Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hope.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I'm for the review.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
You know, possibly can get Cuba back. I mean that's
a I guess a great problem problem to have is
having both those guys in the line of.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Options back there, right, Yeah, yeah, definitely, I mean, not
a problem. Again, it's having guys, having the backfield that
we have, you know, that's that's a luxury. You know,
I'm excited. You know obviously how however that plays out,
but uh yeah, we have a great group back there,
so it's it's a luxury.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Have you talked to Cuba. I mean, I guess that's
kind of a different situation. He's always it's kind of
earned that role, been the guy, and now he may
may not be the main guy, but still helping out.
Have you talked to him?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Not about that. She was just excited to be back.
We're all excited for him to be back. You know,
she's an ultimate competitor. They all are in that room.
I know they you know, him, Rico TV, everyone, They
just want to do whatever it takes to win. So
I'm excited for what ever it ends up being.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Ris What have you seen from this Jets defense?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, really good group, really talented players. You know, there's
they've they've been a good group collectively. You know, they've
they've played good football. They put put stuff together, they
have a good scheme. You know, they've up front, it's
a it's a group that plays with a lot of
with with a lot of aggression there. They're Frocis group
up front. They do a really good job and they
(01:24):
running past game second level. They do a good job
playing off of them in the back end. It's a
really good group. They're talented. They do a good job
in coverage, good job uh sticky and man, they do
a good job in end zone, playing with awareness, understanding
what you know, the understanding leverage. So we're excited for
the challenge again, we know it's really good group. We
have to do everything we can during the week to
(01:45):
give our ourselves the best chance to be successful on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
But we're exorrited for the challenge.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Some of the keys for you'll offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Patting into this game, Yeah, just execution. We want to
make sure that we can be efficient with our stuff.
We want to make sure we're fishing with our operation.
We want to make sure that we can uh yeah,
we can.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
We can.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
We can stick to our plan and make sure you know,
we know, as any game, there's gonna be adjustments and
game you know, we we know that there's gonna be
stuff for us to you know that that it's gonna
be gonna be different, it's gonna be the same. Whatever
it is, we have to make sure that we execute.
So this week, just making sure we focus on that.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Challenge that your what are.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
The challenges that you feel this team has struggled with
on the road and how can you guys kind of
get over that hump on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, we we just we just want to make sure
that again we're regardless of obviously being the bank is great,
you get that advantage, but we're on the road. It's
it's the same field dimensions, it's the same game. Uh,
just just making sure we're consistent again. I think operation
is one of the things that we've talked about, making
sure that we're as efficient and huddle efficient with with
getting plays, uh snaps, all that stuff, just so we
(02:52):
can we can have that that that operation that breeds conference,
that breeds efficiency. So I think that's one of the
one of the vocal points of what we've been we've
been emphasizing. And then yeah, it's just just making sure
we're together in those scenarios, and I'm grateful because we
naturally do that as a group. You know, we play
for each other, We bring our own juice and making
sure that that continues.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
And you're getting Jaalen possibly back this week. What what
kind of a boost would he bring to you guys?
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, having that possibility up is huge. You know, Jalen
has been huge ever since he got here. Great player,
of course, but but on the outside of just that
great for the locker room, I work super hard. So
it's again, I know there's the medical side of it.
However it plays out, we're excited for for that time
and hearing.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
I think most.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
People when they hear slot receiver, they think of smaller
guys like Adam Mike Connor, people of that size.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
When you can put a Jalen Cocher in that position,
what does.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
It do when you've got two other guys of size
with team match and EXL.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah, it causes for a lot of problems.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It certainly makes my job easier just with the stuff
that uh that Jalen brings all of our s to
a great job with that too, all the people are
our entire group.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
It just it's different stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
You know, you're able to have different things, You're able
to present different stuff to a defense to account for.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
So again, having.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
As as much depth in the receiver room and especially
the different body types and different play styles that we have,
I think that's a that's a huge luxury.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Realized last year.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
The Jalen, this guy who was capable of playing in
a lot of different spots.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Really early on, actually you know, training camp, coming in
undrafted OTA training camp, you know, it's you don't really
get that luxury of hey, I just play this position.
