Speaker 1 (00:15):
Welcome to the Minnesota Vikings postgame report provided by Luman
and I'm Paul Allen, joined by analyst for the Kfan
Minnesota Vikings Audio Network, former player and coach Pete Persis.
After the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Philadelphia Eagles twenty
eight to twenty two, the Eagles snap a two game
losing streak. The Vikings are now three and three on

(00:38):
a short week, prepared to take on the LA Chargers Thursday.
From sofar, Jalen hurts phenomenal game.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
What do you think of the whole thing?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, I mean we didn't do enough to get him
off of his game. I mean, Jalen listening to these
numbers nineteen to twenty three for three hundred and twenty
six yards, three touchdowns, zero interceptions, a passer rating of
one phil eight point three.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
That's perfect. It's perfect.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And we talked about the Vikings giving up on average
one hundred and fifty six yards of passing per game.
Today giving up three hundred and twenty six. So you know,
the big the big play to Devonte Smith was one
aj Brown coming up big a couple of times, especially.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Late in the game on that third down play ball.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
But that's part of the story, right That's that's just
part of the story. It's offensively, the inefficiency in the
red zone and then the turnovers, mistakes at key times,
having touchdowns taken away because it kind of leaves whether
they're bad calls or not. Those things are continuing to happen,
and the offense is just lacking some continuity right now.

(01:45):
I think Wentz's goutted it out. I had a couple
of good scrambles by the end of the game, but
early on not much in the way of a rhythm.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Well, I don't I don't exactly know what the percentage
is for teams who go minus two in the take
give the turnover differential and also give up a defensive touchdown.
I mean, it has to be the percent chance of
teams like that winning has to be five percent or less.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
And that's exactly what the Vikings did today.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Wentz threw his fourth pick six and it was Jaye
xx Hunt, second year Houston Christian. He got his first
interception A and defensive touchdown B.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
How big was that?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, it was. It was definitely big. And you know,
you watch the way that play set up. We get
the tight ends flexed outside. The corners were covering the
tight ends, not the receivers in the slots, so we
knew we had the zone.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Carson Wentz thought he I mean, he knew what he
was going to get and he wanted to throw that
football across the middle of the field. And it was
just a great play by Jalx Hunt kind of. It's
it's like very Andrew van Ginkel of him to get
in that passing lane, intercept that football and turn it
into a touchdown. So, yeah, the odds of winning a
game when you're in when you're minus two and you

(02:56):
give up a pick six, you're you're definitely in the
single digits when it comes to probability of winning.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
All right, now, now help me with this, because the
Vikings are on a short week. Okay, Now you know
they've gone win lost, win, loss, win loss whole year,
you know, so technically, if you believe in patterns like that,
which I don't, they should win Thursday. However, Now Thursday,
by the way, Aaron Jones could return, certainly not speaking
for the team here, but his running his went injury
window opens next week, so he's.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Eligible to return Thursday. If he returns that.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Could help the offense with some continuity to compliment what
Jordan Mason has done. However, when when you think about
today's game and the offensive continuity or lack thereof, that,
this is a day darisaw was not on a snap count.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
He played the entire game.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Donovan Jackson returned, played left guard, tough guy Brian O'Neill.
Seriously with that with that right leg injury, well he
started and played the whole game. So they got the
moving company close to what you would expect.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I just didn't expect the lack of continuity to that.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
No, and you know you still look at Jordan Mason
average in almost four yards of carry. So it wasn't
as if it was a disaster up front. Carson Wentz,
I believe, was only sacked two times, getting.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
In the fourth quarter. Yep, So the protection wasn't awful.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Right again, you go back to do you where do
you look to to explain this thing? And it's kind
of it's been such a moving target throughout this whole
year because the offensive line has been all over the place.
You know, defensively we have been you know, they haven't
necessarily stopped to run great, they've been good against the pass,
and today kind of all that flipped on its head. Right, defensively,

(04:41):
we're we're not stopping the pass. We had some great opportunities,
especially in the fourth quarter on that third down in
about nine or ten, when Jalen Hurst is able to
scramble and get the ball out to AJ Brown and
move the chains. Those plays are the ones that are
backbreakers because that extends that and ultimately AJ Brown caught
a slant for a touchdown on Byron Murphy ju So

