Catholic Daily Readings and Reflection for July 29, 2025 – Memorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus
Theme: The Most Important Question Jesus Ever Asked
When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” He wasn’t giving a theological lecture. He was standing at the tomb of a friend, looking into the eyes of a grieving sister, and offering the most audacious claim in human history—then making it intensely personal:
“Do you believe this?”
Today’s memorial honors Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, three siblings whose lives were forever changed by that encounter. This reflection focuses on Martha’s journey from pain to proclamation, showing how honest faith in the midst of grief unlocks resurrection power.
Jesus didn’t offer an explanation. He offered Himself.
This reflection explores:
How Moses’s face-to-face relationship with God foreshadows Martha’s encounter with the living Christ
Why the psalm’s emphasis on mercy reveals the heart of the One who conquers death
What it means to believe in Jesus as resurrection and life, not just believe in the idea of resurrection
How Martha’s “yes” models the faith that transforms everything—even grief
📖 Readings:
Exodus 33:7–11; 34:5b–9, 28
