all that and more.
I'm here to help you see yourworld differently, challenge you
creatively and find yourpassion for photography.
Welcome back to Better PhotosPodcast.
(00:21):
How did you like that episodelast week with my AI co-host?
That was so crazy, right?
Okay, so today it's just me andI am going to teach you how to
organize your summer with chatGPT.
So it is so easy to get in aworkflow, a flow of everything.
(00:45):
Organize your time when thekids are in school and you have
more structure.
But summer is chaotic and if Idon't have some sort of
structure, I end up doingnothing really productive and
I'm kind of in a funk or in amood of like things that I feel
like I should be doing but Idon't, or I'm using my time in
(01:11):
random places like scrolling orjust totally.
My mind cannot stay straight.
So I'm going to give you sometips on how to organize your
workflow for the summer and someother things like a cleaning
schedule.
So if this is for you, thenstick around and we are going to
(01:31):
get some structure for yoursummer, okay.
So I asked ChatGPT help.
I was like, help, help, help.
Okay.
So this is what I did.
I told chat GPT that I need adaily checklist for my business.
(01:52):
I told chat GPT what mybusiness was, um, what I do, and
I named, like, each task that Ineed to get done or that I
would like to get done, and howlong I have to work on it.
So this can fluctuate and, depending on your business,
(02:13):
depending on how many hours youhave a day, depending on how
many days a week you want towork, this can all be changed.
So this is my exact prompt thatI put in.
I said I need help coming upwith a daily checklist for my
business.
I am a newborn and familyphotographer.
Tasks I typically do throughoutthe week, aside from shooting
(02:34):
our editing photos packaging, client boxes, order supplies,
post reels, post stories, postfeed posts, connect with my
audience, record a podcast, market my podcast, create a
freebie, record content, createand send a newsletter, and I
want to also include working ona mini course.
So include planning that.
(02:54):
If I have four hours a day andfive days a week, how would you
structure my time?
Okay, that's a lot so and Ieven like changed one more thing
to add in something else.
And what it gives you back isit said here's a structured
daily checklist and timeblocking plan that helps you
(03:16):
manage your newborn and familyphotography business with four
hours a day, five days a week, while balancing your creative
work, marketing and coursecreation Okay.
So then it gave me a chart andit said focus areas Okay, so we
have photo editing, social media, podcast, newsletter, freebie
creation, client boxes andorders, mini course planning and
(03:39):
buffer time slash admin.
Okay.
So then it went down and brokeit down to each day four hours,
Um, and I kind of tweaked this alittle bit based on, like I
normally like my podcast to comeout on a Monday or I normally
have like time to do this onthis day.
So I switched it around fromwhat I'm about to say.
(04:01):
But this is basic and sometimesI'm like, oh, okay, that
wouldn't take me that long so Icould adjust the time that I'm
doing each task.
So for Monday is my marketingand content creation day, based
on this chat GPT um suggestion.
So it gives me an hour to planand record one to two reels,
(04:24):
batch film and voiceovers, then,30 minutes on posting on my
feed and on my stories.
30 minutes to engage with myaudience, like direct messages
and comments.
One hour to write and schedulea newsletter.
One hour mini course planning, brainstorm modules and writing
outlines.
Okay, so that's Monday or whatit suggested.
(04:49):
Tuesday is podcast and freebieday, so one hour recording and
editing podcast.
30 minutes marketing my podcastwith stories, feed or Pinterest
.
One hour work on freebie PDFguide or template.
30 minutes on reposting orengaging on Instagram.
(05:09):
One hour editing photos, galleries or sneak peeks.
Wednesday is client experienceday.
I have one and a half hours toedit photos.
One hour to package clientboxes and prep slash track
orders.
30 minutes to yeah, post reelor carousel.
(05:30):
30 minutes to connect in my DMswith past and future clients.
30 minutes mini courserefinement or lesson recording.
Thursday is creative content andcommunity day, so it suggests
one hour to record behind thescenes or B-roll content.
One hour editing reels or videosnippets.
(05:50):
30 minutes engaging with myaudience or sending thank you
notes.
One hour to edit photos.
30 minutes to plan next week'sInstagram post or stories series
.
And Friday is strategy andadmin day editing photos for an
hour.
One hour catching up withemails, finances, backups.
(06:11):
One hour course creation, recording or designing assets.
30 minutes recapping the weekand planning next week's tasks
and 30 minutes posting on mystory or feed slash engagement.
Okay, so that is my dailychecklist.
I basically copied and pastedthat into my notion, um,
(06:35):
notion's kind of like a hub thatkeeps like everything.
It's so easy and user friendly.
So I created like a page thathas, like um, a checklist of
these things and like what days,um, and so that helps me.
Like again I said, I went inand tweaked it a little bit and
so when I get up in the morningwhich I set my alarm at 5.30 am
(06:59):
and I get up and I don't have aplan to go straight to workout
or like high intensity things, Igo out and I open up or I get
my coffee first, then I sit downand I look at my workflow for
the day.
