Taylor (00:00):
One guy said he tuned out of the channel because

(00:02):
normal people don't everydaycarry knives that expensive.
KnifeCenter's YouTube channelwas hacked and subsequently
nuked, and I have finallylaunched my second knife design.
Maybe. Welcome to DeepCuts, cutswhere the knives are sharp, the
comments are sharper, andsometimes the Internet just
catches fire. Let's do the damnthing.

(00:24):
Alright. First up, because youguys always ask, what's in my
pockets? Sixty seconds on theclock. We're gonna get it done
in that time or less. First up,we have the Chris Reeve Insingo
or the Inkosi Insingo like I hada few weeks ago, and this time I
have a Nice Guy Machine Companyclip on it.
Thanks, Archie. We also have, same as always, the SOG
Powerpoint. We mixed up the pintoo. This is a tactile bolt

(00:48):
action slim best MEDC zero feudthree way collaboration. Same
wallet though.
Rustic heirloom hitchhiker, thehoneycomb edition. And I also
have a new flashlight in mypocket, the bronze Okluma DC
zero, and I think that's it.That's it. That's that's all of
it. Oh, sorry.
Almost forgot. Switched up thewatch for you too. Greg Stevens

(01:12):
Design Explorer on the wristtoday. Love this watch, and I
don't wear it nearly enough.Alright.
That's what's in my pockets.Alright. This next segment,
which is always a comment fromone of you guys here on YouTube,
we're gonna call this one missedthe point. Alright. So this
comment comes from steven h dotthree two nine seven and he
said, no wonder I tuned thischannel out.

(01:35):
Everyday people don't EDC thatprice of knife. I spent $120 on
my pair two back in the day, andI'd rather have three more than
that thing. He is commenting inresponse to Ricky's Dixon video,
which we've mentioned a fewtimes here. This knife right
here, which is $625. For therecord.
Ricky did say it was $6.75 inthe video, but it's $6.25.

(01:55):
Doesn't really matter. It's over$600. It is a lot of money to
spend on just one knife. But I'msorry you tuned out, Steven.
I'm glad you're back. Maybe not.I don't know. I don't really
care if you're here or not. Thepoint is not everybody has to
carry a $600 knife.
Also, not everybody wants tocarry a $20 knife from Walmart.
Everybody wants something alittle bit different. If you

(02:16):
want an American made knife, you're never really gonna get
out for much cheaper than whatyou have there, a hundred and
$20 if you're lucky. If you'relucky. Is the Para two American
made?
That might be that I think thatone is a a Taiwan knife. I'm
pretty sure. You'll be hardpressed to find something made
in America for anywhere close toa hundred and $20 in a folder. I
think the closest you'llprobably come is from, like,

(02:38):
Three Rivers Manufacturing orsomething, and they're closer to
$200, and they're even going uptoo. So the point is not really
about how much the knife costsor where it's made.
It's about what you like. AndI'm not trying to be like a
fence writer here. I'm also not, like, totally upset about your
sour grapes about the Dixon. It's fine if you don't wanna
spend 600 and some dollars on aknife. I don't expect everybody

(03:00):
who watches the video to buy a$600 knife and carry every day.
That's not what it's about. Whatit's about for me is showing you
guys the cool stuff that exists. If I only ever showed you budget
knives, it would be prettyboring. There's so much overlap
and same same in that budgetcategory that it would just be
very monotonous and boring forme. I like really cool things.

(03:23):
I like gear. Sometimes I likevery cheap gear. The SOG power
point that I carry, $50 $35multi tool, 35 to 50. The
flashlight I carry is like a$30.40 dollar flashlight. It's
not super expensive.
Yeah. The one I have in mypocket today, $400. But the
point is that here on thechannel, we are trying to show
you things. We wanna show youwhat's cool. And if we only

(03:45):
focus on one thing, that doesn'tgive you the variety.
It doesn't show you the entiremarket. For me, the the the
comparison that I always like tomake is with car YouTube. If you
watched a car YouTuber who onlyreviewed, like, I don't know,
Fiats and Honda Civics and, youknow, $20,000 cars, it would be
kind of boring. It's useful topeople looking to buy those.

