Speaker 1 (00:19):
The Worldly Vikings postgame report from Tottenham Hotspur courtesy of
Lumen has good news. Despite trailing a majority of the game,
the Minnesota Vikings ran down Kevin Stefanski and the Cleveland
Browns and got what some would call an improbable twenty
one to seventeen victory with Pete Bursage I, Paul Allen

(00:39):
Carson Wentz finished with two hundred thirty six passing yards
and one touchdown. It went to Jordan Addison to win
the game with less than a minute to go. And
Jordan Addison we record this right after the game. He
sat out the entire first quarter and the report is
that it was not injury related, so therefore you got

(01:01):
to believe it was for disciplinary reasons. Over the week
and a half we've been here in Europe. Jordan may
not have made the start, but he certainly came up
big at the end. Vikings win. Pete, Yeah, and Paul.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
You start digging into the numbers and you're looking at
minus two on the take give right. That was the
one thing that coming into this game you didn't think
you could do. We got a defense that's only given
up two hundred and twenty five yards per game, and
the Vikings are able to hang three hundred and forty
nine yards on this defense. And you know, it was

(01:37):
just watching how the offense evolved. We were on a
script early had success early. You know, the play with
cam Akers was brilliant. You come out at halftime, you
march right down the field, and then things started to
change right and then you got another fumble and it
looked like, you know, Cleveland was going to be able
to come back. So you got to credit our defense. Yeah,

(01:58):
we gave up a lot of big a lot of
a lot of yards on the ground. However, however, nothing huge,
not a ton of big, explosive plays. And for you know,
for Gabriel a decent outing on his on his first start. However,
nothing explosive and down the field. And there's anything that that
that our offense does that we see week in and

(02:18):
week out. Is how big that how how important that
could be in this day and age of the NFL.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
The Cleveland Browns just weren't able to do it.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Third and longs, those kinds of situations at two minute
one at the end of the game, they just were
not able to make it happen. And man, you gotta
you're down four out of five offensive line.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Wow, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
In the last quarter of this football game. You got
Walter Rouse out. It's just like you drew it up
right and Blake Brandell. It's sent I mean for them
to be able to find a way to win this
football game. Yep, it's mean. It says a lot. It
really to me.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
It's defensive line that's best in the NFL against the run.
Let let's just elaborate and amplify what Peach said. Now,
Christian Darosaw left the game basically at the end of
the third quarter by design. So therefore, as his recovery
goes from an ACL and multiple injuries at Los Angeles
less than a year ago, in fact, three weeks less

(03:15):
than a year ago at SOFI on Thursday night, he
you know it, discretions the better part of valor here.
So he was gonna play x amount of plays. He
left the game justin school went from right tackle to
left tackle. Walter Rouse checked in, played right tackle. Joe Huber,
undrafted from Wisconsin. He was your left guard for the
entire game. Blake Brandell, normally a guard, he was the

(03:38):
center for the first time in his NFL career. The
entire game, and Will Fry started his fifth game and
he played at right guard. It's a makeshift Minnesota moving
company for Carson Wentz, who goes for two thirty six.
And there there were some first in this game too,
like Ryan Wright had a seventy seven yard punt. They
needed that badly. Cam Akers threw his first National Football

(04:01):
League touchdown. He's a running back now, you know, I
mentioned this on the broadcast, but Kevin O'Connell, for ever
since he met Cam Akers with the La Rams, he's
been infatuated with cam akers passing ability. Cam was five
of eight for ninety seven yards at Florida State back
in like twenty nineteen, eighteen, seventeen and so on. And

(04:21):
they finally got a chance to use that cam Akers pass.
It was a touchdown to Josh Oliver that started things
for Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeah, do you tell me if college scouting is important? Right?

