Speaker 1 (00:00):
Upon for the review.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hello everyone, Hello, how are you guys doing? Even more?
All day weekend? Everyone blessed? Great? Any like fun stories?
Anyone have like a like something really cool to share? Nah,
I don't. That's why I'm kind of leaning on you guys.
Me come on, god, you guys. We don't talk about
you guys know, so what exciting things have happened in

(00:33):
your life. I've been super excited for for these, for
training camp or oka. Excuse me, this was like, you know,
I think it's like beginning of Phase three is always
a really fun thing. Like you know, you kind of
get uh, you know, you come back. It's cool. Phase one,
the rookies come in, you get drafted. It's it's you know,

(00:53):
it's like, you know, it's filling out process and you
see it on air. I think the first day of
Phase three it's kind of like, you know, it's like
that mini Christmas before training camp. You know, you're actually
playing football again. It's full speed. It's always fun watching
watching the rookies and the young guys just kind of
you start to see it, you know, they see it
for the first time. You see them adapt, you see
them uh, you know, just just coming to simulate with

(01:14):
a team. So I think for all of us, you know,
it's a long offseason and you know you miss the game,
so it's always fun coming back to full speeds. Up
of those young guys.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
We saw Mitchell Elevan's make a pretty cool catch to
and the practice team Mac obviously caught a bunch of passes.
What have you noticed about this rookie group of pass catchers.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, it's a it's a really dynamic group, you know,
them coming in and bringing great energy on great depth. Again,
this is kind of the first day where you get
to see it live and you know, see it in
uh in in eleven on eleven and seven on seven,
but even on on air you could tell and all
guys are really uh they want to work, they want

(01:54):
to do better. They've asked me a ton of questions.
Ask the guys in their room, a ton of questions.
Obviously the rookies have have those rookie you mean to
stay a little longer. And everyone's been been telling me
how how attentive people have been, how locking everyone's been.
So you know it's great for us again just getting
new energy, new guys that can come contribute to the team.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Right, Canal. Let's talk about building the offense year after year.
How much of new stuff is then now that you
weren't working on this time last year.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, I think it's I think it's just being able
to build off of off of the foundation we laid
last year around this time last year, Obviously it's a
new system, new offense. So we're getting the basics, we're
we're we're ironing out the first you know, the the
day one first stuff and just the basics of the offense.
And now year two we get to start so much

(02:41):
further ahead. A lot of returning guys, a lot of
familiar faces, and also that that's a lot of kudos
to their guys coming in the you know, the the
free agents, the rookies that are coming in and for
us and a lot of guys, that's you know, let's
let's let's start a master's level. Let's make sure that
we're more advancing for them. You know, this is their
first time the system, and you wouldn't be able to
tell by a lot of the guys, so that that

(03:01):
speaks of their testament. They're hard working. It's excited to
see us kind of start start a lot more ahead
this year.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Are there particular things you're excited to add to this
thing based.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
On last year? Yeah, I think that. I think that
within the system, there's so many wrinkles and so many
little things that you know, build off of each other
that the coaching staff has done a great job and
it's had a lot of success in throughout the years.
And you know, obviously in Seattle they had a ton
of time together and you could kind of see a
lot of stuff form year two, year three or four,
all those all those that time, and there's a lot

(03:30):
of stuff that you know, we were able to talk
about and mentioned last year that you know was all right,
I don't know for there. I don't know for there,
And you know, for us, that's it's exciting for us
to be able to now kind of have a chance
opportunity to grow towards that, uh, to to start a
lot further so that we can reach all those little wrinkles.
So there's definitely a lot of stuff that works out
of about team.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Mack shared with us draft night that you had lobbied
on his beaf with Dave and Dan. What did you
see in that kind of that workout you had with
him over the off season that made you kind of
want to stand on the table.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, well I've I've seen him. I've played against him
in high school. I've seen him and followed his career
ever since since high school. So I've always from whether
it's playing against him or from Afar, I was always
someone that had a ton of respect for I loved
his game. I've been around him before that too, her
great things, loved his work ethic, have had seen him live,

(04:26):
so just again, I had a ton of exposures, so
I was always kind of following, always kind of looking,
and you know, obviously just us having that opportunity was
I'm super grateful. Obviously I trusted coach kanal Is and
Dan with the decision. They were gonna do what was
best for the team, and you know, they they obviously
felt that was what was best. And you know, obviously

(04:47):
for me, it's it's it was music for my ears.
But again, that's something that I'm super excited about and
now working with him and being with him day to
day again, just wants to get all the things right.
Asked a ton of questions. It's coming back communicating after
not only missed throws, but after after completions after stuff
on air, they were getting right, all right? Was this?

