the passing game.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
But you know he can catch the ball at the
backfield as well too.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
It's probably gonna be one of his shows that where
he's gonna get the ball twenty five times a half.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
I think we're gonna actually see both. I think I
think we're.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Gonna see Jake from State Farm and we also gonna
see Spencer Ralla. I just I got a feeling because
you remember they tried to they threw Spencer Rally into
this game.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
I mean early in the season.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
They threw him in there, all right, they threw him
in there, and I think they look at him as
the future if I if you know what I mean,
And if you want to get him some meaningful reps
at the end of the year, why not do it
against a team, a playoff team.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Why not get him a chance to get better?
Speaker 4 (24:01):
And of course they did throw Jake in there last week,
but I just think because the game was already moving
so fast, and then you gotta understand, when you're going
against a backup quarterback, we.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
Don't have that much fem on there. That what makes
them so dangerous.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
You remember Todd Collins came in and saved I seen
because didn't nobody know what they expect from Todd coll.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
I han't seen Todd in fifteen years.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Yeah, oh she had.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
She had the best job in football for fifteen years.
But when we needed them for that one year, the
chief came in. So I'm not gonna take nothing away
from the Saints team. And we know how the stadium
can get the rocket. It's kind of and we got
so many ties with the Saints. You know, we got
Loder more. Now they got chased yuh Jane Damiens was
playing at LSU, Like, it's just so many intimate ties
(24:47):
right there. We're going to get their best. Whatever they
got left, we're gonna get it.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Oh yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
I'll say this something when you when you're dealing with
the difference between these two quarterbacks. When when Radley, I
think he started two games, was sacked fourteen times.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yes, holds the ball.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, ass As opposed to Hanger, he gets that ball
out quicker. Yeah, goes to his progressions a lot quicker.
So what you're if you're the Saints and Carl can't play,
you probably would want to stay go with Hanger because
he keeps them are on schedule.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Now, the thing that from a from a defensive game
playing standpoint, you mentioned Alfa Kamara. All right, he's gonna
be the guy we got to stop, first and foremost,
stopping him putting the ball, putting it on everything on,
hanging his shoulders to make him beat us. And then understanding, hey,
he wants to get the ball out quickly, so we
(25:40):
how can we stopping.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Is easier saying than done. We realize he leads the
team in receiving, and so everything starts and ends with him,
So I'm thinking early in that game, you know, run, run, scream, scream,
like easy, trying to get us to run east and
west and stuff like that, so they will have a
(26:04):
game play that.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
But where they really depleted.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Of course, they depleted their quarterback anytime you lose your
starting quarterback. But wide receiver, this is where they're depleted.
And valdis scantily. I think he's their number one target
right now. We know he can get deep, but what
else do you have over there? And I think this
the kind of scares me because, like I said, I
got no.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Film on these receivers either, but we got film on
that office and that offensive line.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Can our defensive front get pressure?
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Yeah on the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
I think they can with this officsive line because they're
actually built from the inside out. They're kind of hurting
fret the tackle position right now. And I best passed rushers,
our edge Russiers with Viler and Louvo and the thing
I think that we're going to want to do with
the Saint Sells not make the mistakes we made with
the Cowboys and let them hang around. But we need
to do it start quick. So I'm looking for our
(26:54):
first place. Our first offensive plays to be let's push
it down the field, Let's push the tempo because once
we get them behind, now you have to throw the ball.
Now we take the run away. So I think we're
going to be real, real, like energetic coming out.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, got to as far as Marshawn Lattimore. Yeah, that's
the we don't We don't know at the taping of
this show. We don't know if Latimore is gonna play
Marshal is gonna play man. But I know, well he
may be looking at his revenge. But also it's an opportunity,
first game in Washington for Washington.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah, and you're going back to play. Yeah, you're going
to play your ex wife.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
You're going back a lot about what I'm saying, That's
what it is.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
When the team divorces you and tell you, you know,
we want to move in and move on with doubt you.
