Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome back to my podcast Bloglight. My third
episode Integrate it into the blog titled Breaking Free from Comparison.
I am Lena, the blogger and podcaster behind the podcast,
and today I'm going to be sharing my insight and
wisdom on what comparison looks like and how to break
(00:21):
free from it. In this article, I want to discuss
how comparison can hijack even the most focused individuals and
share strategies for avoiding the pitfill pitfalls of comparing ourselves
to others, including examples of biblical heroes and biblical faith
(00:45):
leaders in the Bible. If you are struggling with comparison,
this world is for you. In a world where social
media highlights the best moments of each other's lives, it's
it's easy to fall into the trap of comparison, measuring
our worth against someone else's achievements, relationships, or successes based
(01:11):
on highlight reels and or posts. This constant comparison can
leave us feeling unfulfilled, misaligned with our true goals, and
questioning our own happiness and word, and even our qualifications.
Comparison is sneaky. It creeps in unnoticed, changing how we
(01:34):
perceive success and happiness. When we focus on the glamour
of social media, it's easy to lose sight of our
own journey and start shaping our lives around someone else's
highlight reel or story. Instead of feeling satisfied with our
own progress, we may feel ourselves doubting if we're even enough, qualified,
(01:57):
or even worthy. But the truth this everyone has struggles
behind the scenes. Comparison convinces us we're lacking, when in reality,
we are right where we're meant to be and we're
just seeing the highlights of others. Comparison isn't just a
(02:18):
modern issue. It's been a struggle throughout history, even for
Biblical figures and heroes. Each named hero faces unique challenges
and purposes in their lives, but had God and faith
on their side to press forward. Let's take David for example.
(02:41):
David was anointed king and a shepherd boy. He faced
constant comparison to Saul and even his brothers. But when
God shows David, he didn't look at height, skills, or
even status. He saw the heart. Though others seem more qualified, stronger,
(03:03):
and more impressive, God's anointing was on David. Even after
defeating Goliath, he experienced setbacks, but his journey reminds us
of one vital truth. Our worth isn't measured by human standards,
(03:24):
It's found in God alone. Let's take another biblical hero, Noah.
Noah built the Arc, obeying God's command, even when ridiculed
and doubted by others. He was instructed to build, and
he focused on that. His unwavering faith teaches us that
(03:47):
staying true to our purpose matters more than outside opinions.
His journey reminds us to trust God's direction even when
others don't understand it. Moses, Moses was chosen to lead
the Israelites, but struggled with feeling of inadequacy, simply the
(04:12):
state or quality of not being enough. He worried about
how others saw him, questioning his ability to lead. Yet
despite his fears, he embraced his calling and answered the
call of God. His story shows us that our mission
is in God's plan is unique. Comparison only distracts us
(04:38):
from the mission. Jesus, our greatest example. Throughout his ministry,
faced scrutiny and comparison by religious leaders, yet he never wavered,
remaining focused on his mission of love, redemption, and truth.
(04:59):
His life life teaches us that our purpose is not
tied to others expectation of others, but to God's calling
for us. Now, let's take some ladies. For example, Mary
and Martha, both godly women. Only one chose to sit
(05:19):
and listen while the other was hosting and slaving away.
Jesus and disciples were there. Jesus does not compare, but
simply highlights the importance of Mary's listening and priority. Both
women had different priorities, and Jesus understood that. Next with Sarah,
(05:45):
the barren woman who constantly nagged at Hagar, her slave.
Even after Abraham gives her child, she still compares her
son to the slave woman's son. No matter where we
are in life, we all battle this issue of comparison.
(06:10):
Bigger house, better life, more money. It's easy to feel
like we're lacking when we measure ourselves against someone else,
But listen up. Comparison doesn't define us. Our true word
is found in walking boldly in our own journey. Each
(06:31):
of us has been dealt a measure that only we
can handle. Comparisons are unavailable, and wherever there are differences unavoidable.
Whenever there are differences, there will be comparisons. You are
not alone. Biblical heroes wrestled with comparison, yet they embrace
(06:53):
their uniqueness and fulfilled their god giving purpose, and you
can too. Paul, the Apostle of Fate, embraces his calling,
and though his journey was different and painful, he learns
to embrace his trials to stay content. Contentment is a
(07:18):
state of satisfaction. Philippians four eleven to thirteen says, I'm
not saying this because I'm in need, for I have
learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what
it is like to be in need, and I know
what it's like to have plenty. I have learned the
secret of being content in any and every situation, whether
(07:43):
well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
The key is to stay focused on your own mission,
God's approval, worth and value. Value is not determined upon
(08:04):
others people's opinions. It is determined upon God's opinions. Let's
not be distracted by others. Now is your churm. Do
you struggle with comparison? It's time to get free. Did