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
You remember, these are all the little things that you
have to remember. But the challenge by this offensive line
was absolutely accepted. And you know, yeah, we had penalties
earlier on We shot ourselves in the foot a couple
of times. It's just getting over the two fumbles. I
mean that's you mentioned that. You mentioned the punt by

(04:52):
Ryan Wright. We get you know, our defense goes out
stops them. They're putting out of their end zone. We
get the ball in Cleveland territory and then proceed turn
that over. That's a huge momentum swing. But at the
same time, we hung in there. The defense might have
bent a little bit, they didn't break. And as ugly
as some of these numbers are, Paul, you you have

(05:15):
to realize that the big they didn't give up, the
big explosive plays ended up in points. They made him
line up one more time, one more time. We didn't
have the success on fourth down defensively that we've experienced throughout,
you know, throughout the last couple of years. And you know, no,
you know one I think one sacked the entire games.

(05:35):
First time we had one sacking on but eight games
it's it's, oh no, we had we end up having too.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Okay, so that nine consecutive games, longest streak in the
NFL with at least two.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yeah, what an amazing What an amazing run that that
has been. But got Carson wentz Man. I come away
from this game very impressed by him. His hanging in there. Uh,
his ability to scramble, keep plays alive. I mean he
tried to be gutty earlier and maybe run for a
couple first downs and almost cost him his shoulder when

(06:04):
he took a hit. And we were some questions going
in the second half if it was going to be
the Brosmer show, the Brosma show. Excuse me, but man,
they hung in They all hung in there, and I
mean this is something that coach O'Connell I think, talked
about before the season even started that he viewed this
week as an opportunity for this team to be together

(06:25):
in an enclosed environment North London, get together, you know,
get to know each other and then turn in battle
for each other. And Paul, they did that today. These
guys did not give up despite all I mean looking
at that offensive line, they did not give up. They
hung in there. And you know, hopefully with the bye

(06:46):
you can get healthy. But we're this was a pivotal,
pivotal football game and you come out of this thing
two and three. You got the same record as Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yep. I mean what a huge, huge win.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Tyree on Ingram Dawkins with his first NFL sack Ivan
paced junior with his first sack this year. Those were
the two for the Minnesota Vikings. Let's hear from head
coach Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Obviously, we knew this was gonna be a very hard
fought football game. That's one of the best defenses in
the NFL, and they do a lot of challenging things
running the football and just making keeping you off balance defensively.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
So I knew we would have to battle.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
We'd have to play well in the kicking game and
try to win the turnover battle and do some of
the little things right.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
We weren't able to do that, but our guys.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Just, you know, as connected of a team as as
I've been around, as far as a trip like this
ten days, you know, just relentless in their pursuit of
trying to win a football game. Today, Proud of a
lot of guys, Proud of our team, Proud of our
coaches for just battling some you know, we had a
little bit more adversity, some cause by ourselves, and we

(07:53):
found a way to win a football game. So I
really appreciate all the folks that made this trip possible,
starting with the people in the house with the with
our team, We've got the best ops, the best trainers,
the best strength coaches, the best nutritionist. I could not
do my job without a lot of folks that went

(08:14):
into put a lot of work into a trip that
had not been done before. And to see our team
come to life and finish the way they did as
a credit to a lot of them, as well as
the host here in London and obviously in doublin our
first game. It seems like we've been gone a while
and we're very much excited to get back home and
and try to start getting healthy and and a lot

(08:36):
still in front of this team. But it's good to
have gotten this victory here today. Just then, injury update,
Carson Wentz did have a left shoulder, was able to
come back in the game after halftime, and then Jordan
Mason had a quad contusion and excuse me, also finished
the game. Christian Dearsol was part of a.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Plan we knew at some point.

Speaker 5 (08:58):
Christian, based upon the high snow up count last last week.
We we wanted to be smart with CD, and uh
didn't didn't make it any easier as far as having
to navigate the end of the game there with without
one of the best left tackles in football. But want
to compliment CD his his willingness to uh, you know,
continue to ramp up and continue to be such a

(09:20):
critical factor for our team. Proud of him and once
again just proud of our guys. But I'll open it
up to you, guys.

