In this calming episode of Abide and Slumber, we continue our peaceful journey through the Psalms by reading Psalms 110–128, a powerful blend of royal prophecy, trust, and pilgrim praise.

Psalm 110 opens with a prophetic vision of the coming Messiah: “The Lord said to my Lord…” From there, we enter the Songs of Ascents (Psalms 120–134), sung by travelers on their way to Jerusalem.. songs filled with themes of trust, unity, security, and blessing. Psalm 121 comforts us with the words, “I lift up my eyes to the hills, where does my help come from?” reminding us that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Whether you’re drifting to sleep, praying in quiet reflection, or seeking peace after a long day, let these sacred words lift your heart from earth’s worries to the steady hope of God’s presence.

Rest tonight with words that have comforted generations of believers on their own journeys.

Welcome to abide in slumber, where we rest in His Word and
sleep in His peace. This is your time to unwind, to
let go, and to enter into God's presence with stillness and

(00:26):
trust. Before we begin tonight's
scripture meditation, let's takea moment to quiet our hearts
using the rhythm of prey. Pause, reflect, ask and yield.

(00:49):
Pause. Take a deep breath in and slowly
exhale. Release the weight of the day.
Let your body soften, your mind quiet, and your spirit rest in

(01:11):
His presence. Reflect.
Consider God's faithfulness today.
Where did you see His goodness? What small moments of grace can

(01:33):
you hold on to as you rest? Ask.
Whisper a prayer to God, whetherfor peace, comfort, or simply
the ability to let go and trust Him as you sleep.

(02:01):
Yield now, surrender, release control.
Know that you are held, loved and watched over by the One who
never sleeps. Father, comfort us now as we

(02:31):
drift into sleep. Calm our hearts, our minds, our
bodies, and our spirits as we meditate on Your Word tonight.
Give us deep rest so we can wakeup tomorrow.

(02:52):
Refresh and ready to glorify youin all that we do.
Let's now rest in His word together as we journey through
Psalms. Psalms 110 The Davidic Psalm

(03:32):
This is the declaration of the Lord to my Lord.
Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your
footstool. The Lord will extend your mighty
scepter from Zion. Rule over your surrounding
enemies. Your people will volunteer on
your day of battle and holy splendor.
From the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to

(03:54):
you. The Lord has sworn an oath and
will not take it back forever. You are a priest like
Melchizedek. The Lord is at your right hand.
You will crush King on the day of his anger.
He will judge the nation's heaping up corpses.
He will crush leaders over the entire world.

(04:17):
He will drink from the brook of the road.
Therefore, he will lift up his head.

(04:39):
Psalms 112 Hallelujah. Happy is the man who fears the
Lord taking great delight in hiscommands.
His descendants will be powerfulin the land.
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness

(04:59):
endures forever. Light shines in the darkness for
the upright. He is gracious, compassionate,
and righteous. Goodwill come to a man who lends
generously and conducts his business fairly.
He will never be shaken. The righteous man will be

(05:19):
remembered forever. He will not fear bad news.
His heart is confident, trustingin the Lord.
His heart is assured. He will not fear in the end.
He will look and triumph on his foes.
He distributes freely to the poor.
His righteousness endures forever.

(05:41):
His horn will be exalted in honor.
The wicked man will see it and be angry.
He will gnash his teeth in despair.
The desire of the wicked man will come to nothing.

(06:07):
Psalms 113 Hallelujah. Give praise servants of Yahweh.
Praise the name of Yahweh. Let the name of Yahweh be
praised both now and forever. From the rising of the sun to
its setting, let the name of Yahweh be praised.

(06:28):
Yahweh is exalted above all the nations, His glory above the
heavens. Who is like Yahweh, our God, the
one enthroned on high, who shoops down to look at on the
heavens and the earth. He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the garbage pile in order to seat

(06:51):
them with the nobles. With the nobles of his people.
He gives a child as woman a household, making her the joyful
mother of children. Hallelujah.

