In this reflective and calming episode of Abide and Slumber, we complete Book 4 of the Psalms and move into the next chapter of sacred poetry. We begin by reading Psalms 99–109, a tapestry of praise, lament, and hope, and then pause to look back over the comforting themes and truths woven throughout Book 4 (Psalms 90–106).

These final psalms of Book 4 remind us of God’s holiness, eternal reign, and faithfulness through every generation. Psalm 99 declares the Lord as exalted and holy; Psalm 100 invites us to joyful thanksgiving; and Psalm 103 offers tender reminders of God’s compassion and mercy. As we journey into Psalm 107 and beyond, we carry these truths with us: God is enthroned forever, He forgives and redeems, and His steadfast love endures.

Perfect for nighttime reflection, prayerful meditation, or simply finding a quiet space to rest your heart, this episode helps you remember that even in the wilderness, God remains our dwelling place.

Let these words quiet your thoughts, lift your spirit, and gently guide you into restful sleep.

(00:05):
Welcome to abide in slumber, where we rest in His Word and
sleep in His peace. This is your time to unwind, to
let go, and to enter into God's presence with stillness and

(00:26):
trust. Before we begin tonight's
scripture meditation, let's takea moment to quiet our hearts
using the rhythm of prey. Pause, reflect, ask and yield.

(00:49):
Pause. Take a deep breath in and slowly
exhale. Release the weight of the day.
Let your body soften, your mind quiet, and your spirit rest in

(01:11):
His presence. Reflect.
Consider God's faithfulness today.
Where did you see His goodness? What small moments of grace can

(01:33):
you hold on to as you rest? Ask.
Whisper a prayer to God, whetherfor peace, comfort, or simply
the ability to let go and trust Him as you sleep.

(02:01):
Yield now, surrender, release control.
Know that you are held, loved and watched over by the One who
never sleeps. Father, comfort us now as we

(02:31):
drift into sleep. Calm our hearts, our minds, our
bodies, and our spirits as we meditate on Your Word tonight.
Give us deep rest so we can wakeup tomorrow.

(02:52):
Refresh and ready to glorify youin all that we do.
Let's now rest in His word together as we journey through
Psalms. Psalms 99 The Lord reigns, Let

(03:30):
the peoples tremble. He is enthroned above the
cherubim. Let the earth quake.
Yahweh is great in Zion. He is exalted above all the
peoples. Let them praise your great and
awe inspiring name. He is holy.

(03:53):
The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness.
You have administered justice and righteousness.
And Jacob exalt the Lord our God.
Bow and worship at his footstool.
He is holy. Moses and Aaron were among his

(04:15):
priests. Samuel also was among those who
calling on his name, they calledto Yahweh and He answered them.
He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud.
They kept His decrees and the statutes he gave them.

(04:37):
Lord our God, you answered them. You are a forgiving God to them,
an avenger of their sinful actions.
Exalt the Lord our God, bow and worship at His holy mountain,
for the Lord our God is holy. Psalms 100 Shout triumphantly to

(05:12):
the Lord all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness,
come before Him with joyful songs.
Acknowledge that Yahweh is God. He made us and we are His.
His people, the sheep of His pasture, enter His gates with

(05:33):
Thanksgiving and His courts withpraise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name for Yahweh is good and
His love is eternal. His faithfulness endures through
all generations. Psalms 101 A Davidic Psalm I

(06:09):
will sing a faithful love and justice.
I will sing praise to you, Lord.I will pay attention to the way
of integrity. When will you come to me?
I will live with a heart of integrity in my house.
I will not set anything worthless before my eyes.

(06:31):
I hate the practice of transgression.
It will not cling to me. A devious heart will be far from
me. I will not be involved with
evil. I will destroy anyone who
secretly slanders his neighbor. I cannot tolerate anyone with
haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.

(06:54):
My eyes favor the faithful of the land so that they may sit
down with me. The one who follows the way of
integrity may serve me. No one who acts deceitfully will
live in my palace. No one who tells lies will
remain in My presence. Every morning I will destroy all

(07:16):
the wicked of the land, eliminating all evildoers from
the Lord's city. Psalms 102 Lord, hear my prayer.