Speaker 6 (09:30):
Kind of what gave you the confidence to go to
Joe Needs Fund.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
With that fund And well, you know, we were you know,
a lot of those calls, we were really centered around
you know, you're going fast, trying to navigate having having
a few young bucks in there up front against one
of one of the best fronts in football. So a
lot of it is just trying to kind of navigate
through that first and then you know, try to get

(09:55):
some one on one opportunities for some guys. And we
were able to kind of move the ball against some
single high and they were kind of disguising a little
bit of some split safety looks out of those single
high looks, and Carson did a nice job seeing it.
When we got single high, we were able to get
the ball downfield. You know, Justin made a great play
on on the one on one outside and then we
kind of got down there and the you know, whether

(10:17):
it was it was either going to be a world
where they were going to try to pressure us to
see if they can move us back out of field
goal range if they could, so, we were trying to
make sure we had a plan for that, but at
the same time, you gotta have somewhere to go with
it if they do try to play cloud and Carson
was ready for that. It was a kind of a
coaching point we gave early on in the game that
showed up in a and a.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Guy to have it type situation, you had to set
as touch.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Why Jordian wasn't on the field for the plus court.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, you know, we're always going to keep a lot
of those details in house, but I do think I
want to share with you guys, he missed a walkthrough
this week, and you know, those types of things aren't
in alignment with our with our standards, and uh, you know,
wanted to make sure he was held accountable for that.
But at the same same time, he knows that I

(11:02):
thought he handled it professionally. He spoke with the team
to let them know that when when whenever I gave
him the opportunity to go in the game, they can
count on him, and uh he makes the game winning,
game winning catch. But I love Jordan Addison. I think
he's a guy that I care about tremendously and and uh,

(11:22):
you know I I he knows that every guy in
that locker room has his back. He knows that I
will never waiver in my confidence and belief in him.
But at the same time, we've got standards, and uh,
personal responsibility and accountability are huge if you want to
talk about culture.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
So that's where that's what happened there.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
It felt like there were a lot more moving pockets
like boots and stuff like that he and his game
plan than there have been in the past couple of years.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
For you, Is that a.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
Product of the defensive line offensive line matchup or am
I reading?

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah? We wanted to make sure we had a game
plan to try to win the game today.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
Hi coach those defensive plays at the end of the
second quarter to hold out the Browns to minimize from
to only the field goal. Did that give you massive
boosts going in at halftime because you came out but
started a tour quarter with a real energy, a real
driver to being able to hold up.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Yeah, I think you know, first and foremost you're able to,
you know, get the stop when you defer to start
the game, and that kind of opens that door to
a possible chance at at doubling up, you know, to
end the quarter and start the second half, and we
didn't do that, But I did feel like that stop,
even after giving up the drive we did to keep
them out and hold them to three was a boost.
And then it was the offensive turn to go out

(12:42):
there and stack some plays. I do believe, you know,
we you know, we had some critical penalties that eliminated
an explosive run in and explosive pass today.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
To two fumbles that just cannot happen. So we've got
a lot to clean up.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
It is early in our end the season, and you know,
I'm going to continue to challenge and push every coach,
every player to maximize what we can become as a
football team by growing individually and collectively, and it always
starts with.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Me, and I've got to do that as well.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
But but yes, there was moments in the game where
I thought, uh, like I said, the connectedness and just
the team that's been bonded together through some unique circumstances
over the last ten days, but long before that, as well,
it showed itself. There was no flinch, there was no defense.
You know, get to stop. We get an incredibly short

(13:34):
field and we and we and we fumble the ball
on the first you know, dart near and field goal
range and we fumble that ball. Have a you know,
an area upfront and allow immediate penetration.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Those things can't.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Happen consistently if you want to win games. You know,
I'm excited we're able to battle and go finish the
way we needed to. But there's still a ton of
improvement that has to happen for our football team. And
like I said, it starts with me.

Speaker 8 (13:57):
Cap it as a formal pools back yourself final drive.
Prior to all, we say to Carson Wentz, you know
is Brown's defense got I think got three sacks in
the game, causing problems for out the whole fourth quarters.
What you're saying to Wentz, try to drive add He
went on to throw to Addison to win the game.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
I just you know, it can be in the back
of a guy's mind when he knows he's got some
young guys in there against the front like that. I
just told him to trust me, you know, I just
told him, let me worry about, you know, as best
I can what's happening up front, and help where I can.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
I just want you to play fast and see it
and throw it.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
And I thought he had some incredible throws to move
us down the field in that sequence to score.

