Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hop I for the review two days in the training camp.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
What what survived after the last of this year.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I think, uh, everybody's getting after you know. H we're
competing a lot, you know, both sides of the ball,
you know, showing that we want to show who we
are this year, and I'm just kind of building the culture.
So far.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
This is the first time in your life you haven't
been playing football in the Midwest or in Missouri specifically, right, Yes,
you kind of learned more about yourself off the field
on the field just being away from everything.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Well, I'd say, I I like the weather out here.
You know, it's hot, you know, and uh, knowing that
it's not gonna get cold as where I was, just
that it's a good thing to me. You're willing to
trade the humidity for the lack of a harsh winter.
I mean, uh, we gonna change that around here. How

(00:58):
much of the defense scheme and how much is just
effort and sort of want to and and guys just battling.
I mean, uh, I think a lot of things in
football are scheme. You know, that's both sides of the ball.
But uh, you gotta kind of just wanna be a
dog when you r playing run defense, you know, and

(01:18):
we got a lot of guys that's willing to do
that for the rate cultureal chis, what are the Yorks
antalented culture here? Because of that? Oh yeah, I'll say that.
I think every team around the league wants to win,
you know, so the culture that coach rebuilt over there

(01:39):
is something that you know, he's known for, not just
with them, but the Eagles, and you know coach Canals
come from cultures of winning as well. So I think
we starting to build in the right direction, and all
the guys are buying into what the coaches want. So
the culture here is definitely gonna change.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
What was your dip on Pat's interception todays?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Uh? I think he was a little surprised when he
caught it, how he started running with the ball. But
you know, it's good to see guys like Pat make plays.
You know, he knew her as well, so it was
just good to see him get it and you know
he got tell him to tuck the ball away. Was
he a little loose with it? Yeah, a little loose
with the ball, you know. I think it's surprised. I

(02:20):
think you want to go down. I don't know if
he was ready for it or not? All right right
out there, I did have an interception. I think my
interception came against the for uh the commanders. You know,
I appended to somebody head. I think my interception kind
of looked cooler.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
That was my second year, second year, so twenty twenty one.
It was honeykey, honey. In college, in college. In college,
I got two up in college, one for eighty one
yards and then the other one for sixty four So
I could run a little bit.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Where their home recovery.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
One fumble recovery one, uh, forced the fumble, picked it
up and went so with a little trifecta right there.
You remember you sound like you remember every detail about that. Yeah. Yeah,
you know, we always big on details. I mean, like
eighty one yards and sixty four four. You know you

(03:24):
don't get some rushing yards in there.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Your your stories one of the better underdog stories in
the NFL. Right now, Have you talked to the draft
of free agent guys that have come out here?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
What had you say?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, I think every year that I've been in the lead,
I always talk to the undrafted guys just because, uh,
it's more undrafted guys than drafted guys in the lead,
of course, and just telling them to stay humble and hungry.
You know. Uh, it's kind of a day to day
thing that you know, you could get in your head
about where you standing at. You know, you have a

(03:59):
bad practice, you probably put your hair down, but just
knowing that everybody here to compete and we all getting
judged the same, you know, so just telling them to
stay stay tutored to who they are. You know, we
all got here for a reason, and just going out
there and give your best effort every day you got
in Kansas City when you first got there, who gave
you kind of a similar message. I think I just
kind of went in myself knowing, you know, they was

(04:21):
coming off of a huge victory when I got there,
and then we came in in COVID, so it was
kind of different. But guys like Tiring and Frank Clark,
Chris Jones, they kind of just always talked to me
based off what I was doing on the field. You know,
they was impressed by by everything. So those type of
guys just always stood next to me.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Turk and some of you who has to go against Rico,
what kind of stands out about this game now that
you've seen it for a few days.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Here, Oh Ricoe five, Okay, uh Rico, Yeah, I think
uh so. Crazy thing about Rico is we was at
the Shrine game with each other when we came out
of college. But uh Rico is one of those guys
that he got everything to him. You know, he could
catch out the backfield and you know coming off the

(05:08):
coming off the ball when he got it in his hand.
He's dangerous. But you know, as of right now, we
can repete him, so I gotta make sure I stop him.
But uh like I said, he brings everything to a
team that's needed as a running back that could do
all and I've even seen them return punts before in
his career. So it's just a good guy stood out

(05:31):
to you on that defensive front. In the light of
the fact that you only have Bobby or Derek right now,
I think a sean. You know, the young guys are
always ready. I think we all we all merging together
right now. You know every day that we're meetings, everybody
answering questions. You know, nobody's lagging behind when coach asks

(05:53):
the questions. Everybody knowing what they supposed to be doing.
And knowing their responsibilities in their assignments. So I say,
the whole group is standing out to.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Me in the same thing with just George depart year
earlier this year, how Christian regiment to trading Austin you
ain't not just as performance, but as as communicators, leaders.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
And stuff like. Man, yeah, I think roller Boom meeting.
You know, he just got here. So he's out there
communicating with us. You know, he's giving us the calls
and you know, just doing our job. We should know
a few things that should help him, you know, being
in defense, we need to know what we're supposed to do,
so we can help him out by knowing what we're
supposed to do in being able to align ourselves. But
he's doing a great job. Got good stories from here,

(06:37):
like for six months in Charlotte, first six months right now,
just been locked in. Man, you know, it's all about
going to get a win. So that's where I got
it going right now,