(07:15):
Psalms 114 When Israel came out of Egypt the House of Jacob from
a people who spoke a foreign language, Judah became his
sanctuary, Israel his dominion. The sea looked and fled, the
Jordan turned back. The mountain skipped like Rams,

(07:37):
the hills like lambs. Why was it see that you fled
Jordan, that you turned back mountains, that you skipped like
Rams, hills like lambs? Trembled earth at the presence
of the Lord, as a presence of the God of Jacob, who turned the
rock into a pool of water, the Flint into a spring of water.

(08:14):
Psalms 115 Not to us, Yahweh, not to us, but to your name.
Give glory because of your faithful love, because of your
truth. Why should the nation say where
is their God? Our God is in heaven and does
whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold

(08:38):
made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot
speak eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear,
noses but cannot smell. They have hands but cannot feel
feet, but cannot walk. They cannot make a sound with

(09:00):
their throats. Those who make them are just
like them, as are all who trust in them is real trust in the
Lord. He is their help and shield.
House of Aaron trust in the Lord.
He is their help and shield. You who fear the Lord, trust in

(09:24):
the Lord. He is their help and shield.
The Lord remembers us and will bless us.
He will bless the House of Israel.
He will bless the House of Aaron.
He will bless those who fear theLord, small and great alike.

(09:47):
May the Lord add to your numbersboth yours and your children's.
May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth,
the heavens of the Lord's, but the earth He has given the human
race. It is not the dead who praised
the Lord, nor any of those descending into silence of

(10:08):
death, but we will praise the Lord both now and forever.
Hallelujah. Psalms 116.
I love the Lord because He has heard my appeal for mercy,

(10:32):
because He has turned His ear tome.
I will call out to Him as long as I live.
The ropes of death were wrapped around me and the torments of
Sheol overcame me. I encountered trouble and
sorrow. Then I called in the name of
Yahweh. Yahweh saved me.

(10:53):
The Lord is gracious and righteous.
Our God is compassionate. The Lord guards the
inexperienced. I was helpless and He saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to
you. For you Lord rescued me from
death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

(11:18):
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
I believed even when I said I amseverely afflicted.
In my alarm I said everyone is aliar.
How can I repay the Lord for allthe good He has done for me?
I will take the cup of salvationand call on the name of Yahweh.

(11:41):
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His
people. The death of His faithful ones
is valuable in the Lord's sight.Lord, I am indeed your servant.
I am your servant, the son of your female servant.
You have loosened my bonds. I will offer you a sacrifice of

(12:02):
Thanksgiving and call in the name of Yahweh.
I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all His
people in the courts of the Lord's house within you,
Jerusalem. Hallelujah,

(12:30):
Psalms 117. Praise the Lord all nations,
glorify Him, all peoples, for His faithful love to us is
great. The Lord's faithfulness endures
forever. Hallelujah

(12:59):
Psalms 118 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His faithful love endures forever.
Let Israel say His faithful loveendures forever.
Let the House of Aaron say his faithful love endures forever.

(13:20):
Let those who fear the Lord say his faithful love endures
forever. I called the Lord in distress.
The Lord answered me. He put me in a spacious place.
The Lord is for me. I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me? The Lord is my helper.

(13:44):
Therefore I will look and triumph on those who hate me.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
It is better to take a refuge inthe Lord than to trust in
nobles. All the nations surrounded me in
the name of Yahweh. I destroyed them.

(14:04):
They surrounded me. Yes, they surrounded me.
In the name of Yahweh, I destroyed them.
They surrounded me like bees. They were extinguished like the
fire among thorns. In the name of Yahweh, I
destroyed them. He pushed me hard to make me
fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and my

(14:27):
song. He has become my salvation.
There are shouts of joy and victory in the tents of the
righteous. The Lord's right hand performs
valiantly. The Lord's right hand is raised.
The Lord's right hand performs valiantly.