(05:03):
it's it's very, very tough when it's a moving target.
And what is plagued this team I think going into
this week has changed quite a bit. I mean, there's
a lot of different things that happened today that are
that are concerns.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, and for Wentz, I mean the pick six.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
You know, part of a lot of me says, that's
just a great play by the defense. They had the
right call, the right thing at the right time. The
interception on the next pass it time. However, that didn't
make a lot of sense. Okay, that was just him.
I don't know what you know really what that was.
But those mistakes and then the next biggest thing, Paul,
is what do we do when we get inside the

(05:41):
twenty yard line. Yep, right one of six today. We
got to be better. Yet, the Eagles weren't out in
the red zone once they might have been on this
last drive and then eventually got backed out. They scored
from outside the red zone the entire game, right three
you know, three touchdowns all from outside the red zone.
So that's not going to happen very often. You gotta

(06:02):
have a plan from when you get in there, and
you know, right now we're.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Struggling well, Davonte Smith before we hear from Kevin O'Connell,
Davante Smith finished with a career high one hundred and
eighty three receiving yards seventy nine yard touchdown, longest than
that young man's career. Aj Brown also had one hundred
and twenty one receiving yards and he had a couple
of touchdowns. So the Eagles with those two combined, those

(06:30):
two had more than three hundred receiving yards. Let me
ask you to put your your metaphorical coaching hat off
for a second before we hear from Kevin O'Connell. With
Kevin and with this staff off, a by you lose
the way you lost today, well, you just lost the game,
and now you've got a short week with travel on Wednesday, Like,
what are some coaching pointers you remember from when you

(06:53):
coached with us, say Mike Tye or when you played
for Denny Green with short weeks and like weird circumstances.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, would you have to have is a short memory? Right?
You have to take.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
Because you're not gonna have the time, really, I think
to sit down and go through the film and make
all those corrections. You got to move on right away,
as soon as you as soon as you show up
tomorrow morning. Everything you're thinking about is the Chargers, and
so you gotta sneak those in kind of along the way.
You got to figure out how much of the game
plan you can keep because you don't want to change
too much in a short week.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Because you're not gonna get a lot of reps.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Carson Wentz being a veteran, I think that's gonna help
him going into the next week. And when we start
talking about whether it's gonna be he or or JJ McCarthy,
what's gonna you know what's gonna.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Go on there? And just that's it.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
I mean, you got to move You got to have
a short memory, and you can almost paint it and say, hey,
we don't turn the ball over twice, then we're in
this football game. But we can and it and it's yeah,
I mean, it's a it's a legit argument. A lot
of other things that we got to fix. But at
the same time, uh, you know, the back end of
this defense, there was some mistake me in the secondary

(08:01):
that is kind of uncharacteristic. Whether or not you know
whether those came from THEO Jackson at safety. Are they
Isaiah Rodgers Byron Murphy Junior? You know, you look at
the last touchdown by AJ Brown, I'm not really sure
what he was trying to do. Is he bumped out
there late and you know a technique. I don't know
what his plan was, so to speak. But tip of

(08:24):
the cap to Jalen Hurts in this Philly. I mean,
I thought they were going to run the ball all
day long. I really really find you know, they did
make changes though they did bring in the extra lineman.
It seems like that's what this defense is going to
have to figure out because the Chargers are going to
run the ball fifty times.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
If they can't, it's a great.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Point the Steelers brought an extra offensive lineman Spencer Anderson.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
It helped Kenneth Gainwell. Browns did the same thing.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
It helped Quinn Shawn Judkins and likewise for the Eagles
today with Fred Johnson.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Let's hear from Viking's head coach Kevin.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
O'Connell thought, our guys battled, but we we did not
do enough to put the ball in the end zone
offensively with our multiple trips down in the red zone.
Pretty explosive, kind of competitive day moving the ball, but
we've got to find we basically, you know, had a

(09:17):
better day on third down, you know, third, fourth down fifty,
gave ourselves a chance for points, but we weren't able
to overcome kind of the fact that they win the
turnover battle two to nothing. We did that two weeks
ago and I told our team that is rare and
not a formula you know, to to win games consistently.
And you know, showed up again today and it was

