Addiction to Purpose with Riches in Recovery

Addiction to Purpose with Riches in Recovery

The purpose of this podcast, channel and the supporting pages is to talk about addiction openly and unabashedly in all its forms. Drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex, food, social media, shopping and so on. We will share and explore experiences, practices, suggestions, and possible solutions with our guests. It is our hope that listeners who are interested in a solution to their personal battle with addiction will be inspired to seek the help they so desperately need in the form they deem appropriate. The content is meant for entertainment as we are not licensed counselors, therapists, or physicians. Rich and I are just fellow addicts sharing thoughts and experiences with guests that are likely more qualified than ourselves.

Rich and I wanted to talk about some of the struggles and successes we had both before and after sobriety when it comes to the money side of things. Many of us run the wheels off when we are in our addiction and find ourselves in a precarious position financially in early sobriety. The good news is that things get better, and they usually start to get better pretty quickly once you begin to bring order back into your ...

My good friend Troy came by to talk about his program and how Stoicism and the wise words from a couple thousand years ago still apply to our lives today. Troy is sober from substances, but identifies his real battle as recovering his emotional sobriety. Something that I know I can relate with and I would guess that many others out there would as well. It was a fun and engaging conversation and we would love for you t...

This was a really fun and informative show for us. James has done and learned a lot over his thirty years clean. In this episode we learned about connecting Neuro-Linguistic Programming with Hypnotherapy and Meditation. Combining meditation with sound, binaural beats, and isochronic tones. Then capped it off with James speaking passionately to his work in bringing the fun of karaoke to folks that are not able to get o...

Though this discussion may seem a little lighthearted at times, I can assure you that we both take the topic very seriously. We both have keen awareness of the fact that we are battling eating disorders in addition to substance abuse disorder. That neither is an illness to be taken lightly as both endanger the longevity and overall quality of your life. Tune in to our discussion on our personal battles, how we went fo...

Just the Riches having a chat with no guests this week. Talking about the experience of walking away from the old you. What was difficult about it and what was a blessing. It seems that many of us reflect on some good times and bad times, but I had some serious connections both personally and professionally to the “old me” that really created some obstacles to my sobriety over the last few years. It took me getting ri...

In this episode we spend an hour discussing prayer. What it looks like in our lives. Some of the things that we get out of it. Why we think it is important. And some tips for those that may just be starting out. For me this was a tough subject when I first approached sobriety. I thought I had walked away from having God or a Higher Power in my life. So, when I was told that I needed to have that again and that I neede...