(14:47):
I will not die, but I will live and proclaim what the Lord has
done. The Lord disciplined me
severely, but did not give me over to death.
Open the gates of righteousness for me.
I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord. The righteous will enter through

(15:09):
it. I will give thanks to you
because you have answered me andhave become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the
cornerstone. This came from the Lord.
It is wonderful in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has
made. Let us rejoice and be glad in

(15:30):
it. The Lord saves us.
Lord, please grant us success. He who comes in the name of the
Lord is blessed. From the House of the Lord we
will bless you. The Lord is God and has given us
light. Find the festival sacrifices
with cords to the horns of the altar.

(15:54):
You are my God and I will give you thanks.
You are my God. I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His faithful love endures forever.

(16:20):
Psalms 119. How happy are those whose way is
blameless, who live according tothe Lord's instruction?
Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all
their heart. They do nothing wrong.
They follow His ways. You have commanded that your

(16:40):
precepts be diligently kept. If only my ways were committed
to keeping your statutes, then Iwould not be ashamed.
When I think about all your commands.
I will praise you with a sincereheart.
When I learn Your righteous judgments, I will keep Your
statutes never abandoned me. How can a young man keep his way

(17:04):
pure? By keeping Your word.
I have sought You with all my heart.
Don't let me wander from Your commands.
I have treasured Your word in myheart so that I may not sin
against You. Lord, may you be praised.
Teach me your statutes with my lips.

(17:25):
I proclaim all the judgments from Your mouth.
I rejoice in the way revealed byYour decrees as much as in all
riches. I will meditate on your precepts
and think about your ways. I will delight in your statutes.
I will not forget your word. Deal generously with your

(17:48):
servant so that I might live. Then I will keep your word.
Open my eyes so that I may contemplate wonderful things
from your instruction. I am a stranger on earth.
Do not hide your commands from me.
I am continually overcome with longing for your judgments.

(18:10):
You rebuke the proud, the ones under a cursed.
You wander from your commands. Take insults and contempt away
from me, for I have kept your decrees.
The Princess sit together, speaking against me.
Your servant will think about your statutes.

(18:30):
Your decrees are my delight and my counselors.
My life is down in the dust. Give me life through your word.
I told you about my life and youlisten to me.
Teach me your statutes. Help me understand the meaning
of Your precepts so that I can meditate on Your wonders.

(18:52):
I am weary from grief. Strengthen me through Your word,
keep me away from the deceit, and graciously give me Your
instruction. I have chosen the way of truth.
I have set Your ordinances before me.
I cling to Your decrees, Lord, do not put me to shame.

(19:14):
I pursue the way of Your commands, for You brought in my
understanding. Teach me, Lord, the meaning of
Your statutes, and I will alwayskeep them.
Help me understand Your instruction and I will obey it
and follow it with all my heart.Help me stay on the path of Your

(19:35):
commands, for I take pleasure init.
Turn my heart to Your decrees and not to material gain.
Turn my eyes from looking at what is worthless and give me
life in Your ways. Confirm what You said to Your
servant, for it produces reverence for You.

(19:56):
Turn away the disgrace I dread. Indeed, Your judgments are good.
How I long for Your precepts. Give me life through Your
righteousness. Let your faithful love come to
me, Lord, Your salvation as You promised.
Then I can answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in Your

(20:20):
word. Never take the word of truth
from my mouth. For I hope in your judgments I
will always obey your instruction.
Forever and ever. I will walk freely in an open
place, because I seek your precepts.
I will speak of your decrees before kings, and not be

(20:40):
ashamed. I delight in your commands,
which I love. I will lift up my hands to Your
commands, which I love, and willmeditate on your statutes.
Remember your word, Your servant.
You have given me hope through it.
This is my comfort and my affliction.

(21:02):
Your promise has given me life. The arrogant constantly ridicule
me, but I do not turn away from your instruction.
Lord, I remember your judgments from long ago and find comfort.
Rage seizes me from the wicked who reject Your instruction.

