(00:41):
finishing touch. So if it needs scrubbing, shining, or straightening up,
this is the place to be. This is All Things cleaning,
So let's get to work, all right, everybody, and welcome
Welcome to today's show on Cleaning Something, Cleaning everything. We
got something, we gonna get it clean. We're mainly talking

(01:02):
about cleaning your house, in and around your house, everything
in your house. I think we might even get to
how to clean your car later on, but right now,
we're sticking with the basics of cleaning your house. Last time,
we talked about finding your what would you call that
cleaning personality, So if you call that, everybody has a
cleaning personality. Sometimes you have a blend of two or

(01:24):
three like me. But it's kind of good to know
what your cleaning personality is because it probably a reflection
of your entire personality, the whole personality anyway. So we're
moving on from that, and we're going to head into
some essential cleaning supplies. I mean, this is definitely the
most interesting thing I've ever done in my life, but
it is important. That was sarcasm. Now it is important,

(01:47):
especially if you're going to be cleaning your own house,
or you're gonna be cleaning somebody else's house, or if
you have a cleaning company like we do, so the
essential cleaning supplies. So now that we've identified your unique
cleaning personality and embrace a more positive approach to tackling
household grime, it's time to equip ourselves with the right tools.

(02:09):
Think of this as not an overwhelming shopping spree, but
more like assembling a well curated arsenal, a cleaning dream team,
if you will. Ready to conquer any mess, big or small.
This isn't about acquiring every cleaning product under the sun.
In fact, quite the opposite. We'll focus on building a

(02:32):
core collection of essential supplies, emphasizing quality over quantity, and
smart choices that align with your budget and environmental conscious.
Let's start with the all important and oftentimes overlooked all
purpose cleaner. Forget the endless array of specialized products where

(02:53):
you think you feel like you need one hundred each
one promising miracles for every surface. Quality all purpose cleaner
diluted appropriately can tackle a surprisingly amount of dirt and grime.
Look for a formula that's effective but gentle, ideally one

(03:14):
that's plant based ingredients and a pleasant scent. Please have
a pleasant scent. I hate that pine salt nor a smell.
You know. That's just that just reminds me of going
into a bathroom when I was in elementary school and
I've never gotten past that. So it don't use that stuff,
but don't be afraid to experiment to find one that

(03:36):
works best for your home and your nose. Remember that
diluting your cleaner often means that it lasts longer and
is gentler on your surface. A little goes a long way.
You don't need it to be the strongest cleaner in
the world. You just need a little bit, to be
honest with you, and then you save a lot of money.

(03:59):
You're going to get the same benefit of cleaning, and
you know that's probably better for your surface too. It's
a little bit genter for your surface. Next up, and
this is one that people forget all the time or
just don't even really know about for some reason, but
microfiber claws, these unsung heroes of the cleaning world, are
infinitely superior to paper towels for both their effectiveness and

(04:23):
eco friendliness. Microfiber claus trap dirt and grime incredibly well,
leaving surfaces sparkling clean with minimal effort. Invest in a
variety of sizes and colors. I like to keep separate
claws for bathrooms, kitchens, and general cleaning to avoid cross contamination.
That's doing their job, and don't forget to laundry them

(04:46):
regularly using hot water to kill any lingering germs. This
will help them to retain their cleaning power longer. I
suggest if you have on your washing machine to sanitize,
button hit that sanitize and run it through there, it's
going to quickly become your most trusted cleaning companion. You know,

(05:07):
unless you work with your wife doing them cleaning, then
of course she would be my most trusted cleaning companion.
Microfibers close second. Speaking of eco friendly choices, consider switching
to reusable spray bottles for your cleaning solutions. This is
not only reduce as plastic waste, but it allows you

(05:28):
to control the concentration of your cleaning solutions precisely to
maximizing your effectiveness and longevity. Look for the glass with
a sturdy plastic bottle with a good spray mechanism. Listen,
I really think that the glass ones look so much better.
They're easier to take care of and carry it around

(05:51):
the plastic ones. For some reason, the plastic ones just
aren't very sturdy, and they always the spray mechanism always
seems to like stop mechanizing before the all the good
stuff is done, or have to replace, but use them
over and over so you can buy you know, a big,
a big container full of all purpose cleaner and then

(06:16):
you can take a couple of capfuls and put it
in your I would suggest using distilled water and fill
in the bottle the rest of the way and there
you go. That's all you need, and then that will
last you forever. It seems like. Now let's talk about scrubbing.
While micro fiber claws are fantastic for many surfaces, sometimes

(06:39):
you need a bit more power. A good quality sponge,
preferably one with a scrubby side and a softer side,
is an essential addition to your cleaning arsenal. I don't
know if you guys are familiar with the scrub daddies
and the scrub mamas. Those are two of my favorite things,
not for just washing dishes, but for cleaning things like tubs.

