Speaker 1 (00:00):
Obviously, we're really excited about this draft class. A lot
of hard work was put in, uh you know, by
the scouts, by the support staff, the coaches. You know,
it's just a group effort. We felt like everything went

(00:22):
really good. We're really pleased with how the draft turned
out and just excited to keep building this team and
you know, towards something you know, special.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
So yeah, we're excited. You have anything to.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Say, Oh, just culture fit guys that we uh, you know,
all the work that we did on the film first
and foremost, you know, the football players and then just
uh you know, thanking Eddie and Deuce for you know,
just kind of the background and making sure that these
guys fit into what we're trying to do here. And
just excited that again, you know, we got guys that

(00:56):
that fit our culture and the play style that we're
looking for.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
All Right, thank you guys so much. We will kick
it off with Joe person.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Dan and Dave either or both.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
Look like a heavy emphasis of on sec defensive guys
just and an offensive guy. But what is it about
that conference and have these new you know, it's the
NIL and the consolidation of some of these bigger conferences
just made a bet on the SEC and even even

(01:32):
better bet these days.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, I mean, I don't I don't think it was
done on purpose in terms of the SEC stuff. It
just kind of turned out that way. Just some Obviously,
there's you know, some really good players in that conference
and you know, we just so happened to draft them.
So I think we got some good ones that we're
really excited about.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
All right, we will go over to David followed by Jeff.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Hey, guys, I appreciate all your help this weekend. One
to ask you, is there an emphasis on this team
like he's got two young receivers. You're just trying to
go young and develop this team with the long haul
moving on from you know, from some of the older
guys you had to get to kind of get where
you are this past year.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Honestly.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I mean, the draft makes you younger, you know, every year,
so really just looking for guys that fit in, you know,
the profile that we're looking for, and you know, just
by by default and nature of it, you know, that's
the way it works out. But for us, it was
just about every year we have this opportunity to go
in there and to challenge our roster and the players
that we selected in different spots, you know, give us

(02:43):
the ability to create competition in each of those rooms
to hopefully just elevate the entire you know, performance of
the group.

Speaker 6 (02:51):
And you said band before the draft that you feel
like everything was set up in free agency, so you
guys didn't have to reach and didn't have to, you know,
take somebody you really weren't looking at. Do you feel
like the way this went with the number of offensive
players taking two wide receivers the best kind of indication
taking best player available?

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yees? Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
I think you know, we wanted to go by the
board and and just kind of follow the board, and
I feel like, you know, that's when you have your
best draft, is when you you know, trust your gut,
you stick with your board, and you take the best players.
And that's what we did this draft, and we'll continue
to do in the future, and we feel like it
worked out really well for us.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
And finally, what's what's the biggest surprise that you ran
into this weekend? What's that the biggest surprise player that
you weren't expect to get, biggest thing that happened really
surprised you?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Stood out?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
I don't know if there's anything specific that you know,
kind of stood out, but you know, I think there's
definitely some some players that we drafted that I think
maybe we had a little higher on the board than
where we drafted them.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
So I think, you know, maybe we got a little
lucky in a sense.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
But hey, we're really we're really excited that it happened
and we got our guys.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
And I can only imagine that happens across the league,
as all of our boards are going to be different,
and we value different things, attributes as players, attributes as
the person that we're looking for, and so there's just
this crazy way of all thirty two boards just kind
of working themselves out and meshing to where you look
up and there's no players up there where they shouldn't be,

(04:29):
and if one is sticking out, that means we valued them,
you know a little bit more than somebody else might have,
you know. So that was a cool learning process for
me too.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
Thanks a lot, greeting Jeff Hawkins from the Charlotte Post.
Considering the contract status of Motana Nikki and not choosing
a natural tackle during the draft, I used to cure
an extending more time or the tackle just not falling
the place for you guys.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
First off, if we are going to pick up Ikey's
fifth year option, just to kind of get that out
of the way, I just actually notified him and figured
I'd get it out of the way before I talk
to you guys. So, uh, we're gonna pick Ikey's option up.
And yeah, we love Taylor. You know, Taylor is obviously
a really good player. We're excited about him and and

(05:20):
and this season and you know, from there we'll you know,
we'll get together and we'll we'll figure out the future.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
But right now we're focused on the now.

