Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hoon for the review.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I just wanted to address the game again, you know,
mentioned it afterwards a game of missed opportunities, and the
defense played great, had three interceptions, played the run game
pretty well, had a couple popped out on us, but
for the most part, you know, somewhere in the three
eight average in the run game, and played a solid day,
played physical throughout, you know, offensively, just could not get
(00:28):
our rhythm going, and really it just started off with
the run game. I have to make sure that that
comes alive. That's a part of who we are, It's
a part of what we believe in, and we have
two great backs that contribute to this team. The offensive
line was blocking well and that was a missed opportunity
by me, and I'll do better in that regard. But
in general, you know, we had some opportunities to make
this game, you know, a lot closer, even as we
(00:50):
were battling ourselves back into it.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
We'll start things with Joe Person, followed by David Newton.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Hey, Dave, Obviously the league acted on tray Von. Do
you know whether he is going to appeal that.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'm not sure that's up to train his uh, his
whole group as they discussed this, so but he and
I had a good conversation. Obviously, I'll keep all those
things private between between Trey and I, but they'll they'll
make any decisions going forward.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
And then what are the updates on all your injury guys,
But I guess specifically on the two and protocol JC
and Claude.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Yep, just in concussion protocol right now. We'll take that
day to day. And then the one I will share
with is Corey Thorton suffered a fractured UH A fractured tibia,
I believe h fibula and it was a it's going
to require surgery and he'll be out for the season.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
And Dave, did Mary did I see Trayvon leaving in
a boot last night?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Also?
Speaker 2 (01:55):
He's he's got something going on with his ankle. He's
being evaluated as well, and he'll.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Be day to day.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
We'll give you the full the fore part of it
on Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (02:08):
Hey, Dave, can you expand on what you saw in
the video regarding Trayvon and what your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Wrong at I will not.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Jeff Hawkins, Hey, greetings, coach.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Hey Jeff, Hey, you mentioned the run defense Chris Barnes
finished with the game high ten tackles and jumped in
to pull Jennings away from Trayvon but with Sureless going down,
did Barnes showing off in his first start to secure
a spot on the fifty three with the Rams coming in?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
That's certainly part of our discussion right now. Love the
way Chris played, played physical, was playing good assignment football.
And Ben Martin Scott also got in at the end
and really flashed, showed some athleticism in length and just
a real just just instinctually getting to the ball and
then run game in a different ways.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
I was going to follow up with Martin Scott what
did he show you in the second half? And with
the Rams coming in, are you going to rely on
on Barnes's experience?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, that's the plan right now is to hopefully get
Trevin back, as you know he's been week to week,
and then just look at the rest of the group
to see who can help us.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Thank you coach, John Alice, coach you good after how
you doing?
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Hey good? How are you good man? You have a
history a little bit in the NFC West, of course,
if you wouldn't mind share in some thoughts on coach
McVeigh his staff. Obviously you're familiar with some because they're
on your staff. Now just take us back a little
bit and some of the things to look out for,
not just strategy wise, but just personality wise.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
I just love the way that they're innovators, the way
that he takes the game, the core principles of the game,
and then just tries to expand it, you know, and
understanding that our role as coach is to continue to
build this game and move forward, and Sean has been
at the forefront of that part, not just from a
football standpoint, but operationally too. The plan of the week,
(04:11):
how he schedules things with his players, how he speaks
to his players, you know, and and really has an
environment that grows young men and helps them become better,
helping them to really approach their work with professionalism. The
care Navigator.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Thanks David new In.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Heany coach me again, you mentioned that you got to
get the running game or get more involved in that.
You feel like, in hindsight looking back on that, that
that you gave up on that too early because you
guys were averaging more than five yards or carry.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, not too early, just in general, David. I think
that's the part that I can take an accountability for
is making sure that it's a part of it throughout
the process, throughout the game. It gives us great balance.
And I love to give the ball a Rico. Love
to get a ball to Cuba so that they can
make an impact on the game in their own way.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
Okay, and what are your attentative plans if you don't
have Trayvon in the game.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Yeah, we have a bunch of guys that were bringing in.
