(00:02):
Hey everybody.
Welcome to Cirque to Soul, theonly uncut, unedited podcast
that's dedicated to helping youto find spiritual peace in your
life.
This is Gary and I'm joined bymy brother, Kim.
Kim.
Hello.
Hello everybody.
Last week we talked about how tofind your life's purpose.
This week we wanna discuss howto create and then follow the
(00:24):
path of having a purposefullife.
So today we're asking thequestion, how do you create and
plan the path to having purposein life again?
Last week, you gave a good guideto helping to start the process
of creating your purpose inlife.
So just to review, Gary, I thinkyou said there were three things
(00:45):
that the one could or should doin order to start on the path of
creating your purpose in life.
One was recognize your God giventalents.
Two.
Understand you're passionateabout that.
And three, understand your valuesystem.
If you can put these threethings into play in your life,
then you're on the way tocreating a living and purposeful
(01:07):
life.
I agree with this, but I wouldadd that I believe that you must
first attain us a space of peacewithin your spirit.
Okay.
Alright.
So what I'm hearing you say isthat in order to start on this
path of living a purposefullife.
One must first be able to findspiritual peace, so just
(01:29):
checking.
You believe that purpose in lifehas a connection to spiritual
wellbeing?
Yes.
So I'm gonna ask a quickquestion.
Okay.
And that question is.
What is your definition ofspiritual peace?
A spiritual wellbeing?
What, how do you define that?
And I think we need to know thatbecause, we throw the term
around spiritual peace a lot,but what does it mean?
(01:52):
What does it mean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a good question.
I kinda look, I think I've gottwo answers for that, honestly.
Okay.
One is, if you're comfortablewith your.
Religion or your practice oreven your meditation, if that's
what you're comfortable with, then I think you can find,
(02:15):
you'll have your spiritual peacebecause you're comfortable with
what you're doing.
I'm comfortable with mymeditation, so that's a
spiritual peace for me.
Now, the second part of that, Ithink, is that.
The higher level part is thatyou kinda remain at peace no
matter what's going on aroundyou, no matter what stressful
(02:38):
situation is going on, no matterwhat kind of problems you think
there may be, there's somethinginside of you that just has that
calmness and that peace, and Ithink that comes from, or your
spiritual practice, whateverthat may be, your Christianity
or Buddhism or whatever thatspiritual practice may be,
(02:59):
there's a, there's somethinginside of you that just, you
remain at peace no matter what'sgoing on around you.
So I think that's two, twofacets of spiritual peace and
that's my definitions of it.
Okay.
Alright.
Look, I did something, I wentout to AI and I asked the
question, what is spiritualpeace?
And it says it's a deep sense oftranquility, harmony, and
(03:22):
wholeness, often described as agift from God.
That's what AI said.
And here's a more detailedexplanation.
It says, beyond absence ofconflict, meaning, there's no
fight in between.
Wholeness and completeness.
Completeness to tie together asa whole when all essential parts
are joined together,transcendental, calm.
(03:45):
Spiritual peace is oftendescribed as a calm that
transcends circumstances orhuman understanding, a feeling
of stability and assurance evenin the face of adversity.
And this one is the one thatkind of got me.
It said, cultivated throughpractice while often seen as a
gift.
Spiritual peace can often alsobe cultivated through practices
like prayer, meditation,mindfulness.
(04:08):
Engaging in activities thatpromote wellbeing and
connection.
I understand what you say.
You say, it's this place.
But I guess I was trying tounderstand so people understand
what is peace?
What is it, what's thedefinition?
Yeah.
And it, that may be differentfor different people.
But to me, the ultimate thing iswhen you are just calm inside,
(04:32):
no matter what's going on aroundyou.
To me, that's the definition ofjust peace.
And I know some things happensometimes and, we react right
away.
But then if we do our practice, whatever it is, meditation,
prayer, whatever.
You kinda calm yourself and getback to that calmness.
