Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome back to my podcast blog Delight. Our
blog integrated podcast features articles covering a wide range of topics,
from faith and spirituality, to home, family, and everything in between.
This is our fourth episode on the blog titled Making
Room for Grace. I'm Lena, the blogger and podcaster behind
(00:22):
a podcast, and today I'm going to be sharing my
insight and wisdom on making room for grace in the
midst of daily life. Balancing life, ministry, motherhood, and maintaining
spiritual growth as well as other aspects of life can
be quite challenging. Managing daily responsibilities often feels overwhelming. This
(00:49):
is why we need grace. If you are in need
of some grace, then stay put. Making room for grace
is of much importance these days. First of all, what
is grace and how can we make room for grace?
(01:13):
In a Christian belief, grace refers to the unearned and
unconditional love and favor of God towards humanity. It signifies
that individuals receive blessing and forgiveness not based on their
merits or works, but as a gift from God. Grace
(01:34):
also means elegance and movement, showing a smooth and beautiful
way of moving or acting. I know I'm not the
only one. Balancing life, ministry, motherhood, and maintaining spiritual growth
as well as other aspects of life can be quite challenging.
Managing daily responsibilities often feels overwhelming. That's when I came
(01:59):
up with the idea of this article and decided to
share my wisdom on the topic ways to balance life
and activities. Here are some ways I have implemented this
strategy and how you can too. Ministry was taking over
my life as I focused on serving others in every
(02:21):
way possible, neglecting myself in a process. As a result,
I often burnout. According to Psychology Today website, burnout is
a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion caused by
prolonged stress. It often arises from excessive work demands, but
(02:43):
can also occur in other aspects of life, such as
parenting or caregiving. Common signs of burnout include fatigue, cynicism,
and reduced performance. The World Held Organization recognizes burnout as
a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress. Addressing burnout is
(03:08):
crucial for maintaining overall wellbeing and health unquote. To avoid
burnout from one on one session and constantly serving, I
decided to create group coaching instead. This led to the
birth of fire Start Ignite, a group space where I
could connect with others without the constant flow of personal
(03:29):
messages draining my energy even in my personal hours. This
community based approach allowed me to breathe, focus on my
own growth, and pursue my calling without feeling overwhelmed. From
this support of environment, my blog emerged, a platform where
I share faith, wisdom, and encouragement in a balanced and
(03:53):
fulfilling way. Was started as a simple website has grown
into something much more significant. Here's how I balance my
life with grace, with elegance and God's favor. Number One,
I stay connected to God's word. Balance started with prioritizing
(04:18):
my relationship with God an intentional focus of my spiritual
growth and development. I leaned on scriptures, study, and reflection
to stay spiritually refreshed in the early mornings before the
sun is even up. I recommend you Version Bible app
to start with. This app keeps me accountable with devotionals
(04:40):
and daily verses. A few scriptures that have been my
anchor in those seasons of life is Philippians four thirteen
I can do all things through Christ who streatens me
and Ecclesiastics four nine two are better than one because
they have a good return for their labor. Number two Journaling,
(05:03):
reflection and study. I picked up journaling, reflection and study.
Writing out my thoughts and prayers on a piece of
paper or journal was a game changer. Reflecting on what
I read and studying topics with a more intensive approach
was quite helpful and informative. Journaling my thoughts and reflections
(05:26):
help me process what God was teaching me, and reading
faith based books stretened my walk with God, challenging me
to grow and develop spiritually. Here are some of my
favorite books to check out. Boundaries by Henry Cloud and
doctor John Townsend, Learning to set healthy limits while still
(05:50):
honoring my calling. This book was quiet eye opening. I
have discovered, as well as challenged, my areas where I
had no boundaries and clearly outline them. The next book
that I recommend is The Walk by Sean Alexander, a
simple guide to understanding Christian disciples and different stages of it.
(06:15):
I read this book along with my husband, who's probably
listened to me right now. Hi, honey, we have been
learning much and applying what we learn to our lives.