(21:24):
Your statues are the theme of mysong during my earthly life.
Yahweh, I remember your name in the night, and I obey your
instruction. This is my practice.
I obey your precepts. The Lord is my portion.
I have promised to keep your words.
I have saw your favor with all my heart.

(21:46):
Be gracious to me according to your promise.
I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to your
decrees. I hurried, not hesitating to
keep your commands. Though the ropes of the wicked
were wrapped around me, I did not forget your instruction.
I rise at midnight to thank you for your righteous judgments.

(22:10):
I am a friend to all who fear you, to those who keep your
precepts. Lord, the earth is filled with
your faithful love. Teach me your statutes.
Lord, You have treated your servant well, just as you
promised. Teach me good judgement and
discernment, for I rely on your commands.

(22:33):
Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I keep your
word. You are good, and you do what is
good. Teach me your statutes.
The arrogant have smeared me with lies, but I obey your
precepts with all my heart. Their hearts are hard and

(22:53):
insensitive, but I delight in your instruction.
It was good for me to be afflicted so that I could learn
your statutes. Instruction from your lips is
better for me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
Your hands made me, informed me.Give me understanding so that I

(23:15):
can learn Your commands. Those who fear you will see me
and rejoice, for I put my hope in Your word.
I know, Lord, that your judgments are just and that You
have afflicted me fairly. May Your faithful love comfort
me as You promised Your servant.May Your compassion come to me

(23:39):
so that I may live, for your instruction is my delight.
Let the arrogant be put to shamefor slandering me with lies.
I will meditate on your precepts.
Let those who fear you, those who know your decrees, turn to
me. May my heart be blameless
regarding your statutes, so thatI will not be put to shame.

(24:04):
I long for your salvation. I put my hope and your word.
My eyes grow weary, looking for what you have promised.
I ask, when will you come for me?
Though I have become like a wineskin dried by smoke, I do
not forget your statutes. How many days must your servant

(24:26):
wait? When will you execute judgment
on my persecutors? They, arrogant have dug pits for
me. They violate your instruction.
All your commands are true. People persecute me with lies.
Help me. They almost ended my life on

(24:46):
earth. But I did not abandon your
precepts. Give me life in accordance with
Your faithful love, and that will obey the decree you have
spoken. Lord, your word is forever, is
firmly fixed in heaven. Your faithfulness is for all
generations. You establish the earth, and it

(25:10):
stands firm. They stand today in accordance
with Your judgments, for all things are Your servants.
If your instruction had not beenmy delight, I would have died in
my affliction. I will never forget Your
precepts, for you have given me life through them.

(25:30):
I am yours. Save me, for I have sought your
precepts. The wicked hope to destroy me,
but I contemplate your decrees. I have seen a limit to all
perfection, but your commands without limit.
How I love your instruction. It is my meditation all day

(25:53):
long. Your commands make me wiser than
my enemies, for they are always with me.
I have more insight than all my teachers because Your decrees
are my meditation. I understand more than the
elders because I obey your precepts.

(26:14):
I have kept my feet from every evil path to follow Your word.
I have not turned from Your judgments, for You yourself have
instructed me how sweet Your word is to my taste, sweeter
than honey in my mouth. I gain understanding from Your
precepts. Therefore I hate every false

(26:35):
way. Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path. I have solemnly sworn to keep
Your righteous judgments. I am severely afflicted.
Lord, give me life through Your word.
Lord, please accept my willing offerings of praise and teach me

(26:56):
Your judgments. My life is constantly in danger,
yet I do not forget Your instruction.
The wicked have set a trap for me, but I have not wandered from
Your precepts. I have Your decrees as a
heritage forever. Indeed, they are the joy of my
heart. I am resolved to obey Your

(27:18):
statues to the very end. I hate those who are double
minded, but I love your instruction.
You are my shelter and my shield.
I put my hope in your word. Depart from me, you evil ones,
so that I may obey my God's commands.