(05:07):
You know? Is this that I see myself doing that
over and over? How is this? Was that what we're thinking?
So just that level of communication, that's something that especially
for a young guy, it's such a such a pro
thing to do. So I'm super excited to do.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
That to lobby for a guy, how much is beyond
the on the field stuff And it's like, no, we
sort of sort of got along really well, just a
personal club.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, I just want to share my experiences. You know,
I'm grateful for you know, for for Dan and coach
Canows wanted to wanted to hear that. I wanted to
hear me out and hear what I have to say.
And again they they want to hear and get intel
on all the guys that they can have. And again
I've been around them before, you know, I'd seen them,
so I might just had some experiences to share. So
I just want to do everything I can to communicate that.

(05:50):
And again they're the guys who make the decision. But
we're we're super happy that that he's here lobbying. Is
what would you you know, what would you have come
and said to y. Yeah, no, again, they're they they
wanna do everything. You know, they they asked me about
a ton of guys, anyone that I had, anyone that
you know, I had had played with. You know, they

(06:10):
guys that they looked at and they wor scouted obviously,
you know if they were obviously on their board, and
they're interested regardless of of what I had to say.
But they knew the the history and the background, so
you know, they they wanted to hear me out. They
want to hear what I had to say. And you know,
we we talked about a lot of guys. But yeah,
we're I'm I'm I'm I'm super grateful with where we're at.
I know it's early on book, that sort of congatuation

(06:30):
that you've seen from themselves since last year. Yeah, I
think you just see the comfortability that year one, a
year two again, second year in the system, understanding how
the league is. You know, him being able to you know,
to be healthy, to have a off season to you know,
to get through all the stuff to to come back healthy,
and he put a lot of work in to do
that in the off season that obviously no one sees.

(06:51):
But if you're around here and you're around him. You
know that the work you put in, so just seeing
the the experience kind of comes to play and and
it definitely shows in the confidence in the production in practice,
taking a lot more of a leadership role too. In
the in the wide receiver room again, a lot of
young guys that are trying to come in and learn
the system. And now year two he's doing a lot
of directing out there. You know, we have a you know,
different formations or different routes. You hear them out there communicating, Hey,

(07:14):
I'm on, I got this, Hey I'm off, you're off,
You're here, So you know, you just see him taking it,
jumping into that role. You know. It's uh, it's great
to see.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
This level when you can you see when like maybe
some of the rookies are a little bit thinking too much,
and can you see a guy like Xavier and and
you kind of notice that he has it and he's
a little bit he's not thinking, he's just reacting. Like
is that something that you're able to sort of ascertain
and sort of know where everybody's at.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yeah, for sure. I think it's again it's part of
the process. You know, everyone's like, you know, everyone's first
day today really for for the you know, you're gonna
see a little bit of you know, it's human nature.
You know, it's a new environment. You figure stuff out,
and then it's not just a receiver thing. I think
it's everyone. You know, the more experience and the more
reps you can get in a system through practice and
training can and for sure, but especially game reps, you're

(08:02):
gonna feel more comfortable. It's you know, it's just human nature.
When you're competing at the highest level. You know, you
when you're where you're thinking about, you know, what are
my what's my assignment, what's my alignment on both sides
of the ball. You know, those little things can add up.
And the more reps you have, the more comfortable you
see someone be able to to work on and focus
on the details them to be able to play fast.

(08:22):
And X has done a great job and that doesn't
just come naturally too. He's done a great job of
obviously he had the reps, but he put the work in.
He made sure he made those reps count. So I'm
super excited for his growth.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
You spoke about this just from a collective standpoint on offense,
but from an individual standpoint to enter an off season
for the first time in the league being able to
run the same system you did the year before. What
has that done for you as you messure this program.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, it's been it's been great. It's been great again
just being able to start at a higher level. Now
I'm in the off season, being able to focus on
growth rather than than learning, you know, focus on knowing
what's expected, knowing exactly the things that you know you've
done well and you have to continue to do well,
things to improve on. You know, you you look at
all those things and you know you kind of just

(09:04):
have that that goal and that goal post drought the
offseason and you have things that you could target to
work on. You have the conversations with the coaches, and
you know, you just you know what to expect and
because of that, you have such a more clear direction.
You know, when you're have a new system, you know,
it's kind of a you just want to overall get better.
You don't know, because you know you're not one hundred
percent year of the experience you're gonna go and you

(09:24):
don't know exactly how it plays out. But having this opportunity,
it's it's been great.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Dave said something to the effect of wants the offense
to kind of look like Bryce Young. You feel you're
getting some ownership and what you guys want to do
and how it suits you in the offense.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, for sure, And I really appreciate the coaching staff
for that. Again that that that comes with with trust,
and again just us being able to have more experience
and time together, us having more banked reps as I've
felt more and more comfortable throughout last year and then
now going into year two in the system, and then
us uh, you know, continue to build our relationship and
and and grow and have more, uh, you know, more