(09:39):
was very unfortunate. But I thought defensively, their ability to
stop the run against a team that was, you know,
gonna come out and try to run the football on
us was a real positive. But clearly a lot of
explosives and and Jalen and their offense made some big
time plays that kind of limited our ability there in
the second half to truly try to come all the

(09:59):
way back back in and uh, you know, win the game.
I thought we had a touchdown chance there to to
TJ and ended up being a you know, a fourth
down that we convert and then we've got to find
a way to put that one in the end zone.
But I thinking back on the red zone trips, you know,
I think we might have missed an op on a
on a flat on one of our run pass solution
run pass option plays, we snapped the ball over the

(10:22):
quarterback's head for a minus twenty two yard loss, and
then I got to get some clarification just on the
holding call. Seemed to be a pretty routine kind of play.
But you know, that's that's the way. That's the way
it goes sometimes. But short week, guys are already in
the recovery mode now, and we'll turn our guys over
and go compete on Thursday night. Injury updates just Zay

(10:47):
Scott and c J ham as A. Scott had a
right wrist and CJ had a left hand. Those guys
will be evaluated here, you know, currently going on right now.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Everyon when Dalen Hurts makes the plays he makes on
those third downs, especially when he gets out, how difficult
is that to defend, just when he's able to extend
things as long as he did.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
On a couple.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
Yeah, it was a big, you know, big part of
the game plan was going to try to contain him
as much as we could to the pocket and try
to get home and see if we can first and
foremost force him into what seemed like I don't know
if I'm right on this, but it felt like three
of their third down conversions maybe the three they had
in the game, we're all long yardage kind of you know,

(11:29):
pretty backbreaking kind of plays when you've done everything to
force those dn ds of what they are, and then
they not only end up converting, but for some explosive
gains there. So I know, our guys competed all day long.
I thought, the defense, you know, even with us turning
the football over for a touchdown and then they were

(11:50):
able to kind of give us some ops to keep
that competitive and stay in the football game. And it
was back and forth just trying to find a way
to put the ball on the end zone and at
least find a way to get a lead at some
point there in the second half, had no you know,
no issues moving the football was it was points and
that has.

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Not really been our problem.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
And we were able to rectify some things on third down,
but a lot of self inflicteds did show up in
that red zone that make it hard to put the
ball on the end zone.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
What what did you see?

Speaker 7 (12:22):
King? The second half?

Speaker 8 (12:23):
They made it as you guys has ridden the offensively
through the years afore.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
Well, I think, you know, throughout most of the day
it felt like, you know, we did a lot of
good things in the past game. I thought our I thought,
our guys, you know, we had some early success in
the past game moving it between the twenties. Then they
made some adjustments and and we made some real time
adjustments to kind of keep the momentum and find guys

(12:50):
like Jordan Addison, TJ. Speedy, all those guys had some
some really, really nice plays throughout the day. And I
thought Justin was, you know, his normal self from a
standpoint of being a problem, and there was some real
emphasis to try to limit his impact, which opened up
some opportunities for some of the other guys, and when

(13:11):
we could you know, against you know, a pretty good
interior player there in ninety eight, when we could hold
up and allow the plan, you know, to kind of
come to life. We had some real opportunities down the
field and enough to move it, like I said, But
at the same time, you know, twenty two points when
you when you give them seven off of a turnover
and ended up in a very long situation coming off

(13:35):
of a penalty and ended up having the ball kind
of you know, ruled out of mounds on a lateral
there that put us in third and forever and then
turn it over on that third down just plays that
we it just feels like we put ourselves in some
of the situations of the football game that although they competed,
we've we've got to clean up, you know, we can't

(13:56):
allow you know, maybe third down execution one week isn't
up to the standard, and then you know, we it
trickles down to the red zone.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
When you do have a good day on.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Third down, to possess the football quite a bit in
the game and try to stick with the run game
as much as possible to then allow you to be
explosive throwing the football.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Holding in the red zonees sort of routine.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
What do you mean by that?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Just a normal technique that you see you kind of
see around the you know, around the league.