(07:42):
Let my cry for help come before you.
Do not hide your face for me in my day of trouble.
Listen closely to me. Answer me quickly when I call.
For my days vanish like smoke and my bones burn like a
furnace. My heart is afflicted, withered

(08:08):
like grass. I even forget to eat my food
because of the sound of my groaning.
My flesh sticks to my bones. I am like a desert owl.
Like an owl among the ruins, I stay awake.
I am a solitary bird on a roof. My enemies taunt me all day

(08:32):
long. They ridicule and curse me.
I eat ashes like bread and mingle my drinks with tears
because of your indignation and wrath.
For you have picked me up and thrown me aside.
My days are like a lengthening shadow, and I wither away like

(08:53):
grass. But you, Lord, are enthroned
forever. Your fame endures to all
generations. You will rise up and have
compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her.
The appointed time has come for your servants.

(09:15):
Take delight in its stones and favor its dust.
Then the nations will fear the name of Yahweh and all the kings
of the earth Your glory, For theLord will rebuild Zion.
He will appear in His glory. He will pay attention to the
prayer of the destitute, and He will not despise their prayer.

(09:39):
This will be written for a latergeneration, and a newly created
people will praise the Lord. He looked down from His holy
heights. The Lord gazed out from heaven
to earth to hear a prisoner's groaning.
To set free those condemned to die, so that they might declare

(10:02):
the name of Yahweh in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem.
When peoples and kingdoms are assembled to serve the Lord.
He has broken my strength in midcourse.
He has shortened my days. I say, My God, do not take me in

(10:23):
the middle of my life. Your years continue through all
generations. Long ago you established the
earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will endure.
All of them will wear out like clothing, You will change them

(10:43):
like a garment, and they will pass away.
But you are the same, and your years will never end.
Your servants, children will dwell securely, and their
offspring will be established before you.

(11:11):
Psalms 103 Davidic My soul, praise Yahweh and all that is
within me. Praise His holy name.
My soul, praise the Lord and do not forget all His benefits.
He forgives all your sin. He heals all your diseases.

(11:35):
He redeems your life from the pit.
He crowns you with faithful loveand compassion.
He satisfies you with goodness. Your youth is renewed.
Like the eagle, the Lord executes acts of righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

(11:57):
He revealed His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of
Israel. The Lord is compassionate and
gracious, slow to anger, and rich in faithful love.
He will not always accuse us or be angry forever.

(12:18):
He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve or repaid us
according to our offenses. For as high as the heavens are
above the earth, so great is Hisfaithful love toward those who
fear Him as far as the East is from the West, so far has He

(12:39):
removed our transgressions from us.
As a Father has compassion on His children, so the Lord has
compassion on those who fear Him, for He knows what we are
made of, remembering that we aredust.
As for man, his days are like grass.

(13:01):
He blooms like a flower of the field.
When the wind passes over it, itvanishes and its place is no
longer known. But from eternity to eternity,
the Lord's faithful love is toward those who fear Him, and
His righteousness toward the grandchildren of those who keep

(13:23):
His covenant, who remember to observe His precepts.
The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His
Kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, all His angels
of great strength, who do His word obedient to His command.

(13:45):
Praise the Lord, all his armies,His servants who do His will.
Praise the Lord, all His works in all the places where He
rules. My soul, praise Yahweh.

(14:12):
Psalms 104 my soul praise Yahweh.
Lord my God, you are very great. You are clothed with majesty and
splendor. He wraps himself in light as if
it were a robe spreading out thesky like a canopy, laying the

(14:33):
beams of his palace on the waters above, making the clouds
his chariot, walking on the wings of the wind and making the
winds his messengers, flames of fire, His servants, He
established the earth on its foundations.
It will never be shaken. You covered it with the deep as

(14:56):
if it were a garment. The waters stood above the
mountains. At your rebuke the waters fled.
At the sound of your Thunder they hurried away.
Mountains rose and valleys sank to the place you established for
them. You set a boundary they cannot

(15:17):
cross. They will never cover the earth
again. He causes the springs to gush
into the valleys. They flow between the mountains.
They supply water for every wildbeast.
The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live besidethe springs.

