Savannah Bananas win 14th Straight Game... Then the Firefighters End the Win Streak in SHOWDOWNS!!

Welcome to this week’s Banana Breakdown!! In today’s episode we discuss some of the top moments of the weekend including: 

-The Savannah Bananas extend their historic win streak to 14 games!

-Firefighters end the win streak in showdowns thanks to Joe Lytle & Ben Dum. This clinches the first Firefighters win of the season vs. the Savannah Bananas

-Ben Dum has been incredible on the mound this year and keeps getting better!

-The closers in Banana Ball are incredible! From Drew Gillespie on the Party Animals, to Danny Hosley on the Savannah Bananas, to Jon Reid & Brett Carson on the Texas Tailgaters, and Ben Dum on the Firefighters, the closers are the stars of Banana Ball! 

-Was the Golden Batter used incorrectly in game 2 of the Party Animals vs. The Texas Tailgaters? Sammy’s opinion is that if it was not used for a celebrity guest in the 8th and instead used in the 9th, his Party Animals might have taken home then win!

-Playing at LSU and having Zach Watson, an LSU Alumni wear his LSU jersey and complete back to back trick plays while mic’d up and score the winning run in showdowns all in his LSU jersey. 

-in Showdowns, after Zach Watson gave the Texas Tailgaters the 1 point lead, Jon Reid was on the mound. After striking out 4 batters in the 8th and 9th innings, he led the party Animals to hit a pop fly straight to Jordan Hussein who completed a behind the back catch, the first ever trick play in Showdown history!! 

-Drew Gillespie and the Party Animals completed a 44 second inning, the fastest in Banana Ball history! Now Drew has the 2 fastest innings in the game. His previous record was at 46 seconds. 

-Jesse Cole’s Dad was a huge help creating the rules of Banana Ball. He came up with the idea of the “win the inning, get the point” but was also hesitant when Jesse mentioned having a 2 hour time clock. Jesse mentioned how it is actually a good thing to leave them wanting more at the end of the game.

-Dalton Ponce of the Party Animals threw 6 strikeouts in 2 innings! 

-Ryan cox completed a trick play which pushed the league total across all teams this year to 1,360 trick plays which beat the record set in previous world tours!
