Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, y'all, and welcome back. And I know everybody that's
been listening to this knows that I am from Charleston,
South Carolina, and that's what we're talking about today is Charleston,
South Carolina. So maybe I'm not the most you know,
specific expert about every little thing in Charleston, but I
do know a lot about the Charleston in Charleston area,
(00:22):
So I got a pretty good idea what I'm talking about.
I woke up yesterday morning and it was so nice outside.
It was like got up to like seventy six degrees,
not a cloud in the sky, and in Charleston, man,
that is just beautiful. I mean it was you talk
about spring fever. I mean, we had a ton of
(00:44):
stuff we needed to do, but guess what, My wife
and I sat outside pretty much all day. We went
on some walks, we walked to dogs. We just hung
tight and enjoy a little sun on the skin, had
a little wine or in the afternoon than usual. We
just had a great time and join a beautiful early
(01:05):
spring day in the winter. Wherever you want to call it.
It's March second or third, right now, let me look
at that. It's March second, So yesterday was March first.
What a day to start March. Today's a little bit cooler,
but nonetheless it's still been a really nice day. And
it's just got me all energized and ready for you know,
(01:26):
spring and summer, and it puts everybody, it seems, in
a better mood. Right, Suddenly some of you let go
of some of your anxiety. You have energy, you want
you stop the hibernation. You want to go out and
start talking to people and get excited. And everybody's in
a better mood, and there suddenly seems to be so
much more to do, you know. And it's just been
(01:47):
in like a couple of days. So spring fever's a
real thing, and it definitely ends the winter doldrums. Just
having a couple of days like what we've had here
just makes me ready. I'm ready to hit the beach,
I'm ready to hit the pool. I'm ready to just
do all the great things that you can do in
the spring, summer, and even in the fall in the
(02:09):
Charleston area. So Number one, I am so thrilled that
you were tuning in with me. We talked about my
favorite island in the whole world where we lived for
ten years and that was Sullivan's Island, and we had
a great talk about Sullivan's Island, and I realized that
some of the things that we had pulled up doing
(02:29):
research were incorrect, so I tried to correct those. So
it's amazing what you know. You try to you try
to do some research and things so you can get
a little bit more in detail about a place that
you know so well, and you find out that some
of the research just is off. Like taking a ferry
to Sullivan's Island that didn't get happen. I mean maybe
(02:50):
way way way way back in the day that was possibility.
Now there's a bridge, there's two bridges. You don't have
to take a ferry, right, I mean, if you want
to take your boat, you can certainly do that, but
there's no ferry it's going to take you from Mount
Pleasant to Sullivan's Island. But so today we're talking about
kind of like the sister island to Sullivan's and that
(03:12):
would be Ala Palms. So it's it's different. The whole
vibe is a little bit different, even though it's like
the bridge to Sullivan's from Sullivan's Island over Breach Inlet
to Olive Palms is probably a hundred feet two hundred
feet long. It's just different, and they're both awesome in
(03:32):
their own ways. So it is just a short bridge
across the inter Coastal Waterway or Breach Inlet that separates
Sullivan's Island from it's equally captivating neighbor, which is al
of Palms. While sharing the same low country charm Ola,
Palms offers a distinct personality, a more expansive and arguably
(03:55):
wilder beach experience, and that's kind of true. The drive
itself is the prelude to the island's beauty, with glimpses
of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean teasing you on your arrival. Parking,
while plentiful offering, requires a short walk to the beach
access points, a pleasant stroll that allows you to fully
(04:15):
appreciate the surrounding environment. Unlike Sullivan's Island, which possesses a
more concentrated village feel, on the Palms unfolds more gradually,
it's residential areas interspersed with stretches of pristine beachfront. This
gives the island a feeling of spaciousness, a sense of
escape that is truly liberating. The beaches of Isle of
(04:37):
Palms are legendary miles of unbroken sand stretch as far
as the eye can see, their fine texture of soft
beneath the bare feet. It's beautiful beach and it's pretty
white sand for South Carolina. It's just amazing. The ways,
while generally gentler than those on Sullivan's. And you know what,
(05:00):
I actually would go the other way around there. I
would say that Sullivan's, because of the jetties at the harbor,
has fewer waves and smaller waves than Al of Palms.
It wasn't always that way, but it is that way now.
They still offer a delightful rhythm for swimming body surfing,
and you can deal with a good bit of surfing
out on al of Palms. The wide expanse of beach
(05:22):
provides ample space for sunbathing, building elaborate sand castles, playing
beach volleyballer, simply losing yourself in the meditative rhythm of
the ocean's ebb and flow. Families flock to Al of Palms,

integral part of the Isle of Palms experience, enhancing the

overall sense of relaxation and enjoyment. You need to go
to Code Depeche, Code of Depeche, that is Italian seafood.

honest with you on iop and it has great views
overlooking the beach and the amazing great little bar scene too.