Speaker 9 (14:36):
Into this game with the firm amount of snaps for
Christian Derris, is it just kind of working with him,
Durm of how he's feeling.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Or what was the plan.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
Yeah, you know, coming out of the high snap count
last week, you know, which he really went from, you know,
the first half against Cincy and then we had nearly
eighty plays against Pittsburgh, you know, and it's just that
direct dialogue, Kevin, between Christian and myself and our training staff,
and you know, just as he worked through the week.
We tried to give him as much time to turn over.

(15:03):
But that's a pretty aggressive jump for his snapcount. I
gave him so much credit for staying in there and
battling to the very end in Dublin, and then we
just wanted to make sure this guy's had an unbelievable
journey back where he deserves so much credit for what
he means to our team and his individual journey that
I think the right thing to do is always to

(15:25):
have that open dialogue. You try to create a plan
that the player can feel good about, regardless of you
know it necessarily is what I want in the moment,
That does not matter.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
It's what's best for our players.

Speaker 10 (15:36):
Adversity is the word that you use to describe a
team in the trip that you've had, Like I said,
a longer trip than most teams have made. Injuries KEYINGJ
was on the offensive line and on the defense, JJ
not well come in but not being able to play,
and the guys have all been stepping on. What is
that a testament to the character and the strength of
this team? And how proud of you are you the
guys that have stepped up and had to start effectively.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
Yeah, I'm not sure anybody's had a trip like this,
but it's definitely on the podium for the longest I
would believe.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
I don't want to.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
I'm sure that I'm sure that you know there's something
I don't know, But what I would tell you is this,
you know, there's moments throughout a season that might always,
might not always be in alignment with the reactionary world
of our game being the most popular game on the planet.
And I understand and our team understands certain aspects of

(16:27):
of things that get discussed and talked about and and
the narratives that get formed. But our locker room is
cleansed of that. Our locker room is just about the
right stuff. It's hard to explain. We call it the
invisible presence, and it's something that needs to be built
and carved and shaved to each individual team every single year.
But it's important, and it's it's something that matters. And

(16:50):
I'm sure there's gonna be people that listen to that
and think that's the strangest thing they've ever heard, but
so be it. It matters to the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 11 (17:00):
Out of three.

Speaker 12 (17:00):
Now, is this beginning to look like potentially it's his
job to lose? How are you evaluating the quarterback situation?

Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeah, I'm just excited.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
We got to win today and we're going to move
forward in this buy and get as healthy as as
we can at all positions and attack this thing through
the next few games.

Speaker 13 (17:16):
Coach, speaking up the bye week last year, obviously you
went into five and open and lost to two.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Coming out.

Speaker 13 (17:21):
Yep, now you're free and two, how can you ensure
that you're going to be sharper coming up to buy
this time, especially when you give be kind of the
Eagles and the charges.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Yeah, so I think it's I think it's really important
first and foremost that we exhaust our opportunities to get healthy.
We've been pretty banged up at you know, some critical
spots for just looking at the original intent of your
starting twenty two guys, twenty five guys or so that
you hope to really lean on. So we've got to
get healthy, and I think we've got to use the
time as a coaching staff to figure.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Out what is the identity of this year's team.

Speaker 5 (17:53):
And it's it's been hard to really, you know, figure
out exactly what that looks like, just as it's been
such a game to game really in many ways, day
to day approach, just trying to maximize our preparation, just
trying to improve and continue to elevate the floor of
our of our team because that floor has been called upon.
We're three and two. We were going to be able

(18:13):
to go home after what's been a you know, a
trip that has has required some required some things out
of a lot of people, and we got one win
on this trip. We would have loved to come away
with two, but we were relentless today in our pursuit
of just finding a way to win a football game
against a good team.