Speaker 7 (05:31):
Was there a tackle that you liked and just didn't
go your way or.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, there was just like the plays better. Yeah, there
were some tackles that we had on the board that
we liked.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, it just kind of worked out the way that
you know, we drafted a different position.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
So again we were going, we.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Were following our board and kind of sticking with that,
and you know, it just so happened that a tackle
wasn't you know, the top player at the time.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Thanks very much.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
All right, we will go to Mike, followed by Alex Well.

Speaker 8 (06:04):
Geez, I mean, you just kind of broke news on us,
So I'm kind of collecting myself.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Just kidding.

Speaker 9 (06:12):
The end of Dave.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
This is for both of you.

Speaker 8 (06:14):
I know it's weird to just go straight to a
six round pick, but Jimmy is kind of a unique player.
Can you tell me what he brings to not just
the receiving room, but the return game.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah, he's a dynamic punt returner. It's really fun to watch.
But he's more than that. You know, if you look
at his body of work and just as a true receiver,
you know, he's he's got an explosive element to him.
He can stretch the field. You know, he's got run
after catchability. And so I think just that whole thing.
And then we brought him in, you know, and visited
with him and talk to the guy, and I think,

(06:49):
you know, we can all say collectively, you know, we
fell in love with the guy, you know, and just
the passion for the game. You know, you can just
feel his his energy and excitement and gratitude for the
opportunities that he's gotten.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
And so, you know, whenever you.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Get a guy like that that's got a lot of
depth of character, it's it's really exciting to to pair
that up with uh, you know, with with the playing ability.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah, and he's not the biggest guy, but he has
you know, he has a love for the game and
he plays the game with a chip on his shoulder.
And you know, we're looking for those type of guys
and just another guy that we're excited to have.

Speaker 8 (07:26):
And then the other question is, I mean, obviously you
guys want to host a kicker competition. Undrafted free agency
will eventually start. You can't contact those guys technically right now.
How aggressive do you think you're going to be an
undrafted free agency with that position?

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Yeah, I think, you know, not just that position, but yeah,
we'll be aggressive at that position and and others as well.
So you know, we need to fill our roster out,
you know, to the ninety man limit, and we're going
to sign the best players and we'll be aggressive, you know,
in post free agency. So we were you know, during
the draft, So we'll stick to that philosophy.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Thanks really help this week.

Speaker 10 (08:06):
Yeah, hello guys, congratulations on getting through the twenty twenty
five drafts. So the you guys drafted Lathan Ransom, the
safety out of Ohio State. Is it is it fair
to say that y'all have a type when it comes
to investing in that safety position, considering he's a physical guy,

(08:29):
kind of like Trayvon Moore Rigg that you got in
free agency.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah, I think it's the play style right first and
foremost you look for, you know, the guys that exhibit
that kind of effort and juice, you know, the enthusiasm
we talked about, toughness, you know, intelligent play that shows
up playing smart, you know, and a finisher, you know.
And when you get a chance to talk to this guy,
you know, he's just he's he They won a championship
for a reason at a core of really talented but

(08:55):
also really driven players, and we just love being able
to bring somebody that that has that winning mentality, you know,
into the building.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Yeah, and I'll add to that.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
You know, just watching Lathan's tape, you know, just the
way the way that he plays the game. Again, it
goes back to the passion, the energy and the love
of the game that he plays with. He could tell
he just enjoys the physical aspects of the game and
just being out there with his teammates, celebrating each other.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
And just having fun. So he's he's exciting to watch
on tape.

