Insurance companies often seem like allies after an accident, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In our latest episode, we lift the veil on the manipulative tactics that insurers use to minimize payouts and keep their profits high. By understanding their strategies, you can better protect yourself and your rights.

We dive into how adjusters may contact you shortly after an accident, feigning concern while gathering information that could be used against you later. They know that victimized individuals are often vulnerable and may inadvertently downplay their injuries. We discuss several key reasons why this interaction is critical to navigate carefully and why speaking with a lawyer beforehand can make all the difference.

Listeners will discover mutual pitfalls that adjusters often set for unwary victims, including quickly offering settlements before the full extent of injuries can be assessed. Acceptance of any early offer without legal consultation may not just compromise your current claim but also forego any future entitlements. Our podcast provides specific guidance on recognizing these warning signs and ensuring you never feel pressured to speak or settle too quickly.

As the episode progresses, we underscore the need for absolute transparency surrounding your accident. Documenting every piece of information—from medical visits to conversations with your insurance provider—ensures you have a solid foundation for your claims case. We advocate for the irreplaceable value of having a personal injury attorney by your side to navigate the complex and often intimidating landscape of insurance claims.

By sharing actionable insights and practical advice, we hope to empower every listener who has faced the unfortunate reality of an accident. This episode is a must-listen for anyone who wants to safeguard their rights and ensure they receive just compensation. Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three ways insurance companies will try to trick you
after an accident.
Welcome to Ask your InjuryLawyer podcast featuring
Butterfield Associates.
I'm your host, rob Tarnina, andtoday we're going to be
discussing how insurancecompanies operate after an
accident, how insurancecompanies try to manipulate you
and what you should never do.
Now, the truth about insurancecompanies is they're for-profit

(00:24):
businesses, which means payingyou less money means more money
for them.
Their adjusters are trained tominimize payouts, even if you
deserve full compensation.
Now here are three waysinsurance companies will try to
trick you.
One they're going to call youright away after that accident
and they're going to act reallynice.
The adjuster may even seemsympathetic.

(00:46):
They're going to be looking foryou to say things like that
you're not hurt, or I'm not hurtthat bad.
Anything that you say duringthis call, it's going to be used
against you later on tominimize your claim.
So that's the almost like.
The adjuster's job is to getyou trapped into a place where
you respond with I'm not thathurt.

(01:07):
The second thing that theymight pressure you to take money
quickly, offering a fast payoutbefore you even know the full
extent of your injuries.
And the thing is, once youaccept, you are waiving your
right to seek furthercompensation.
This is why always talk to alawyer before agreeing to any

(01:27):
settlement from an insurancecompany.
Three they might tell you notto get a lawyer.
If an insurance company advisesyou against hiring an attorney,
it's because they know legalrepresentation will get you more
money.
A lawyer protects your interest, not their interest.
So never, ever, take legaladvice from the same company

(01:52):
that has to pay you your claim.
So here's a list.
Here's a few things, sort oflike a cheat sheet of things
that you should never do afteran accident.
Never admit fault, even if youthink you were at fault.
Let investigators and attorneysdetermine liability.
Two never give a recordedstatement to the insurance

(02:14):
companies.
Adjusters will use your wordsto downplay your injuries later
on.
Three never accept a settlementwithout legal advice.
You may be entitled to far morethan that initial offer.
Number four never post ever, never, ever post about your
accident on social media, eventhough you may be tempted to do

(02:37):
so.
Insurance companies monitorsocial media to find anything
that will contradict your claim.
Number five never skip medicaltreatment or follow-ups.
Gaps in treatment can be used toargue that you weren't
seriously hurt.
So what should you do instead?

(02:58):
You should definitely seekmedical attention right away.
Document everything Injuries,damage, medical visits,
correspondence with theinsurance companies and consult
a personal injury attorneybefore speaking with any
adjuster or sign anything.
Now here's the big takeaways, here's our call to actions.

(03:21):
Like if I had to sum this up,here's the the conclusion that
you guys, the one thing that youguys should remember number one
if you or someone you know hasbeen in an accident, seek
medical treatment to call alawyer within the personal
injury space.
That first phone call and theadvice that then the guidance

(03:41):
that you're going to receive, isfree.
So call Butterfuquan Associates1-800-NOW-HURT and you can
receive a free consultation.
That's not going to hurt you.
What will hurt you is speakingwith the insurance companies and
accidentally putting somethingon record that could hurt your
claim later on.
The second thing you could dosubscribe to the show and share

(04:04):
it to more people.
We're trying to build a healthycommunity here because we want
to arm the public with theinformation that they need in
order to get really good, proper, justifiable results.
