Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome into the lounge presented by DraftKings. I'm Ryan Mink
here with Cliff Don Brown, and we are gonna give
you our final fifty three man roster predictions. These are
We've done the pencil. We've done the pen This is
the one that gets laminated, Cliff, Okay, all right. So
the Ravens beat the Washington Commanders thirty to three today
(00:25):
to cap a undefeated preseason slate for the Ravens. My
plan for the year, I don't know, Cliff, You let
me know what you think. Is like, how about we
just don't lose, period, we just don't lose.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
That would be cool.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Let's sign up for that.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
We'd all remember a season like that for sure. Right.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Yeah. So before we get to our roster predictions, I mean,
a good preseason, I think that the Ravens just to
kind of big picture, like, you have to feel good
coming out of this preseason. A first and foremost, you
stayed healthy. You know, there's only one player with a
projected significant role that's in question for Week one, I
(01:07):
mean other than ourd area's watching. That injury happened a
while ago, but Isaiah likely from the start of training
camp till now Isaiah likely is the only player that
went down with an injury that could impact him in Buffalo.
So that's check mark, big check mark there. And then
I think the offense, the starters, the first string offense
(01:28):
and defense I think got in really good work in
the training camp, Like the defense is Bawne. Offense looks
really good. And then you get to these preseason games
where the starters don't play and the backups look really good,
and you know there are the Ravens backups are dominating
other teams backups. That's what you also want to see
from a depth perspective and player development perspective.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Right, We've been saying the Ravens might be the deepest
team NFL, and they looked like it during the preseason,
as you mentioned, Yet the Washington game was the most
that's our example to me of when Yeah, the Ravens
backups looked far superior to watching his backups that game.
They dominated from the start. Raves did two touchdown drives
(02:11):
right away, just rolled down the field defense making plays. So, yes,
the Ravens got better I thought as the preseason went along.
I think they feel as good or maybe even better
about their team than they did when training camp started,
and that's what you want.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yep, absolutely agree. So with that, Cliff, let's jump into
our fifty three man roster predictions. Listeners can go on
and check out Cliff's commentary also in his final breakdown
that's posted on the website app right now. But we'll
give you a little more context behind cliffs picks picks
(02:52):
as well as my selections. And so Cliff, let's just
start it out on offense with quarterback here. Both have
the same thing. Lamar Jackson, Cooper Rush. Head coach John
Harwell did say after Saturday's game that he expects Lamar
to practice on Monday, which is great news, you know,
(03:13):
unless Lamar doesn't feel like practicing on Monday. But from
a health standpoint, I think that, like the Ravens, believe
that Lamar will be healthy enough to practice and so
very good news. After I know there are a lot
of Ravens fans kind of sweating it out when he
left practice after getting his footstepped on.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Absolutely right, right, So yeah, I mean I think that
you know, not to jump in there, but Lamar and
Cooper Rush I think has played better as the preseason
went along, and obviously he was brought in here to
be a backup who if something happened with Lamar, could
we could win games with the Ravens, could keep the
(03:53):
offense going with him at the helm. He's proven he
can do that with the Dallas Cowboys. I think his
comfort level really he jumped the last couple of weeks
with the new offense. And so yeah, I mean Lamar
it's great news that he can get back to practice
next week, but down the road, if something happens to
him this season and he has to miss a few games,
(04:15):
I think the Ravens still feel better about their situation
now with Cooper Rush playing the way he did the
last couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, I agree. I feel more confident about the backup
quarterback situation today than I did let's say, three weeks ago.
And and you know that's to be expected a guy
in a new offense. It's going to take time and
reps and end preseason game reps. And as Cooper Rush said,
you know that's important stuff for somebody like him who's adjusting,
you know, to playing quarterback for a new team. And
(04:45):
you know, I think that if Cooper Rush were to
see time, it would probably be a fairly heavy run
running attack. You know, that's what we saw at the
beginning of this game. It was run, run, run, run,
run the Ravens just by virtue of they can beat
you in any many different ways. That's probably what they
lean on. And trust. You have to trust keep a
Rush to make smart decisions and make some key throws.