Speaker 14 (18:30):
Describe what Justin gave you today.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Yeah, He's.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
He is a guy that I've been so proud of
the way he's led our football team through through training
camp and and you know, I mean I'm old enough
to remember when he had an injury that knocked him
out of nearly all a training camp and he was
still one of our most dynamic leaders on the field.
You guys, Ale like you were there every day, you
felt him. But it's it's his ability to rise to

(18:58):
the moment. And you know, I thought the catch down
the middle was a pretty critical one, even though we
didn't end up getting points, I believe on that drive,
then he makes the playdown on the right sideline, and
just our team feeds off of eighteen in so many ways,
and we have so many explosive players on the outside. TJ,
you know, Josh, you know, TJ. Hockinson's another guy, Alec

(19:20):
that we're asking a lot of him right now. That
doesn't necessarily coincide with him being one of the best
route running tight ends in the NFL. And there's some
sacrifice going on going on all across our football team
to do whatever is required to win one game, and
that mentality can be a powerful thing as we inevitably,

(19:40):
you know, start to get some guys back.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
I told our team the other day, the good news is,
you know, a lot of our guys that we have
down right.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Now, they will return and we can start to really
figure out exactly what we are as a team. But
I still think the growth and the identity you're forming,
you know, through these opportunities, you only get seventeen of them,
and there are none to take for granted. We need
to be razor sharp and preparing to win. However, we
need to win and and metrics and all the you know,

(20:08):
we did a lot of things to lose the game today,
but you never know it just watching our guys compete
and just continuing to play the next snap. And that
is a unique characteristic of teams that will find a
way to navigate the journey ahead.

Speaker 15 (20:22):
After just on the final drive, after you went into
a little bit of a rout in the third and
fourth quarter, just after they've opened series in the second half,
how do you go about sort of implementing a sort
of flow for that final drive, Like, how do you
go up finding that again when you've got to you know,
a most.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Have a situation. Yeah, it's you know, first and foremost.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
My brain hurts right now, if I'm being honest with you,
navigating that at the end and just trying to make
sure that our team maintained their poise, specifically on offense,
knowing that we had to travel a good bit there
to try to get.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Seven to win the game. But what I would say
is you go back to, you know, the rut.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
We we have the type of drive where we're very
you know, we're able to stack plays to start the
second half, and we go down and score.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
And I made a bad play call. You know.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
We'd been running some quick game, you know on a
first and ten and we thought we had you know,
kind of help prepared, and we ended up getting an
inside move on a first and ten that taking a
double move to Jordan Addison had been set up and might.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Have a chance for it.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
But that's that's the risk reward proposition that that you
battle as a play caller on game day. It's hard
defense to drive the ball over and over twelve thirteen,
fourteen plays, you're going to need some explosives mixed in
against that group because their goal is to try to
make you snap it one more time and one more
time and one more time and then force the negative.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
We gave it to We give it up too easily.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
I thought when we didn't move the ball, it was
either a turnover, they punched one out. We obviously, you know,
fumbled that, you know, the critical critical play fumble in
the second one, and then just there were some you know,
penalties that into those long yarded situations that they are.
They're foaming at the mouth for those for those plays,
and you try to avoid them and navigate that while

(22:07):
also picking your spots to see if you can take
a chunk or two to try to get into that
area where we feel pretty confident in our red zone plans.
If we you know, when we can get down there,
we feel comfortable and confident that we're going to find
a way to punch it in.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
All right, well, cam Akers told Ben Leeber on kfa
N after the game, out of the by the a
topic is just cleaning up the miscues. The vikings were
minus two in the turnover differential. Today, teams minus two
in games win about eight percent of the time. The
Vikings won, and the Vikings, you know, are the most
penalized team in the NFL. Until the Jacksonville Jaguars play later,

(22:44):
we'll see what they do. But the Vikings had a
penalty on the first play of the game. Will Riiker
missed the landing zone. So the Browns began at the
forty cleaning up. Facets like that are only going to
take good and make it.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Better, Yes they are, and those are again they should
be relatively easy to, you know, to fix. It's it's
been the fumbles have been a problem in years past,
early in the season. It's the penalties this year. But yeah,
you got a lot of new faces and new groups
and new people and new voices everywhere at quarterback, the
entire offensive line. You get a brand new center this week. Overall,

(23:18):
I think as the game went on, I think guys
got into the got really got into their grooves, and
you know, many we had some other opportunities. Brandell got
hit with a penalty that would have nullified a fifty
yard Jalen Naylor reception, So there were other opportunities to
be explosive and man, another thing that stands out in

(23:41):
my brain at this point of the game is just
Jim Schwartz and just how he is. So he just
wants his corners. They have to challenge and they have
to play one on one. They don't do much schematically
to help him out, and we won that battle.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Carson Wentz came up big, like the nlystp Bursa said.
When when, like Kevin O'Connell says, be your best when
your best is required, That's exactly what Carson Wentz did.
He hits Jordan Addison to win the game at Tottenham Hotspur.
And here's the quarterback after the game.