So now I want to come back and show that
revenge and show them you shouldn't have So I want
to show.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Back up with my new wife and say, look at this,
that's all about to ask you did you show up?
Speaker 9 (27:59):
What a.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Christmas down?
Speaker 5 (28:10):
You know I was gonna ask you guys, because you know,
I know, we all wanted different you know what I mean.
And you know, most guys, when you leave a situation,
it's not because of you know.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
You know you had in good terms. He can go.
Some of us are leaving good terms. Some of us
leave because it was just time together. When you leave,
because it was time to go.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
So save for instance, myself, when I left the Jets,
I didn't leave the Jets as in, oh he couldn't play,
or we didn't have nothing to do with them.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
It was a better opportunity.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
They're gonna pay me here, you know, cod wanted to
go back. Oh guess what, we can make it happy.
We ain't limber, were ten, and when it comes to
pay them, so let's go ahead and give him what
he wants. And so when I went back to play them,
it was no hard feelings. How y'all doing, man? How
life over here?
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Y'all? All right?
Speaker 5 (28:51):
I was happy, you know what I mean. So I
didn't have revenge in my head. I didn't even want
to get up to really play them. I was like,
you know what, man, I'm just go over there and
play these guys like regular game and get out of here.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
You're a lot better than me because I had revenge.
I saw. I didn't leave even though I didn't, it
wasn't I'm gonna tell you like this.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
When I left the Rams, I was a flat out
dog on the defense. We went to two Super Bowls.
Yead offense got top villain. But let's put it in
work too. And I'm talking in third person. I'm going there.
I'm bringing that off to ego out. And so when
they when they sent me, they gave me that offer
(29:36):
before I headed the free agency, I'm like, man, what
is this? It was discount. I don't believe in this count.
Damn sh ain't giving you your hometown discount. My play
on the field ain't gonna be no this time. So
when I left in with the Buffalo and we played
the Bills, we played them in the preseason and we
played them in the regular season, I let them know,
(29:57):
like y'all gonna miss me and y'all gonna feel me.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
That's a little that's a little different, though, because you.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Felt spied, you felt like they showed disrespected you feel.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
You know, y'all, guys, I came out here, let on
the line for you guys, and you didn't want to
pay me. Now me, on the other hand, I probably
could have took that kind of notion and say, damn
y'all didn't think I was worth that money. But be
honest with you, I never wanted to go to New York,
you see what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (30:21):
So it was like a I didn't want to be here.
When when you did you play Washington? When you were
so you came back here? You remember, remember when we
beat you all to day I was when I came
back and played here, I was not spiteful because I
was still got paid.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Yeah, I still I got paid, but I also still
loved this place. So when I came back as a Viking,
yes I wanted to win, and yes we did win.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
But my revenge game is when.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
I went back to uh the Vikings as a Washington
football player.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
We went back and had to beat them to go
to the playoff fire.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
So I felt seven right seven, and we started that
game on third player. I'm walking down the sideline sixty y'alls.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
You know what I'm saying with that tainted in my head, laughing, So.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
I felt to hear that crowd, that Minnesota crowd, I know,
I heard some smooths in there. But I heard some
booze and I love it. Just marrying nady you is,
so yeah, it is something about that. So I'm sure
my shun ladder more because you know how you want
to like kind of force yourself.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
I got to play.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
I don't care for my finger broke. I don't care
what's going on. I want to play this game. And
then if from him, I'm just gonna get you out
of mind of a dB right here.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
From him, I'm like, man, they ain't got no receivers.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
I'm finna go out here and work these guys. Like
I'm going to go out here and I'm finna work
these guys.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
In New Orleans. Now, can see if it was here
in New Orleans where this kid just left from.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
And let's be honest, they didn't leave on the best,
you know, relationship.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
So yeah, he wants revenge, you know.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
And y'all talk about when we talked about backup quarterback.
