Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hope Plum for the review.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Out the year, you guys have had some pretty big
highs and some low lows. Why do you think if
you guys have struggled to kind of maintain the momentum
in the passing game from week to week.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yeah, it just boils down to execution. Obviously, it goes
week to week. You know, you've got to be able
to turn the page whether it be good or bad.
And we have all the guys in there with the
right mindset. It's just execution, you know. I think, uh, first,
just growing that identity, you know, all of us, especially
as a you know, as a younger unit. But now

(00:36):
you know everyone's you know, everyone's pros, everyone's embraced it.
There there's no excuse, you know for us not to
be consistent. So that's a challenge for us. You know,
at the end of the day, we want to do
whatever it takes to win. Obviously, past game helps out,
the run game, helps out, the explosives, helps out the team.
So you know, we were working to be more consistent there.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I know a lot is made of like the multiple
different iterations of the offensive line, but they're pretty they're
blocking pretty well for sure. Do you feel like there
is a strength in being able to not only have
that depth, but also most of those guys are familiar
with You've played with them for multiple years. Like, is
that helping with your mobility and your anticipation?

Speaker 4 (01:14):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
It's a huge luxury having the line that we've had,
like you said, with so many different lineups, everyone's kind
of came in and not not miss.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
It be you know.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
That speaks to the culture of the room, to the coaches,
to everyone. Uh And for me, it gives me a
ton of comfortability, you know, I'm I'm super grateful for
the unit we have.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Do you a lot of rollouts called to you and
and there are the plus smilasis on that.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Do you feel like that allows you to.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
Get comfortable in the passing game or do you feel
more comfortable if you were just been shot DOWNUE and
were able to have done it from there?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
No, I feel comfortable with whatever coach calls, you know, obviously,
I trust him to be balanced, to call the game
how he sees fit. You know, whatever it is week
to week that he feels like is necessary taw me
to execute. I feel comfortable doing it. And Uh, yeah,
they're there's no excuses there. You know, for me, no
matter what it is, I probably myself being able to
execute that we do as offense.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
So that's always a mindset.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
And Rico uh put an og ol clues day with
the kind of confused little okay you only had six carries?

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Have you?

Speaker 5 (02:15):
And he talked about that and how did that just
kind of how did that go?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
What you did?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Uh yeah, not not about that specifically, but you know,
we goos. A competitor obviously wants to win. We always
want to win. Didn't get that done, so.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
You know, uh, you know we we we.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
All have competitive spirit, we all have that stuff. We
we we talked about the game and the game plan,
this stuff that's that's in house what we do under
this you know, under this building. So you know that'll
be the focus.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
When you're looking at your evaluate, gendulating your own play.
As you go through and you watch the story, are
you seeing opportunities where maybe you should run well or
want or email or whatever.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
You think, I'm just taking things, uh, you know, play
by play, you know, we talk about getting through progressions.
When one's open throwing a number one obviously, coaches put
plays in with a one to two or three or four.
My jobviously get through all that when I can, you know,
and when there's times to run, when the play breaks down,
when we're above the time clocked, and that's what it is.
But you know, again, every game is different, every play

(03:16):
is different, regardless of running and passing. You know, you
can't predetermine either one. You have to make whatever is
the right decision for the team. So the goal is
to be as efficient and doing that as possible.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
When you do film study after the games, are you
ever really surprised by what you see or are you
able to go from play to play and kind of
analyze each play after like on the sideline or is
it once you look at the film and totality does
do you ever come away with anything different than what
you might have seen, you know, drive to drive.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah, of course, whenever you're able to watch the you know,
after the game, you're able to watch the full you know,
the full picture. Obviously you can't see everything on the field,
and then you know, you know, you know, you don't
see what happened on the backside when the walls already
let go. Things like that, that information you take in
there on the sideline. You know, you get the pictures,
so obviously you don't get the full after whatever it

(04:06):
cuts off in. So you know, there's always takeaways you
get to learn from mart of the film after all.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
Right, you guys have been in several situations this year
where you've bounced back with big performances after tough games.
Is it just human nature to be a little more focused,
a little sharper in those situations.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I wouldn't say so.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
You know, again, we pride ourselves and not not looking
at the week before and turning the page and focusing
week to week. You know, we don't look at it
as advantages and disadvantage anything like that. You know, we're
oh no, that's how we look at it as we
have a great opportunity against a really good team.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
We have a ton of respect for this week.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
So right now we're just doing everything you can during
the week to you know, give ourselves the best chance
to be successful.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
What has made the Rams self successful?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Obviously watching the defensive side, studying that, you know, it's
a it's a lot of things. How hard they play,
how physical they are up front. It's a uh, it's
a really good group, you know, they they they play
with a lot of physicality, you know, high motors, guys
that you could tell understand the system, have a lot
of dog up front. So with with stopping the run,

(05:09):
getting after the past or they do a really good
job you know, at the second level they communicate really well,
a great great job orchestrating things, uh with play recognition,
running pass uh. And then you know, a really good
group in the back end as well, great job pattern uh,
pattern matching, very very smart guys back there. You know,
they go and get after the ball and then do

(05:30):
a great job mixing and coverages, mixing and blitz is
given us having scheme that you know, obviously on the
from the protection side of run sign we have to
spend time scheming up and having looked for so uh,
you know, it's a it's a myriad of things. Again,
it's a it's a really good group, really good unit
for us. It's a great opportunity to go up against
a great unit. You know, work on our execution. So uh,

(05:51):
work started for the opportunity.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
I'm just curious if you had to quantify, like how
much take do you watch in the week.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Uh, I don't know about but uh, just stay after
forever long. It's again, I don't I don't go for
a time. I have like a set routine of the
things that I want to get watched. A couple of
games a day with the cutups, stay ahead of what
day it is, you know, watching games through different lenses,
and then a couple of other miscellaneous cutups that I