Speaker 7 (24:13):
If I can start off those two sacks that you
got on you and the tourt and fourth quarter de
really anger you coming down the home stretch or your
experience to say, right, this is not how Carson Wentz
is going to finish.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
Off this game.

Speaker 9 (24:28):
Yeah, I mean anytime you know, you walk off the
field punting the ball again. Frustrated, especially given opportunities. Defense
was stepping up late in the game like that, and
we had a couple of chances and just didn't finish
the way we wanted to. But I'm glad we got
that last chance down the down the end there. The
guys made plays to get it done.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Carson, were you worried if we're gonna be able to
come back in the game or what was one for your.

Speaker 13 (24:52):
Head to happen?

Speaker 9 (24:53):
Yeah, anytime you go into evaluate things, you never really
know the outcome. And so yeah, I thought medical staff
was awesome to work with and get back out there
and glad I was able to.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Can you walk us through the final throw Jordan from
your band?

Speaker 9 (25:10):
Yeah, First of all, he's a he's a stud, you know,
Justin Jefferson is as good as it gets and gets
all the recognition, but Jordan Adison has been nothing but a.

Speaker 14 (25:17):
Baller since I've seen him live, you know, these last
couple of weeks, and.

Speaker 9 (25:22):
You know, it was one of those just a simple,
simple route, simple concept, but he was He saw the
coverage and converted his route and the ball had to
come out. You know, I wasn't gonna take a sack
in that situation from given where we are on the field,
so I just tried to put it high and give
him a chance, and he made a heck.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Of a play. What do you think of the offensive
mind today.

Speaker 9 (25:38):
I'm so proud of those guys. I mean, for guys
to do what they did today, and a unique week
over here.

Speaker 14 (25:44):
All week. You know, we were down coming into the game.
We were down a handful of guys.

Speaker 9 (25:48):
You know, Blake Brundles starting first game at center, Joe
Hubert starting for the first time ever justin school, starting
at right tackle, then flipping the left tackle against arguably,
you know, one of the best defensive ends in the world.
You know, those things are not easy to do. And
for them to keep fighting, keep battling. You know, guys
made mistakes. That happens. I made mistakes, but the way
they battled and kept fighting, I'm so proud of those guys.

Speaker 15 (26:08):
Aw said, how you'll nerves and the ground the final
drive again, how you'll nerve during the final Grands drive?

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Great?

Speaker 9 (26:14):
Great, you know, it's one of those things there's so
much going on, you're you're doing everything you can to
just stay in the moment and stay focused. And we
were able to get it done and that makes that
flight a lot more bearable back home, going home with
at least a win today.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Kevin O'Connell has preached about like situational masters making sure
that you got commanded the situation, which was kind of
an issue last week because of the play clock.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Whatever was going on with that.

Speaker 6 (26:39):
This week it seemed like there was some trouble with
it down in distance markers. I know knew what's going
on there, But did that maybe complicate things as you
were setting.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Up those final drives. No.

Speaker 9 (26:47):
I mean there's things within every game that you can
point out that maybe we're weird or off or you know,
all those things, and so that didn't I don't think
I have any factor today. Again, I thought, guys, when
you talk about situation masters, to get it done the
way we did defense, to get a huge stop and
get us that opportunity an offense, to just make those
plays down the stretch the way they did.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 11 (27:09):
Parton. You talked about Jordan, but just what it Justin
mean to you today.

Speaker 10 (27:12):
At the offensive?

