Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, welcome, I got a good one for you today.
This is a place I've been to many, many times,
from when I was in high school, college and even
a little bit later, and also with you know, with
the family and the kids and the wife and all that.
So it's a great it's a great family place. So

(00:21):
where we're going today, We're heading to sunny Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina, a crown jewel of the East Coast, known
for it sixty miles of beaches, family family, family friendly attractions,
and yes, plenty of Southern charm. Whether you're road tripping
with your family, flying in for a romantic getaway, or

(00:43):
just looking for a fun escape, Myrtle Beach has something
for everyone. And that is the truth. So let's dive in,
shall we. Let's just, you know, dive right in. So
let's talk about getting to Myrtle Beach. So, if you're
flying and you're coming from out of state, Myrtle Beach

(01:04):
International Airport m y R is your go to. It's
a small but efficient airport with plenty of direct flights
from major cities like Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and it's
really really only minutes from the beach. So when you're
flying in, you're going to see the beach. It's a
cool flight, and usually flights in and out of Myrtle

(01:29):
Beach are relatively inexpensive. So if you're driving, Myrtle Beach
is also a prime robe trip destination. So it's accessible
via US Route seventeen or Highway seventeen and I ninety five.
That depends on which way you're coming from. You might

(01:49):
enjoy scenic views of the Marshlands pine forest as you
drive to the area. It's a pretty nice drive. If
you're driving in, you try try try to find a
way to get in early in the day because Myrtle
Beach traffic can get heavy, especially during summer spring breaks.

(02:13):
And I mean you catch it at the wrong time,
and it is it is gridlock. And you know, it's
like any other tourist town where people are there, they
don't live there, they don't know where to go, which
way to go, so it's, uh, it can be a
little bit of chaos. But everybody has navigation now, so

(02:34):
maybe it's getting a little bit better. All right, So
you've made it to Myrtle Beach. What's on the agenda?
A real question? What's on the agenda, or really, what
isn't on the agenda? Of course, the Sandy shoreline is
the star of the show. Relax with a book, take

(02:57):
a dip in the Atlantic, or rent jet skis if
you're adventurous. Family will love the gentle waves, perfect for
young swimmers. The boardwalk and sky wheel. Take a stroll
along the one point two mile Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, filled
with shops for restaurants, street performers, and don't miss the

(03:19):
sky wheel, one of the tallest Ferriss wheels in the US.
You'll get incredible views of the coastline. I haven't done
that in a long time, but it is an incredible view.
There is also Broadway at the beach. It's a sprawling
entertainment complex. It has everything, restaurants, live entertainment, mini golf,

(03:39):
and even an aquarium. It's perfect for all ages. I've
been there many times and seen some little concerts, been
in some restaurants. I've been to some clubs in there.
There's a lot to do for everybody. Really a nice
place to go. Put that on your agenda. Golf, golf, golf, golf.

(04:05):
I'm into repeating words today. Did you know Myrtle Beach
is called the golf capital of the world, with over
eighty courses, Both seasoned pros and beginners can find a
spot to tee off. So I'm kind of a Part
three guy, all right. The only thing I can hit
is a pitchon wedge and a putter. Now, I can

(04:25):
hit that pitching wedge a long way, So even if
I'm playing a regular golf course, you know, I'm still
teeing off with my pitching wedge. Man. My dad used
to hate that. He'd be so embarrassed in front of
his friends and I tea off with a pigeon wedge.
And the crazy thing is they were getting older and
I can drive them anyway. Family fun, check out Ripley's

(04:46):
Aquarium or Pirates Voyage Dinner the Dinner Show for kid
feeling activities. I have been to both and both are
worth worth at the time to go. Check out local eats.
Myrtle Beach is known for its seafood. It's got some
really good seafood. It's got some low country styles shrimp

(05:07):
and grits. It has a lot of fried seafood, a
lot of all you can eat buffets. You're not going
to go away from any of these places hungry. I
can promise you that. So there's spots like Sea Captain's
House or Drunken Jacks in nearby Merle's Inlet, which is

(05:29):
it's really just greater Myrtle Beach. When we talk about
Merle's Inlet there, what to expect while you're there? Okay,
so what I mean, what we're seeing here, what's the
vibe like? You know, what's the weather like and all that.
So let's set some expectations about the vibe. Myrtle Beach