Think about this. When he was a Saint, the backup
quarterbacks were the stout team quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
He know everything.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
He knows Tennessee, knows their strengths, and.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
He knows everything.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Yeah, and I'm wondering because you know how coaches do,
especially when they get us from another team. I'm sure
they picking his brain about everything that's going on with
the New Orleans Saints, good, bad and ugly.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Another guy on this uh on this defense playing out
standing in Jeremy Chin is actually gonna be on the
show later on today, Fred, What what do you expect
to see from Jeremy? He knows the NFC South, well
knows the Saints. What do you expect from him?
Speaker 4 (32:37):
Just just knowing that relationship, knowing them people, knowing how
they carry on, understanding that he's played in that environment
one hundred times. He understands who that nation gonna show
up no matter what. And I think with him and
Latimer on them guys, like you said, playing in that divinsion,
being there for a long time, I think it just
helps him feel at home. Like I'm sure this all
(33:00):
his away games that's been with the with the South,
He's like, I've been doing this all the time.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
And that's when we get to share some secrets. This
guy does this.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
This guy don't like this, So I think it's gonna
hit the defensive backfield most definitely.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
I think it didn't help them all. You when it
came to this division.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Let's let's look at the Saints defense.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
We got our old friend Chase Chase Young, who actually
had a really good.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Game, I say, living precious in the last game.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah he was, he was out there, he was on one.
But look at the Saints defense. They did thirty fen
total yards per game, twenty eighth against the past, giving
up one hundred and twenty eight yards of rushing.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Our run game going back two.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Weeks ago, which was yeah, two weeks ago against the
Tennessee Titans, ran for two hundred and sixty.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
That's what we are. Over two hundred sixty. Y'all tell
people this.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
We are a sexy version of old Georgia Tech football.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Nobody won't to say it. We are.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
When we at our best, we are running for two
hundred plus yards a game, and they south in the
middle of that defense. So we're gonna have to attack
the middle of that defense. I love the honey Badger,
but if you're ever gonna attack him when he's down
in their box, you run at him with with a
b rob Here, I want to introduce you to somebody,
honey Badger.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
So it's it's I.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Think at the end of the day to start that
game off, it gotta be with the run game.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
I understand that kind of soft.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
That corner because we took we subtracted one of their corners.
But I think it's all about their run game and
the big d tackle of BC.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
I know I said that right he but of a
couple of names, he can he can play.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
He blocked that extra point. I mean at the field
goal last week. He can play. So they got guys
at every level. They got to Mario Davis in lineback.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
He been doing Itney. He reminds me of his career, reminds
me a lot of Yo.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
He's been playing up here, but he never gets the
respect that I think he deserves. And of course they
got the Honey Badger on the third level, so they
got players.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
That definitely got players.
Speaker 5 (34:56):
And I think also one of the things that you
mentioned is what I mentioned on Command Center with what
makes us special and what I want to see from
Jayden going forward, especially this week, is Jaden being a
leaf th the weapon with his legs. Yeah, I mean,
because I think that would slowed things down for him
as a quarterback when you able to dictate and have
the defense guessing on what you're going to do as
(35:18):
the quarterback, the one that he can break one or
two you know what I mean with his legs.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
You know you're allowed to play in your hands.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
Yeah, it changes how we called it, changed how changes
how you guys call things. But it's also allowed him
to settle down and now know that you know what,
I don't have to sit back here and you know,
be forced to throw the ball. If they're going to
sit back and drop back and coverage. I could take
off a couple of times, and he did that well
early in the season. I want to see him get
back to that. I saw a little bit of that
in Tennessee, you know, when we played against Tennessee. So
(35:46):
I think going forward, especially against these Saints on the fast,
fast surface, I want to see him use them legs
to get these guys to be sent back there. Talking
about their emotional revenge Chase, he doesn't gonna feel.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Like this revenge game. Oh yeah, he can't. He can't
help us feel that way.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
And you know again, I will feel the same way
if I was saying. But sticking with the with Jaden
and also trying to you're the perfect person to ask
about this.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
The connection to him and.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Terry have had it's it's for a rookie.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
And uh, you know these guys being together for their
first year to be able to put up these type
of numbers, have this type of chemistry together.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
What do you think has been the.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
Key communication communication? I think I'm you know, I'm laughing
and thinking about what Fred said that he was talking.