(04:06):
Sure.
But I prefer to watch a carYouTuber who's reviewing a
Lamborghini or an Audi r eightor something truly exotic and
crazy, a Hennessy Raptor. Right?A Velociraptor. If I'm only
watching a car YouTuber who isonly reviewing budget cars, I'm
not watching it for theentertainment value. I'm

(04:27):
watching it just forinformation, which I understand.
As a buyer, maybe you understandthat as well, and that's what
you're looking for. But for me,it is far more interesting to
have a variety. Somebody who canmake the videos about those
budget knives and then somebodywho can also make videos about a
$625 knife or even moreexpensive, like an 870 some
dollar knife that Ricky is gonnabe talking about very soon on

(04:49):
the channel that is also verysweet. The point is that it's
not just about what you wouldbuy, but just what's out there,
what people are doing, whatpeople are making. These people
are making really cool knives, and they're giving Americans
jobs.
So there's just two pieces ofthat puzzle, and you're
completely ignoring one wholeside of the equation. So all
that is to say, we make videosabout budget knives. We make

(05:11):
videos about expensive knives. We like it all. So sorry that
you feel that just because we'vetalked about an expensive knife
here and there, you can'tsubscribe.
But we're not gonna just makeone type of video. I can't do
that. I don't think Ricky wantsto do that. I think we like
variety, and I would hope youlike variety too. So that's what

(05:32):
I have to say about that.
Really quickly, Ricky wanted meto to mention that the videos
he's making, which were likeextensions of his Realium
entries that he started with onInstagram, are stories about the
makers, not just the knifeitself, but behind the knife,
the man behind the knife, theprocess behind the knife, what
went into this, the story thatgot that person to this point in
their knife making career. Sothere's a lot more to it than

(05:55):
just like, look at this shinynew object. There's stories to
be told, and that's that'ssomething that Ricky really
likes is the history, thestories, the things behind it. I
enjoy looking for, you know, things that we haven't covered
and finding different places andways that we can talk about this
gear. Because if we talk aboutjust every single new knife that
comes across the table, I'mgonna be checked out about,

(06:16):
like, three videos.
And I just want variety. So Ilike to provide that variety,
and it's very easy for people onthe other side to cherry pick
because we did one thing theydidn't like. You know what? I
kinda like I kinda like thatsegment where I can, like, get
fired up a little bit about acomment. Like, typing that out
as a reply on YouTube would bevery petty, but it is, like,

(06:40):
cathartic as hell to do thissegment here on the channel.
I'm not here to start a fight. Idon't want to start fights with
you guys, but I would like tobroaden the conversation. It's
like we're so far removed frompeople being able to just debate
and have different opinionsabout things, and I like being
able to do this in an open forumand then hear back from you guys

(07:00):
on this topic. Alright. Next upis the community carry of the
week.
If you guys would like to submitand be featured here, you can do
that by tagging us on Instagramat e d c dot weekly. That's a
new account made specificallyfor this. Also, because I had
some questions, maybe moreconcern from people who don't
use social media, if you wouldlike to submit, I have reopened
the Google form. So it is thesame web address, edcw.co. Go

(07:23):
there and you could submit andbe featured here.
And like I said last week, ifyou are featured, you get to
choose between a best m e d chat or a t shirt. We'll be in
touch with Viking Gear e d cafter this. But what we have in
this photo, there's a veryspecific reason I chose this
photo. There's only three piecesof gear. He does list out the
rest of his carry, but we have aTikal Piranha, which is an

(07:45):
awesome tiny fixed blade.
We have a SOG power pipe, andthen we have an RZE super
compressor watch. I actuallyalmost wore my RZE super
compressor today, but I itdidn't have a bracelet on it, I
was in a hurry. So Fabian alsosays, not pictured, but always
with me. We have a CaryCommission rustic heirloom
hitchhiker in cognac. He alsohas AirPods, an iPhone 14 Pro,

(08:06):
and then he has keys, a Griffinadventure tool, and a Glow Rhino
Tritium fob.
And then finally, a Jeremy CyrusZippo v three occasionally.
Fabian says, all three of theseitems are special to me. My
watch was a gift to myself afterworking my first higher paying
job. The Tea Kel was a birthdaygift to me, and it is such an
amazing knife. I startedcarrying fixed blades more
often, and this is perfect tome.

(08:28):
As for the SOG, I make theseclips myself. I had way too much
time on my hands and reallydisliked the way the tool sat in
my pocket, and I just wantedsomething better. Although I've
started selling some of theclips online, I do not intend
for this to be used as anadvertisement. I simply love the
community and what the EDCweekly stands for. He's also
looking for something.
He says, he's looking for adifferent style watch, a little
more dressy, maybe leather orfabric band around the same

(08:49):
price point as the RZE watches.I don't even know what the RZE
super compressor goes for. Isit, $3.50?

Rikki (08:55):
I would assume so.

Taylor (08:56):
Probably something in there. 4. I mean, there's a
there's a billion Seikos in thatprice range. If you can find an
Alpinist I think an Alpinist isreally good. There's also a
Seiko Passage.
I don't know what a Passage goesfor, but it is very classy.
Seiko Passage, $3.50. Rightthere. But there I feel like
there is, like, an olderdiscontinued version that is

(09:17):
highly sought after that is alot more expensive, but it's a
dress watch. That's the bestthing I can tell you.
The Seiko Versace is probablythe classiest dress watch for
about $3.50 that isn't a microbrand. I'm sure there are a
million micro brands that Idon't know about, but that's the
one I would recommend. And ifyou wanna go a different route,
maybe an Orient. Orient has alot of really dressy watches.