You know, you don't get to just sit in and
be like I'm only going to be x or Z.
So he had to go and and just play wherever
he could. You know, he was able to get reps
at all spots he was, especially you know, the competitor
he is, he just wants to get on the field
(04:43):
however he could, especially back then so early on we
kind of were like, yeah, we you know he I
don't I think he started outside like yeah he's outside guy,
and then had to fill in it inside like oh wow,
he can do that too. Play single side, played to
the play x pla Z and because of how.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
He came into circumstances.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I think early on we were like, wow, this could
be you know, he he brings that utility, which is,
you know, one of the uh, you know, one of
the many things he brings to the team.
Speaker 6 (05:09):
A few players who have specifically mentioned a culture shift
amongst the franchise in the locker room.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Would you agree with that that there has been a
culture shift?
Speaker 6 (05:18):
And if so, what does that look like? How would
you how would you put that in terms that candable terms.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, I feel like we're definitely continuing to build and
grow in the right direction. I think really one of
the biggest things that's that we've noticed is just ownership.
The coach has done a great job of laying foundation
for us, and they'll be the first to tell you
they emphasize it. Make sure we take ownership and in
the cultures and the plays and in our routines and
whatever it is. And I think everyone's gotten a lot
(05:45):
more comfortable embracing that, embracing the culture and embracing the
ownership and all the little things. And I think us
being able to come into our own has been you know,
it's been great. I've been it's been great to be
a part of. It's been great to be a leader
through it. So you know, there's still work to do,
still so much for us to build off of. We
we know there's still so much for us to grow in,
and you know, we're just taking a week by week.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
But I'm super grateful to be a part of it.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
Dave talks about when when you guys are executing and efficient,
just the call sheet opens up and you be able
to call anything you wants and do anything he wants,
and how different that is than when you're trying to chase.
I'm just wondering from your perspective, like the last two games,
how how different has it been when you guys are
sort of in control and able to do.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
What you want to do.
Speaker 6 (06:28):
How how does it open.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Things up for you?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Yeah, you know, like you said, we want to make
sure that as a play call, you know, and as
an offense, you know, we can be multi dimensional. We
can have the threat to run past, and you know,
obviously the game dictates that stuff. So we always want
to stay ahead of the sticks. So I always want
to be ahead, and you know that's that's definitely something
we strive for. Also, we understand you know, to competitively.
You know, you're gonna be able to have times where uh,
(06:51):
stuff comes off the call sheet exactly as you plan
and sometimes where you know you have to have to
have to change and shift and uh. The great thing
about this group is regardless of this circumstances, we're always
going to fight.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
We always believe, we always uh you.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Know, know what we're capable of. So you know, we
obviously have that plan. We want to stick to it,
and then regards to what happens on a week to
week basis, we're going to continue to to fight and
play for each other.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
How does winning change the dynamic.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Of the locker room? I think it it. You know,
it breeds confidence and belief.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
But as far as uh uh a work ethic standpoint,
it doesn't change at all. You know, for us, we
have to chase you know, we have to we're oh
and oh uh this week, you know, this is the
most important game of the season because it's the next
one we have. Coach says that all the time, and
it's all the matters. So we have to make sure
that regardless of anything that's going on. You know, you're
this it's a week to weekly You're only as good
(07:40):
as this this upcoming week. So we're making sure that
we stick to the process. You know, have the same intensity,
same hunger regardless of what happens, and you know that
that permeates about the locker room. It's not just me talking.
Everyone believes that, everyone bodies that, and it's it's I'm
grateful to be a part of a team like that.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
That's lifted when you're when you're when we won or
are winning.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
I think for us, honestly, we've always just kept it inside.
We've always kept in the locker room. We've always kept
it about the people in the building. And for us,
we've always had that mentality, uh success or no success.
We've always just played for the next week. From the
outside looking in. Obviously there's expectations and there's burdens and
there's narratives. But for us, you know, we play for
each other, we care about the building. So it's not
a big shift for us. Again, we have to make
(08:22):
sure we're consistent, diligent in our work. You know, coaches
always talking about chasing the work and that's what's going
to make us and we're all bought into that at
least time, do you.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Know what kind of relationship do you have with Justin
justin Field? Do you know we kind of friends business friends.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yeah, I've yeah, I've been around him a couple of times.