Speaker 10 (09:31):
And then y'all drafted four offensive guys and four defensive
guys with striking That balance just happenstance or was that
a priority coming into the weekend.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
I think it just happened that way, you know.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Obviously we you know, we said we want to draft
the best players, and I think it really just turned
out that way.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Got it?

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Thanks, guys, All right, we will go over to Joe
follow by Darren and we have time for a couple
more yet.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
Dave, you mentioned the character, uh and culture fits right
at the top. Anything with play style or traits. That
was kind of a common theme running through these these
eight guys.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Yeah, all the play style things we talked about. These
are guys that you know, first and foremost play hard
and that have energy about them about the way they
go about their business. And that was why it was
so important to meet these guys, you know, in person
and make sure that you can feel you know, the
passion for the game and and and different different aspects

(10:42):
that excited about different parts of it. You know, but
you just go through that and you want to make sure.
We wanted to make sure that we, you know, check
those boxes. First and foremost, uh so that that we
know what we're getting. And I think, you know, I
kind of talked about this the other day, but being
around our players here in the building for a year now,
being able to see the expectations, you know that are

(11:03):
that our players set the standards that our guys set
in their specific position rooms, and then for the units,
you know, just kind of making sure that the guys
were bringing in are as serious about winning, are as
serious about attacking the day as the guys that we have.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
And one last one for Dan after taking team Act
Thursday night, was they're a pretty concerted effort to sort
of make the next couple of picks or the high
picks devoted to defense. And do you think you did
enough for defense? I know you didn't get a corner

(11:40):
or an off ball linebacker.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Yeah, you know, I think I think there was a
plan and you know, and process in place. We knew
the strengths and the weaknesses of the draft, and you know,
we felt like in that second round that you know,
we weren't going to get a real quality receiver that
we were looking for. So, you know, in terms of
philosophy drafting t Mac, we knew that there was going

(12:03):
to be a lot of edge rushers in this draft
and that we'd be able to capitalize, you know, there
in the second and third round.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
So you know, I think we knew the board.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I think we had a feel for the league, and
you know, at the end of the day, it really
worked out well for us. You know, to draft the
receiver first and then two edge rushers that we think
are really you know, damn good players. So it worked
out really really well for us.

Speaker 9 (12:32):
This for both of you, guys, wanted to ask about
Cam Jackson adding somebody of that size after going out
signing Turk, signing Bobby in free agency, how do you
see all those new pieces kind of fitting together and
is there one guy? Are there a couple of combinations
of guys you're looking forward to seeing next to each other.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
As you put that group together.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
I think what was important for us is versatility inside,
and you know, having a guy like Bobby Brown has
played the nose, played all across the front was huge.
You know, Uh, Turk the disruptive way he plays, you know,
and more of a compact build, but he's really sudden,
just kind of having a little bit of a different
style of play and then you know, it's kind of

(13:15):
the same thing as we were looking at at Cam
Jackson's film and kind of evaluating him. He played the nose,
He's played all across the front, you know, very similar
to Bobby and and for me, it's the openness for
for for a Garro and for coach Wash you know,
and the defensive staff to be able to let these
guys show us what they can do so that we
can put them in the best you know, situations possible

(13:37):
and find those combinations Darren, but it gives us a
lot of flexibility.

Speaker 9 (13:45):
And Dan Dan specific to Cam, I mean, is there
a quality about him that kind of stood out other
than just the simple size and length.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Yeah, obviously the size and length first and foremost, like
when you see him in person and in his pads,
I mean, that's a big man, big long man that
can you know, he takes up a lot of a
lot of room, occupies a lot of blocks. He's going
to keep our linebackers free. But you know, I don't
think many people realize just how like mobile he is.

(14:17):
You know, for a big guy, you know, he can
get up and down the line of scrimmage and make
plays out on the perimeter. So yeah, he's he's not
just a big man and space eater, like he can
move a little bit now too,