(05:07):
And I think he showed over the past two priests
in games that like he can definitely do that. You know, So,
Devin Leary, I would expect uh would be under serious
consideration for the practice squad. But Lamar and Rush on
the fifty three all right, running back the obvious three here,
Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell and Rashine A Lee
(05:30):
is been making a push for that fourth roster spot. Cliff,
you think he's done enough.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I do, And more importantly, I think that John Harball
on the coaching staff think he's done enough. Yes, I
mean Rashine I Li definitely an interesting case. I feel
that when training camp began, hardly anyone at least in
the media was talking about Rashe and a Li being
on the fifty three man roster. I mean, no shade
(05:56):
on him, It's just that the Ravens are so strong
at that position, and you could still make a case, well,
why do the Ravens need to put him on a
fifty three even though he has looked good in the preseason.
But I think his versatility for sure helps him as
a special teamer, not just a return special teamer, but
(06:16):
playing on the special team's units. Obviously the way he
looked during the preseason, his ability as a pass catcher,
and also I think there's a feeling that, you know,
the Ravens are a run heavy team. If any of
their running backs get nicked up, they want to have
depth at that position, and he is shown during this
(06:36):
preseason that you know he can help you in a
lot of ways. He's a much better player than he
was last year, and it was a long shot for
him to make the Ronster, but I believe that he
has done it for me.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
I think Rashina a lee and this decision comes down
to special teams, and John Harball said he's on all
of their units, coverage and otherwise, and really between he
and Keaton Mitchell, they basically have two kick returners. You
send two guys back there. And I think that as
(07:07):
much as we all want Keaton Mitchell and think that
he has the tools to be a dynamic kickoff returner,
of which we expect more kickoff returns this year because
of the new rules. As much as we think that
Keaton like can do that, he didn't do it at
all in college, and so like we haven't really seen
a lot of it, a lot of evidence that of that.
(07:30):
Yet I still think he can. But like rashin On
Lee has been the better kick returner in preseason games. Now,
Keith Mitchell missed one game but and didn't really play
but today in the preseason finale. But I think that
Rashina Lee's shown himself to be a pretty darn good returner,
had a long return against the Colts in the first
preseason game, and so I think that he offers something there.
(07:52):
And if you're gonna have also Keaton Mitchell, you know
the obvious injury history with him. He's missed some time
also due to a hamstring in this training camp. So
I think that to your point of depth is good.
And I think that special teams really is what wins
rashin A Lee a spot on the fifty three man roster,
because offensively, it's tough to see how he would get
(08:15):
much action if there weren't an injury. All right, yeah,
wide receiver. I think we're both in agreement here with
six wide receivers Dave Flowers for Sean Bateman, DeAndre Hawkins,
Tyler Wallace, Davontes Walker, and Lejonte Wester. The rookie sixth
(08:35):
round pick entered training camp. I think we all thought
that he was probably the leader for that sixth spot
given his punt return abilities, and then he returned one,
took one back to the house in the preseason opener,
and that pretty much stealed the job, and he's been good.
It was a wide receiver, so I think Lejontay Western
claimed that sixth spot absolutely.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
I mean, yeah, he's an electric returner, which I think
is not easy to do immediately when you make the
jump from college to the NFL. He's shown he can
be explosive as a returner, very aggressive catching the ball,
doesn't like to let it bounce, and once he catches it,
he's looking to turn up field. So that was kind
(09:18):
of the biggest I don't know, mystery or a question
was who was gonna be the punt return this year?
Would Western be able to handle as a rookie, it
looks like he can. But I mean, Devontes Walker has
really maybe improved to me as much as any Raven
from year one to year two. I still think it's
going to be difficult for him to get a lot
of touches when the whole wide receiver crew is healthy
(09:40):
with Flowers and Bateman and now Hopkins at the top.
But Walker definitely to me has a future as an
NFL wide receiver. He's kind of shown that for the
last two or three months making plays. So this is probably,
in my opinion, the strongest group of wildeouts the Ravens
have ever had from top to bottom.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Yep, yep, totally agree, all right, tight end, I think
that we're in agreement here as well. The one question
mark here was with Isaiah Likely and you know he's
coming back from the foot injury and whether you keep
him on the fifty three man roster or not. We
both decided that we would We think he will be
(10:19):
kept on the fifty three. So it's Mark Andrews, Isaiah likely,
Charlie Kohler, and then pat Ricard is your tight end
slash fullback to me? With Isaiah likely a the Ravens
haven't ruled him out for week one. Even if he's
not gonna play in week one, if you think that
he is capable of coming back for Week four or earlier.