(05:51):
is all about fun and relaxation. It's busy during peak
season spring and summer, so expect crowds. Expect actually at
the main attractions. But listen, it's still it's a it's
a fun vibe. You got a big mix of people,
very diverse crowd. There's so much to do there. I mean,

(06:12):
water slides, putt put you, they're all kind of restaurants, clubs.
So the vibe is what you make it. During the day,
it's all about the beach and hanging out at the
beach and doing all that kind of stuff. And the
beach is awesome, it's so big, the sand is great,
the waves are good. So it's got it's got a

(06:35):
good all around vibe weather. The summers are hot and humid,
perfect for the beach. That's what you would expect down
south of the beach. Right. If you visit in Springer Fall,
you'll still enjoy warm weather and fewer people. So remember that,
you know, mid Sprey, early midfall. I mean, it's still

(06:57):
nice and you're still gonna have some eighty to eighty
five degree days. It's it's really a good time to go.
It is family friendly. I mean, Myrtle Beach is a
major destination for families, so you'll see plenty of kids,
and that's a good thing. There's so many great things
for kids to do. But like I said earlier, nightlife

(07:18):
lovers can still find in great bars and clubs like
the ones at the Bowery or Broadway at the Beach.
Some budget tips, right, well, Myrtle Beach is generally affordable,
especially compared to other beach destinations. Right, but prices do
spike in the peak season, just like everywhere else. Consider

(07:41):
visiting in the off season. Kind of like what we
just said, the spring and fall still get plenty of
great days and great weather and less less people and
and better deals on your day. All right, so you've
you've come to Myrtle Beach, you've soaked it in, you've
got a sunburn, you've had a great time, and now

(08:06):
it's time to go home. So a few tips for
leaving Myrtle Beach when it's so when it's time to
head out, here a few tips to make leaving Myrtle
Beach as smooth as possible. Traffic. If you're driving, leave
early in the morning or later in the evening to
avoid the dreaded weekend traffic jams. And that is straight

(08:27):
up true if you can get If you're in a hotel,
get a later check out, or plan something fun to do. Say,
if you're leaving on Sunday, you know Sunday, go to
lunch and then go do something else till about two
three o'clock in the afternoon and then head out, or
get up early and just get your butt out of
town before all the traffic gets there, gets on the road.

(08:53):
Souvenirs before you leave. You're gonna want to stock up
on souvenirs. There are no shortage of souvenir shops in
Myrtle Beach. T shirt shops, you know, surf shops, all
of them, and they all have souvenirs so you can
remember Myrtle Beach. There's the Gay Dolphin gift Cove Myrtle

(09:20):
Beach staple. It's been there forever. It has everything from
seashells to little quirky trinkets. If you're flying out, give
yourself plenty of time at the airport. While it is small.
Security lines do get a little long during peak travel season,

(09:40):
but you know it's not like a major airport. We
have to give yourself two or three hours. You can
probably you'll be fine if you give yourself an hour.
Here's some fun acts about Myrtle Beach before we wrap up.
What about Myrtle Beach was named after the wax myrtle

(10:02):
tree which grows in the area, and we have plenty
in our yard right now. The Myrtle Beach attracts nearly
twenty million visitors each year. That's a lot because Myrtle
Beach is not huge. The Atlantic Ocean water can reach
up to eighty five degrees in July and August late

(10:27):
July and August, and it really is like a warm bath,
so you're not going to run into the water and
be It's not going to be jarring cold, and it
might not even be refreshing, but it's still water and
it's still fun. So Myrtle Beach, you know, it truly
has something for everyone. Whether you're a beach bump, a foodie,

(10:50):
or an adrenaline junkie, you'll find plenty to love. So
make sure you pack your sunscreen, hit the road or
the skies, and get ready to experience one of the
most iconic beach destinations in the US. There's so much
more we could talk about Myrtle Beach, but I am
going to I'm going to pack up my stuff and
my cooler, and I'm going to head off the beach.

(11:13):
So you guys have a great day and we will
talk about some more Myrtle Beach real suit, all right,
God bless
