Billy Idol continues to make headlines with a mix of personal revelations and high-profile projects. Most notably, a new documentary titled Billy Idol Should Be Dead premiered recently at the Tribeca Festival, casting a spotlight both on his turbulent past and current chapter. In the documentary and a candid interview with The i Paper, Idol discussed the bombshell discovery in 2023 that he had a son he never knew about. His daughter, Bonnie, uncovered the existence of her half-brother Brant Broad via a 23andMe DNA test, tracing back to Idol’s wild Rebel Yell tour days in 1985. Idol admitted he was “maybe a little bit” surprised, but given his lifestyle at the time, he suspects there are no more unknown children. Idol’s relationship with Brant is now close; he describes them as “quite good friends,” expressing affection and acceptance for his new role, both as a father and grandfather. Idol also emphasized that sobriety has allowed him to be far more present in his family life, commenting that now, “I can really be there for them,” as originally reported by Parade.

On the business front, Idol remains a potent live draw. He’s out on the “It’s A Nice Day To… Tour Again!” with major dates confirmed for August 16 in Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion at the Mann, and August 28 at Pine Knob Music Theatre, where he’ll be joined by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Idol and Joan Jett are also slated for Saratoga Performing Arts Center on August 17, as noted in Q105.7’s 2025 concert calendar. These high-energy shows are attracting classic rock crowds across the country and reinforcing Idol’s legacy as an enduring live performer.

Social media is keeping the Idol conversation alive. On July 9, Darek Mazzone posted a vibrant pop art photo of Billy Idol from Belgrade, tapping into his iconic “Crazy” persona on Instagram. Meanwhile, Idol’s new documentary remains a hot topic in podcasts and streaming discussions, with platforms like Sound Up highlighting the film alongside other retrospectives on legendary performers.

Adding a splash of pop culture, Tori Spelling name-dropped Idol at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards red carpet, admitting he’s one of the only celebrities to ever leave her truly starstruck. There’s been no word of new album releases or unexpected controversies—just a focus on family, sobriety, and celebrating his place in rock history. No major headlines have emerged regarding Idol in the past 24 hours, but with the tour ramping up and the documentary drawing fresh attention, his summer promises to be anything but quiet.