You may, even if it meanscounting to 10 or something, but
(04:53):
you're conscious of your livingand you say whoa.
And you count to five and youcome back to that, that that
peaceful place within yourself.
That peace that surpasses allunderstanding as the Bible says.
I gotcha.
That example, we had a couple ofepisodes ago the guy on the boat
relaxing out in the middle ofthe lake and.
He another boat bumps him and heopens his eyes and finds out
(05:15):
that it was the anger within himthat he had no, yeah.
He didn't control.
Okay.
Let me a couple other differentthings.
A couple of differentperspectives on spiritual peace.
Christianity says.
Spiritual peace is seen as agift from God, a result of his
grace and a fruit of the spiritthat believers are encouraged to
cultivate in their own lives.
(05:36):
In my mind, that doesn't definespiritual peace.
It just says, it, it is seen asa gift from God.
The Hindu religion, it saysspiritual peace denotes a state
of eternal tranquility.
Atta attained through devotionto God and righteous actions.
So that's a, I think a betterdefinition of what spiritual
(05:57):
peace is.
And then Buddhism it says inBuddhism it emphasizes inner
peace as a state of equanimityand non-attachment to external
conditions.
Achieved through mindful andcompassion.
And in my mind that is like thedefinition that you just said
(06:18):
because it says, you peace.
Non-attachment to externalconditions.
I know that you've studiedBuddhism, yeah.
Yeah.
You know the first two that yousaid, the Christianity and the
Hinduism, I think is what yousaid.
Yes.
Those two requires a lot offaith.
(06:38):
Faith that, the higher beingGod, is giving you the grace.
You have to have a lot of faith.
The buddism part is.
S more that you have to achievewithin your own self.
And, Buddha, he did themeditation for years and years
until he finally found it.
(06:59):
And basically what he was sayingis don't be attached to
anything.
Stay in the middle.
Don't get too high, don't gettoo low.
Keep that piece right there inthe middle.
And that's the, that's what Iget from the bootle.
And it's hard to do a lot.
It's hard to do until you get tothat level where it becomes
second nature.
(07:19):
Yeah.
Okay.
So it takes a lot of meditation,a lot of meditation, and then
yeah.
Sticking to it, right?
Exactly.
You have to be consistent withyour practice.
Yes.
Okay, so we have now, put alittle definition on spiritual
wellbeing.
Now, I know before you said thatyou feel like you found your
(07:39):
purpose in life.
Last week.
The reason why I bought up thisdefinition,'cause last week you
placed big emphasis on quietingyour mind and learning to find
peace in your life.
That's why I felt that we had totalk about what peace in life
is.
Gotcha.
How did you get to the point offinding spiritual peace or, are
you're still trying to find it?
(08:00):
Find.
That's, I think it's everyday.
Practice, if you may.
I just think it's a lot ofreading and studying.
You know what?
I'll be honest with you, eventhis morning, okay?
I came up with anotherconclusion, okay?
Because you know what?
As hard as we try, we may try tolive the life of Jesus or Buddha
(08:23):
or Christian or Bobby Gwhatever.
They all tell you have to do itat, you have to do it for at
your own pace.
You're on your own spirituallevel.
And so I was thinking, Kim,you're not on their level yet.
You're just not there, right?
So you have to live your lifeaccording to where you are each
day and just try to be consciousof your living.
(08:44):
And I think if you're consciousof your living on a.
Hourly, minute by minute.
I think you can have that innerpeace if you are conscious of
what, of how you're living atthat moment.
And so that's what I try to goto, try to live at Conscious
Living at each moment.
And that's how I have myspiritual piece.
(09:06):
Again, I don't have it all thetime.
It's hard to do.
It's hard to do, but if you haveit in your heart.
You catch yourself and you bringyourself back.
That's how I've achieved myspiritual peace.
Okay.
That makes sense.
I understand.
Yeah.