(10:41):
Week four is a huge game against the Kansas City Chiefs,
so you might be battling them, and the Bills I
would expect are the you know, the two teams the
Ravens are gonna be battling for the top seed in
AFC in the playoffs. So if you think he can
play against the Chiefs, to me, it's worth a fifty
three man roster spot because that's a massive game and
he's a great player.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Really, I think that's the thinking. I mean, obviously, if
he is on all right, that's a problem that you
know he's not playing the first four and that maybe
it's going to take him longer to recover than we hope,
So we hope you don't see that, and yeah, you
take the chance of putting him on the ronster knowing
you're still deep at that spot with Andrews and Cohler
if he can't play, and hopefully by week four the latest,
(11:24):
he's back in the lineup. So I do expect him
to be one of the fifty three Isaiah likely.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Yeah, all right. Next to is offensive line, and we'll
go with the slam dunks. Here. You have Ronnie Stanley
Andrew Voor He's he won the left guard job. You
have Tyler Linderbaum at center, Daniel Folele at right guard,
and Roger rose Garden at right tackle. There's you're starting
five right there. That's official been named. The starters. The
(11:51):
backups Joe Noteboom, Ben Cleveland. Noteboom's your top tackle backup.
Cleveland's your your I think guard backup. I have Corey
Bullock on as your top center backup. And then you
have Carson Vincent, the fifth round draft pick, who's more
of a developmental prospect at tackle. You know, can he
(12:12):
become your backup offensive tackle, your sixth man next year?
I think is kind of the vision for him. For
Carson Vincent, I wouldn't expect that. He's probably active on
game days. But that's nine offensive linemen, and for me,
the question was whether you keep nine or ten. The
tenth would be a competition between rookie seven er and
(12:32):
pick Garrett Dellinger or Nick Semac most likely. I think
Darien Dalcourt would be in that mix. As well as
a guard. So I think they keep nine. Cliff, what
do you think?
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I agree? I went with those nine that you mentioned
as well. I just think that you know, the front five,
it was always set lineman play every snap. So if
you have a healthy offensive line, then do you really
need to carry ten linemen? And the Ravens just have
(13:10):
so many tough decisions to make at other positions that
they need to keep it to nine if they can.
And knock on wood right now, everyone is healthy. The
rotations I think are clear in their minds when they
have a healthy nine, and just keeping ten would hurt them,
(13:30):
force them to lose a player another player in another
position that they don't want to lose. So I think
they're just going to stick with that nine.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
What I would expect hopefully all those players that don't
make the fifty three land on the practice squad or
you know, the of the guys that I mentioned that
are kind of on the cusp, and so even if
one were to be claimed by another team, let's just say,
like you have other you have enough young talent there
that I think somebody will make it to the practice
squad that if you did have an injury and you
(13:57):
had to you felt like you want to call somebody up,
like you have enough reserves. There is kind of my point.
It's just it's tough to carry ten offensive linement. As
much as I think the Ravens have got ten guys
that are deserving, I think that it would be tough
to do so. So that's our offensive fifty three man roster.
That's twenty five players. You know, balanced rosters. Twenty five offense,
twenty five defense, three specialists. So twenty five offensive players
(14:21):
there for me and you, Cliff. Let's take a break
and when we come back, we'll give our roster predictions
on the defensive side of the ball. Thank you for

All right, Cliff, Let's flip it over to the defensive
(15:05):
side of the ball for our roster predictions, and let's
start in the defensive line here, all right, with big guys,
I'm going with five defensive linemen now, the Matabik, Travis Jearns,
Roderick Washington Junior, Anias Peebles the six round rookie, and
(15:25):
John Jenkins, the veteran news tackle. I'm going with five
d linemen there, Cliff, what are you going with?