(15:40):
They sing among the foliage. He waters the mountains from his
palace. The earth is satisfied by the
fruit of your labor. He causes grass to grow for
livestock and provides crops forman to cultivate, producing food
from the earth, wine that makes man's heart glad, making his

(16:06):
face shine with oil and bread that sustains man's heart.
The trees of the Lord flourish the Cedars of Lebanon that he
planted. There are birds that make their
nests. The stork makes its home in the
pine trees. The high mountains are for the

(16:26):
wild goats. The cliffs are the refuge for
the hyraxes. He made the moon to mark the
festivals. The sun knows when to set.
You bring darkness and it becomes night when all the
forest animals stir. The Young Lions roar for their

(16:49):
prey and seek their food from God.
The sun rises. They go back and lie down in
their dens. Man goes out to his work and to
his labor until evening. How countless are your works.
Lord. In wisdom you have made them
all. The earth is full of your

(17:11):
creatures. Here is the sea, vast and wide,
teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both large
and small. There the ships move about and
leviathan, which you form to play.
There all of them wait for you to give them their food at the

(17:31):
right time. When you give it to them, they
gather it. When you open your hand, they
are satisfied with good things. When you hide your face, they
are terrified. When you take away their breath,
they die and return to the dust. When you send your breath, they

(17:52):
are created and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the Lord endureforever.
May the Lord rejoice in His works.
He looks at the earth and it trembles.
He touches the mountains and they pour out smoke.
I will sing to the Lord all my life.

(18:15):
I will sing praise to my God where I live.
May my meditation be pleasing toHim.
I will rejoice in the Lord. May sinners vanish from the
earth and wicked people be no more.
My soul praise Yahweh. Hallelujah.

(18:48):
Psalms 105 Give thanks to Yahweh, Call on His name,
Proclaim His deeds among the peoples, Sing to Him, Sing
praise to Him. Tell about all His wonderful
works. Honor His holy name.

(19:09):
Let the hearts of those who seekYahweh rejoice.
Search for the Lord and for His strength.
Seek His face. Always remember the wonderful
works He has done, His wonders and the judgments He has
pronounced you. Offspring of Abraham, His
servant, Jacob's descendants, His chosen ones.

(19:33):
He is the Lord our God, His judgments covering the whole
earth. He remembers His covenant
forever, the promise He ordainedfor 1000 generations, the
covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac and confirmed to
Jacob as a decree, and Israel asan everlasting covenant.

(19:57):
I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited
portion. When they were few in number,
very few indeed, and temporary residents in Canaan wandering
from nation to nation. And from one Kingdom to another,
He allowed no one to oppress them.

(20:18):
He rebuked kings on their behalf.
Do not touch my anointed ones orharm my prophets.
He called down famine against the land and destroyed the
entire food supply. He had sent a man ahead of them,
Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with

(20:41):
shackles. His neck was put in an iron
collar until the time his prediction came true.
The word the Lord tested him. The king sent for him and
released him. The ruler of people set him
free. He made him master of his
household, ruler over all his possessions, finding his

(21:06):
officials at will and instructing his elders.
Then Israel went to Egypt. Jacob lived as a foreigner in
the land of Ham. The Lord made his people very
fruitful. He made them more numerous than
their foes, whose hearts he turned to hate his people and to

(21:27):
deals deceptively with his servants.
He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They performed his miraculous signs among them and wonders in
the land of Ham. He sent darkness, and it became
dark, for did they not defy his commands?

(21:48):
He turned their water into bloodand caused their fish to die.
Their land was overrun with frogs.
Even in their royal chambers He spoke and insects came, gnats
throughout their country. He gave them a hail for rain and
lightning throughout their land.He struck their vines and fig

(22:09):
trees and shattered the trees oftheir territory.
He spoke, and locusts came, young locusts without number.
They devoured all the vegetationin their land and consumed the
produce of their land. He struck all the first born in
their land, all their first progeny.