(09:26):
It's not easy.
No, it's not easy.
It's not easy.
Let me tell you how I think Igot there.
Okay?
Okay.
First.
I don't know that I've reallygotten to the point that my
spirit is at peace all the time.
But, for a lot of folks, and Iknow there are a lot of folks
here, trying to understand whatit means and, maybe on a path
(09:48):
beginning this path, the way Istarted was something that was
totally crazy.
Totally crazy.
I started this path because Iwas suffering from migraine
headaches.
Believe it or not.
Migraine headache, huh?
Yeah.
So what is my, okay.
What's migraine headache have todo?
Find a spiritual piece.
Okay.
This is funny.
I've told you about, the caraccident and all that and it set
(10:10):
me on a path, and I wassearching, but when I was
younger, I, from migraineheadaches I remember.
And, the headaches, they were sosevere, I'd usually end up going
to the hospital and get a shotof this drug called Demerol.
And basically the drugs just putme to sleep for, 11 to 12 hours
until the worst of the headachepassed.
(10:33):
One day I was at work and, Ifelt one of these migraines
coming on and it was this olderengineer that introduced me to
this thing called biofeedback.
Okay, now we call it meditationnow.
Okay.
He taught me how to mentallyfocus on one thing, and when you
can focus on one thing andyou're able to learn to block
(10:54):
everything out, then you'veattained the level of living in
the present.
And then from there, I was ableto focus on the headaches,
whenever I felt it coming on andI could push it out.
Okay, so you know this thingcalled biofeedback, which is I
think morphed into what we callmeditation now.
I learned, and it took me a fewyears to master that.
(11:16):
It was, like you said, itdoesn't happen right away.
It takes time and it takespractice.
But it took me a few years and Iwas able to.
Get to the point where I couldlive in the present.
I could live for that momentbecause the only thing that was
happening was that moment.
I wasn't thinking about thepast, I wasn't thinking about
(11:36):
the future.
I was only thinking about thisone thing on my mind got it.
Is this act of being present, would you call that finding
peace?
I, I do up to a certain about80%.
There's also that I, the 20% Iwould say maybe not even, maybe
10%.
It's like your problem was themigraine headaches.
(11:59):
You could focus on the presentmoment.
I.
If your focus is on a problem ora stressful thing that you have,
that you're experiencing at themoment that's not peaceful
living, so I would say 90% ofthat living in the moment is the
piece, but it, I think itdepends on what you're focusing
on at the present moment.
Okay.
(12:19):
Yeah.
So that, go ahead.
Live in the present moment.
I, yeah, I think that's the bestway to get that piece, but just
think about what you're focusingthat present moment on also.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
But I, I believe that thespiritual piece is a part of the
process of creating yourpurposeful life, though I
believe that it's important,it's an important first step.
(12:43):
But let's get back to theoriginal topic here of how to
execute or plan for yourpurpose, okay?
Okay.
I know that you're a person thatlikes to break things down and
make it easy to understand.
Do you have a plan or a way tohelp people to live their
purpose in life?
I.
Yeah, you know what, again, I'llsay I'm one of those people
that, I like to have a plan.
I like to, have something tostart from.
(13:03):
And then, if you can establish abasis, then you can grow from
there because, if someonedoesn't know, they don't know
where to start, let me first saythough that I would agree with
you that being on this path offinding spiritual peace, it is a
prerequisite.
It's a prerequisite to.
Creating your path to apurposeful life.
It is.
And to answer to the secondquestion, I do have a simple
(13:23):
formula for planning for apurposeful life.
We've talked about life'spurpose and we're calling it a
purposeful life now.
But I'm gonna take a few minutesto explain.
Okay.
This is something I think, weneed to understand.
We all want to be successful inwhat we do.
I think that, that's just humannature.
Being successful in executingyour purpose in life, that's no
(13:45):
different.
Now, the one thing that we knowis that you can't just leave
things to chance.