Speaker 2 (15:31):
I'm only going with four.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Oh, we have our first difference, folks.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Right obviously, noam the Travis Jones, Broderick Washington Junior, and
Anias Peebles are my four. I do believe that both
John Jenkins and Brett Urbin may be part of the roster,
or very good chance that they will be after the
initial fifty three has decided. But I believe the Ravens
(15:58):
may take a risk only put four on the fifty
three hope that they can sign Jenkins urban maybe both
after they are you know, after the waivers and everything
else is settled, but only go with four to leave
room for another position where namely the secondary, where I
(16:20):
think they have some really tough decisions they want to
make and want to have make sure they have enough
depth there.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So the situation with a player such as John Jenkins
and Brent Urban, is there a vested veteran, they don't
have to clear through waivers, right, So for our listeners
out there, a younger player with fewer years of service,
when they're released, they have to clear waivers. When they're
on waivers, any other team around the league can claim them. Now,
(16:49):
if you claim somebody off waivers, they have to go
in your fifty three man roster. So it's not like
you can just claim somebody for your practice squad. If
a player goes unclaimed, then they are agent for you
to sign with any team. It could be another different
teams practice squad. It could be the Ravens practice squad
or whatever. Vested veterans such as John Jenkins and Brent
(17:12):
Urban don't go through waivers, so when they're released, they
can just say I want to stay in Baltimore and
I'm gonna sign to the practice squad. Now with Urban,
I think that that makes a whole lot of sense.
I agree. I think that that's what's gonna happen. He's gonna,
he's gonna there's kind of an understanding that he signs
back and goes in the practice squad and and he
(17:33):
gets elevated for it's up to three weeks of game
action and then we'll see, you know, if they whatever
happens as a spot and all the fifty three ye
opens up, he could take that spot or whatnot. Uh.
I have a little harder time seeing that with John Jenkins,
just because like Brent Urban's been here for forever, there's
an understanding, you know, like he wants to rain in Baltimore.
(17:57):
You know, I think John Jenkins wants to be in
Baltimore too. It's by sign here. But like it's a
different situation I think with John Jacobs. So that's why
I'm not as you know, for some vetterans, they're like,
I'm not agreeing to practice squad. I'm not a practice
squad player, you know what I mean? And and like
I just I don't know, I just don't I'm not
(18:19):
ruling it out. I think it's entirely possible, it could
that could happen. But I don't envision it happening.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yeah, I think the odds are in your favor here, MANK.
But I just have a I have a gut feeling
that the Ravens like some of their young town in
the secondary. They've had obviously guys who will get to
have played really well. They value corners and safeties a lot,
particularly corners, and that they feel that, you know, there
(18:49):
were some games where they're only dressed, you know, for
defensive lineman during the season. So again, if they're healthy
now at that spot, I think they pretty much know
Urban is going to be part of the team. So
worst case scenario in this, you know, they could lose
a player like Jenkins, who they signed. They obviously like
(19:12):
and certainly he's deserving of being on a fifty three.
But I feel that, you know, this is a way
that they could go to get some more young talent
in the secondary on the team.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
We do know that the Ravens they'll work every avenue
to try to keep as many talented players as possible. So, like,
you can never rule anything out, all right, So we
have our first difference. Let's go to safety. I have
five Kyle Hamilton, Malachi Stark, Sonoosa Kane. I have the
(19:43):
undrafted rookie Ruben Lowry making the team, and then I
also put on bow Braid as my fifth safety. I
have him making the team. I think Lowry a let's
just start there. I think he's made too many plays.
I just think, like this guy has just want a job.
You know, He's made plays consistently in practice, He's made
plays some preseason games flat out, the dudes won a job.
(20:07):
And and he's I think the Ravens love his versatility.
He can play safety, he can play cornerback. That's really.
He came to the Ravens as a corner and uh,
he's super smart. He's he's just I think they like
him and uh and really I think he kind of
steps into an Ardarius Washington esque role. I don't know
(20:28):
as much at Nickel as Ardarius kind of came to be,
but uh, you know, undersized player with a nose for
the football, and you know, until ard Aius comes back.
Like I'm not saying that Ruby Lowry is going to
get as many snaps as Ardarius did. Certainly not, but
he's kind of that type of player and kind of
feels that his shoes for the time being, and then
(20:50):
for me, Bo Braid, Look, I'm not just making this
pick because the guy's a turn all right. I mean,
that'll be the easy thing to do. But I have
more integrity than that journalistically. Okay, maybe I don't. I would,
I would pick him just because he's turt, but that's
not the reason that I'm doing this. I'm picking him
(21:11):
because he's a darn good player, and I think particularly
he's a guitar and good special teams player and this
this is a special team slot for me and Bo Braid.
