Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are you, Tyler? Good? How are you guys doing?
Speaker 2 (00:03):
So I'm curious for you, Like when you guys add
a few different linemen on there, what how does that
not change your But what is your role when you
bring on new guys like that? What do you how
do you go about maybe getting them acclimated and getting
used to them?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Yeah, I mean you kind of said it, just like
getting them up to speed. I mean they're come from
a different system and you know, just getting them on track,
but just spending time with him too, getting to know
him as a person and individually as a player. But again,
like that's what how we have ot as right? And uh,
we've got a lot of guys in the building and
and shoot, we just had to fase one phase three
day to day one. So it's been great.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
You know, what have you seen from Jayden? Does he
is he the same guy? Does he look better different?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
He's growing for sure, every every single day that that
guy grows, and he's keeps raising the bar for himself
and for the team, and his leadership has been awesome
throughout and uh, you know, it's it's been it's been
really great.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Hey, Tyl, I get to say, speaking of him grow
looks like he maybe put on an extra little way.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
No, for sure, Yeah, for sure, that's that's too it.
I'm you know, he said, he said, he what he
was gonna do, and he did it, you know, So
I mean, uh, but no, I mean just as a
leadership too, just how it leads by example in the field,
but also in the weight room too, like how he's
doing his workouts in the morning, and but just send
the tone early, his big early bird. So but no,
(01:24):
it's been great for for what he's done obviously coming
off last year, but also just in the great trajectory
going into this.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Year for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
But what what goes through your mind when you see
a trade for tons Old then a first round pick
for a tackle. What is that gonna do for for you?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
For the line overall?
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, I mean, you know, personally, like you know, just
again like I said before, just getting them up to speed.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
But just great.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I mean, obviously tons isn't have having his career to
this point. It's been great just to you know, talk
to him about just ball too, and uh, but whether
it be get up to speed, but also again like
just building that chemistry just during this ota stretch.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
So we can amplify it into.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
August during camp or July during camp, and but also
to just you know, we have a lot of shifts
going on to inside and so it's it's been it's
been awesome to just uh, you know, vibe with those
guys and see where we're at right now and just
keep on raising the bar now so we can go
into camp, you know, flying.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
What's it like as a as a leader on the
O line knowing that it looks like there's gonna be
some changes, some new guys and new positions and just
kind of the complicated run stuff and even screen stuff
you guys run.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
You want to explain the second part again, just.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
The offense and the O line moving a lot, like
you're in the middle of all that. What's it like
trying to get new guys up to speed going into
your two.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Yeah, I think, you know, it's definitely kind of been
the I mean, shoot, through my career, there's been a
lot of you know, would whether it be on you know,
this team or my you know past, but just getting
guys up to speed, but also kind of like knowing
what they're like their touches on it too, Like every
everybody's different in regards of like whether it be body
type speed or how they see certain things. So the
(03:06):
biggest part is just getting on the same page of
whether it be like screens for example, you said, just
the timing of it in the in this the pattern
of how we're getting out in space or what's our
first read to our second to our third, but obviously
like having a lot of pieces from free agency too,
like we are going to be more dynamic and obviously
like with our skill guys on the outside, but also
(03:28):
our skill guys on the inside too, and how we
can get out in space. And that's just a testament
of how hard we're working to be able to have
that flexibility for Cliff too to have, you know, whatever
kind of play call he wants. So it's been great
in that regard, but also just to answer your question
to just having a lot of different mixes. But that's
where we've been at in regards of whether a guy
(03:50):
went down or whatever it is.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
You know, we've been flexible in practice for the preparation
of that.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
So you know, test to our coaching staff from last
or two and when we got in certain situations where
some people had to fill in or even when I
had to go out, when Deder stepped in, or when
Trent stepped in for Sam. So we're always preparing for
that and we're always having different combinations and different roles.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
But and that's the beauty of vtas too.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Again, like I say, for it's about chemistry, but it's
also about how you're playing with each and every person,
