(00:00):
Hello, this is John.
I'm Joe.
And this is our first Episode ofour podcast that we've been
talking about doing since lastChristmas.
So here we are, we got all ofour equipment.
We're not sure we know how touse it.
We've done a lot of YouTubes anda lot of searching for the right
digital equipment to use anddownload it so we can get it to
(00:24):
things like Spotify and Apple.
So we'll see if this works.
So Joe, tell us about ourselves.
You can be first.
Well, I was born in Pennsylvaniaborn and raised in Pennsylvania.
Then I moved to Florida, lost myhusband in Florida.
And worked for a company namedSiemens and through a sympathy
(00:47):
card from John I, we became penpals and that led to phone calls
and then, mysteriously, he cameto classes at or new, new
products that we were financingand he took me out for dinner
and.
(01:07):
Then the rest of history.
He was a good dinner.
We then I married him, went tolive in Chicago.
Can you imagine moving from BocaRaton, Florida to Chicago?
we lived there for ten years andI said take me south.
And we moved from Hilton,Bluffton, South Carolina, which
(01:28):
is part of Hilton Head.
John being retired wasconstantly following me.
I said, you need to get a life.
So he went to work forEnterprise, rent a car.
One of the assignments he hadwas to go to Augusta, Georgia,
(01:48):
where the Augusta National GolfTournament was, to pick up
players.
when he did that, he wentthrough Aiken, South Carolina,
and kind of fell in love withit.
So, we visited there.
I too fell in love with it.
we decided to sell our house inBluffton, moved to Aiken, South
(02:10):
Carolina, we lived in a golfclub community, and while we
were there relatives fromPendergrass, Georgia, John's
sister and her children, came tovisit us John's sister was sick
and they said, we need yourhelp.
So we decided that we would comeover to Pendergrass, Georgia,
(02:33):
build a house and move closer tofamily.
And spent 12 years in thathouse.
then I got sick and John said, this house is too big for me.
So we now live in a 55 and overgated community.
I think I'm the oldest girl inthe community.
(02:55):
I was born in Springfield,Illinois, but raised in
Birmingham, Alabama.
I was in the Air Force, livedquite a few places, St.
Louis, Denver, Los Angeles and,Chicago for 10 years.
Taught Joe how to shovel snowwhich she knew how, but she
claimed she'd forgotten now weare in Beaufort Georgia where we
(03:20):
have a nice condo, a lot of niceneighbors and we have a lot of
activities.
Part of what we want to do withthis podcast is let you know
what we're doing.
maybe you can get some ideas.
Maybe you want to do some of thesame things.
Maybe you want to ask us how wegot these ideas.
we both have a lot ofactivities.
(03:43):
We belong to a life group atchurch, and we have many things
we do with that life group.
Communities, it's primarilycommunity service.
And then we play, I play Bunkowith the girls.
We play cards on Tuesday nightup at the clubhouse.
Then we have another group thatwe play cards with and we
(04:04):
alternate between houses.
That's once a month.
And we have a men's breakfastgroup once a month.
And we have Family breakfastonce a month.
It sounds like we do a lot oncea month.
And I'm on the architecturereview committee and that meets
guess what?
Once a month.
(04:26):

This is Super Bowl Sunday, bythe way, and we're just kind of
killing time waiting for thegame to start.
I probably don't know who you'refor and I'm not going to tell
you who we're for because wedon't want to get any, any
bricks thrown at us.
Joe, continue.
We both like football.
(04:46):

time for one game.
I was ejected because theydidn't like the way I made the
calls.

making sure it was all in goodorder.

lesson but she was afraid tocome to the airport because she
was afraid I might leave townand not Come back, but I did
come back what was your careerJohn?
What was my career?
I worked for RCA service companyIn what was then a beginning

field of data communicationsback in the late fifties and
worked in California.
Traveled eight states out there, transferred to Chicago, did all
the Midwest and Left from thereand went to work for Siemens
which is kind of a competitor.
Siemens closed that department Iwas in and I ended up being
(06:14):
transferred to the CreditCorporation, which I knew
nothing about, but I learned, and thankfully that's how Joe
and I met, I worked in theaccounting part of Siemens
Credit.
She used to look at my expensereports and wonder why I got to
car wars so many times inChicago.
(06:35):
I rejected a lot of his reports.
When we moved there, we foundout that indeed, with all the
salt and messy snow, you didhave to get your car wars.
So approved expenses.
Well, what else are we going totalk about?
Well, I thought we would talkabout some of the things we've