(06:19):
just watch at different times as a routine. So again, honestly,
to be honest, it depends on how focused I am.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
I take a lot. It gets obviously throughout the year.
It's a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
So I'm always listening to something. If I feel like
I want to break, I take that. So it's more
just have a set amount of things I need to
watch versus how long it takes.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
How do you then decompress during the week, Like, what's
something like I know you play video games, you watch basketball,
but like is there something that you specifically do to
like have like a happy place sort of during the week.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yeah, I really just I just leave everything here. I'll
stay I watch film and do all that stuff here
forever long I need to, and then like the moment
I'm done with that last thing for the day, when
I leave, I'm not well, I'm not thinking about the
game plan. I'll think about football. You know, you have
your little exceptions every once in a while. But I
just when I'm here, I'm the cue. I'm doing whatever

(07:14):
it takes for a team. And then when I leave
night to night, then I'm just you know, myself away
from football.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Wednesday was his day.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Come in and go, grab some type food, come in
and here, eat the same thing every week And to
hear like eleven o'clock at night, have you got like
a routine like that? And how what's the latest you
stay here?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Yeah, I have a routine, you know, for every day.
I couldn't tell you the latest I've stayed. But again, honestly,
it's it all boils down to how how focused I
am as far as getting things done without a without
a break. If I some days I just don't take
a break and watch everything I need to watch. Some
days I'll push it back and I'll uh, I'll procrastinate,

(07:53):
or if I have something to do in the training room,
I'll do that first.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
So again it's it's the same amount of stuff. Then
watch the time varies.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
Just as I say, that's past rush pet you faced
this year and never liked.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
It's it's hard to compare, but again, just from this week, Yeah,
it's a it's a great unit.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Individually.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
They do a great job creating one on ones, winning
those one on ones, made a great job scheme wise.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
You know, it's it's rare in this league.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
I don't want to stay rare, but it's always, uh,
you know, it's always give a lot of credit when
you see people are able to you know, create pressures
and sacks off both scheme and one on one wins
and they're able to do that. They've been able to
do that all year. So again, we have a ton
of respect for this unit. It'll be a great chance for.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
Us on something you mentioned before about leaving it all here,
When did you grow to appreciate the value of being
able to have that cut off one for yourself.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, that's something that I started in college and it
was just something that was really helpful for me. I've
I've really appreciated since then. It kind of allows me
to just again be my all here. I'm kind of
have that line in the sand and then decompress, make
sure that, you know, try not to let it overflow,

(09:05):
give myself time to be human, know what to expect
from a day to day basis, So yeah, it's been
been helpful.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
And if you look at like Stafford, he's he's seven
the crowd the season, He's yeah, twenty seven straight touchdown
past as Mike was saying an interception berty touchdowns on
the year. I'm curious during the year, do you ever
have a chance to look at what other quarterbacks are doing.
I know you've got all your preparation you have to do,
so probably, yeah, but do you have any chance to

(09:31):
look at what of the quarterbacks are doing or as
that mostly say for after the season.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Yeah, it depends on So I've watched a lot of
Stafford just because we played the you know, we played
the NFC West, so I've a lot of similar opponents.
And yeah, I mean he's been he's been balling and
not like that's new.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
You know, he's i mean.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
An amazing quarterback for the duration of his career, he's
been you know, he's been elite for a really really
long time. So yeah, I've been able to watch a
ton of games because of that. Have a ton of
respect for for him, for the way he plays, for
everything about him.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
So yeah, I have a ton of respect for him.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I understand that, understanding how prolific that offense has been
this season and the defense is missing some pieces potentially.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
On Sunday, how much.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Maybe pressure is in the right word, but but urgency
is there to make sure that you're controlling the ball
and moving the ball and score.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
I mean obviously that that's the goal every possession.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Yeah, no, it's no out of pressure. You know, when
we we we have faith in our defense. We we
trust in them, we believe in them. Obviously respect them
as offenses the defense of the team. But you know,
I always always trust my guys, and then you know,
I trust on coach for that. You know, we don't
go in uh saying hey, this is going to be
a slow game, or this is going to be uh
you know, we're gonna run as many plays as possible.

(10:45):
That that's not how it is. You know, we put
in plays obviously, we trust on We trust coach to
kind of you know, read the game, read how he
feels like it should go. He has a great discernment
when it comes to that stuff. So you know, for
whatever game it it ends up being, you know, we're
we're prepared for whatever it is. We're always going to
be have an attacking mindset, attacking mentality on offense. That's,

(11:05):
you know, one of our pillars. And then you know,
obviously for for me, for us as offense, when coach
has certain calls in situational stuff, we know what it means. So, uh,
whatever it is, we're gonna trust coach with that.

Speaker 6 (11:17):
Your memories of that the Rams coming back to LA's
when you were in high school?

Speaker 4 (11:22):
Yeah, yeah, I was younger. Yeah I remember it.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, high school probably is about about about the time.
Uh yeah, yeah, it was a while without a team
in l A.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
I CA all y'all, lot of question on Stafford. I mean,
he went through a lot of hard times during his career.
We'll played for a team that was a complete and
he really did get a show all he could do
when they got to the Rams. What do you take
from that and watched that experience he's been through.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Uh, not really something that I've personally, uh thought about
a lot. Just again, I'm not a big comparer of others.
I just try to run my own race. Again, big uh,
you know, big fan of Stafford and everything he's been
throughout his entire career.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
A ton of respect for him.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Again, not just from this season, but uh since I've
gotten to the league, you know, I've been able to
watch a lot of a lot of film his and
again have a ton of respect for him. Uh Me personally,
I'm just kind of a run my own race type
of person.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
I appreciate you guys,
