Speaker 1 (00:00):
Love the mic, so awesome. Sean.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
First things, let's uh give a shout out to Santana.
I mean, what a cool thing going in the you
know ring of fame here. Matt just kind of cements
being a heavy hitter in this organization, and uh, there
has been a lot of them, and so I thought,
what a cool mom for him at the sacrifice.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
So pretty cool stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Captain wise, for this game, it's an offense gonna be
Jaden defense wags and on special teams Jeremy Reeves and uh,
these guys represent the standards who we'd stand for our
locker room and uh, so many remarkable examples of leadership
from them, and uh, you know, they lift others up
and they speak up when they're you know in the

(00:40):
times that you know leaders do.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
So it's cool to have them. And so let's get
rocking with you guys, get started.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Can you update on some of the injuries. Noah Brown
in particular, we didn't see him out there today.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
We were doing good.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Noah Brown and John Jones had a rest day that
we had planned in going in for the week.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
But everybody hit all the marks that we wanted to
be hitting. Everybody's available to get wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Everybody's available for Sunny then yep, okay, and then for
you have these three captains. For Jane to be part
of that group after one year, what does that say
about his growth?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, I think it speaks to uh one. I think
we've all seen like this poise. But part of leading
is also lifting the others around you and finding ways
to do that. And certainly the other guys who are
captains have just demonstrated that at such a high level
that how can it not work out if you're just
paying attention to Wags and Jeremy in some ways? And

(01:32):
so that's what I've seen from him, and so he's
definitely earned that. Some of it also comes from just
the work John, Like other players are watching, they see
that and they see how how much somebody puts into something, like.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
They take notice.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
That's the cool part about, you know, being in the
locker room, what.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
They stand for.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
How it goes like there's no bullshitting anybody in the
locker room.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
You know, it's like they know. And so what a
good example you know that he's shown.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
What have you seen from Jalen Lane justin his progress
from the start of camp to now.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I would say, I'm about progress, Niki.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
But one thing when he's back there a pumper turner
like you know, just growing up a coach's kid and
shagging balls all the time. He's got a real poise
about him in that space. And Tress is a difficult player.
You know, to catch punts off lefty, you can hit
different types of one. So I thought right off the bat,
Jalen had showed like a good poise. The thing that's

(02:26):
impressed me from the start of camp to now you
see the drill work for him, it can click. Okay,
this is what Bobby's working on with him on an
option route, and then he works the drill and you
see it. Sometimes you can see a guy working a
drill and working a drill, then you get into the
live work and they forget about that specific technique.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
You know, like in against nobody or on air. Okay,
I know how to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I can be mindful, but when it happens in the
heat of it, can you stay connected to that technique
And that's a that's a pretty you know, big skill
to have to apply that skill work into the scheme.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
That's when you know you're making progress.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
You mentioned Bobby, you see him all the time working
with Deebo. They seem to have a really strong rapport.
I mean, what is that relationship done for Deebo?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
You think, yeah, it's and he's like, he's a fun
guy to coach. Debo is and you see the connection
that's you know, taking place with him and Jaden and
him and Bobby Ingram. And so he's engaging. He likes feedback.
He'll give you, you know, when you ask him, or he'll
come to you with a question or something that he
had want to work on this. And I can remember
going into like the first memory that came up at

(03:32):
New England, he and Jaden both weren't playing in the game.
They were a long time out on the field and
pregame working on just a couple of specific routes. But
I'm pretty sure that also came from it. I want
to work this one specifically with you and finding ways
to do that. But Bobby Ingram, he has got remarkable
feel understanding coaching and having that view from the lens

(03:52):
of the helmet in this case.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Sure you know, I can see how it applies.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Hey, coach, Happy Friday, Happy Friday. So the league is
doing a lot to alleviate and quite frankly stop on
sportsmanlike conduct. So have you talked to the team about
that at all?

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yes, Yeah, we in fact, Fridays, uh, okay, we do
a lot of game management. What's the emphasis and so
around the league, you know, whether it's taunting, you know.
So we showed some you know, the examples that they
through to last night won from previous games last year
and so through Troy that's been a big emphasis. So

(04:30):
we do that one as well as you know, like
the illegal formations won. So go back through that again.
We want to emphasize the things that the referees are emphasizing,
you know, like if they're emphasizing it, well guess what
it's probably going to be called. And so we try
to stay on top of that to go. But yeah,
something that we do Friday's is our day that we

(04:50):
dedicate kind of to winning time game management. We go
around the league, and this because it was the first week,
we also did like the emphasis from the referee through
the off season, Hey, this was emphasized, you know, like
own this.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
And when you take a look at the New York Giants,
what are some of the strengths that you've seen or
you know or just know about overall on their team.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, well I thought it doesn't take long to figure out.
You know, you see in the talent at defensive line
and at receiver, just speed, athleticism, you know, strength and size.
Being with my defensive background, I like, you know, the
different combinations that they have, and then the same thing
at receiver.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Guys that can take the top off. They got guys besides.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So those are the things that you know, make me
you know when I first think of them, you know,
when we're going through the off season, you know what
they can do and how they feature players like that.
So there's always a little unknown going into the first game.
And uh but you know it's like you know when
I'd referred to earlier division games. You know, our won
two games last year within one score and then walk off.