whether it be guard, tackle or even like tackle tight
end combination in the run game. So there's been a
lot of great experience into that. But again, like how
I said before, it's kind of getting yourself to a
level of confidence too with that person or that partner
that you're going into that combination pattern with, whether it
be pass pro or run game, and just kind of
(04:36):
keep on raising the bar each and every week that
you're working with them.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
Hey, Tyler, being the starting suner, being the guy that
sets the protections and all this stuff. When you have
to replace a guy like Sam or introduce these new players,
do you feel a heightened sense of responsibility to get
everybody on the same page.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah, for sure. I think you know that's been.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Just throughout my career too, of just like how can
we get getting better each and every year, but also
it doesn't just happened too, Like you have to have
this time where it is crucial to you know, ask
the questions early on, ask the you know, getting the
really small details to where like you can raise the
level of confidence to the player next to you, because
you know there's a lot of you know.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Quotes out there, but it's like you're not as good as.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
The like like the person next to you, Like how
can you amplify you know, this your success, but not
only yours, but the guy next to you too, because
you know, obviously two is you know, working with the
same page is better than one, right, So there's a
lot of ways of saying it, but the better you
are with one another, especially for old line, like you're
a unit, and then that goes for all eleven on
(05:36):
the offense too, but obviously the old line is the
ones that are working together probably the most in regards
of combination or whether it be pass pro or run game.
So but that's at a forefront all the time. And
just you know, obviously looking back at what we did
last year, areas we can improve and obviously we have
strengths too, and just to keep those and raising the
standards of that. But also making those improvements to where
(05:57):
we need to improve.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
And I'm sure we'll talk to you again when the
time comes. But when you look at the schedule initially
and you see that trip to Green Bay early in
the season, what are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 3 (06:07):
You know, closer to home for sure for me personally,
but you know it's if there's in that game right away,
So that's exciting, you know obviously, But at the same time,
like you know, you gotta look at camp first, right,
you gotta look at tomorrow's face two day first. So
but no, I mean obviously, like anytime I get to
(06:27):
see my family is a blessing, and you know, I
love them, and you know, obviously if that you know,
having a lot of family members there for me is great.
But also at the same time, you know, of win
is a win for me.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
So to come back and have not just Cliff come back,
but pretty much the entire coaching staff come.
Speaker 7 (06:46):
Back, how much does that just help you guys as
players as you build off your.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
One Yeah, I think it's huge.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
I think, you know, having the coaching staff and just
growing with them in a connection base of you know,
just how we connected so fast.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
You're one and how.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Can we make those like small detailed changes are just
kind of going through where we can improve, like how
I said before, but just the confidence there and just
the growth as a you know, a player, coach or
an individual, whether it be off the field too, of
just making that connection and you know, you know, having
that brotherhood bond and that is huge for sure. And uh,
(07:24):
it's been great these Uh this last you know, a
month and a half has been a lot of fun.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
Do any specific examples come to mind for you when
you talk about having increased flexibility in play calling of
the playbook?
Speaker 1 (07:35):
Anything jump out in what regard like with all.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
The new additions you're talking about, you're gonna be more
flexible and you know, maybe open to the play a
little more.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, I mean in that regard like how how detailed
we can be and how efficient we can be, and
whether it be outside zone, inside zone, mid zone, you know,
whether it be gap scheme, g scheme, whatever it may be.
That's kind of what I got to like. The more
efficient we can be and a lot of different patterns
kind of opens up the whole playbook too. And obviously
(08:02):
you know we're going to open up the playbook, but
in regards of how efficient we can be. It's uh,
it puts a toll on the defense of how much
they have to prep.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
So the better we can be, you know, we can
fire all guns.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
But by efficient do you mean like running more plays
out of different looks? I guess, like, what what do
you mean by efficiency?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Sorry, whatever the formation is or pattern of the run game.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I'm not going to tell you our.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Plays, but but no, I mean it's it's more so
just you know, our efficiency whatever it is, runner pass,
you know, and scheme.
