Leaving his mother and sisters behind was hard, knowing what their life would be like living with his stepfather. Nightmares haunted him. Once he was released from service, he suffered another unfortunate life tragedy when he was sentenced to prison.

Max cracks the door open to continue his story. Desperate to leave home to escape the constant abuse by his stepfather, he enlisted in the Marines at the age of 17. He began having nightmares reliving the horror he had escaped. He turned to the staff psychologist for help. After his service in the Marines, he suffered another bad life experience when he was sentenced to a ten-year prison sentence.