Speaker 9 (27:13):
Yeah, I mean, Justin's as good as it gets. Been
watching him for years from Afar, So pretty fun to
get a front row seat. You know, we missed a
couple today. I missed a couple, gave him some chances,
you know, want a couple back. But you know, he's
so good I'm just gonna keep giving him those chances.
And we talked about things on the sideline, made sure
we were on the same page. And I mean, like
I said, I can't say enough good things about him,

(27:35):
not only as a receiver, but as a leader for
this team. The way he goes about his business, that
his work ethic, you know a couple of weeks ago,
is catch after run, after tackle or breaking tackles, all
the things. I mean, he does so many things at
a at a high, high level. I can't say enough
good things about him.

Speaker 15 (27:50):
Cousin, You've played with some good receivers, but I don't
think anyone is in that sort of like Hatch a
lot of where Justin is.

Speaker 14 (27:58):
He's different. He's different. I'm still finding out every week.

Speaker 9 (28:02):
I'm not gonna lie, you know, a couple of high
balls down the field today, just giving him a chance
and his ability to go up and obviously at times
go up and over guys, but just in traffic, to
go high point a ball gives a quarterback the utmost
confidence to just let it rip. Honestly, And like I said,
he's different. He's fun to play with, and I can't
say enough good things.

Speaker 14 (28:23):
So what's a bit like navigating these games specific day
super him just give it all ups home.

Speaker 9 (28:30):
Yeah, you know, I just I love his demeanor in
the headset, like he's just still calm and just calm
plays and helping me kind of get locked in on
what but what the task at handles, you know, And
I think he's he's done a good job of understanding
where we're at as a team. He's in there all
the things who were up against, you know, formating and
game planning. You know, they work their tails off and
making sure we have we come to the stadium every

(28:52):
single week with the best game plan.

Speaker 14 (28:54):
We can have, and I thought they did a good
job of that today.

Speaker 11 (28:57):
Speaking of the game plans, you obviously went up against
the State and their defensive front last week. You come
up against another great defense today with the Brians. How
much did that Steelers gave last week help you prepare
for what you today?

Speaker 9 (29:08):
Yeah, I mean that's a great They were a great
defense today, another great defense. Different, you know, different schemes
and different things over there between the two defenses, but
both you know, great fronts, and yeah, you could argue that,
you know, maybe that game helped us a little bit
but again, they play so different, their play styles different
in terms of their schemes and everything. But again, I'm

(29:28):
just so proud of those old linemen, the way they
stepped up and just kept fighting, kept battling.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
You mentioned Kevin O'Connell in your helmet. Is he giving
you more than just like the play call, like right
before that fifteen second cut off?

Speaker 14 (29:40):
Is it giving you like things to look for.

Speaker 9 (29:42):
There's times and moments for sure, but just more than anything,
just stays composed, you know, no matter what just happened
to play before, whether there's good, bad, ugly, didn't matter.
Like he's just very composed given us play call, helping
us to helping me to just lock in, you know,
one play at a time and not get make things
too big, all those things.

Speaker 14 (29:59):
Not really appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
How is your sold?

Speaker 4 (30:02):
The feeling after the hits and after finishing the game plan?
It feels great with a win.

Speaker 14 (30:06):
I'm not gonna lie. Yeah, we're okay, We're okay.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
What's the plans for the bide week?

Speaker 14 (30:14):
I'm ready to see my family.

Speaker 9 (30:15):
I spent spent a long time being away from them
and my three crazy little kids, so uh not sure.
I'm not sure, hangout with spent a lot of time
with them, and just get healthy.

Speaker 7 (30:26):
You've been a round a lot.

Speaker 9 (30:28):
Was that sideline celebration kind of unique for a Week
five vick Or seemed like there's.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
A pret emotional Yeah.

Speaker 14 (30:34):
I think, you know.

Speaker 9 (30:35):
I mean, this is a very you know, in my
brief time here, it's a very unique group of guys
in this locker room, and I mean that in a
really good way. That everybody's so close. I think this
week was was great for that too, and the weirdness
of it. I think guys are very close and connected,
and you know, it's hard to win in this league.
At the end of the day, it's hard to win
in this league. And when you get it done in

(30:56):
a dramatic fashion like that, it doesn't matter who you're playing.
It doesn't matter if it's a Week seven team, super
Bowl Week one.