(09:38):
Alright.
Next week, what we will belooking for for this community
carry of the week is your besthard use gear. Not just hard use
gear that has been used. I wannasee used and abused, like, truly
used, well loved carries. So,again, tag EDC Weekly on
Instagram. It's EDC.weekly overon Instagram or go to EDCW.co

(09:59):
and submit there.
Finally, we're to the part wherewe need to thank our channel
sponsors, the people who makethis all possible. First, we
have Work Sharp. They makereally great sharpeners. They
also have some knives that arecoming out of blade show. Keep
your eyes peeled for those.
But this is your reminder to useyour shit and sharpen your
knives. Thank you to Workshopfor being a channel sponsor.
Also, we'd like to thank BigIdea Design. They've been
sponsoring for a very long time.Just big supporters of what we

(10:21):
do here, and we love those guys.
They make really nice pins forEDC. Everything from brass and
copper, now bronze, titanium, zirconium if you wanna get a
little fancy, and they have tonsof titanium pocket tools and now
knives. Go check out everythingthey have to offer at the link
down below. And if you usecoupon code carry on, you'll get
10% off at checkout. Andfinally, we wanna thank Whatnot.

(10:42):
Whatnot is a live streamingplatform where you can go buy
all sorts of stuff. They havePokemon cards and vintage
clothing, all kinds of stuff. But also, of course, knives, and
we will be going live today, May23 at 4PM eastern time, and we
have some special stuff. We'regonna be doing a giveaway, a few
giveaways, actually, and we'llhave some of my Topo Zippos.

(11:05):
Maybe the last few of thesecarry commission lookouts in
Topo.
Maybe. And maybe some other funstuff. Go check it out. There's
a link down below, and if yousign up using my link, you get
$15 towards your first purchase.Alright.
Now on to the on my radar.Obviously, we should just start
with this one. My knife came outyesterday. We have the tactile

(11:27):
Red Hawk. It is my second knifedesign.
They are available in threedifferent color ways over at
tactile. You have an all black, black cerakote with black
micarta. You have a stonewashwith green micarta, and then you
have a green cerakote withnatural micarta. Those are all
available at tactile knife. Andthen we have a Carry Commission

(11:47):
exclusive.
It is this one right here, theone I've been carrying for
months now, which is an FDEblade and black micarta, if
they're still available by thetime this video goes live. I I
imagine the Carry Commissionones are probably gone, tactile.
I don't know. If you miss it, ifthey're not available when
you're watching this, if theyare all sold out, there will be
some at Blade Show, so I'm told.Secondly, if you went to YouTube

(12:08):
sometime this week and you werelooking for KnifeCenter and it
just happened to be gone, thatis because KnifeCenter was
hacked and then subsequentlytaken down.
The channel was removed. As ofright now, they are working to
get their channel reinstated. Idon't know what the status of
that is now. As of this morning,it was not available. By the
time this video airs, hopefully, they have it sorted out.

(12:29):
But YouTube is notorious fortaking its time on matters like
this. So, hopefully, they canget that reinstated very
quickly. And all I have to sayabout that is that it always
makes me terrified. I use asgood a security as I can, two
factor authentication, and tryto use different passwords and
all sorts of stuff, and it canstill happen to other people.
KnifeCenter said they were usingtwo factor authentication.

(12:49):
Don't know how that happened, but they got hacked and their
channel's gone. And thatterrifies me every single day. I
hope you guys can get thatsorted out quickly. This one's
like a humbling moment. I don'tknow.
I'm just gonna be candid withyou guys. I got got. And this
one's on my radar because, Idon't know, I just gotta show
you that, like, yeah, Facebookmarketing and ads work on me

(13:13):
too, even though I make Facebookads sometimes. This thing popped
up on my feed in, like,December. This is called the
Metmo Piston, and it's just apneumatic brass fidget thing.
It just just that's that's it.That's it. I paid, like, a

(13:33):
hundred dollars for this thing, and I I genuinely don't know
why. I remember buying it. Idon't know why I bought it.
This is all it does. You just, like, is that and then you can,
like I don't know why I'mtelling you this. I mean, is it
cool? Kind of. But the coolnesswears off after, like, I don't

(13:56):
know, five minutes.
I will admit this is this ispretty satisfying. You'd, like,
untwist the bottom here. That'spretty satisfying. But, like, it
took that long for this to thisarrived today, which today is
Tuesday, May, whatever. Fivemonths and a hundred dollars,

(14:20):
and I have this thing.
Ricky loves it. Ricky Rickyloves that I bought this and I
don't know why. Alright. Now, onto the giveaway. Last week, we
announced we were giving awaythis right here, a Benchmade
five three five, which is thealuminum with the burgundy rich
light.
The winner from last week'sgiveaway is Tristan Emerson.