We have guys in the building that we'll talk through.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Thanks Jason.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Dave about the run game. Rico put up a post
on social media today with kind of a confused emoji.
Have you had a chance to talk with him? It
seems like he wasn't real thrilled with his role last night.
I have not. Will you seek to do that?
Speaker 7 (05:42):
Not right now?
Speaker 4 (05:44):
And then, Dave, Isaiah Simmons, is the plan to play
him at linebacker or safety?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
That's we're going to figure that part out. He's also
been a contributor on special teams. But he's a big,
fast athlete worth just bringing in, you know, getting him
out there, get him comfortable with our schemes and hearing
our words.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
You think you got chance to be up this week?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
He may, Thanks thanks to Larte.
Speaker 7 (06:14):
Thanks hey, coach, the thought on the quick turnaround. I mean,
this was obviously an attrition game in San Francisco, and
you know you're hoping to get treving back. But the
jury's out on Claude and JC because it's early in
the week. How difficult of a week is this for
you guys in terms of planning and prepping for you know,
(06:35):
for a really good RAMS team.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, a short week has its has its challenges, but
at the same time, you know this is the next
championship opportunity, and we've got to make sure that when
the players roll back in tomorrow we're ready to get
back to our processes, get into the game plan, and
get ready for the Rams.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
We have time for a couple more. We'll go with
fash High. Hi, Dave, just curious what your evaluation was
Bryce after watching the tape and then what were your
conversations like with him today.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Yeah, we have a lot to improve collectively as a group.
I know Bryce will be the first one up here
and tell you can do a better job on some
of those interceptions and those are all things that we're
working on together and we'll attack it tomorrow when the
players come in.
Speaker 5 (07:19):
John Ellis, John, you're I mute, sorry about that, guys.
Jalen Coker has been back in and out of the
lineup a little bit here. Looks like he's playing the
slot outside as well. How's he coming along from your perspective?
And what's the challenge from You're in and Brad's in
and balancing all of the talent you have out there
(07:41):
to get obviously working his way into the role that
he's trying to work into, and how do you balance
developing him but knowing the cocher offers something as well
on the outside.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, the hope is that as our concepts continue to materialize,
as guys are detailed with it and all in all respects,
really it starts up front with protection. But for this
skill group, I'm really excited about the growth and the
steps that this group has been taking, you know, with
t Mac and Xavier and Jalen really being the primary
targets on some of those things. And Jalen's made the
most of his opportunities and I'm proud that he's that
(08:13):
he's showing up that way.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Thanks to our last two questions. We'll both Mike so
r Tey and things off with Nate Wimberly.
Speaker 7 (08:22):
Thanks again, Kia dav Is there. I know you addressed
it in your opening statement about the missed opportunities. Is
there a level of frustration about that because you know
that it was there, You know things were there for you,
and twelve games in, you don't want to miss on
opportunities like you had.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, we feel like that. Collectively, We feel like we
missed some opportunities, especially the way the defense was playing in.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
The first half.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
We could have capitalized on those things, and I expect
that to happen in the future. You know, those are
the things we talk about as a group, you know,
to cash in on the turnovers that happened, you know,
and offensively, to take care of the ball. To eliminate
those those types of things is because it leads to points,
and we can do a better job there. Over too,
in the red zone, one for seven on third down,
those are critical areas to extend drives to come away
(09:08):
with points, and we've got to do better there.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Hey, coach.
Speaker 8 (09:14):
Historically this season, this team has always seemed to rebound
from from from from bad games and bad losses and
things of that nature. But with the way things happened
last night, you know, and the injury is starting to mount,
and you're about to take on arguably the best team
in the NFC. How do you keep this thing from
snowball and making sure this team can rebound and and
(09:35):
and and get back to where you.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Guys want to be.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
We just take it one week at a time. Every
game is a championship opportunity, and our focus has to
be that way. We have to look at each day
as critical. Every walkthrough, every meeting, every practice, it all counts,
It all matters and points to that goal. Uh, to
create that championship mindset so that we can be ready
for these games, UH, these high stakes games and this
opportunity this weekend.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
All right, coach, that seems to be all the questions
that we have for you today. Thank you so much
for taking the time, all right,