The times I've been around them, it's been you know,
it's been great being around them. I know a lot
of people that are close with them, and you know,
I've heard I have a ton of respect for him,
a ton of respect for his game, heard all great
things from people that have played with him. And you know,
it's from a quarterback standpoint, it's it's you kind of
(09:00):
learn a lot just because you know, you're always watching
a film and you're watching so you you watch a
bunch of people, and again from being able to watch
him and watch him play and watch his film, I
have a have a ton of respect for the player
in person.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
He is right, So I know that I know that
he's on the defensive side of the ball.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
But with the news that Pat Jones is out for
the year, how do you absorb that as a leader
of the team and just as a human. Yeah, I mean,
first of all, you know, first foremost I feel for him,
for him, his family, everyone. You know, that's just such
a you know, uh, it's the worst part of the
worst part of sports. So I feel for him, definitely
be praying for him. And you know, for us, we
(09:34):
understand it's a unfortunately, it's part of the business. It's
the next man mentality, and you know, we we all
want to make sure we're better for him, want to
go out there and and and play for him and
rally around that. Again, we all have confidence in and
everyone in that locker room, whoever you know, whatever it
is that that you know, the roster changes with. We
we know with whoever has to step up will step up.
(09:56):
But I just feel for him.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
Things aren't going well on the own, you know, oh
and three on the road, three at our home, but
O three.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
On the road. Do you do it?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I'm just curious, are you like superstitious at all? Do
you start doing things a little differently? Get on the
first BLUs that is stecond by. I mean, do you
is there anything goes through your head.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
These I'm not I'm not superstitious at all. I believe
God or names my steps, so I'm not superstitious.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Is there anything you change going into being on the
road after you know, the first three games where it
hasn't gone so well.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Uh no, it's it's sticking to the process.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
You know. Again, there's certain challenges of you know, there's
a difference of course when you're in the bank versus
somewhere else, you know, but everyone deals with that.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
That's football, that's NFL football.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
We have to make sure that we can just be
as a fish in our process as possible. You know,
it takes work, It takes point of emphasis and you know,
being on certain things throughout the week and how it
can make sure we're gonna optimize our communication. But there's
no drastic change. There's no uh, there's no magic uh
you know, magic, magic talk or one little thing that's
going to change everything.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
We have to go out there and execute that. That's
what it is in this league, and we all know
we're capable of doing it, but we have to put
the work into to put ourselves in a position to
do it.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
As you mentioned, just a couple as who you you
mentioned faith and all that. Uh, when you look back
at your career up the high eighs the low lows.
What's been the source of your being able to never
lose faith in yourself and faiths, family, friends, whatever.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, definitely my faith. You know, I'm I'm I'm I'm
very blessed. I'm super grateful to be on the journey
of life that I'm on. I'm a big believer that
everything happens for a reason, big believer that God ordains
all my steps, and I try my best to focus
on the day to day, to focus on the tangible
things that you know, what I can have and what
I can do in front of me. But I don't
(11:41):
believe I'm in control of the grand, big picture of
my life. And because of that, I'm I'm able to
be confident what I do, confident in my process. It
lifts that burden from me and the Lord takes it
from me. So yeah, it's it's definitely my my faith
that has allowed me to be where I'm at.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
In touch on that a little bit earlier. With the
improved play of the offensive line, you guys have been
able to really kind of almost run at will, especially
over the last couple of games. So you talk about
the value of that as it relates to creating a
more fluid play calling environment.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's huge.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
I mean, the old Lion has done, i mean, a
phenomenal job in all phases and that's as it is.
And then when you factor in how much movement there
has been, you know, obviously there's there's injuries, there's been
shoffling people around here for to not missabeting everyone is
step up like they have.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
I mean, I mean it's been it's been huge.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
And like you said, for a play caller, for myself,
for the entire unit. You know, whenever able to be
a fishing in the run game, when you're able to
to stay on schedule, it opened so much, so much
more open, so much more up. You know, it allows
us to do a lot of things offensively. So yeah,
a ton of credit goes to to that entire room.
It's been huge for us.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
I appreciate you guys,