Fred say, you ain't had no you ain't had no
damn what you call on none of your quarter relationship relationship.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
You ain't no relationship. Just used to walk out there, man,
get me the ball and me throw. He was so
damn right. I was like, man, BRI's coming to work
and leave you relationship. I will say this though, I
will say this.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
The one person that I think I tried to get
more in tune with this was Robert.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
When Robert was young.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
Yeah, I was at that state in my career where
I felt like, damn, I got a little more safe.
So then I, you know, I go out here and
you so I'm gonna go ahead and start talking to him,
and so me and Robert will come after practice, you know,
and thinking, but I'm coming in as a slot guy.
Now my reps are, you know, So I would come,
I would go out to practice and do everything that
I did in practice with him, just so he can
get familiar with.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Me how I break and how I'm doing.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
So when I'm watching these guys on on tape and
watching them live in games, you can see Terry very.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Vocal on the sideline. You can see Terry.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
He's even said that in some of his interviews that
I told coaches that I'm this guy playing me this way,
give me this ball. That Cincinnati game was all about
him saying, hey, move me to the right side. Then
he went out there and gave him a stutter. So
communication is key, and I think you can tell that
these guys have there that they're starting off on the
right foot because of Terry being the guy he is,
being the leader that he is, and just being you know,
(37:51):
sounding what they do. You know, it's one thing about
communicating to a guy and saying that hey, I need this,
so I see this. But you can tell the reps
are showing up too.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
And I think he earned Jayden's trust because that's what
I think you had to do as a wide receiver
when the quarterback you didn'et got so much trust that
I can.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Throw to you blindly.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
That ball in the gold line in Baltimore, that's a
trust route. The one in the back of the end
zone in Baltimore, that's what I need to trust you.
Rout Cincinnati. I'm finna take this league. I'm just throwing
this ball up.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I have to trust you. So I think it's the
trust thing.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
And one thing Terry can do contesting catches is what
he does.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
He leaves the NFL and cones catches since, yeah, he's
leading him. I wish I had the stat right, but
he had like maybe about twenty more contesting catches than anybody.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Yeah, and if you really want to join up, I'm
earning my trust that play against Dallas when he Jerry
writes everybody like, tell you know the one thing about
Jared with nobody catching him front the back, you really
don't know how fast you are, Jared, but nobody could.
When I seen him more that grass, I said, ain't
no Terry on the lung side.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Like that boy, he had that gear. Man, I'm like
that special right there.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
It was a good segue for Drive Time, presented by
Eastern Automotive Crew, Any Car, Anyway for everyone since nineteen
eighty eight and on drive time this week, man felt,
as we're gonna talk about some of our memories are
playing against the Thing Saints. You know, I got some
fond memories London. You played against these guys about twelve times.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Yeah, everybody, one hundred.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
A lot of memories, yeah, yeah, a lot of gifts.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
I think I did well. When I was in Saint Louis,
they were in our division. We played them twice a year,
all right, all right, yeah, yeah it was. They used
to be in the NFC West back then, and we
used had some battles against them. But always I love,
especially going into New Orleans because that environment, crazy environment
that fans get into it.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
They get lathered up. Yeah they're gonna start early.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
They get the game and tell games and getting ready
and but it's it's a great environment. The one that
stands out the most to me, Well, I got two
because I picked off Brooks twice.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
Yeah I got I got him twice.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Then I got twice.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Well I got it twice in the same game, not
twice the same game. Yeah, so that stands out. But
also twenty twelve when we went there, rookie Roberts rookie.
Speaker 6 (40:26):
Year O my game season, they was I mean that game, right,
that was Robert coming out point.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that was that was a good one.