So this helps my brain seethose four to five tasks that I
need to get done that morningbefore my kids wake up, before
(07:23):
my husband gets out of bed, sothat I can feel confident for
the rest of the day.
And let me tell you, this issuch a game changer when it
comes to trying to stay focusedbut also giving yourself a
little leeway if you need toshift something to another day.
But just having it like simplyput out of what I need to do is
(07:47):
so much more fulfilling when Iknow that I've already got that
out of the way before my kidswake up.
So that is so helpful.
Um, and the great thing is isthat I've created a um, a guide
that you can just plug in whatyou want it to say and that will
(08:09):
be in the show notes for you tograb for that exact prompts.
So you can use this for work.
You can change it for whattasks you need to do.
You can change it for how manydays, how many hours, and adjust
based on what ChatGPT suggests.
(08:30):
Okay, okay, so I had the dailyworkflow for my business.
Then what I decided to do isthat I thought I'm not great at
a cleaning schedule, so maybe Ican use this similar prompt to
ask chat gpt about cleaning.
So I told chat gpt.
(08:52):
I said I have a four bedroom,four bathroom home with a living
room, loft bonus room and asmall office and a home gym.
I have 45 minutes each morningto clean up, to clean.
Come up with a cleaningschedule for seven days of the
week.
That will be effective andefficient.
Okay, now let me just prefacethat chat.
(09:13):
Gbt thinks that I am a superwoman and thinks that I can move
really quickly through thislist.
So I quickly found out the firstday that some of these times
are unrealistic.
And I also didn't specify thesquare footage and I didn't
specify how detailed I was goinginto, say, cleaning the
(09:35):
bathroom.
So what it suggested was everyday for 10 to 15 minutes, we are
going to make all beds.
We're going to tidy the mainliving area a quick pickup.
We are going to start a load oflaundry and we're going to
rotate whether it's clothes, towels, sheets, etc.
We are also going to wipe downkitchen counters and do dishes
(09:57):
and take out the trash.
Alright, so that would be greatif it only took me 10 minutes.
But to wipe down the kitchencounters, I have to put all the
things that are sitting on thekitchen counter away.
To start the load of laundry, that means I have to go up and
gather it from my kids rooms.
To make all beds.
(10:17):
That is going to take a lot oftime.
Do you know how many pillowsand uh, blankets my kids have on
their bed?
Yeah, um.
So again, chat gpt was reallythinking highly of how quickly I
move um, so you may need toadjust these times a little bit.
And then it goes into day byday, deep focus for 30 to 35
(10:39):
minutes a day.
Again, chat GPT thinks that I'msuperwoman.
So on Monday it was bathroom day.
Okay, it says clean all fourbathrooms toilets, sinks,
counters, mirrors, tubs, showers, all right.
So I was like 30 minutes, noproblem.
Okay, I started my bathroom andI'm literally in there for like
(11:00):
three hours like scrubbinggrouts, um, cleaning the tub,
the toilet, the sinks, themirrors, um throwing away the
trash, vacuuming, dusting, likeliterally all the things.
And I was like okay, I'm noteven going to make it to all the
other bathrooms.
Okay, and it had restockingtoilet paper, soap and towels.
(11:22):
If you can do that in 30minutes, uh, great, great, great
for you.
Um, and now that it's summer, Iam incorporating my kids into
these chores, so now they gettheir own bathrooms to clean,
which is great.
Okay, tuesday is bedrooms andyou dust, vacuum and change the
(11:45):
bedding in one to two rooms andthen you rotate which bedroom
gets deep cleaned each week.
So the first week I did my, myroom, I did my room and I still
didn't make it all the waythrough.
So, um, but there was a lot ofclothes I needed to put up in,
like packages and things thatI've just kind of shoved in a
(12:06):
corner, um, so I worked on thatand then now that again that
it's summer, I'm having my kidsdeep clean their room that day,
but I'm choosing which room tohelp them deep clean.
So we just did my middledaughters on Tuesday and I ended
up getting her like one ofthose Betty's bed set things
(12:28):
because she has a day bed, andtrying to make the covers fit on
the other side of that dang bedis so hard and takes up a lot
of time.
So I was like we are gettingnew bedding?
Um, that is just you zip itright up.
Okay, so next week I'll rotateto helping another kid with
their deep clean of the bedroom.
(12:48):
Um, and that meant like, likedusting and the like see the
floor, okay, yeah, see the floor.
And like her whole makeupvanity and she is into doing
nails now.
So there was there's just lotsand lots of crafty stuff in
there, okay, so Wednesday is ourliving room and the like
(13:12):
upstairs loft area and that'sfor dusting and vacuuming and
fluffing the pillows, cleaningthe windows and the glass and
tidying things.