(07:03):
If you get all that soap scum on the bottom
of your glass shower door and glass cleaner won't touch it,
nothing really wants to touch it. Use a little dish
liquid with the scrub daddy, go over that really good,
rinse it, and then hit it with your glass cleaner.
It looks brand new, telling you I just did it

(07:24):
this morning. Avoid those cheap, flimsy sponges so I mean,
you know the ones I'm talking about, the ones you
can buy like two hundred for five dollars. Not worth it.
Don't do it. Don't waste your time. They disintegrate and
they start smelling bad really really quickly. If you put
them in the dishwasher to try to get them to

(07:44):
smell better and they just fall apart, gets you a
really nice sponge and they can actually last years if
you take care of them the right way. I'm not
saying that. You know, you're still not spending a fortune
all these things, but if you have something's gonna lie
a lot longer, it's a lot easier than having to
go to the store all the time, and a lot
of you just throw them in the dishwasher and they

(08:05):
will clean up just fine. For those truly stubborn messes,
a stiff bristled brush might be necessary. This is especially
useful for cleaning oven racks and other areas prone to
build up. Choose a brush with a comfortable handle and
bristles that are durable but not so stiff they scratch surfaces.
Remember to always check the manufacturer's recommendation recommendation for cleaning

(08:29):
specific surfaces because some materials are more sensitive than others.
Let's not forget the power of the humble bucket. Humble bucket.
I like that a sturdy bucket is indispensable for ringing
out your cleaning claws and soaking stubborn messes, and generally

(08:50):
keeping your cleaning supplies organized. I mean, I hate sometimes
when I've cleaned out the sink and then I realized
I've got to ring out my sponge or my claws
or a towel, whatever it may be, and I got
to do it somewhere, and I don't have a bucket
with me, so I have to do it in the sink,

(09:11):
and then I got to rewash the sink all over
again when I'm done. So that makes me mad. So
that's why I don't forget. Your bucket doesn't have to
be a big bucket. It could be a little red bucket.
It can be a bucket that is one of those
big buckets from loads, like a contractor bucket, either one.
I mean, it's all you need. You just need a bucket.
The cool thing is about the big ones is you
can put a lot of your supplies in there, and

(09:33):
then when you need to use it on the job,
the bucket itself, you just take those supplies out, put
them neatly somewhere, and then use it. Then dump your
water out when it's time and put stuff back in
you go. So beyond the core cleaning supplies, consider adding
a few specialized tools depending on your individual needs and
specific challenges presented by your home or whatever you're cleaning.

(09:58):
For example, window cleaning squeeze you can make a huge
difference in achieving a streak free window. A toilet bowl
brush specifically designed for this task is essential for maintaining
a bathroom hygiene. That's true. A dusting brush with soft
bristles is ideal for delicate surfaces. I'm telling the swiffers,
I mean, those things have come a long way. There

(10:19):
was a time and I was like, I'm not carrying
that thing around. It doesn't do anything. So all it
does is just take all the dust and just put
it on the floor and then you know, I'm going
to vacuum it up anyway, So why use that when
I could use a cloth? Well, now, the swiffers just
they trap so much dust and dirt and hair and

(10:40):
you know, well you name it, it gets it. And
it's better than just you know, flinging it down with
a rag hoping it land somewhere that you can vacuum
it up. So I go for that. A dusting brush
with soft bristles is ideal for delicate surfaces and for
those with pets, a good quality pet hair remover, both

(11:01):
for furniture and flooring. Now a word about budget friendly cleaning.
Many people believe that high priced, brand name cleaning products
are essential for a spotless home. This is simply not true.
Not no serve read it is not true. Many readily
available and affordable brands are just as effective and often

(11:24):
used just as effective formulations as they're more expensive counterparts.
Don't be full by slick marketing promises of miracles. Read
the ingredient list carefully and compare formulations to discover budget
friendly alternatives that work just as well. You know this
is all about marketing, right. This is another great way
to reduce environmental impact, reducing excessive packaging waste caused by

(11:49):
frequent purchasing. Like we said before, mix it yourself. Furthermore,
let's discuss the environment the environmental considerations. Many conventional cleaning
products contain harsh chemicals that can harm the environment and
your health, I mean particularly your health. I mean we
try very hard to use organic type products that are

(12:13):
they are eco friendly, but they're also not harsh chemicals
that you're going to breathe in that your family's going
to breathe in, or if you're cleaning somebody else's house,
that they're going to be breathing in. So I mean
take that part pretty seriously, because there's some really good
cleaners out there that are that do a great job.
They're biodegradable, they're free of phosphates and harsh chemicals, and

(12:38):
you know their package sustainably if that's that important to you.
There are many wonderful brands offering such solutions, and the
quality is often just as good, if not better, than
what you'll find in the supermarket. Switching to eco friendly
options is a great way to reduce your environmental impact
without sacrificing and cleaning power. So out of brands at

(13:01):
Walmart and at some of the grocery stores. It's a simple,
simply simple something I can't remember exactly, but they have
several different ones, and they're clean products and they work
very very well, and they smell pretty good, so that's
worth it, and they may be less expensive than the
other stuff, so go check those out. Finally, remember that

(13:22):
quality trump's quantity. It's far better to invest in a
few high quality cleaning supplies that will last you for
years than constantly buy cheap, low quality replacement crap that's
less effective and have a shorter lifespan. A well chosen
set of cleaning supplies will not only improve your cleaning efficiency,

(13:42):
but also reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.
This is about making smart choices, about creating a cleaning
kit that works for you and is kind of to
both your home and the planet. Take your time, don't
be afraid to experiment, enjoy the process of asembling your
cleaning dream team. With the right tools, your path to

(14:04):
a sparkling clean home just got a whole lot easier,
a whole lot more enjoyable. And that's coming from me.
That's one half of the dream team, the cleaning dream team.
So next we're going to go into how to organize
your cleaning arsenal and this is actually a lot more
important than you think. And then we got some more
good stuff to get into even after that, so we're

(14:26):
gonna wrap it up. I'm gonna go organize my cleaning
products from this morning. Doesn't that sound like so much fun?
And then we'll have some more discuss next time. So
y'all have a great day and God bless y'all.
