purpose to grow and make your faith work for you
in your carrier and business. This podcast is for everyone,
regardless of your beliefs, and along the way we will
(00:21):
also draw and encouraging words from the Bible to give
the buy insights. Let's get started. Welcome to episode one
of the Carrier and Faith podcasts. If you're looking for
growth in your career or business or unique guideas and encouragement,
this episode is for you. In today's episode, we will
(00:41):
be talking about imposter syndrome. One might ask why this topic.
This is one pattern at saying time and time again
in my work life as well as with people around me,
and so this podcast was created in a way not
to judge, but to provide ways to help walk through
(01:02):
this pattern together. I myself constantly have to fight this
pattern and some of the discussions in this episode we
include how as well as even more recent guidiance that
I've been getting from the Holy Spirit let's begin. What
is imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where
(01:23):
a person doubts their own skills, achievements, or accomplishments, and
it has a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud,
even when they are competent, qualified, and others see them
as successful. What are the key attributes of imposter syndrome
Self doubt This is when someone constantly questions their ability
(01:46):
and work. Another attribut is down playing success, where one
attributes the achievement to lock timing or help from others
rather than their own competence. And we then also have comparison,
which is a way where people actually believe others are
more talent, as killed, or more deserving than you. All
(02:07):
of these attributes they lead to one thing. They lead
to fear imposter sindrome. List of fear, a list of
fear of exposure, worrying others who think you are not capable. However,
I want to remind you today the fear is not
what God wants for us, and the Bible was actually
(02:28):
explicit with this insecontimenty one seven. The Bible says, for
God has not given us the spirit of fear, but
of power and of love and of a sound mind.
This verse, it covers a multitude of things. It covers
your identity. It says you have power, it says you
have sound mind. It says you are worthy. So whenever
(02:53):
you feel fear creeping in or imposter syndrome prepping in,
this is your first line of poundred. When you feel
you're not enough, say the word to yourself. For God
has not giving me the spirit of fear, but of
power and of love and of sound mind. I was
reading a book recently called The Veil. It's a book
(03:16):
by Blick Neely. In the first chapters of that book,
it does describe fear as a kind of faith. It says,
fear is the expectation of attack, of pain. It's the
belief that whatever you're afraid of has the capacity to
do you harm. Before that, elaborate and says that fear
(03:37):
is a kind of fate, which is a negative faith.
And so if fear is a negative faith, why not
turn it into a positive faith. Instead of saying I
can't make the deadline, you can say I have made
the deadline. Only spirit give me insights on the path
to take. We have to constantly combat our negative thoughts
into positive thoughts. It takes baby steps, so the moment
(04:04):
you feel that negative thought come up, immediately counter it
with a positive one. A positive statement. Did you know
that impostasy drum can develop from it? How you see
yourself or what others have said to you that has
now registered as acceptance. This can also be words used
(04:27):
on you as a kid. This means you might have
words that are very deep in your subconscious that could
also be CAUs an imposssy drum. Could also mean words
that are currently being used by individuals in your life,
either consciously or consciously, that are negatively affecting your thoughts.
(04:47):
I want to encourage you today to always counter those words.
If someone tells you you're not good enough, tell them
immediately that you do not accept that word and that
you are only who God says you are. Definitely said respectfully.
Definitely respect is important in this case, but you as
well need to be bold enough to counter it because
(05:11):
you're good enough and no one has any right to
tell your delights. In your workplace, if you feel like
your boss constantly tells you you're not good enough, even
when you're putting your best effort. Even when you're putting
all your best and this is constantly costing you to
doubt yourself. And you know you're putting your best effort
in you can counter the statements which I am good. However,
(05:34):
this output might not be sufficient. I will love the
feedback to be taggeted too the work outcome, so I
know what you would like improved. This does not mean
you should not put in your best work, because the
Bible in Colloss Three twent three to twenty fourses whatever
you do, work at it with all your heart as
working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you
(05:58):
know that you would receive an returns from the Lord
as a reward. It is the Lord pats your seven.
The same thing in Ecclesias is nine ten. Whatever your
hand finds to do, do it with all your mind.
This means whether it's carry on business, always putting your
best word. And if you find yourself in a new
(06:18):
space where you have no prior knowledge and you know
you feel like you're unable to get the knowledge, sick guidiance,
sik guidiance, don't isolate yourself. The Bible does say that
if any of your lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
who gives generously to all, without finding bolt, and it
will be given to you. This applies to something new,
(06:40):
a new job, whether you're preparing for an interview or
going for a promotion, and you feel doubt creeping in.
Remember you were good enough. But the Lord gives wisdom.
From his mouth comes knowledge and understanding, says perhaps two
verse six. This tells you that true intelligence and wisdom
flow from just acts, and it will be given to
(07:02):
you sick, and you will find so. Counter those doubtful
statements against you, whether directly or in your spirit. And
when you do it directly, always do it respectfully. Do
not let anybody make you feel small, because you'd not
be made small. Did you know that imposter syndrum is
(07:23):
also sinlestly in women. I'm in the tech space. I
work in tech space, and statistics in tech shows that
sixty percent of software engineers or a woman often report
frequent to intense imposter syndrome symptoms. Some sourceage even claim
for it that eighty five percent of women in tech
(07:44):
report experiencing imposter sydrome at some point in their career. So,
if you're a woman out there, I want to encourage
you to always see yourself in the image of God,
or we are God's and the work created in Christ
Jesus to do good works. Pficiens detend says a reminder
(08:05):
that you are not less sufficient. You have been given
the spirit of power and of love and not of fear. Also,
the Nivy version of secon timuity one seven actually says,
for the spirit God gave us does not make us timid.