Speaker 8 (08:39):
Yeah, okay, so just one for me then then the
last one is up for grabs everybody. Hey, Tyler, when
you reflect on last season, all the games are tough
all you know, it's hard to win a game. But
are there any other lines or defensive lines that you
all went up against that you said, you know what,
that was a tough match up, excluding the NFC Championship
(09:02):
game or anything like that, but in the regular season last.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Year, and like what direction are you pointing that out?
Speaker 8 (09:08):
So in terms of the offensive line, you all said,
you know, as a line, that was a really tough matchup,
you know, win or lose. It was just one of
those games that when you think about last year, any
lessons learned from last season? You say, hey, that was
a tough one that we can learn a lot from.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Like are you talking about the n FFC Championship game?
Are you talking about any D line? Okay?
Speaker 3 (09:29):
I mean shoot, like obviously, like you know, you look
at our games that came down to last year, and
you know we've been in some tough ball games. I
mean that we've come out on top of a win
in a lot of situational football, So there.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Isn't an easy game.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
And it comes down to just again, like how how
effishing can we be you know even you know, keeping
the pocket clean? And how can we make sure I
run game? You know you're keeping it you know four
yards on average, you know when you get it run
or like when you do get a run, Like how
effishent it came to be in regards of it's not
quote unquote maybe the D line, but it is considered
(10:06):
front seven for sure in regards of the box. And
we played a lot of you know, tougher teams on
stat lines that are that were you know, quote unquote
stats or stats, but in regards of like whether in
a good run game or you know, pass game defense or.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
So it doesn't just kind of evolve on the D
line side. But I would say, like, the more efficient
we can be whether we don't turn the ball over
in regards of how efficient we are in the running.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Pass, but they also to keep drives going.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
And obviously, like you look at our fourth down rate
and how we progress each and every week too. So
I mean I don't want to pinpoint like a certain
you know team or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
It's just more so like, you.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Know, how did how how efficient we we showed up
that given day, And that's at a premium every week.
So sometimes you know, it comes down to certain teams
or whatever it may be.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
But I couldn't give you a certain team at the moment.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
I would just say, like, we just have to be,
you know, locked into the little small details and you know,
keep that ball rolling and obviously you want to score touchdowns,
so uh, just keeping.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
It to be efficient. Tyler.
Speaker 9 (11:12):
You know, obviously you and many others came over here
last year and help establish this culture, build this culture.
What is that like now year two? To have a
really good culture in place, and one how do you
build on that? And two how do you kind of
be that gatekeeper of the new guys coming in this
year and have them hold to that standard.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I mean obviously, you know, we're a great group of
guys that you know, we want to help in any
way we can for the you know, the rookies coming
in or even free ages coming in and just setting
that tone of our standard. And we had a great
opportunity to for phase one just to get to know
everyone and kind of get to know everyone's story, and
our coaches had a great you know set up for
us to get to know one another, not even in
(11:53):
this career, but like what what was your story? You know,
just so you know, I could ask you like what
was you know, how what was life like you growing
up or whether where you were from, and but just
get to have that bond, you know, that first week
and and it's now it wasn't about Football's about just
getting to know the guys. So that kind of just
set the tone for like, you know, and now you
(12:14):
really know who you're working with her, what's their why
behind it all? Or whatether you want to go out
to dinner and get you know, you know, food and
just you know, have a chat because a lot of
guys come in for p freegency and they don't maybe
have a place right now, so just getting to go
to spend some time with the guys and just you know,
got to go out to a hockey game. You know,
I got to see the NAT in Nationals or sorry
the Capitals, but uh, we got to you know, do
(12:36):
a lot of cool events so far. And you know,
we keep binding and that keeping that brotherhood and keeping
that standard of what it is and to keep pushing
ourselves and have great competition within the game we love.
So it's been great. You know, like I said before,
I'm having a lot of fun. These guys have been great.
Can can can say enough good things about the rookies
(12:57):
that came in the free agious Thank