Hey man.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
We played up so we played quarters coverage, and so
I'm covering Jimmy Graham the way we have to.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
We used to do our quarters coverage. You had to carry,
I had to carry. I won't turning them on y'all.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
The corners that y'all was, they were doubling the court
the receivers. So, I mean Jimmy was six six. Drew Breese, man,
he high pointed that fall. I'm never witty, but he
still keeps catching the ball like damn. So this is
happened ball three times and uh but Williams is a safety,
so that's what is the position. But he won't like
(41:12):
he won't hit any doing so one time he catches
the ball, I said, man, hit that mother. So later
on of the game, see covered for I actually pay
break the pass up.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
But dude, I hit him to two seconds late? Were
you in the game that we played.
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Drew Brees at FedEx Field and Kareem intercepts the ball,
starts to run the ball, the receiver knocks the ball
out of it.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
The way that was the craziest blake.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
Then I remember playing on when Brooks was there, when
they had Joe Horn and they had Wrecky Williams, and
I would remember going into that statement was the first
time I got to play the Saints and they were
still rocking them bags over their heads at the time.
They were the Anks at the time, but they had
a high power with offense. They can throw the ball
around and this when I this, when I got a
(42:13):
pick checking Joe Horn, I was like, you ain't pulling
out no cell phones on me, baby. The plus, I
had the thing going with the Saints because all of
my Mississippi guys that I grew up playing with, all
of them got drafted by the Saints. Deduce McAllister playing
for the Saints, Grady Jackson playing for the Saint like
so it was like eight Mississippi dudes, so over there
with Joe Horn them. So before the game, they talked
(42:34):
trash to me, sell out, you sell out, You're supposed
to be over here with us with the rest of
the Mississippi boy Like Noah, I like it in d C.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:41):
One of my funnest memories of them was zoing first
year I had a game win against them at home
in fed X.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
It was eight the sun was out that day. It
was a nice day.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
Man.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Was that quarterback was Bree? That quarterback Breing?
Speaker 5 (42:53):
Yeah, the quarterback, and I remember it was a post
call and z On I remember Zoing calling and changing
the play on the sideline came over.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
That's one of the things I loved about cos On.
He was here. I am in my I forgot what
year that was? Problem year? Eight?
Speaker 5 (43:06):
Yeah, but I just had that marvelous season in five
and then we changed the offense six and O seven
and then eight On coming this thing and say, tanor
I care, that's what we do. I got to get
you the ball players over. And that's how he was, man.
And I'm mad that we didn't win with On.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
We didn't nurture it.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
And we got off on the good with six and two.
I think it was six and two. Yeah, we started
out sixty two. But I remember that game. We came
here the sideline and On say, Tanna, what route you
want and I'm like, really, I said, give me a
post yeah, post it is.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
I went out there.
Speaker 5 (43:40):
I said, you know that was my rock or post Yeah,
them my two routes.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
So I forgot the young man. And it's crazy because
the Saints went to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (43:49):
I believe that year, what's it eight.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Was the guy that won.
Speaker 5 (43:56):
I remember him when I watched the Super Bowl and
Greg went over there.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
I remember he.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
Caught pick on Reggie or something like that and scored
in the Bowl. But I remember he was young then.
He was a rookie, I believe, and I forgot his
name was twenty two.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
I know exactly. I see him right now.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
Everybody you don't get.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
You know, we can, we can picture it. Yeah. So
I remember I got in the hudder.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
I say Jason that I don't care what happened, because
you know, Jason went them cats. He hesitated, you hold
on And I said, Jason, do not matter what happened,
throw it. Yeah, I'm gonna beat him. Yeah, man, I
went and gave you know how, I gave him a
little stem and like I was gonna go around him
on the fade and put that foot in the ground
and went high. And you know, as you on the
fear on the route, you don't see what's going on.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Yeah, in the backfield.
Speaker 5 (44:39):
But when I got home after I scored and stuff,
and I went home and watched the game Jason normally
he got pressure, he reset and then threw it.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
And that was the first time you've seen him do that.
I ever seen him.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
It was because I told him, don't matter what happened,
you throw that damn Yeah. So that was kind of
like you talking about having communication or talking about having
a trust. That was when we broke that barrier, because
I think I played with him those six and seven
and Rocky seasons with him.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
Yeah, but that was the startup.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
And I had one thousand yards and O eight that
year that particularly I'm talking about with that particular plate.
