In this final episode of Season 1, I talk about what it truly means to have an innovative mind and why innovation is an essential part of our walk in both career and faith. I explore how God, the ultimate creator, has designed each of us with the ability to think differently, solve problems, and bring new ideas to life.I share how innovation shows up in everyday situations, how to ask the right questions, how to recognise the value of your ideas, and why understanding the “why” behind your work unlocks creativity. I also speak about starting small, researching the market, protecting your ideas, and overcoming the fear that often keeps us from sharing our innovations with others.Join me as we close out Season 1 with a powerful reminder: you were created to innovate, to build, and to impact others. Let’s step into that identity together.Follow @careerfaithpodcast on instagram and facebook.Visit abiwax.com/contact to be figured in our podcast.

today's episode. The title of today's episode is the Innovative Mind.

(01:08):
What does that mean? One might ask. I've talked about
a few topics on this podcast I've talked about strategic
thinking and result the excellent spirit, overcoming obstacles, and problem solving,
amongst others. If you look at these three episodes together,
innovation ties into all of them. As we talk about
innovation today, I want you to think about how it

(01:31):
plays a role in your business, your career, and in
the way you interact with colleagues. In the last episode,
I talked about how to get your strategy going. I
talked about knowing your customers and what they need. I
talked about knowing your organization and what it needs for
someone pursuing a career, and I talked about using that
understanding to create a strategy. Having a strategy usually means

(01:54):
creating something new or improving something that already exists. It
could mean creating something new someone else has created, or
even if it exists, creating it differently or in a
novel way. So when we talk about innovation, the questions
you get are is the idea novel? Is it new?
Has it been done before? Is it a unique proposition?

(02:14):
And while it might seem that many ideas already exist
in the world, people are still creating new things every day.
There is always a problem to solve and always an
issue to address. The point is don't simply keep doing
what has already been done. As part of your thinking process,
whether it's in strategy or in support of your customer needs,

(02:34):
you should constantly evaluate ways to innovate. Innovation should naturally
be part of your process. And like I've said in
many episodes, you are created in the image and likeness
of God. The uniqueness of oh you are is innovation.
The way God designed you, whether it gave you bed
or didn't, all of your attributes, all of that is novel.

(02:57):
The creation of man itself was innovation. Nothing like man
existed before God said, let us create man in our
image and likeness. So when we talk about innovation, remember
everything you are is a representation of God. God is innovative.
Therefore you are innovative too. One drawback I often see

(03:18):
is that when we also create things, sometimes we don't
even notice or realize their innovations. We treat them as
regular tax and never explore the ways that those ideas
could be expanded or shared. And so in this episode
I would also be talking about how to share your innovations.
So let's begin with how to include the innovation in
your thinking process. For me, innovation is letting your mind play.

(03:42):
It's you asking questions and examining what has been done
before and what could be done differently. When you are
giving work, whether it's a tax, a project, or assignment,
the first thing you should try and understand is the
problem behind it. Don't just accept the tax at face
val ask questions that help you see the bigger picture.

(04:03):
Start by acting yourself. Why am I doing this? Why
is this button? Why is this document, this report or
this request needed? Hor does it help? Does it up
the customer? Does it help the team? Does it help
the organization? Once you understand the why, go a level
deeper and explore alternities. Ask questions like are the other

(04:23):
ways the customer could achieve this? Is this the simplest way?
Does it have to be a button? Could it be
a link or could it be automated? Is there a
more effective approach that I can recommend. After you've completed
the work as well, you don't just move on. You
evaluate what you have produced by actioning is this the
best possible outcome? Could I have delivered it differently or

(04:45):
more efficiently? Is there something I could improve next time?
Or I would improve next time as part of this outcome.
This leads to deeper thinking and better outcomes. And the
point is you need a curio mindset. The more you
ask questions, the more innovative your thinking becomes. Not because

(05:06):
you're trying to be creative, but because you are intentionally
understanding the purpose behind your work and exploring better ways
to achieve it. You need to think beyond what you've
been asked to do. The Bible talks about being excellent
in what you do, and excellence includes doing your work
well and also finding ways to improve it. Innovative thinking

(05:26):
is part of your excellence. Innovation might not come in
every situation, but it doesn't change your curiosity. You should
still ask what can I do better in this situation.
Another aspect of this is having conversations with others matter.
Brainstorming is one of the best parts to innovation. Brainstorming

(05:47):
just on a whiteboard in a room, also helps pack ideas,
so think about the people around you you can bring
storm with to bring your ideas to life. Innovation shows
up everywhere, not just in technology, but in daily life
and across different industries. It appears in the small decisions
we make, the way we present things and how we

(06:08):
solve every day frustrations. You see it in packaging, in
our products, are displayed in user experience, and in simple
improvements that make life is. For example, one person might
present a umpire in a basket, another I present it
in a box, and someone else might create a full
on boxing experience that feels delightful. All three are hampers,