Speaker 7 (14:26):
From a trap.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
You know, it's called a trap, you know, knock a
guy's hands down. Gotta go back and watch it, you know,
didn't see it real time, but just I think the
officials were, you know, there was some discussion amongst them,
and they made the call, and and they're gonna, you know,
they're gonna make those calls and can't give them the
opportunity to throw those penalties because penalties and negatives in

(14:49):
the red zone make it really hard to come away
with points or seven. Did you get any clarity or
understanding of why TJ's touchdowns overturned? Really, my question was
kind of connected to TJ's play to the Saquon Barkley
challenge that I had earlier on in the game, because
it seemed like a very kind of similar premise of

(15:11):
why they should maybe be similar.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
But I did not. I did not obvious or not obvious.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Yeah, I did not get any You know, I'm not
a part of the conversations with with Bill or New York,
but this i'd judge that I was standing with tried
to update me as much as possible, but the main
update that I got was incomplete pass.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Kivin What did you see on courses first interception?

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Yeah, they brought a you know, they they brought a
man pressure where they dropped a defensive end out, gave
up a little penetration there. I think ninety eight was
you know, over the over the center, trying to isolate him.
We're doing a lot of things to try to combat
with what we do with our slides and things like that,
but they were able to kind of dictate the look

(15:59):
right there, and you know, I thought, wait, a chance,
maybe at justin if we could have one more click
to let him clear that dropper. But at the same time,
I think Carson had to get rid of the ball
and and uh, you know, they they had a dropper
right in the initial window of the play, and and
there was a critical, critical play in the game for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
How would you assess Carson to play as a.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
Whole, Yeah, I thought he competed. I mean clearly, he
you know, was able to you know, allow our offense
to be explosive. I think there were some I think
there were some plays that, you know, the turnover plays
or the first one obviously, you know, even if we
end up having to take a sack right there, you know,

(16:41):
the interceptions for for points the other way or are
massive plays in a game. And then you know, we
were third and forever or second and forever, whatever it was,
and his uh, you know, we kind of had a
kind of designer type move, the pocket type play. Didn't
think we particularly protected very well on that one based

(17:01):
upon the schematics of the play.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
But then he you know, that's not a time.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
That we want to be heaving that ball down the
field as much as you know, maybe where the intent
of it was. But listen, he was he was trying
to compete. He thought he saw a chance to make
the throw and ends up essentially being like a punt
in many ways sometimes on those plays. But the first
one was, you know, good defensive call by them thinking

(17:28):
you're going to get manned man and maybe the perfect
look for the play. And as we talk about sometimes
especially when eighteen's on the field, if it's.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Too good to be true, it probably is.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
So we got to confirm that and make sure that
those things don't happen.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Kevin, after the Hockinson catch gets overturned.

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Did you think it all about kicking the field goal
there and saving a little time before?

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Yep, yep, I did. It was just it was just
a matter of it being fourth and two. The idea
of still getting seven right there was you know, something
that I wanted to be aggressive on.

Speaker 7 (18:00):
And then just knowing that if we.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
Did have a scenario where with all three of our
timeouts left a scenario where we were getting it back,
if we could get seven right there, hold them and
then the way Will was kicking the ball, you know,
thought the longer since we were already so far down
the field. Ben you know, you you clearly if you
have to exhaust your three timeouts and then move it
maybe thirty five thirty thirty five yards or so and give.

Speaker 7 (18:24):
Will a chance to win.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
It was kind of the thought process there.

Speaker 7 (18:30):
I did think this.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
I think we got the conversion and then I did
I believe there was a sack and that was that
was a critical critical play to eat up so much
clock and then try to get into the right play
where we had a chance at TJ.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
I believe on the next one last year.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Kevin will just be more another more evaluation on quarterback.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Going into Thursday night, or do you stay with Carson
going in short week? Yeah, I think we first and foremost,
I thought he competed and got to see how he
comes out health wise. Took some you know, he had
to use his legs there a couple of times on
the last drive.