That dude runs and hits like you. You look at
the tackle leaders after a bunch of these preseason games
that guy's played in and he's the top of the list.
The guy can hit, and that's what you want on
(21:33):
special teams. Gonna play hard. Smart dude cares a lot
about it, and he'll he can tackle. And so that's
why I keep Bo Braid on my fifty.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Three, no question. I mean, we know how much the
Ravens value special teams and Brady and he to me
secured his Rochester spot with the special teams play because
I think Shanoozy Kane did outplay him during training camp
and the preseason that Kane earned his spot more for
(22:04):
what he did in safety than Braid did. But I
definitely would still want Bray to be on the team
because of his ability on special teams and Lowry, Yeah,
you already talked about him, the playmaking ability he's shown.
I think the versatility even kind of surprised the Ravens
that he picked things up so quickly at multiple positions
(22:26):
in the secondary that made him even more valuable in
addition to the plays he was making. He can just
play so many spots and pick things up so well
that it was almost like what are we having training
camp for if a player who's going to do this
doesn't make the team. I mean, he took a spot exactly.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
I also think, you know, with Bo, it's special teams experience,
and like how good a special teams player is Ruben
Lowry right now? You know his size, like you kind
of want a bigger guy quite frankly, and like a
little bit more of a physical presence, and so like
(23:06):
when you combine kind of Ruben Lowry, I think in
terms of like defensive safety, like defensive role. Rubin got
reps in preseason games before Bo Braid, which like Bo
wasn't getting a lot of action till late in the game,
which makes you always makes reporters kind of say, like,
is this guy gonna make it? You know, Ruben Lowry
was first up before bow and but when it comes
(23:29):
to special teams experience, I think bo is probably right
now a better player special teams player than Ruben Lowry is.
And so it's kind of like two players almost filling
one role to a degree. That's how I see it,
all right, cornerback, I have Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins Jr,
(23:50):
Alexander Cheetah bay Ouzier, Jalen, Arma Davis, and TJ. Tampa.
That's six for me, Cliff. What do you got?
Speaker 2 (23:59):
Yeah? I have one additional I have the six you
who are on yours Marlon, Nate Wiggins, Jai Are Adobe,
TJ Tampa, Arma Davis, and Kean Martin another preseason training
camp star. I believe that he is going to be
(24:21):
on the fifty three.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Okay, So this is our difference. You have Martin on
Kean Martin on of pick six fame in the third
preseason game. He also got a safety in the Dallas
preseason game. So like dude, May played some preseason games,
he was he was the star of the show. In
today's game against the Commanders. You got to give him credit,
like that was the best story of the game. Also
(24:44):
had a tackle for loss in the game. I thought
he played well, played well in special teams. John Harbal
comments that after the game that, like, you know, the
he was out there as a an device going against
the gunner and just locked the dude up. And so
you're putting them on your fifty three. I have John
Jenkins on, so you're taking key on. I have John Jenkins. So, uh,
(25:09):
you just feel like you won a Spotcliffe I do.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
I know the Ravens still, you know, have a tremendous
depth in the secondary and have depth at corner. But
you know, already before week one, we've had both six
round draft picks go down for the year. Jay air
Cheeto have missed time, practice time, TJ. Tampa and Jay L.
(25:35):
Armor Davis. Even though they've looked very good and have
been healthy, which has been great, you know, they've had
to deal with injuries in the past so.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Well Armor, yeah, I mean Armor Davis has been nicked up.