(27:39):
Sustain me as you promised, and I will live.
And all that may be ashamed of my hope.
Sustain me so that I can be safeand always be concerned about
your statutes. You reject all who stray from
your statutes, for their deceit is a lie.
You were moved all the weekend on earth as if they were dross.

(28:03):
Therefore, I love your decrees. I tremble in all of you.
I fear your judgments. I have done what is just and
right. Do not leave me to my
oppressors. Guarantee Your servant's
well-being. Do not let the arrogant oppress
me. My eyes grow weary, looking for

(28:25):
Your salvation and for Your righteous promise.
Deal with Your servant based on Your faithful love.
Teach me your statutes. I am your servant.
Give me understanding so that I may know Your decrees.
It is time for the Lord to act, for they have violated your

(28:45):
instruction. Since I love your commands more
than gold, even the purest gold,I carefully follow all your
precepts and hate every false way.
Your decrees are wonderful, therefore I obey them.
The revelation of your words brings light and gives

(29:06):
understanding to the inexperienced.
I open my mouth and pant becauseI long for Your commands.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is Your practice towards
those who love Your name. Make my steps steady through
Your promise. Don't let any sin dominate me.

(29:27):
Redeem me from human oppression and I will keep Your precepts.
Show favor to Your servant and teach me Your statutes.
My eyes pour out streams of tears because people do not
follow Your instruction. You are righteous, Lord, and
Your judgments are just. The decrees You issue are

(29:49):
righteous and all together trustworthy.
My anger overwhelms me because my foes forget Your words.
Your word is completely pure, and Your servant loves it.
I am insignificant and despised, but I do not forget Your
precepts. Your righteousness is an
everlasting righteousness, and Your instruction is true.

(30:14):
Trouble and distress have ever taken me, but Your commands are
my delight. Your decrees are righteous
forever. Give me understanding and I will
live. I call with all my heart.
Answer me, Lord, I will obey your statutes.
I will call to you. Save me, and I will keep your

(30:35):
decrees. I rise before dawn and cry out
for help. I put my hope in your word.
I am awake through each watch ofthe night to meditate on Your
promise in keeping with your faithful love.
Hear my voice, Lord, Give me life in keeping with Your

(30:56):
justice. Those who pursue evil plans come
near. They are far from Your
instruction. You are near, Lord, and all Your
commands are true. Long ago I learned from your
decrees that You have established them forever.
Consider my affliction and rescue me, for I have not

(31:18):
forgotten your instruction. Defend my cause and redeem me.
Give me life as you promised. Salvation is far from the wicked
because they do not seek your statutes.
Your compassions are many. Lord, give me life according to
Your judgments. My persecutors and foes are

(31:41):
many. I have not turned from Your
decrees. I have seen the disloyal and
feel disgust because they do notkeep Your word.
Consider how I love your precepts.
Lord, give me life according to Your faithful love.
The entirety of Your word is truth, and all Your righteous

(32:02):
judgments endure forever. Princess have persecuted me
without cause, but my heart fears only your word.
I rejoiced over your promise like one who finds vast
treasure. I hate in a poor falsehood, but
I love your instruction. I praise you 7 times a day for

(32:23):
your righteous judgement. Abundant peace belongs to those
who love your instruction. Nothing makes them stumble.
Lord, I hope for Your salvation and carry out Your commands.
I obey Your decrees and love them greatly.
I obey Your precepts and decrees, for all my ways are

(32:45):
before You. Let my cry reach You.
Lord, give me understanding to Your word.
Let my plea reach You. Rescue me according to Your
promise. My lips pour out praise for You.
Teach me Your statutes. My tongue sings about Your
promise, for all Your commands are righteous.

(33:08):
May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your
precepts. I long for your salvation, Lord,
and your instruction is my delight.
Let me live, and I will praise you.
May your judgments help me. I wander like I'd lost sheep.