Speaker 7 (19:04):
We'll see how he how he turns.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
Over and and uh, you know, I know Max was
ready to go today and JJ was an emergency three.
But JJ was able to get some some work last week.
We'll see how he feels as well. And on a
short week, we're gonna, you know, put together the best
plan we can and that's also includes the players available
to us.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Well, it just seems like from the games you've lost
sort of in catastrophic.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Plays, and there's something that you can in point this
similarity to those losses that's happened.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
Well, I think, uh, you know, the one thing looking
back on it during the bye is those two losses
happened to coincide with you know, two of the original
starting five linemen going out at least offensively, and uh,
and then you know we're some of those catastrophic plays
tied to those plays. You know, I think they each

(19:56):
one of them have their their own story. But today
was a little bit more about kind of right. It
didn't really feel like we played a very complimentary football game,
you know when one side, you know, stopping the run
and getting them off the field. We were able to
move the ball and possess the football quite a bit today,
but not get seven in the in the red zone

(20:16):
when we got down there enough. And then when it
kind of became a little felt like a little bit
more of you know, offensively, we're we're doing a lot
of good things to move it. We just couldn't quite
make that one stop to kind of truly flip the game,
is what it felt like today.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Well, he's obviously frustrated, you know, specifically, it's like into
the buy let's please not turn it over, let's please
not have twelve penalties, and let's please not have all
these pre snap penalties.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
And they got better at some.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Things, they improved in some things, but the turnovers into
the equation you're so right, I mean, when the Vikings
are minus four in the take give into the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Game, yeah, and that's become and we're not getting them
on defense. Right, That was kind of the difference between
last year and this year twenty five I think twenty
five or twenty four interceptions a year ago twenty four. Yeah,
they're drying up now we have you know, we haven't
been able to get those Those go hand in hand
with getting pressure on the quarterback, and you just really
didn't do that today.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
You know why that is? You have to take a
look at the film.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Carson Wentz finished the day twenty six or forty two
for three hundred and thirteen yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions,
one was a pick six.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Let's hear from the Vikings quarterback.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Now, Carson, what.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Happened just in the red zone? And I'm being able
to finish some of these drives.

Speaker 8 (21:32):
Yeah, gotta look at the tape for starters. There's definitely
some execution I can be better at. I already know
a couple right away. But yeah, I mean, I like
to think we've been pretty good down there this year
so far. So some summer sect. You got to tip
your hat to that defense. That's kind of what they do.
They're willing to let you kind of take them underneath

(21:54):
stuff and then they're gonna try and not bend and
not break in the red zone. So they did a
good job, So how's off to them for that. I
thought we shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times.
Like I said, I missed, I missed a couple, and
so the rest I gotta go back and take a look.
I just come out all right, always always tough, and
your mind immediately goes. I got four days to turn

(22:15):
this one over, which is as tough as it gets
in the National Football League.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Not gonna lie, so we'll be right though.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Of course, in the second half, felt like you guys
kind of had.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
A rim of beat on what they were doing.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
What allowed but you guys to move.

Speaker 7 (22:29):
It was in the twentiest the way you did.

Speaker 8 (22:31):
Yeah, I like to think, you know, moving the ball
inside the twenties was not an issue most of the day.
You know, I think we had a couple of self
inflicted Obviously, I gotta not throw the ball to the
other team. That would be that would be great. But
I thought I thought guys came out ready to play.
I thought we were able to hit some of those
intermediate passing game, you know. Second half, I thought we
came out right away running the ball right down the field.

(22:54):
Hard to say exactly what it was other than that's
kind of what we expected. You know, we came in
with the plan. We kind of stuck to the They
didn't do anything crazy. I thought we moved the ball decent,
just you know, did next get in the red zone
and got him not throw to the other team?

Speaker 6 (23:08):
Chris, you take us through the pick six and Kevin
talked about how there's a dropper coming into that lane
as you're hot there.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
What happened from your vantage point on.

Speaker 8 (23:14):
That, Yeah, gotta see the tape a little bit, not
fully sure. That guy kind of surprised me where he
ended up. Obviously, don't throw it right to his chest,
that would be great. But yeah, I think I think
they had a good call. I think I gotta be
better and just progress or quite frankly, just take the
sack there in that scenario and not trying. I saw
the guy at the last second as I was releasing

(23:35):
the ball and then I was looking up at the
scoreboard seeing him run.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Not a good feeling.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
I gotta be better.