He was nicked up at times during.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Training game right right, So yeah, some time.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
I mean I think, I think, yeah, to your point,
like you have four corners there in Jay you'r cheeto,
Jaylen Arbor Davis and TJ. Tample with injury histories and
so like how many games you're gonna get out of
all those guys if if some of those guys, a
couple of those guys go down, you start to get Look,
you look real thin a corner and that's not a
place you want to be. And the Ravens are a
(26:11):
team that that can never say you can never have
too many corners. And so that's that's the argument you're
going with, Cliff, which I respect, Like I could easily
talk myself in to putting Kean Martin on this team
really and and he offers more nickel, like you don't
have a true nickel corner. Marlon is gonna play a
lot of nickel, and Kyle Hamilton's gonna play nickel some
(26:37):
but outside of that, like you know, Arthur Mallett was
on this team like year plus ago in training camp
he got injured, but like he was kind of a
true nickel kel. Martin might be like the closest thing
that you have to like a true nickel kind of
because of his smaller stature. My question is, like, Bobard,
I'm sorry, Ruben Lowry. You know, I think he offers
(27:00):
versatility as a corner. So that was part of the
reason I think. I don't feel like I have to
go with seven corners like you did. I went with six.
I'm a little later there, and I think that, you know,
Keon Martin for me, like, here's a guy, is he
gonna get claimed? That That's really when you're when you're
the Ravens and you're debating these cuts, the guys who
(27:22):
are on the bubble, like you have to evaluate do
you think some other team's gonna claim him? In Keyon
Martin's like a five FOT nine Louisiana Louisiana Lafayette undrafted,
you know, I mean he wasn't part of the Ravens
initial undrafted class. He got a rookie camp invitation and
then signed so like, and the Ravens reportedly were the
only team that offered him a spot, you know, an opportunity,
(27:47):
let's say, and so like, if no team was really
interested before, now maybe they watched the preseason table they say, hey,
this guy's got some right the pick the pick was nice.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Nice, That was very nice.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
He read that thing the whole way. He was in
the slot. He came off his guy undercut that. That
was nice play. That was so like. Maybe some team
watches watches that and they're like, hey, this guy's got something.
But like, and cornerback is one of those spots where
a lot of teams probably have this same mantra. You
(28:23):
can't have too many corners, so like, But I don't know,
I just feel like if the league generally speaking has
been like, this guy's not worth even inviting to rookie
mini caamp, Like, I don't know that he did enough
to change the minds. Now, you only have to change
one team's mind. So we'll see if he is released.
(28:43):
But that's my take on it.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
No, it's an interesting debate. It's an interesting scenario. That's
what makes this an inexact science. And as you said, said,
the Ravens are mulling those types of things now as
every team is. But yeah, I mean he he is.
Kean is less under the radar now than he was
(29:05):
certainly back then when he was trying to get signed
with anybody. People know who he is now, and yes,
at that position, I think that enhances his chances of
making a team, not only because you know, again the
Ravens feel you can't have too many, but if another
team out there is looking for help there, he is
(29:26):
the type of player who might go elsewhere. So we'll
see what happens. It's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yeah. To me, I think it comes down to more
bowbraid versus Keon Martin, Like do you keep the extra
fifth safety or do you keep a seventh corner. In
my kind of calculation, I went with Bo because I
think like he offers more on special teams than Keon
Martin does. But I think that is a conversation that
(29:52):
the Ravens will probably be having. All right, outside linebacker,
I think we're in agreement here. Adafeoway, Calvin Tavis Robinson,
Mike Green, and David Ajabo a desa Isaac suffered the
disslocated elbow. He's going to be out for half the year,
if not more. He's going to land on ir and
(30:12):
uh I have five outside linebackers. I think you're in
agreement with that, all right. Mike Green, just the guy
continues to look great. I think he's I think really here,
it's a question of snap count, you know, and how
do you get Mike Green on the field. That's like
the biggest question mark to me at outside linebacker, Like, yeah,
(30:33):
what exactly what role does Mike Green play? I think
it'll be interesting to see David Ajabo. I think he's improved,
like David Jabo, better player. Thought he he flashed a
little bit here in the third preseason game, And I
think Isaac's injury kind of locked up his roster spot,
though he could have very well made the team had
it not been for that. Also, all right, inside linebacker,
(30:53):
this is another interesting debate. We both have four here,
Roquans Trenton Simpson, Jake Hummel, and the rookie Teddy Buchanan.
Neither of us are putting our guy, Jay Higgins the
fourth on the roster unfortunately, even though he's been, you know,
(31:15):
kind of Kean Martin been the preseason playmaker. But I
just I didn't put him on. Why Cliff, why did
you not?