So but and then I had another game with them, man,
and in New Orleans. I remember that that stood out
in O nine, I scored a touchdown up there. I
was going against one of my childhood you know, my
my cousin childhood friend, Mike McKenzie.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Yeah, I grew up watching Mike. Great football player. Because
to this day Mike Michael hit me up man and
hollered at me. Man.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
He's one of those guys. But I remember, you know,
when you have a thing back at home, it's something
about Miami. Any guy that grew up in our inner cities,
whether you went to Carroll City like I did, or Norland.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
They was one of our rivals, our local rivals. Mike
went to Norland.
Speaker 5 (45:54):
So guys would hit me up during the week, like
eight chiefs against Vikings. You better eight because Norlan was
the Viking and he was the chief, Like you bet not,
you bet not? Let him, I'll do us. And I'm like,
who I got that?
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Who? And I look it's Mike ma Canzie. Yeah, And
I remember we got what out? You know what out?
Speaker 3 (46:12):
And you got so much energy.
Speaker 5 (46:13):
I made sure, I said, I got getting his paint
against Mike, getting his paint against Micy. Get on me
some home cookie, yeah, man.
Speaker 2 (46:20):
But yeah, that was always good going to the Saints. Man.
Speaker 5 (46:22):
I got a lot of good memories of wins. So
I'm hoping our guys go out there and do just that.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
Hey, so I'm looking at this, these stats that we
had against the Saints, and I'm assuming these are correct. Fred,
you said you had how many picks against the Saints?
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Too?
Speaker 1 (46:38):
I only see you with one lips to.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
Tell a lie. You had what a p This is wrong.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
From people in the background, because it might all right
because that was a Viking.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
My fault. What you mean thank you. I was a
Viking when I got one of those. No, this is
just you would gets the Saints here trying to fact
shake the trying to shake down that matter. Whether he
was a Viking a redskin, no matter.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Now did I see your twelve games against the Saints
and you only had one point five tackles?
Speaker 2 (47:21):
No that sacks, I mean sacks and sixty three tackles
upbout them solo tackles. Well, I haven't seen you jump
on the pile, loney. I have seen you on the pile.
TfL's two picks twelve game. So you just.
Speaker 4 (47:37):
Having two picks four from you you averaging almost eight
caples the game and get there.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
So long? Ain't that good? God? Two picks? You had one? Well,
this is what they say, apparently to tell a lie.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
Maybe that pick came in a precepson When we were
getting ready for this show, I knew it was.
Speaker 2 (47:59):

on your first year here Washington?
Speaker 7 (49:48):
Yeah, Man, it's been cool. I mean really everything that
I expected, plus some just being in the city, being
around the Span base. Man, it's a lot of passion around.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
Here most definitely. Man.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
How's it being planned for Joe Wick because it seemed
to be he's unlocking Somemer You are very comfortable in
that defensive backfield. How's it being played for coach?
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (50:05):
I like working with you know, one thing as a player,
like he's working with a coach, one thing you always
want is from and tell you the truth and everything. Yeah,
you know, he's an honest coach that he knows what
he wants and what he expects and he makes that
very clear to the players.
Speaker 5 (50:18):
One of the things about coming over from another team,
you know me, London, we were just talking about you
know us.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
You know London, you can't move on the trade no, no, Yeah,
they signed I came up on the signed me to it.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
They gave me a bag.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
You know I had something to do with that. Let
me ask question.
Speaker 5 (50:40):
Now, But what I was trying to get to the
point I'm trying to make When you're coming over from
another team, I think every player want to make an
impact on that team, show them what their worth was,
and also proved to the team that they left that
you know, they mixed up. What was your thought process
coming here and when it was time for you to
go out on the field, do you feel that you
prove whatever what's going on in your mind, you know,
(51:02):
right about you know you coming over here and everything.
Speaker 7 (51:04):
Yeah, I mean, like you said, when when you come
from a different squad and you you know you're in
somewhere new, like you want to show.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
That, like.