(22:31):
Then He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one
among his tribes stumbled. Egypt was glad when they left,
for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
He spread a cloud as a covering, and gave a fire to light up the
night. They asked, and he brought quail

(22:52):
and satisfied them with bread from heaven.
He opened a rock, and water gushed out.
It flowed like a stream in the desert, for he remembered his
holy promise to Abraham his servant.
He brought his people out with rejoicing, his chosen ones with
shouts of joy. He gave them the lands of the

(23:15):
nations, and they inherited whatother peoples had worked for.
All this happened so that they might keep his statues and obey
his instructions. Hallelujah.

(23:43):
Psalms 106 Hallelujah, Give thanks to the Lord, for he is
good. His faithful love endures
forever. Who can declare the Lord's
mighty acts or proclaim all the praise do him?
How happy are those who uphold justice, who practice

(24:05):
righteousness at all times? Remember Me, Lord, when you show
favor to your people. Come to me with your salvation
so that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones.
Rejoice in the light of your nation and boast about your
heritage. Both we and our fathers have

(24:26):
sinned who have done wrong and have acted wickedly.
Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp the significance of your
wonderful works or remember yourmany acts of faithful love.
Instead they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.
Yet he saved them because of hisname.

(24:47):
To make his power known. He rebuked the Red Sea in a
dried up. He led them through the depths
as through a desert. He saved them from the hand of
the adversary. He redeemed them from the hand
of the enemy. Water covered their foes.
Not one of them remained, and they believed His promises, and

(25:10):
saying His praise, they soon forgot His works and would not
wait for His counsel. They were seized with craving in
the wilderness and tested God inthe desert.
He gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease
among them in the camp. They were envious of Moses and

(25:33):
of Aaron, the Lord's Holy One. The earth opened up and
swallowed Danton. It covered the assembly of
Abraham. Fire blaze throughout their
assembly. Flames consumed the wicked had
horrib. They made a calf and worshipped
the cast metal image and worshipped the cast metal image.

(25:58):
They exchanged their glory for the image of a grass eating ox.
They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,
wonderful works in the land of Ham, all inspiring acts of the
Red Sea. So he said He would have
destroyed them if Moses, his chosen one, had not stood before

(26:20):
him in the breach to turn his wrath away from destroying them.
They despised the pleasant land and did not believe His promise.
They grumbled in their tents anddid not listen to the Lord's
voice, so he raised his hand against them with an oath that

(26:40):
he would make them fall in the desert and would disperse their
descendants among the nations, scattering them throughout the
lands. They aligned themselves with
bail of pure and eight sacrifices offered to the
lifeless gods. They provoked the Lord with
their deeds, and a plague broke out against them.

(27:03):
But Phineas stood up and intervened, and the plague
stopped. He was credited to him as
righteousness throughout all generations to come.
They angered the Lord at the waters of Meribah, and Moses
suffered because of them, for they embittered His spirit and
He spoke rashly with his lips. They did not destroy the peoples

(27:27):
as the Lord had commanded them, but mingled with the nations and
adopted their ways. They served their idols, which
became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and
daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the
blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed
to the idols of Canaan. So the land became polluted with

(27:50):
blood. They defiled themselves by their
actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds.
Therefore, the Lord's anger burned against his people, and
he abhorred his own inheritance. He handed them over to the
nations. Those who hated them ruled them,

(28:10):
their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under
their power. He rescued them many times, but
they continued to rebel deliberately and were beaten
down by their sin. When He heard their cry, He took
note of their distress, remembered His covenant with
them, and relented according to the riches of His faithful love.

(28:37):
He caused them to be pitied before all their captors.
Save us Yahweh, our God, and gather us from the nations so
that we may give thanks to Your holy name and rejoice in Your
praise. May Yahweh, the God of Israel,
be praised from everlasting to everlasting.