If you leave things to chance, then you never progress.
You don't?
It's hit or miss, I'll put itthat way.
You can't move, you won't movefor it without purpose.
So again, I like to have guides.
I like to have structure whenI'm taking on a project and I
(14:07):
feel that, living your life'spurpose, it is a project.
It's a project.
Finding your purpose in life andthen working towards putting
that in play.
It's no different.
So I believe you have to planyour life.
Do you think any differently?
Does that make sense?
Planning your life, planningyour purpose in life.
Yeah.
I agree with that.
I read that living a PurposefulLife means aligning your actions
(14:28):
and decisions with a sense ofmeaning and direction, and you
have to prioritize what trulymatters to you, and striving to
make a positive impact in theworld.
In other words, you have to planyour life, okay?
So how do you plan, how do youcreate and live your purposeful
life?
Okay, look.
If we can agree that life'spurpose needs to be planned, and
(14:49):
I think we do.
Then I have a simple formula.
Okay.
Okay.
And we call it, the success inlife formula.
The formula for success iswithin the word success.
And let me explain this quickly.
I'm not gonna dive into it, butI'm gonna explain it to you.
So if you spell success, youknow how to spell success.
S-U-C-C-E-S-S.
(15:10):
Each one of those letters standsfor a step that you should take
in trying to live a purposefullife, I believe.
Okay, that first S stands forset goals.
You have to have goals.
Again, going back, if you don'thave goals, then you're just
floating around, not doinganything.
The you in success stands forunderstand the obstacles.
(15:32):
As we are traveling or goingthrough life, if we're going
through and thinking that we'regonna go from point A to point B
without any problems, I thinkthat's immature and naive.
Yeah.
So as we plan and we see thatgoal, we have to look at what
kind of things are out therethat gonna keep me from getting
to the that goal so that youunderstanding the obstacles.
We have to give some thought toit.
(15:53):
We have to think about how arewe gonna get from where I am now
to that goal.
So understand the obstacles, andthen the c create a plan, what
that plan does.
That plan tells us how to getpast those obstacles so we can
get to the goal.
So we're not going to be ableto, foresee every obstacle, but
if you can take out half theobstacles and plan for it, then
(16:15):
it makes it much, much easier asyou're going down the path of
trying to reach your goal.
Yes.
Okay.
That second C stands for createa Positive Mental Image.
As well as I know everything isabout creating po a positive
mental image.
If you can't see yourself doingsomething, guess what?
You won't do it.
(16:35):
So you have to see that you canaccomplish what it is that you
wanna do, and then e embrace thechallenge.
It's good to understand andcreate a positive mental image,
but you have to take the firststep, embrace the challenge, and
move.
And then the first s in successthat, at the end is stay on
track.
(16:56):
How many times have we tried todo something, set a goal and
then we get sidetracked?
You're in the fitness world.
I've been in the fitness world.
How many times do we see peoplecome in, on January 2nd, January
3rd, with the goal of trying toget in shape?
Yeah.
And then what happens?
Something else derails them andthey get off track.
Yep.
Yep.
So you have to be able to stayon track, and that's discipline
(17:18):
and perseverance.
And then the last s is show theworld.
You can do it, once someone seesthat you're doing something
positive, guess what?
They start talking about you, they start giving you more
kudos.
You get motivated and then youkeep going and you keep going
and you keep going.
It snowballs into something.
That's my simple, formula forsuccess.
(17:38):
And, I wrote a book on this afew years ago.
And the name of that book isconquering Doubt, A Path to
Success and Accomplishment.
And it's a very simple read andit's sold on Amazon.
So again.
I'll say, if we can agree on theidea that living your life is
purpose, it's like planning aproject, then this formula will
work for you.
(17:59):
I've shared it with many peopleand it's helped them to set
directions in their lives andit's helped them to, navigate
the storms in their lives andhelp them to reach their goals.
So living a purposeful life isno different than a project.