Speaker 8 (23:40):
I gotta be better in that situation, not try and
force it.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Got made a good play.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Can you talk us to the TJ play and then
where he's surprised, did you see the replay of what
did you think about?

Speaker 8 (23:51):
I could see some of it, truthfully, I was trying
to talk to coach of what are we doing if
we don't get this call?

Speaker 7 (23:57):
His touchdown?

Speaker 8 (23:59):
So so not really sure. All I know is I
can throw a better ball at the end of the day.
I can make it a little easier on him. It
looks like he got his hand under it. And whether
it's a catch or not, you know that obviously it
wasn't but unbelievable play it even give himself a chance
like that.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
He's a stud. But I can.

Speaker 8 (24:17):
I can definitely make that throw easier for him.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Of course, in two turnover in four days, Like what
is what is the key to doing before?

Speaker 4 (24:25):
It's a great question.

Speaker 8 (24:27):
Recovery starts immediately, you know, right when you get off
this podium, I'll be icing. You know, guys will be
taking care of their bodies, will be in quick tomorrow,
you know, throwing in a game plan as quick as
you can.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
You know, we're not the only ones doing it.

Speaker 8 (24:38):
Obviously they got a short week too, so quite frankly,
never been a huge.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Fan of the Thursday night games for this reason.

Speaker 8 (24:44):
But it's kind of just as what it is part
of the business.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Just in terms of your chemistry with Jordan Aisen, it
seems like it's been pretty consistent.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Here of Blast of the Weeks. What do you think
clings between you guys.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Yeah, I mean he's just really good. I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 8 (24:59):
He's really good, gets open and obviously Jets draws attention
every single snap and whether they're trying to cloud him
or put two guys over him like they did a
couple times a day. So it's gonna give you know, Jay, Speedy, Jay,
then Naylor who we call Speedy, a lot of one
on one chances. And those guys are good. They're just
playing simple. They're good and I have a lot of

(25:19):
trust that he's gonna be where he needs to be.
And he kept coming up big time time again today.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Carson.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
As you think back, you mentioned a couple that you
like to have back to kind of jump out of
you immediately. Where are the ones that you kind of
look back and say would have.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Liked to have that?

Speaker 8 (25:34):
Obviously the two turnovers that's always second one that was
just dumb trying to make a play and instead of
setting up and throwing threw it off my back.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
But not not a.

Speaker 8 (25:42):
Wise decision there, obviously, the first one leading to seven
points for the other team.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
That's never fun either.

Speaker 8 (25:48):
But a couple in the red zone, a couple of
chances there that I'm trying to think back early.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
I think I dirted a ball in the flat to Jordan.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
That was.

Speaker 8 (25:58):
Just a bad one. But yeah, there's a there's couple.
But again they made some good plays too. They made
some good plays and got to give your credit winners too.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
All right, Once again, the Vikings with a short week
at the La Chargers, and the next game will be
two weeks from this Sunday at Ford Field against the
raigning Division champions. Three weeks from this Sunday, we're back
home against the Baltimore Ravens. So this is a stretch
of one game at home and four away from home.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
I mean, these are key times right now.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yeah, they are, and they're you know, the teams that
we're playing are good. Obviously, the troy Lands are very
good fortunately for us, from playing Baltimore at home.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Whether or not they'll get their woes.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Fixed by the time we bump into them, you know,
we'll see. But yeah, the schedules, the schedules not getting
any easier, Paul, this was this was a critical game,
big game. Be able to come out of here with
a win, get the four and two. I think it
completely kind of changes how you see the next couple
of weeks. Thursday nights in California haven't been good for
us historically, so you know, we'll see, We'll see how

(27:01):
this team responds. It's tough, it's tough to go on
the road on a short week like this, but you're
gonna have another short week on Christmas at home. But
then you know, the division starts to hit. You got Detroit,
you got Green Bay, you got Chicago again coming up,
so you have a chance to fight your way back
and get yourself into playoff contention.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
The Vikings are one and two at home after losing
twenty eight twenty two to the Philadelphia Eagles, who snapped
a two game losing straight for Pete Versus John Paul Allen,