(28:57):
Let all the people say Amen. Hallelujah.
As we bring Book Four of the Psalms to a close, let's reflect

(29:20):
and remember these sacred words. In them we find comfort in
life's brevity and deep peace inGod's eternity.
Book 4 begins with the prayer ofMoses, the oldest Psalm of them
all. Lord, you have been our dwelling

(29:41):
place throughout all generations.
Psalms 90, verse one. It reminds us our days are
fleeting like grass that Withersby evening, yet God remains our
eternal home. Teach us to number our days that
we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90, verse 12.

(30:08):
Then comes Psalm 91-A promise whispered to our fearful hearts.
Whoever dwells in the shelter ofthe Most High will rest in the
shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91.1.
A sum of refuge for nights when we feel most exposed.

(30:30):
Book 4 bursts into song, declaring God's reign.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad.
Psalm 97.1. For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods. Psalm 95, verse 3.
Even as kingdoms rise and fall, God's throne is from everlasting

(30:53):
to everlasting. And then comes the tender praise
of David in Psalm 103. Bless the Lord, O my soul,
forget not all his benefits. Forgives all your sins, and
heals all your diseases. Psalms One O 3 verses 2 and 3.

(31:16):
He remembers that we are dust, yet His compassion is higher
than the heavens above the earth.
From everlasting to everlasting. The Lord's love is with those
who fear Him. Some 103 verse 17.
The Psalms paint creation itselfas a hymn.

(31:40):
How many are your works, Lord? In wisdom you made them all.
Psalms 104, verse 24. And they remember God's
faithfulness to His people, remember the wonders He has
done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced.

(32:01):
Psalms 105, verse 5. Book 4 of the Psalms reminds us
of something simple yet profound.
Life is short, God is eternal. Nations tremble, but His throne
stands firm. We are fragile as dust, but his

(32:22):
mercy endures forever. So tonight may you find rest the
shelter of the Most High. May your soul remember His
benefits, and may His steadfast love carry you from everlasting
to everlasting. Amen.

(32:55):
Book 5, Psalms 107 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His faithful love endures forever.
Let the redeemed the Lord proclaim that He has redeemed
them from the hand of the foe, and has gathered them from the

(33:17):
lands, from the east and the West, from the north and the
South. Some wandered in the desolate
wilderness, finding no way to a city where they could live.
They were hungry and thirsty. Their spirits failed within

(33:37):
them. Then they cried out to the Lord
in their trouble. He rescued them from their
distress. He led them by the right path to
go to a city where they could live.
Let them give thanks to the Lordfor his faithful love and His
wonderful works for all humanity.

(34:01):
For he has satisfied the thirstyand filled the hungry with good
things. Others sat in darkness and
gloom, prisoners in cruel chainsbecause they rebelled against
God's commands and despise the counsel of the Most High.
He broke their spirits with hardlabor.

(34:22):
They stumbled and there was no one to help, and they cried out
to the Lord in their trouble. He saved them from their
distress. He brought them out of darkness
and gloom and broke their chainsapart.
Let them give thanks to the Lordfor His faithful love and His
wonderful works for all humanity, For He has broken down

(34:48):
the bronze gates and cut throughthe iron bars.
Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways
and their sins. They loathed all food and came
near the gates of death, and they cried out to the Lord in
their trouble. He saved them from their
distress. He sent His word and healed

(35:08):
them. He rescued them from the pit.
Let them give thanks to the Lordfor His faithful love and His
wonderful works for all humanity.
Let them off for sacrifices of Thanksgiving and announce His
works with shouts of joy. Others went to sea in ships,

(35:32):
conducting trade on the vast waters.
They saw the Lord's works, His wonderful works in the deep.
He spoke and raised a Tempest that stirred up the waves of the
sea, rising up to the sky, sinking down in the depths,
their courage melting away in anguish.