Speaker 14 (31:01):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 9 (31:01):
You're like, you got to enjoy those moments, especially the
way guys stepped up like that, and I thought it
was fun to see the excitement from everybody.

Speaker 11 (31:10):
JJ is on the men.

Speaker 12 (31:11):
But do you kind of look ahead a couple in
a couple of weeks and and do you kind of
have to see yourself as preparing to start in equoite.

Speaker 9 (31:18):
Yeah, I mean I've done plenty of looking ahead in
my life that I'm done doing that. I'm very much
trying to live in the moment and appreciate the moment
right now, and so I'm gonna enjoy this one, get
healthy and see what happens.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
I've thrown a lot of your career. You've You've utilized
a lot of your athleticism. I don't know how much
you feel like that's changed, but to the degree that
it may have had, does that is that a difficult
thing to kind of adjust to you? Like I noticed
like moles get at Randy down, He's gonna run down a.

Speaker 14 (31:44):
Lot of this.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (31:45):
Yeah, I'm never gonna win that one.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
But it just like it seems like the ability to
kind of figure out what your speed is relative to
a lot of the people might be more important for
people who use their athleticism a lot.

Speaker 10 (31:56):
In the past.

Speaker 9 (31:56):
Yeah, you say I'm not as athletic anymore. I mean,
I'm getting older, but no, it's it's one of those things.

Speaker 14 (32:05):
Guys are fast. On the other side of the ball,
guys are athletes.

Speaker 9 (32:08):
You know, there's at any given time, there's most one
guy I'm faster than on the other side of the ball.

Speaker 14 (32:13):
That's just the way it is. And so I'm not
trying to run around. I'm not trying to make plays.

Speaker 9 (32:17):
It just it happens when the pocket collapses or you know,
there's the defense or the secondary's got guys covered, you're
trying to make plays. And so that's not what I'm
trying to do back there. Some guys are in this position,
that's not me. I got some elite wide receivers and
tight ends out there. I want to get them the ball,
not do it myself. So yeah, those things happen in
the game, and yeah, just trying to do the best

(32:38):
I can.

Speaker 7 (32:39):
Carson has an experienced quarterback in the NFL. What did
you make of your counterpart today making his debut? Obviously
it's very hard to make your debut away from home,
and especially millions of miles away from home more for
a season.

Speaker 14 (32:52):
How did you think you faired?

Speaker 4 (32:53):
Yeah, I could only get to watch so much.

Speaker 9 (32:56):
Obviously, I'm staring at the tablet over there, trying to
make sure I'm locked in in the locker room. You're
part of it, But I know I remember those emotions
and all of the craziness that comes with starting your
first game. So it looked to the eye like he
handled it well. But other than that, I can't speculate
much about that. But you know, happy for him to

(33:17):
go and compete the way he did, but thankful we
got it.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Done all right now, in closing from Tottenham Hotspur, your
vikings are three and two. One thing about Kevin Stavanski's team.
That rookie running back when Shawn Judkins, you know this
is only his fifth game. They're really onto something good
with him.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
They are.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
I mean, all, we saw six rookies today, right quin.
Shawn Jenkins is very very good Harrold Fannin is a
very good tight end slash h back, Carson Swessinger very
good linebacker as a rookie, Mason Graham, I mean they
you know, you see six rookies get out there and contribute.
That bodes well for this Cleveland team. Yeah, they've got

(33:56):
problems at quarterback. They've got to figure that thing out.
But outside of that, this defense, man, you talk about
a physical group up front. They got some depth man there.
I think it bodes well for Cleveland. They again, they
got to figure out one spot, but they've got the
rest of it. I think pretty well hemmed.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
Up for Pete versage. I'm Paul Allen. That's the postgame
report provided by Luman, and we may be four thousand
miles away, but we send it. We send it airmail
with good news. The Minnesota Vikings beat the Cleveland Browns
just in the shadow of the finish line twenty one
seventeen off week next week, then Philly the champions at

(34:38):
US Bank Stadium two weeks from today. Thank you for
listening to the postgame report, and don't forget to check
out all of the information from this game at Vikings