(33:28):
Seek your salvation, for I do not forget your commands.
Psalms 120 In my distress I called the Lord and he answered

(33:50):
me. Lord deliver me from lying lips
and a deceitful tongue. What will he give you, and what
will he do to you, you deceitfultongue?
A warrior, Sharp arrows with burning charcoal.
A misery that I have stayed in Meshach, that I lived among the
tents of Kedar. I have lived too long with those

(34:14):
who hate peace. I am for peace, but when I
speak, they are for war. Psalms 121I lift my eyes toward

(34:37):
the mountains. Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, theMaker of heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip.
Your protector will not slumber.Indeed, the protector of Israel
does not slumber or sleep. The Lord protects you.
The Lord is a shelter right by your side.

(35:01):
The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all harm.
He will protect your life. The Lord will protect your
coming and going, both now and forever.

(35:30):
Psalms 123A Song of Ascents, I lift my eyes to you, the 1
enthroned in heaven. Like a servant's eyes on his
master's hand, like a servant girl's eyes on her mistress's
hand. So our eyes are on the Lord our
God until He shows us favor. Show us favor, Lord, show us

(35:53):
favor, For we've had more than enough contempt.
We've had more than enough scornfrom the arrogant and contempt
from the proud. Psalms 124A todidic song of a

(36:18):
sense. If the Lord had not been on our
side, let Israel say, if the Lord had not been on our side
when men attacked us, then they would have swallowed us alive
and they're burning anger against us.
Then the waters would have engulfed us.
The torrent would have swept over us.

(36:39):
The raging waters would have swept over us.
Praise the Lord who has not let us be ripped apart by their
teeth. We have escaped like a bird from
the Hunter's nest. The net is torn and we have
escaped. Our help is in the name of
Yahweh, the Maker of heaven and earth.

(37:12):
Psalms 125A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the Lord are
like Mount Zion. It cannot be shaken.
It remains forever Jerusalem. The mountains surround her, and
the Lord surrounds His people both now and forever.

(37:33):
The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land
allotted to the righteous, so that the righteous will not
apply their hands to injustice. Do what is good, Lord to the
good to those whose hearts are upright.
But As for those who turn aside to crooked ways, the Lord will
banish them with the evil doers.Peace be with Israel.

(38:10):
Psalms 126. A song of a sense.
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like
those who dream. Our mouths were filled with
laughter, then in our tongues with shouts of joy.
Then they said among the nations, The Lord has done great

(38:30):
things for them, The Lord has done great things for us.
We were joyful. Restore our fortunes, Lord.
Like watercourses in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap
with shouts of joy. The one goes along weeping,
carrying the bag of seed. He will surely come back with

(38:51):
shouts of joy, carrying his sheep.
Psalms 127A Salamic Song of Ascent Unless the Lord builds a

(39:16):
house, its builders labor over it.
In vain. Unless the Lord watches over the
city, a watchman stays alert. In vain, in vain you get up
early and stay up late, working hard to have enough food.
Yes, he gives sleep to the one he loves.
Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord.

(39:38):
Children are reward like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
Are the sons born in one's youth.
Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them.
Such men will never be put to shame when they speak with their
enemies of the gate. Psalms 128A Song of a Sense How

(40:14):
happy is everyone who fears the Lord who walks in his ways.
You will surely eat what your hands have worked for.
You will be happy and it will gowell for you.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house,
Your sons like olive trees around your table.
In this very way, a man who fears the Lord will be blessed.

(40:38):
May the Lord bless you from Zionso you will see the prosperity
of Jerusalem all the days of your life and will see your
children's children peace with Israel.

(41:04):
And now we pray a prayer from Harriet Beecher Stowe, a 19th
century author. When winds are raging, or the
upper ocean and billows wild contend with angry war, Tis
said, Far down beneath the wild commotion, the peaceful

(41:24):
stillness reigneth evermore. O rest of rest, O peace serene
eternal, thou ever livest, and thou changes never.
And in the secret of thy presence dwelleth fullness of
joy forever and ever. Amen.