(35:53):
They reeled and staggered like drunken men, and all their skill
was useless. And they cried out to the Lord
in their trouble, and He broughtthem out of their distress.
He stilled to storm to a murmur, and the waves of the sea were
hushed. They rejoiced when the waves
grew quiet. Then he guided them to the then

(36:18):
he guided them to the harbor they longed for.
Let them give thanks to the Lordfor His fateful love and His
wonderful works for all humanity.
Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and
praise Him in the counsel of theelders.
He turns rivers into desert, springs of water into thirsty

(36:39):
ground, and fruitful land into salty wasteland because of the
wickedness of its inhabitants. He turned the desert into a pool
of water, dry land into springs of water.
He causes the hungry to settle there, and they established a
city where they can live. They sow fields and plant

(37:04):
vineyards that yield A fruitful harvest.
He blesses them and they multiply greatly.
He does not let their livestock decrease when they are
diminished and are humbled by cruel oppression and sorrow.
He pours contempt on nobles, makes them wander in a trackless

(37:25):
wasteland, but he lifts the needy out of their suffering and
makes their families multiply like flocks.
The uprights see it and rejoice, and all injustice shuts its
mouth. Let whoever is wise pay
attention to these things and consider the Lord's acts of

(37:48):
faithful love. Psalms 108, A Davidic Psalm.

(38:09):
My heart is confident, God, I will sing.
I will sing praises with the whole of my being.
Wake up harp and lyre, I will wake up the dawn.
I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples.
I will sing praises to you amongthe nations.
For your faithful love is higherthan the heavens, and your

(38:30):
faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
God be exalted above the heavensand let your glory be over the
whole earth. Save with your right hand and
answer me so that those you lovemay be rescued.
God has spoken in his sanctuary.I will triumph.

(38:51):
I will divide up Shechem. I will apportion the valley of
Sakath. Elite is mine.
Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim ismy helmet.
Judah is my scepter. Moab is my wash basin.
I throw my sandal on a Dom. I shout in triumph over
Philistia, who will bring me to the fortified city?

(39:14):
Who will lead me to adopt God. Haven't you rejected us, God?
You do not March out with our armies.
Give us aid against the foe, forhuman help is worthless.
With God we will perform valiantly.
He will trample our foes. Psalms 109A Davidic Psalm God of

(39:51):
my praise, do not be silent, forwicked and deceitful mouths open
against me. They speak against me with lying
tongues. They surround you with hateful
words and attack me without cause.
In return for my love they accused me, but I continue to
pray they repay me. Evil for good and hatred for my

(40:15):
love. Set a wicked person over him.
Let an accuser stand at his right hand.
When he is judged, let him be found guilty and let his prayer
be counted as sin. Let his days be few.
Let another take over his position.
Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.

(40:39):
Let his children wander as beggars searching for food far
from their demolished homes. Let a creditor sees all he has.
Let strangers plunder what he has worked for.
Let no one show him kindness, and let no one be gracious to
his fatherless children. Let the line of his descendants

(41:00):
be cut off. Let their name be blotted out in
the next generation. Let his ancestors guilt be
remembered before the Lord, and do not let his mother's sin be
blotted out. Let their sins always remain
before the Lord, and let him erase all memory of them from
the earth. For he did not think to show

(41:20):
kindness, but pursued the afflicted, poor and broken
hearted in order to put them to death.
He loved cursing, Let it fall onhim.
He took no delight and blessing.Let it be far from him.
He wore cursing like his coat. Let it enter his body like water

(41:42):
and go into his bones like oil. Let it be like a robe he wraps
around himself, like a belt he always wears.
Let this be the Lord's payment to my accusers, to those who
speak evil against me. But you, Yahweh, my Lord, deal
kindly with me because of Your name.

(42:04):
Deliver me because of the goodness of Your faithful love,
For I am afflicted and needy. My heart is wounded within me.
I fade away like a lengthening shadow.
I'm shaken off like a locust. My knees are weak from fasting
and my body is emaciated. I have become an object of

(42:26):
ridicule to my accusers. When they see me, they shake
their heads and scorn. Help me, Lord, my God, save me
from according to your faithful love, so that you may know this
is your hand and that you, Lord, have done it.
Though they curse, you will bless.

(42:47):
When they rise up, they will be put to shame, but your servant