So on Wednesday I had my kidseach like pick something in the
living room, like some of ourbig windows or the doors to like
Windex, and they had to dividethat and I have the little robot
(13:33):
vacuum.
So I've just been sending thatout to kind of vacuum.
For me, um, thursday is kitchen.
I went to town on that kitchenwith like all the pink stuff, um
, and it's really helpful towatch a YouTube video of
somebody cleaning.
And then it's like oh yeah, okay, yeah, I should do that,
okay, yeah, I could do that, um,for the kitchen day.
So I did like the stove, I didlike the oven, um, it says clean
(13:58):
microwave, clean out the fridge, um, and mop the floor.
So again, I had to vacuum andthen mop.
Um, friday was the bonus roomand my office.
I did not even get to theoffice.
The office is going to have tobe like, oh, like one of those
like long days where I need liketo organize, I need to throw
(14:20):
things out, I need more likedrawers and cabinets.
I feel like, so that's like onthe back burner.
But today we did the bonus room,or actually yesterday, because
today's Saturday, friday we didthe bonus room and my son has so
many Lego pieces that he justgoes to town in there.
(14:42):
That was a big feat.
That was his task, for thebonus room was putting up all
the Legos, because he doesn'twant to just shove them in a bin
.
He has organized them.
He has certain ones that aremeaningful.
He likes to make new charactersof Marvel characters and stuff
like that and find like the bestways to make one that he
(15:06):
doesn't have.
So he really takes pride in theLegos and like knowing where
they are.
So that was his thing.
Then another kid did like thepillows and the blankets, and
then one did like cleaning upthe puzzle stuff, and then I
vacuumed.
That was my um and like wipedown stuff.
And then Saturday is supposed tobe like our home gym and
(15:30):
entryway wiping down theequipment, vacuuming and mopping
the floor, um, cleaning theentry mudroom area, which is
where our laundry is, andsanitizing like handles.
Okay, I didn't, I didn't get tothat today.
Um, I did that last week though.
So I'm feeling pretty confidentlike of doing at least.
(15:51):
If somebody asked me when's thelast time you blah, blah, blah,
I can say, at least within thatmonth.
Okay, so that is so much betterthan where I was at before.
Um Sunday, cause I just getoverwhelmed.
You know, it's like you startone thing and then it's all of a
sudden like, oh, I need toclean the junk drawer out.
Oh well, here's a screwdriver,I need to go fix that thing
upstairs.
Oh wait, here's some painter'stape, let me just paint a whole
(16:14):
room.
Yeah, it's just that that's me.
And then I'm like I hate doingall this, so I just quit mid
whatever.
And yeah, um, okay.
So then Sunday is vacuuming thewhole house, mopping where you
need to and catching up onanything that you skipped or
(16:35):
forgot or needed extra attention, and then like a light dusting
or deep organizing, it says, iftime permits.
That's pretty funny.
Um, so, anyways, after that Ilike okay, so I do my 530 wake
(16:59):
up time, I look at what needs tobe done for my business, and
then I look and see what needsto be done for my house and I
have a plan for that day andit's like something that is
doable.
It's like you know those likeplanners where it's like, okay,
if you only could do four thingstoday, what would they be?
And like you rank them and thenyou feel so accomplished.
(17:20):
If you just did those fourthings, that's kind of like what
this is giving me like okay, Iknow that if I could just get up
with no interruption and startknocking some of these things
off my list and thenincorporating my kids to help
with some of the other things, like maybe it's even like
packing client boxes or, um,even placing an Amazon order for
(17:43):
me or, um, you know, any of thecleaning stuff.
But the business stuff, likeI've had them, you know, put
together things that uh, go inmy packages, um, or take notes
of, like what I'm running out ofand I need to make an order, um
, so you can do that for yourkids, you can do that for, um,
(18:08):
yeah, just to get things doneout of the way.
One last thing that I want totell you about organizing your
life with chat GPT is also mealplanning.
Okay, so you can type into chatGPT and say I have these
ingredients, what can I makewith these ingredients?
You can also put in, like, yourmacro count and you can say
(18:31):
create a shopping list and mealprep guide for the week for me
with these, this calorie count, that and these macros.
Okay, yeah, genius, um, you canalso say come up with a
structure that's kid friendly, that's gluten-free, that is high
protein, that is, um, nut free, egg free, dairy free, vegan.
(18:53):
You can do anything like thatand it will come up with like a
you know, grocery list, groceryguide, um meals and recipes and,
yeah, tons of things.
So you can also use chat gpt toorganize your meal planning and
meal prep.
So, um, that is all that I havefor you today.
(19:16):
Again, grab that freebie in theshow notes that will help you,
plug this into chat GPT and letme know if this helps you
organize your life a little bitbetter and structure it.
If you are a creative like me,where my brain is just all over
the place sometimes, all right, well, let me know if you enjoyed
(19:36):
this episode and I will see youback next time.