And i'm reference to timid because women are often categorized
into that bracket and sometimes the impostacy rum actually makes
(08:28):
us a bit fearful to speak up, it bit fearful
to express ourselves. Or you are not temid. Rise up
in your authority and constantly meditate on and recite the words.
These words of God as not giving me the spirit
of fear, but of power, love and of sound mind.
(08:52):
Also find mentors and people around you who will constantly
put these words in you find your tribe. This also
applies to men. One piece of imposts syndrome which I
mentioned earlier. It actually allows you to downplay your success
when you win. Don't me celebrating your wins. Your achievements
(09:12):
are not male lot. The celebration of your wins actually
helped guide you to constantly appreciate who you were and
actually help you and encourage you to constantly remember your
authority and the power you have. You were made for
a populs. Your achievements are not may a lat You
were made to win, to give hands appreciate a win
(09:34):
rather than attributing them to others. I would like to
say that this is also a reminder for myself as well,
because in fact this happened to me recently. I prepare
the narrative and I got a lot of khodos, but
I kept on attributing it with certain individuals. Even the
individuals kept on saying, no, this is not me, this
(09:55):
is you, because minority didn't up like guils. So it's
important and that we actually just taking those appreciations, taking
those winds and just thank God said thank your father.
But this wind Matthew five sixty reminds us that in
this same way, let your light shine above others so
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
(10:17):
father in heaven. Your light is supposed to shine. You
are made for this to instead of dumbplaying thank God
for such a wonderful achievement, Paul shows us an example
if Best Coarriniance fifteen ten, he says, but by the
grace of God, I am what I am, Wow, And
(10:39):
his grace to me was not without effect. No I
work other than all of them, yet not high, but
the grace of God that was with me. So he
accepts the wind. He accepts that he was able to
He accept who he is and what he was able
to achieve. But it's still attributes it to God. So
(11:01):
I'm gonna cheer you on now and say, there is
a win that you've had recently, and you've not actually
appreciated God, or you've not accepted it as a win.
Here is a club for you. Another hat tripletery is comparison.
(11:26):
Do you know that comparison is a form of envy?
When you constantly fixate on comparing yourself to someone, it
means you believe that a person is doing something better
than you. It also breaths silent heavy and makes you
miss the great things you yourself are achieving and doing.
But we are all mediunique with and made to achieve
different things. It is better to focus on you than
(11:47):
on what others have completed. Let us not become concided
provoking and envying each other when you fix it sometimes
turned to envy and galicians by twenty six is encouraging
us to forget about that don't have each other. Comparison
(12:08):
and rivalry robs us of joy and unity. What if
you and that person you're comparing yourself to as supposed
to collaborate to achieve something beautiful together versus youth thinking
of you know that person that has been better than
you and not working towards how you can even learn
from them in itself? First Bitter two Nice As you
(12:30):
are chosen full a royal priest to the o elligion,
God's special possession that tells you you are unique and special.
Your path is different from someone's else's past. Asks God
instead for your own pack, your own puppose what it
wants you to do, how he wants you to grow.
Forget about comparing yourself to others. You are unique and
(12:54):
you are you. As a wrap up today, I want
to remind you that you know it is perfect, So
stop looking at others and think they're perfect. Only God
is In the sight of God. You are not less,
You're wonderfully made. If you ever feel fearful, and reminder
that Philippians for six says, do not be anxious for anything,
but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
(13:17):
present your request to God. So if you're worrying, if
you're concerned, if you're constantly fearful, always take it to God.
Ask God to help you through it. Leave everything at
the feet of God, at the feet of the Father,
always ready and able to help you. I'm going to
leave you with these words that you can constantly say
and meditate unto yourself. And it says and you should
(13:40):
say after me as well, For I have not been
given the spirit of fear, but instead I have a
sound mind. I am awesome, I am intelligent. I was
made for a purpose because I was made in the
image and likeness of God. God chose me me, and
(14:00):
he's still choosing me. And God loves me. God loves you.
That brings us to the end of our topic today.
If during this episode you felt a yearning or it
pulled to know more about God, I invite you to
ask him into your life. God sent his son Jesus
so that we can have an example of our power
(14:21):
and authority in him. You can pray this prayer with me.
If you're ready to accept rice, Say, Lord Jesus, I
believe that you are the son of God. I confess
that I am a sayer and I ask for your forgiveness.
I believe that you died on the cross from my
sains and rose again, giving me a victory of a saying,
and that today I accept you as my Lord and Savior.
(14:44):
Come into my heart, guide my life, and help me
leave according to your will. Thank you for saving me
and giving me internal life in Jesus' name. Amen. If
you prayed this prayer, please look for a bible, believe
in church, and continue to learn more about who you are.
God loves you. Thanks everyone for listening. If you like