(05:54):
So those are moments that you know, you got to
stay ready. And I think it's kind of fun to
have a game right off the bat, like these two
teams been battling for over ninety years, so let's get
ready to rumble again.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
Dan, I don't imagine that one game or one opponent
shapes how you want to fix a team. A roster
a position room. But that game last year against the
Giants Elik Neighbors, the first game was pretty tough to stop,
and your cornerback room is significantly better, it seems than
it was a year ago. How much did that moment,
that game with him start to be like, Okay, I
think looking ahead, here's maybe things we need to do

(06:27):
to improve this group.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yeah, I would say going into it, there were I
don't know if it was just that game that there
was a game before that one Ben that wasn't just
fun either, So I'll like, I don't know if it
was one moment, but we got to watch him a
lot because of another guy from the same school that
we were scouting at, and these other two guys were
remarkable as well, and so going and watching him early,

(06:53):
you know when they selected him. Sometimes you've been a
draftmans great pick. You know, you know what's there, you
know who they are, and you know, like you saw
the talent, the competitor, all of that.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
So no, we didn't love, you know, the matchup.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
On that first one, but those are the ones you'll
learn and grow it from and some of those scars
get formed and what do you need to do and
do differently, and unfortunately that's what we.

Speaker 6 (07:17):
Do every week head coach meets with the television broadcast team.
This week it's Tom Brady is part of that. It's
obviously a unique situation because of his role with the
Raiders and needs some access to you guys, you also
are playing them in week three? How do you approach
these meetings in general? And does the fact that well,
I guess we don't know exactly what his influences with

(07:39):
the team, how does that affect how you handle this?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, yeah, it's unique for sure, But they have a
job to do too, So I get that, like that's
our you know, responsibility to help them give some insights,
you know, what it could be, what could be there
for the game. So it's really just for this game,
you know, Like that's what I think about, but not
just you know, because of Tom calling it and his
you know relationship obviously with the Raiders, but really in

(08:04):
every game because it's just what do you have to
do to win this game? You know, the information here
wouldn't be applied, you know to another team in that way.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
Hey, coach, last night Cowboys Eagles played divisional game. You
could kind of sense the intensity there do you feel
like some of the guys obviously who watched that game
or looking at it like you know, you guys are
going up against the divisional rival as well, that you
can kind of see that how important these games are.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Now. Yeah, it's so much fun to be a part of.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Honestly, you feel the intensity and I think you're right,
like you feel that there's some hitting there is ready
to go. And so we talk about having the poise,
you know, making sure you want to go on the
edge but not over it, you know. And so the
things for us that are important margins of winning is
you know, the ball and tackling, and so we emphasize
that just as strongly to make sure those are the

(08:54):
ways that we have to go win this game. And
sometimes you got to look temptation in the face and
you know, not respond in that spot, and that takes work,
also takes sometimes and help with some teammates, you know,
when somebody seeing red, Okay, we move over here, you know,
get your focus back to go, and that happens. You
have to practice that as well. And we've had times

(09:17):
like that where you know we did that. We had
our Burgundy and Gold scrimmage earlier and we could tell
one guy was out of whack, and like, so the
next day, what do we do when this happens, This
could happen to anybody, just you know, black out, you know,
you're that space and so breathing, pull the other guy away,
you know, like find ways to protect the team in
those spaces. So, like most things, man, we just try

(09:38):
to practice it as much as we can.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
On that day, we had.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
An exercise, so I faked like I got into a
real argument with Frankieluvu.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
So he stood up.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Frank and I had worked it out before the hand
like it was gonna get serious. And what I was
disappointed about is when it started to feel serious, no
one was stepping in to stop Frankie, you know, from
getting into a fight with me. So I said, you
guys are gonna let me get my ask tier. But
we do talk about focus and in those moments it's difficult.
It's hard, but you have to it's part of the

(10:08):
game too, Like that's the world these guys live in, man.
Like if you could be on the huddle in the
field to feel this intensity, man, it's it's as hot
as it can get. And so having tools to like
you know, bring it back.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
That's a big deal. Afternoon coach Afternoon.

