Speaker 1 (00:01):
Upon further review, does it feel like you're you're finding
kind of comfort in this front seven in in the
in the system right now?

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah? I mean every day I go out there, I
just try to go out there and just really get
a feel for the defense, the guys I'm rushing with,
and really just get back in that flow. That's what
training camp all about.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Can you take us through that play?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Really? Uh? I think you came from the west side,
left side, which which play the It sad but the
lot towards the end. Yeah, Uh, I just kind of
got off the ball. I knew it was past, so
I got off the ball, felt to overset to my steps,
hit a quick inside move, came through clean.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
K Now that this defense is has had a game together,
or at least a couple of series together. What do
you know now that you didn't know a week ago.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Uh, it's just about just all gaining experience really, just uh,
as we rush together, just learn to trust each other more,
learning how to rush off each other, and then we
just gonna keep doing that every day and we gonna
keep getting better or.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Out thar is he?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
God?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Do you like practicing in this ring?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Always kind of a blast out there in the ring. Yeah,
I'd be outside all the time. Uh, I have no
problem being outside in the ring. I don't mind it.
I actually kind of like brings me back to like
when I was a kid and just playing football outside,
like in my neighborhood in the ring, so with my friends.
So it's kind of the same thing to me that

(01:23):
you got reunited with DJ Wan did.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Uh. How's it working opposite of him.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
On the stefense?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
That's cool?

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Uh. We me and dj we got so much chemistry together. Uh.
We be out there. We ain't even got taught. We
just kind of just look at each other and then
we just know what each other's saying. So it's cool
being out there with my dog again. Were you guys
close in Minnesota? Yeah, yeah, we were super close. We
used to hang out kick it every day.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That was my dog, one of my closest friends, uh
in the NFL. So it's cool being out there playing
with him.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Was he a part of one of the reasons you
wanna go?

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Uh? Yeah, Uh, he definitely. Once he hit me up
and he was down here, he told me, uh, just
how the staff was and how great a place it was.
I knew I could trust him, so he definitely played
a part too.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
What have you seen from those young agri crushers in
Gordon and Princely?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah, man, they're so talented. It's actually so cool seeing
them just keep developing every day. I try my best
just to help them with as much as I can,
just try to just help them grow more as a rusher.
I feel like when I help them and I see
them go out there and do better, it just makes
me feel good about myself too.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
After the games, Gordon said that even though he's trying
to take your job, y'all are still helpful. How do
you balance that with the guy a young guy who
wants to take your position, but still you're in like
a mentorship role.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, I mean that's part of the game. That's how
he should think, That's how his mindset should be. Of course,
I'm not gonna let that happen, but like for sure,
like you want that competitive edge in the room, and
when everyone's competing like that, it just makes the whole
room better.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Those two guys ask a lot of questions, like more
than most rookies are. They constantly kind of coming up
to you in the other veterans.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, so I sit besides both of them and meetings,
So whenever in meetings, I just any chance I could get,
I help him, I help him out when I can.
They'll lean over ask me questions, just to answer all
the questions they got.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
You think it's more common or uncommon for guys in
this league like that was like you to be more
willing to assist younger guys kind of trying to think
your spot. Do you think more guys are kind of
more insistent.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
To doing that. Uh, I'm not really sure. I'm not.
I've never been the type of person to really think
about what other people do. I just know how I
was raised and my beliefs. I feel like when you
do good, good comes back to you. So that's just
what I try to do. I was gonna ask the
fall up, when did you embrace that role from being
the guy that was likely asking the questions of his
veteran to being that guy that they turned to. Uh.

(03:34):
I feel like I feel like even in Minnesota last year,
the younger players in our room, UH, I would always
try to help them. I feel like that's just the
type of person I am. I just try to just
do good and just I feel like that's what the
game's really about. Like whatever you learn, just passing and
knowledge on. So that's just that's just who I am
and what I try to do.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
That. You had a career high seven sacks last season.
Do you feel like you are still an ascending player?
And what are your goals personal goals for this year?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yeah? Uh, last season, I did. I feel like I did. Okay,
I feel like I had a lot more in the tank. Uh.
Actually got nicked up a little bit, slowed me down
a lot. Uh. You see how it started off last year.
You could see like kind of what happened, But I
feel like I got so much more. I feel like
that barely scratched the service and I got a lot
more I could. Do.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
You make a goal like double digit sacks, It mean
you a guy that shoots that like makes those sorts
of personal goals.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
And yeah, I got personal goals, but I feel like
those are aside. My My goals I really have right
now is for the team. Uh. I talked to the
coaches when I was in here. I came here and
I told him I'm here to try to change the
culture and help win games. So that's what I'll do.
And I know if I do that, then all my
personal goals will be met eventually.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Not as you how to use on the field, Like
how much how much of a difference can you feel
when Derrick Brown steps down there, like even before it's down.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, you could feel a huge difference. Uh dB you
know he a great player, so just his presence alone
out there, it just you could just feel the difference.
You could feel the uh just the energy, the physicality
on the line, Like it's just great. Helping him back
out there with.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Us raises the bar for everybody.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, it's it's for sure.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
How the rooky how the rookie uh count show it's
been going.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
It been cool. We just seen the offense so far,
but uh, I think we got the defense coming up soon,
so that's gonna be cool to see.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
How it was pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, it was bad. It was bad, so that that's
good for us though the defense defense they got pretty easy.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Is there a competition between like as veterans, like is
your if your group is gonna do better than the
other one?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Oh yeah, you always want, like your position group to
to win and do the best. I mean that's just
how it is. So we gonna see when they go
up there. I'm not sure when they going, but it's
gonna be.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Funny for your rookie.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Uh see, I got I got lucky. I ain't have
to do it cause I came and doing COVID so
we ain't have to We ain't have to do all that.
So I I dozed it. So I got lucky.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I think you should do it now.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Nah, Nah that that time passed gone Aio Games, I'll fit.
I don't think I seen its outfit. Yeah sure, he said,
I'm sure you put something on though. Yeah. Sure have
they got the two rookies got a little s style.
That's uh you know, what do you say out of that?

(06:15):
If you notice it at all or just outside of
the football. Oh yeah, Uh they definitely be trying to
just for sure. Uh it's cool seeing what they be doing.
Uh yeah, it be yeah,
