Catholic Daily Readings and Reflection for July 24, 2025 – Thursday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time

In today’s mass readings, we witness a holy paradox: the terrifying presence of God on Mount Sinai and the gentle voice of Jesus calling His disciples to deeper understanding. Both reveal the same God—one whose holiness demands awe, and whose love invites intimacy.
In Exodus 19, God descends on Sinai with smoke, thunder, and fire. The Israelites tremble and beg Moses to act as mediator.
Daniel’s canticle offers a hymn of praise to the God who reveals Himself through creation.
In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus explains why He teaches in parables—so that only those with spiritual eyes and ears will understand.