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Well? I think an insign linebacker, it's it would be
tough to keep five. I think they're definitely Teddy, you know,
obviously being a rookie. They like his upside. Trenton I
think has played very well. You know, he was never
in danger not making the team. But you know, Jake
Hommel special teams specialists. You know, based on his career
(31:47):
that he can handle special teams very well, and he
was brought in there for that. So to me, he
was almost a lock to make it. And I just think,
you know, it's a numbers game. Unfortunately for Jay, he
made plays, he definitely might surprise us and be on
the rotter. That wouldn't like shock me if he made it.
But they have, you know, plenty of players who are
(32:10):
deserving of making it who aren't going to do so.
And I just think that he didn't do quite enough
to show that he should be ahead of those four
or that the Ravens should keep five to keep him.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
I think it comes down to, you know, he's flashed
as a defensive player. I think like if the Ravens
had an injury and they suddenly needed some guy that
was going to come in and play defensive snaps, he
would have a better shot for sure, you know what
I mean. Like Zach Orr raved about him in this
week in the press conference that there's no reason why
this guy can't have a long NFL career, And I
(32:47):
think that could be true. It's just like the Ravens,
you know. I think Teddy Buchanan's looked good too. I
don't know that they need another inside linebacker right now
who would would be active on game day and see snaps.
And I don't know that he's done enough special teams wise,
you know, to kind of beat out other guys on
(33:07):
special teams and claim a spot there. So you know, generally,
like when we've seen these inside linebackers who have made
it as undrafted guys, these are big, faster guys who
can run down the field on special team. We're talking
six to two, six'. Three you, know these are like bigger.
Guys that's not you Know Jay. Higgins Jay higgins is
(33:29):
like a guy who's six foot played linebacker all his,
life great, instincts and we've seen, it like he's he's
around the, ball makes a lot of, tackles like we've seen.
That but he like isn't kind of in the mold
of that undrafted linebacker that they've necessarily kept and like
has gotten that special team's, role you know WHAT i?
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Mean, YEAH i MEAN i agree with. You, now he
did play special. TEAMS i went for three years and
he does know that his path to this roster would
be on special, teams so he has focused on it
during training. Camp, Now i'm not going to sit here
and tell YOU i can evaluate how well he did
(34:12):
as a special, teamer but at least he was very aware, that, like,
HEY i can't just make plays on defense IF i
don't do it on special, Teams i'm making This i'm
not making this. Team so we'll see and if he,
doesn't then, Yeah i'll let you know that he didn't
do quite enough on special teams to make.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
IT i also think that inside linebackers are not necessarily
like the ones that usually fly off the waiver, wires
you know WHAT i, Mean like waiver wire players that
there seems to be a shortage of death at or
the team's value taking extra guys would be corner and
(34:50):
offensive linemen would be the two THAT i kind of
put at the top of the. List and SO i
don't know the inside linebackers are necessarily, gonna you, know
you have as much concern of a team plucking. Them
SO i would hope fingers crossed At Jay higgins lands
on The ravens practice. Squad, then just to around this,
Out the three specialists are Obvious Tyler, Loop Jordan, stout
(35:13):
And Nick. Moore Tyler loup hit a sixty one. Yarder
all hit connected on all three of his field goal
attempts in the preseason finale against The, commanders so continues
to look very good kicking them. Ball so one of
the biggest storylines coming into training camp about whether he
was gonna win the job and how good he would.
Be put that to. Rest HE'S i think he's gonna
(35:33):
be pretty darn good and he definitely won the.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Job great to see an important spot he'll. Be he'll
be kicking some big spots obviously this, year but he
looks ready to handle.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
It, yep. Yep so those are our fifty three man roster.
Predictions we both know That garrett is at home and botch,
this but he's gonna claim here's the. Thing he's not
on the record, now so you Know garrett's gonna, say
you went fifty three for fifty. Three we just chalk it. Up,
Okay so if you're, Listening, garrett don't even try. It
(36:04):
don't even try. It when you get back into the
office after your.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Pros we're not we're not we're not, yeah we're not buying.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
It i'm gonna need to see that time. Stamped his
baby boy is gonna have to to basically verify that for.
Me i'm gonna, Yeah i'm gonna need uh, Yeah i'm
gonna need that double checked a. Notary that's Where i'm