(06:30):
but the experience is completely different. That in itself is innovation.
Another example is travel perfumer fillers. These were created by
people who didn't want to carry a full bottle or
by separate travel sized perfumes. The solution came from paying
attention to a simple frustration. Or think about swim caps

(06:51):
designed for air full air braids, something many of us needed,
including myself, because traditional caps never fit they often get
your hair wet. Someone saw the gap, understood they need
and innovated. That's the point. Innovation often begins with frustration,
but it grows through observation and attention. And here is

(07:13):
the good news. Not all innovations require a huge budget.
You can start small the proof of concept. Do not
drain your money trying to build the final version. Immediately,
start with something simple and use that to gather feedback
and start meaningful conversations. Do your research as well. Ask yourself,
dear companies already doing this, what a day missing? What

(07:37):
made me wish something else existed? Even in the first place?
Even if others are already doing the world. Don't let
that discourage you. Your idea may still bring a unique angle,
a better experience, or even a different approach that the
market needs. And once your idea becomes clearer, consider protecting it.
Find a patent or trademark if you can, grant or

(07:59):
any funding and help you with this. And remember as well,
many countries, including Canada and the US, off a task
credit for innovation or research based work. These are resources
you can tap in to grow your idea. Another aspect
of innovation is confidence. Imposter syndrome often stops people from
asking the questions that's backbaric truth. Ask questions anyway, Asks

(08:23):
even if you're sure, Asks even if you think it
sounds stupid. There are no stupid questions. Sometimes the questions
you ask solve someone else's problems. If you need clarity,
ask for it. Let your mind be free. Curiosity will's innovation.
You also need to spend time on your ideas Most

(08:44):
people write down ideas but never invest time in developing them.
It reminded that God didn't give you those ideas for
you to ide them. It gave them because it wanted
you to solve a problem. Efficient sy ten says, or
we are God's workmanship created in Christ. Use us to
do good works which God prepared us in advance to do.
So those those ideas use them to do good works.

(09:08):
Do not iide your ideas like the servants in the Bible,
that it is one talent. See clarity from God on
why it gave you the idea in the first place.
Why did he choose you? Who should you talk to?
Innovation requires time and effort, and somebody out there needs
what God has placed in you. Your ideas might feel big.
That's fine, do not fear the outcome of your ideas.

(09:31):
One thing I also want to highlight, it's the importance
of actually sharing your innovations. Many of us create amazing ideas, systems,
or improvements, yet we keep them to ourselves because we
think they're too small, too simple, or not big enough.
But innovation grows when it is shared. When you have
an idea, talk about it, share it with your team,

(09:52):
share it with your manager, share it with someone you trust.
Sometimes people don't realize the value of what God has
placed in them simply because they never speak up about it.
Sharing your innovations allows them to be refined, improved, supported,
and sometimes even sponsored. Don't hide what God is trying
to use to bless others. And yes, there is often

(10:15):
the fear of others stealing your ideas, but I want
to remind you that fear is still fear, and fearful
thinking can delay your progress. If you don't build on
your idea, the likelihood that someone else will eventually create
something similar is very igh. Ideas come from God, they
also come with timing. Don't let fear be the reason

(10:37):
someone else brings to life what God first placed in you.
And even if you've been bound before, if someone has
taken credit for your idea or your innovation didn't come
to life the way you hoped, don't let that shut
you down, let it fail you. Keep creating, keep thinking,
keep finding ways to better bring your ideas to life.

(10:57):
Innovation is not a one time moment. It is a mindset.
And if God gave you the ability to innovate once,
it can give you the wisdom to innovate again. As
I also mentioned foul trademarks or patterns. IVE needed sub
meet your work so you get credit. It is okay
for your light to shine. It is okay for people
to know you innovated. Do not downplate it on it

(11:20):
share it with the world. As we wrap up, I
want you to think about everything we've talked about from
episode one to eight. What is ordering you back from
excelling and innovating? What is holding you back from thinking
beyond the present? What innovative idea have you postponed because
you lacked time or confidence. If none of this applies
to you and you're already working bodly and innovating freely,

(11:42):
I am happy for you, but I also challenge you.
How are you helping others come into the same freedom.
Verst bit of four ten says each of you should
use whatever gift you have received to serve us as
faithful stewards of God's grace. If you've over calm fear
and embraced clarity, I invite you to share yours. If
you're still figuring it out, if you're still trying to

(12:03):
come out of your shell, if you're still trying to
share your ideas or build on top of your ideas.
I pray for you today that God will give you clarity,
that God will give you wisdom, because the Bible does
tell if any of you lack wisdom, Thanks God who
is willing and able to give you freely. So I
pray that clarity becomes yours you embrace your purpose and

(12:24):
are able to drive with your ideas. Thank you so
much for listening, and I do hope this episode as
well as blessed you. If you're interested in being a