(09:59):
of those shared thoughts within the entire offensive staff. You know.
It's it's definitely something that that I'm grateful for, and
you know, for us and for me, I want to
you know, we all have that same goal. You know.
For us, we just want to win offensively, want to
score points, you know, and then as a team, we
want to do whatever it takes to win. And we
all know that that's our our our goal, no matter
what it looks like. And because of that, it makes
it easy for us to work together.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
What's the level of confidence you feel from coach Canalis.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
And you now compare to you know two three last year. Yeah,
I mean again, you just have so much more time
and so much more banked reps. You know, the the
the more time you have to grow, you get to
be in the room, you get to hear and learn
and see their perspective. You know, you try to bank
those reps throughout training camp and OTAs, but especially throughout
a whole season. The more growth you have, you know,

(10:45):
it's always better. So I'm super grateful for that. Where
were he's gonna.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Be out for a little bit after having surgery. How
much of an addition to the offense did keep it
come over the second half of last year for it?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yeah? He he was huge. He's gonna continue to be huge.
You know. Tommy is super hard worker, you know, someone
who brings so much intensity and Ferossi to the to
the to the position, to the team, to us as
a as a group, as a unit. So yeah, I
know we're expecting him to be back. He's gonna be
a huge part of the offense moving forward too. Did
you happen to.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Catch any Xavier's Kentucky Derby contest?

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah, he told me about it. He told me about
it before before he went. He was super excited too.
I know, you know, he has horses and all that stuff,
and he has a resource, so I know he was
excited to do it. But it was it was cool
to see him, Uh just see him happy out there
in his in his element and in somewhere different. So yeah,
it was fun.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Dave actually talked about San Xavier smiling more of his spring,
like did did do you think that? You know, he
got to a point last year whereas now he's tattling injuries.
He had a couple of drops like was he at
a point where he's kind of getting in a bad
place that way?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah, I wouldn't say that at all. Again, a kid
who works super hard and super mentally tough, you know,
especially rookie year, him coming in the first round pick,
it's it, you know, it's a lot. He obviously got
thrown in the fire as a team. Obviously, there are
a lot of ups and downs, and for him to
be able to no matter what, uh there, whatever the
outside noise was, no matter what happened on Sunday, for

(12:17):
him to work the way he did, come in day
in and day out. And also you know, Obviously, you
guys only get to see the the Sunday and maybe
a couple of practice, but throughout the locker room. Uh
he always had a great, great attitude and great energy
still does you know. He he's someone who really just
brings up the room. So again for him, and we
have all the conference in the world of him. He
he means a lot to us as a unit. And

(12:38):
I'm excited to watch him keep going.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
I know you've only faced the defense ones, but you know,
how does Trevor wall Treuvor Wallace look coming off iner?

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, yeah, he looks good. You know again, it it's
great for him to be back, to be out there,
watch him moving around and and you know, the entire defense.
You know, there's it's a lot of new faces. But
you know, for day one especially, it was a lot
a great communication going out on out there. You know,
we we had some formation stuff, we have some motion stuff,
and you know, especially day one, a lot of new

(13:07):
new people. Sometimes it's hard you see a lot of
uh Emmys, but uh, I I didn't I I I
didn't see really any out there. They had a great
job of communicating. They make some players out there, they're
flying around they have a lot of confidence. So you know,
during this the Phase three mini camp, uh, you know,
training camp, it's you know, you're it's like you're you know,
you guys are at war. You're trying to go up
against each other. It's offense first defense. But at the

(13:28):
end of the day, as so long as we're pushing
each other, the Panthers are winning. So yeah, I'm I'm
I'm super confident in.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Them specific to this off match and of you that that.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
You didn't have much, I mean, I think it's just uh,
I you know, it's it's I I think everyone in
every new face brings something. You know, obviously there's you know,
there's I I trust in the coaching staff in the
way that we're gonna use him along with use all
the rookies and and all the new new additions. And
I think that's a great part of what this off
season is for. You know, again, this was day one

(13:59):
of FAI three. Day one a competition, so you know,
we want to get all the young guys, all the
new guys doing everything. We want them running every route,
we want them at every position, just to see where
people strengths are. And I think that's a great thing
about the staff. They do a great deub evaluating and
putting people in positions to help the team. So you know,
I think right now is the time we're figuring out
what's everyone's role, and you know, everyone has a great

(14:20):
work ethic, great attitude about it, So I'm excited to
see how everyone goes. Guys have a.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Crazy catch radius as that seems to be one of
your strengths, to just kind of putting the ball where
the defense can't get it but offense can. Is that
something you.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Know just your time, Yeah, yeah, for sure, that's something
that definitely has has jumped out on film through all
the draft stuff and you know in versus air and
even today you could definitely see that super smooth has
has super natural hands. Like you said, great catch radius,
super friendly to the quarterback, which is always nice. So
again we're we're with all the young guys, everyone who's new.

(14:56):
You know, we want to put them in as many
situations and many positions possible see where the one strengths are.
So I'm super excited just to see where where it goes.