Speaker 7 (51:12):
I've been a good player. Yeah, you know I was
a good player, you know last year in the situation
I was in. It was just you know, certain circumstances
don't you know, go as as playing all the time.
But I know, I think everything works out for a
reason how it's supposed to. But uh yeah, I mean
I definitely came here with a chip on my shoulder
and I still have it. It's not going towhere.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
So let me ask you this.
Speaker 3 (51:30):
When you saw the schedule come out, you.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
See the Carolina path, Yeah, on the on the schedule,
did you circle that or did you or did you like?
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Okay, this game?
Speaker 1 (51:41):
I know, I'm I'm I'm looking forward to this game
to show them, show them what they're missing.
Speaker 7 (51:47):
Yeah, I mean I already knew at weak seven when
it when it came out in the schedules, like that's
the game. I'm looking forward to even every game before
then because I want I want them to see me
on film, like damn, you gotta play against them. But yeah,
now that definitely definitely is an important week. When he
playing your old squad.
Speaker 4 (52:02):
It was a lot of your free agents came at
one time. I almost flipped the whole locker room, almost
seventy percent of y'all. How was that man coming in
because usually you have like half of the team is
still there. But y'all came together and y'all seem to
have a true brotherhood.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
How did that happen so quick?
Speaker 5 (52:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (52:18):
I mean that's the cool thing about it, Like when
you come to a new squad, that's kind of you
got to adjust to everybody and everything kind of how
they do things. But here, like everybody was new, so
we really got to create it like how we wanted
it to be. So there was a whole bunch of
new faces, like you said, seventy percent over the squad. Yeah,
so he really came in and made our own thing.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
Speaking of adjustment, I wanted to ask the question of
just watching you guys in the secondary. That's one of
the things we talked about nauseum last year about the communication.
It wouldn't see that you guys are hitting on all cylinders.
What has been that, how's that process been like? And
what is this going to be going forward?
Speaker 2 (52:54):
Having a new guy in now you know how you
know my man? Yeah, I mean just.
Speaker 5 (52:58):
Knowing what he brings the table, like that transition is
going to you know, work for you guys.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (53:02):
I mean when it comes to communication and being on
the same page, like you can't shy away of just
taking the time actually to do that. So I mean,
whether it be extra time in the mornings or like
being super intentional and walkthroughs and just being loud like
even in meeting rooms, like making the calls and you
get used to hearing that on the field, because like
you heard it the meetings you hear at eight a m.
On a Wednesday, so you know coming on Sunday like
(53:25):
you used to that.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
Okay, so let's talk. Let's talk some real stuff here.
I was a hooper. No, you're not smooth acts like
you got you got these like you're from You're from Indiana. Yeah,
basketball capital state? What six three could you hoop? And
(53:46):
did you hoop a high school? What was your game
like you do play?
Speaker 7 (53:49):
I wasn't always six three, late groser, I had a
late Grosperderyah. I ain't touched six three till I was
in college. Real, I mean, I didn't play basketball in
high school. I ran track football, I played I played
basketball all the way up until about seventh grade. I
wasn't a real hooper for real, but I did like
to play. I'm defense though.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
It's only one real hoop here, and it's me.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
Don't worry, don't worry, don't worry about it. What does
what does Jeremy chen like to do when it's not football?
Not just what you did on your back? We just
some interest, you know me. I'm an outdoors and I
like to fish. I like to grow things.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
What about you, man, Man, I like to get outside.
I like to fish and do all that stuff. But
I mean I kind of I kind of figure out
new hobbies and what I like to do with my time.
Sometimes I like to produce music. I make beats. I
like to cut hair. So I got like a little
You was telling.
Speaker 4 (54:39):
Me about that when we was at another event, that
you that you and one like to cut hair. So
were you always the team bobber because we always got
a team bomber in college.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
I was a little bit of that, yeah, because some
teammates hare.
Speaker 2 (54:53):
What are some of the things you do up here
in d C?