We have to plan to be purposefulin our life.
We do.
Yes.
I like this.
I like it.
It's really good.
(18:20):
And if people, if anybody hasany type of goal, no matter what
it is, fitness goal, businessgoal spiritual goal, peaceful,
whatever it is.
These steps that you set forthare really good.
And it's just a matter of justput, put'em in the plan, putting
them into purpose and plan andgoing ahead and doing it.
(18:40):
And I think people will seeresults right away.
We're doing track now and I toldall of our runners the other
day, I said, see it, believe it,achieve it.
That's just in simple form rightthere.
See it, believe it, achieve it.
And I've got them all saying, see it, believe it, achieve it.
Boom, boom.
See it.
Believe it, achieve it.
Boom, boom.
And you.
You have, like you said, youhave to, the positive image is
(19:03):
so important.
So important.
And then just stay with it.
Stay with it, and then show theworld that you can do it.
Oh, absolutely.
Your steps are, yeah, your stepsare perfect.
I like them.
Great.
Okay.
Yeah.
So let me say, because we are, coming up on the end of our our
time here.
So in summary, we discussed theimportance of finding peace in
your life are being present.
(19:23):
And we went off on a discussionon what being present means our
and spiritual peace.
And I think, we've hammeredthat, but we'll have more
discussion on that later.
And how that's the first step.
And then, we just discussed theformula to help us to find a
purples light.
Is there anything else before weget to our favorite part of this
podcast?
No I just I just, everythingthat you, we've talked about, I
(19:46):
just hope people will take itand receive it with an open
mind, open heart, and hopefullyit will help'em.
Great.
Okay, good.
All.
So now we're at our favoritepart of the podcast.
We have a story from one of ourlisteners, describing a
traumatic event in their lifeand how they were able to find
(20:06):
peace and get through the storm.
Today our story comes from Davidin California, and David writes
this.
Losing my wife to cancer was oneof the hardest experiences of my
life.
The woman I had shared my dreamswith, who had been my rock and
my confidant was suddenly takenfrom me, leaving a void that
(20:27):
seemed impossible to feel.
The pain was indescribable, andthere were days when I felt
completely lost.
Arif in a sea of grief.
During this time of overwhelmingsorrow, I found an unexpected
source of strength and solace myspiritual faith.
It became my anchor grounded mewhen I felt lost and alone in my
(20:50):
moments of deepest despair, whenhope seemed like a distant
memory, prayer became my refuge.
Through prayer, I connected witha source of unwavering love and
support that eased my pain.
Yeah.
As I delve deeper into myspiritual journey, I began to
see my loss, not merely as anend, but as a profound
(21:12):
transition.
My faith provided me with theclarity to understand that this
painful chapter was part of alarger divine plan for my life.
It taught me the power ofacceptance.
Not only regarding the loss ofmy wife, but also towards
myself.
Accepting my own grief andvulnerability was a crucial step
(21:34):
in my healing process.
My spiritual community played anessential role during this time,
surrounded by individuals whoshared my beliefs.
I felt a sense of belonging andsupport.
Their compassion andencouragement lifted me when I
was too weak to stand on my own.
Together we shared stories ofstrength and faith, creating a
(21:57):
support network thatstrengthened my resolve and
renewed my hope.
In the end, my spiritual faithtransformed my perception of my
loss.
What once seemed like aninsurmountable obstacle became a
profound testament to myresilience and growth.
My faith taught me to trust inthe journey.
(22:17):
To embrace the lessons withinthe pain and to believe in the
promise of a brighter tomorrow.
Through this experience, Iemerge stronger, more
compassionate, and deeplyconnected to the divine presence
that guided me through thestorm.
Wow.
Yeah.
Thank you David, for sittingyour story.
(22:40):
We hope that you have found somepeace in your life.
We believe that your lived lifeexperience is someone's playbook
for dealing with the storms intheir lives.