Speaker 8 (10:25):
Coming out of twenty twenty four, there was a lot
of conversation about how the entire offseason and ramp up
for Marshawn Lattimore in the defense would help him accelerate
his performance this season. Have you seen that kind of
effects have or take hold with him this all season?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
You're right, David's that's a topic We've not discussed a
lot because I think Sewn is just thrown one hell
of a camp. But you're exactly right that the communication
also with the other players, you know, that's a big
deal of it. Even though he plays a position when
you're all by yourself outside, there's technique involved, when there's
condensed formation and things you communicate with. Seeing that evolve

(11:03):
and now him able to share his voice with others,
that's a big deal. So I've recognized that, I know
his teammates have as well, where now he's able to
share insights and points of view that maybe he didn't
you know, during the time that he was here. And
so yeah, I'm certainly appreciative of that. And I thought
he's throwing one hell of a camp.

Speaker 8 (11:24):
And then generally speaking, when you look at like an
offensive line, when like the best lineman for a team
is maybe going to miss a game. On the outside,
we kind of look at it like that could be
really groundshaking, right, But they are also a five man
unit that works as one kind of where is that
balance between maybe your most important guy missing really changing
how a team functions versus how the team that's kind
of stay the same anyway because the other four guys

(11:45):
still matter.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yeah, there's certain spots that it's if you're vulnerable, you
don't just allow that to happen, Okay, you know, like
if we had a certain player get injured, you know,
we wouldn't just say let's just hope it works out.
You know, like you can't do that's irresponsible. And so
when those moments happen, there's like a contingency plan that
goes into place. This is how we'd help this, how
we'd shift you also in the same way, do that

(12:10):
on the opponent. That's just this guy's on one man,
he's getting off, and so you don't allow that to happen.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
In the same way.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
So it is part of the contingency plannings when you
put things in how do we help this, how do
we work there? And so there's a way to win
every game. You just have to find the right balance
and the right attitude to go about it. So I've
always been one to say, this is how we'll have
to win, maybe early on in my career, you want
to go just this way, and then all of a sudden,

(12:36):
this is where we are and this is how we're
gonna go win. So the adversity's gonna come, whether that
happens before the game and the person's out, or he
breaks his shoelace in pre game, you know, or this
is before his opening snap even comes, there's no difference.
It's even harder actually when it's at the you know,
before the game, you know, like a last night scenario,
or a guy gets injured on the first play of

(12:57):
the ball game. So you just have to address it
and be ready. But you always kind of keep that
in the.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Back of your pocket. Hey, this is what we'll do.
This is how we have to go play it. At
every position.

Speaker 9 (13:06):
It looks like Josh Conner, Lee and Laramie tunsil of
they spend a lot of time together. Looks like how
valuable of a resource has Laramie been for Josh.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah, I think for all the rookies who have somebody
like you know, for the linebackers to have a wagoner
or you know, the tackle to have a tunsil. As
a rookie man, you give up almost anything to have
that you know, to help you, to guide you, to
be able to ask good questions that maybe you don't
want to ask the coach, and so it just accelerates

(13:37):
that player. When you sign a Vaughan or a Wags
or a Laramie, you're actually signing more than just the ballplayer.
You're also signing him multiplying into other relationships. Now, like
most things, the young player has to feel comfortable. Hey,
this is when I like show examples. I want to
ask you about this. I want that, Like the vetter,

(14:00):
player can't read his mind. So it's a two way street.
But having a good relationship to start off with that
really helps because then it's you want to mentor because
of who the person is. And that's what I seen
because of the gratitude Josh shows back, like why wouldn't
you want to pour into him? You know, if it
was a guy, I'm good, don't worry about it, Okay,

(14:21):
Young Bell work it out on your own.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
That's not the case, and so it's cool to see
I did.

Speaker 9 (14:28):
So. You know a lot of the players have said
last year is last year and there's all these kind
of swirling expectations outside.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Is that right?

Speaker 9 (14:36):
Putting all of that aside, do you expect more from
this team this year? Have your expectations changed after the
performance last year?

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I really don't go into that space. I you know,
somebody asked me, maybe it was you know, a day
after I ain't going to do this again or do that,
and I said, man, we're I don't want to duplicate.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'm looking for this thing to go big, and so
I don't go into the.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Expectations externally with the team because I want to see
how good we can get. And so that's the challenge,
and that's really hard. Can our standards get higher? We
threw a much better training camp in twenty five than
we did in twenty four.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Is that going to be make it better? We'll see.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
But it was better, and so I didn't want to
throw the same training camp as last year, so it
got better. As far as expectations go, there's just so
many different variables from year to year. Who we've added
who we don't, So I just try not to look
too far down the line.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
Man.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
There's so many ball games, so many matchups, so many
things to do it so for anything, man, only get
our standards right, get our football looking like we want.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Taking care of the ball, are tackling, you know, field position.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
If we do those things really well, the story will
take care of itself.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
But I just don't try to look too far down
the line.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
And I recognize your question, but I just don't live there,
all right, Thanks coach, appreciate you.