Understanding Jesus by Stephen M. Miller is a deep dive
into the historical and cultural context of Jesus teaching life
(06:36):
and miracles. Get ready for this one. It is quite
challenging to read, but boy wasn't informative and helpful in
the long run. Number three I found strength in worship.
Ministry and motherhood are deeply fulfilling, but they also require
(06:57):
rest and renewal. This is why I intentionally set that
time aside for myself, because it is quite needed in
my walk and journey. I stay refreshed throughout the day,
taking moments to pause and reconnect with God. Matthew eleven
twenty eight reminds me, Come to me all who are
(07:19):
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Listening
to worship music, my go to artists include le Vassi,
Francesca Balistelli, Lacree, Rebecca Che and Toby Mac. Music that
uplifts my spirit and keeps me grounded throughout my day,
(07:39):
faith based podcasts and sermons, encouraging conversations that feed my
soul while I'm on the go, learning and growing in
grace and wisdom, with every passing moment on my commute
or running and catching up with errands. Self care. Self
care routines, whether it's journaling, exercise in running, or simply resting.
(08:02):
Taking care of myself allows me to pour into others
with joy, clarity, and sound mind. This not only enhances
my personal health, but also enables me to support and
uplift those around me more effectively, less but not least
(08:23):
balancing ministry, motherhood, and everyday life as a mother and minister.
I've learned the importance of time management, grace, and boundaries,
and it wouldn't be possible had I not read and
prioritized these books, tools and resources in my life. Prioritizing
task making intentional choices about where my time and energy goes.
(08:49):
I no longer spend time hours on the phone, entertaining
people or answering messages that have no value. I am
intentional with my time and energy. Assigning tasks and seeking support.
Learning or leaning on others in ministry and family life
eases burdens. I've joined the community of support, and I
(09:12):
lean on that support to keep me grounded and balanced
with my family and personal relations with others. I am
working on assigning tasks, so my burden of being overwhelmed
and burnout is lifted. Let me tell you, I need
grace in that area. I have to constantly make room
(09:34):
for grace and learn to be consistent with my words
and action. It's not always easy, yet it is a
challenge that I take on daily. Balance is a journey,
not perfection. It's okay to adjust and reset any time
you like. Motherhood has taught me so much about faith, patience,
(09:57):
and unconditional love. It is the Great His gift to humankind,
and I do not take my position lightly. I used
to be upset and embarrassed about my call as a mother.
Now I take pride and honor in what I do.
I am intentional with my calling as a mother, and
I am accountable to God. Some books that encourage me
(10:22):
in this season include Nourish by Katie Farrell, encouragement on
balancing wellness and spiritual growth. I absolutely love and recommend
this book over and over again. I have read it
at least three times. Girls Stop Apologizing by Rachel hollis
my latest read, and I am absolutely loving it. It's
(10:43):
about embracing confidence and purpose without guilt, shame, or condemnation.
Wearing your own crown and shining and let's but not
least thrive. It is in my car, it is on
my table, it is on my couch. By Arianna Huffinson,
Living intentionally, creating a life of well being, wisdom, and wonder.
(11:07):
For years, ministry and people in it overtook my life,
leading to burnout and exhaustion. But by learning to set boundaries,
saying yes to myself, and creating my group, I was
able to step into a season of balance, growth and peace.
If today you are struggling to find balance in your
faith journey, remember it's okay to shift, readjust, and redefine
(11:33):
what ministry looks like to you. You don't have to
do it all. You can balance it all. How do
I maintain balance in my life and faith journey. I
find quiet spot by the river, pray and release heavy
burdens on my shoulders and heart. I also take a
(11:54):
quiet nature walk or enjoy the silence of chirping birds
surrounding me. You don't get that every day in a
hustle and bustle of everyday life. Balancing life and activities
is the key to life and happiness. Learn to navigate
through it. Hey, I know this was a long article
(12:15):
and it was much to learn, but I hope that
you enjoyed this article and have learned a thing or
two about making room for grace. Thank you for joining,
Thank you for your support. If you have not had