Speaker 5 (54:55):
I mean, you know, one of the things that we
learned fast that he got it up by.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
D C being being being a guy that came here.
He enjoyed the night. I'm hoping you ain't enjoying too
much to night. Don't take none of his What is
some of the things you like the city? Man?
Speaker 7 (55:12):
I like to eat, so like anytime I can find
a new restaurant or whatever, then my girl will go
eat it something. Uh, it's a lot of history, so museums,
seeing the monuments and all that stuff. So I mean
it's his story. Like, this's my first time really being
out in d C. So like just coming here, so
much history, it's always something to do.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
You said you like to produce peace.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Kendrick, Lemar and Drake, where are you at one?
Speaker 2 (55:39):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 7 (55:40):
I can't say I picked the side, but but Kendrick
definitely won the battle that they had. But I still
listen to both. They both still in my rotate.
Speaker 1 (55:49):
Are you're planning to go to Kendrick when he's he's
a Wich State when he will be at no Wist
Stadium in May?
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Yeah? I think it may niggas.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
Charlotte make third Yeah, yeah, I'm gona check him out.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
Yeah, loved to be the old guy. The concert time.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
You smooth talked about a bunch of guys coming together.
One guy that you knew prior to coming here. You
were teammates with him before. Frankie Lou. Frankie has been
playing out standing in football. A lot of people outside
of Charlotte didn't know about Frankie and what he brought
to the table. Well you, what's it like playing with
(56:30):
Frankie on the football field?
Speaker 2 (56:32):
Fine?
Speaker 7 (56:35):
All energy, right, all energy like like he brings it
every every week, every player is just like I just
need someone what it was got.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Whatever of that. He is the guy that brings the energy.
Speaker 4 (56:52):
But I want to talk about the defensive backfield as
a whole because I feel like individually all y'all been
playing very good and collectively y'all getting better every game.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
What do you what do you think is the key
to that?
Speaker 4 (57:03):
I know coach with his mental capacity to do that,
but y'all seem to have a true relationship back there.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (57:09):
I mean, like you said, the time that we put
into it, and like just the work that we put in,
Like we talked, We talked so much, like throughout the week. Yeah,
talk between players during players like we constantly communicate and.
Speaker 4 (57:21):
Then and then adding this new piece with Lattimore though,
it's the thing, like you're talking about a true ship
down corner, you know what you got in that commodity?
How has he been? Because I hear you kind of quiet?
So how has he he came into the mix so far?
Speaker 7 (57:34):
Man, He's been great. Man, He's I mean been a sponge. Yeah,
you know, he's something I can I can go up
and talk to, like, hey, like how do you feel
about this? How do you feel about that? He's like, man,
just just give me the call, and like I'm gonna
play it and I'm gonna do it like.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
A ship down over What was that? What was that?
What was the whole talk in the big team meeting room?
Speaker 5 (57:55):
And I you don't have to give us everything, but
what was the message to you guys going into the
buy and what that message now coming back?
Speaker 2 (58:01):
First day off the by.
Speaker 7 (58:04):
I mean anytime we split up, it's always protect the team. Yeah,
all the time, but I mean just just a journey
that we're about to get about to be on. Just
take it one step out of time, one game out
of time. Yeah, like every everything we want, everybody knows
it's still in front of us. So just one step
out of time. Don't don't get too far ahead. Just
(58:25):
be in a moment and give everything that we got
these last you know, however long.
Speaker 3 (58:29):
What's it like playing for d Q man, Dad Quinn?
Speaker 1 (58:32):
Everybody I couldn't play for it was.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Playing for d Q Man.
Speaker 7 (58:44):
He's just a real dude.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
Man.
Speaker 7 (58:46):
I don't even know how to explain it, but I
mean everybody's behind him. Just the way he talks like,
you know, it's genuine it's real, like the way he
can get like guy's motivated to just go out and
just buy into everything that that we've built here so far.
You're real, dude. I love playing for.
Speaker 4 (59:02):
By the way, Drake one, Yeah please, it was like
I skinned dudes.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