(14:40):
We've already contacted him. Idon't think we've heard from
him, but congratulations,Tristan. If you would like to
win the next knife, which isgonna be this right here, this
is a carry commission exclusiveAlu Bronze Pro Tech Malibu. All
you have to do is already besigned up for the newsletter.
I told you guys, I've beentelling you for weeks, sign up
for the newsletter and you canwin stuff. Right? So the

(15:02):
instructions for how to enterthis giveaway are in the email
from this week. If you've notsigned up, you missed the boat.
There's no way to get thatemail.
You'll have to sign up and getin on the next giveaway. I hope
that makes sense. In short, ifyou would like to win this knife
right here, go see if you havethe EDC weekly from today. The
instructions are in there. Okay.

(15:23):
So we've been doing games everyweek so far with the deep cuts.
I felt like we needed to mix itup a little bit. So we're still
gonna do games, but this is likeTaylor versus Ricky. This is
what we're gonna call up theante. And this week, Ricky had
an idea.
What's your idea, Ricky?

Rikki (15:41):
Taylor thinks of himself as a fancy guy with his little
fire starter here, so I told

Taylor (15:48):
him got fancy? Do I think I'm fancy?

Rikki (15:49):
He thinks he's a fancy guy. He's he's over here trying
to start fires everywhere hegoes now. So I told him, what if
I challenged him to a firestarting competition? He gets to
use his Wazoo Viking Spark. Iget to use a Zippo.
Now my Zippo is in my backpackin my little editing den there.
So we're both gonna start withour hands on the table. When I

(16:10):
say go or he says go, he needsto start a fire using his Wazoo
Viking Spark. I have to run overto my backpack, get my lighter,
and set this little piece ofTinder? Tinder on fire.
Whoever does it first wins.

Taylor (16:24):
We are gonna start right here with their hands on the
table. I'm gonna start try tostart a fire with my Viking
Spark just around my neck. Rickyis gonna have to go get his
lighter and come back, andwhoever starts the fire first
wins. If Ricky wins, you guys, one of you, will win a Wazi
Viking spark. If I win, nobodygets anything yet.

(16:47):
Ready. No. I got a lot more to,like you just gotta unzip some
stuff. I gotta I can win. I'mgonna win.
Easy. Easy money.

Rikki (16:56):
Three, two, one.

Taylor (17:02):
Lightning speed. Lightning speed. Oh, god. I
fumbled the bag. I fumbled theYeah.
I fumbled it.

Rikki (17:19):
Done. Fumbled. You're still gonna like the wire. There
you go.

Taylor (17:23):
Oh. I know why I fumbled it. It was so easy, but I, like,
kept fumbling it. Was just intoo much of a hurry. Oh.
Alright. Well, congrats tosomebody. They're getting a
Wazyu Vikings part.

Rikki (17:32):
Doing it for you guys. Next up is gonna give a CRK
eventually. We'll get there.Hey. Good game.
Good game.

Taylor (17:40):
I'm not shaking your hand.

Rikki (17:41):
Good game, sir. Good game. You took a while.

Taylor (17:44):
Dude, I could have easily done that, and I just
fumbled, like, five times. I'mso disappointed in myself.

Rikki (17:50):
Hey. I gave you I honestly, I didn't even know in
which pocket that lighter wasin.

Taylor (17:55):
Oh, I had to open a pocket I

Rikki (17:56):
gave you I gave you so much time. Hey, all that means
is you get to practice startingfires now.

Taylor (18:04):
I I should have been able to do it quickly, a la just
this, this, and then go, and Ijust kept I didn't grab it like
this Oh, strike and I keptdropping it.

Rikki (18:16):
Yeah. You woulda you woulda had it, man. Pause it by,
you can swear. You're welcome.Damn it.
Don't let don't say don't say Inever do anything for you guys.
You're welcome.

Taylor (18:27):
Ricky's an asshole. Well, anyway, that is it for the
deep cuts this week. Be sure tosubscribe to the newsletter if
you would like to win this very, very nice knife. Don't forget,
we're also gonna be live onWhatnot tonight at 4PM. Don't
miss that.
And also, there is an audio onlypodcast, which is just this in
audio only form so you canlisten to my beautiful voice
while you fall asleep or on yourway to work, whatever or not. I

(18:49):
don't care. Also, Blade Show iscoming up very soon. We should
have a deep cuts before BladeShow, but there will definitely
be a Blade show, like, post showfor sure. So stay tuned for all
of the blade show goodness.
We will see you guys next weekin deep cuts and probably before
