Speaker 1 (00:03):
The trade happened with Wednesday Tuesday. It happened so fast. Man.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I've been in this position before with the Miam doctor
getting traded in Houston. So uh, what I learned, don't
take anything personally and it is just strictly just a business.
And I actually before I left the building and I
talked to those guys to me going dickon, you know,
to see where kind of understand it just a little
bit better.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
And I do understand there's nothing personal at.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
The end of the day.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Again, it's just straight business. So yeah, all good.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
And then I'm curious, what impact do you think you
can make in Washington?

Speaker 1 (00:45):
What time Boston? Sorry to turn them back, Okay, I'll
repeat that. What impact do you think you can make?
What impact do you think you can make for Washington?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
I mean, honestly, I think have to make a huge impact.
Just talking from a players standpoint. What I bring to
the table pass protector, a damn good run blocker, a leader.
You know, I could be a mentor to young guys
in old line room, d line room, doesn't matter any
position group. I think I can make a huge impact quickly. Honestly,

(01:18):
you know, in my opinion, I think they traded. They
traded me. They traded for me for that reason, just
to make a huge impact on the team. So you know,
I'm down to do whatever they want me to do,
especially at year ten. If they need me to play
quarterback and back up Jaydon Daniels, then you know I
can do that running back whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Nikki, hell me, You've been through this twice now, Just
what does it feel like when you get traded? I mean,
how do you find out what are their general emotions?
Was kind of going through your head when you hear that.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, I've been I've been in this process before, and then,
like I said earlier, I learned and I take anything personal.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
You know, I found that out there.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I feel like they did the right diligence by you know,
giving me a call and letting me know I've had
a time, what's happening.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know, we just sat down and discussed what was
going on.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
So, you know, I respect the Houston Texas and Nick
and Demico for that, just you know, just giving me
just a heads up, you know, because when I was Miami,
I didn't get the courtesy.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Call from Miami.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
You know, I kind of woke up by my nap
and got traded, so at least this time was a
little bit different.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
So and when you when you do arrive at a
new place, what is sort of your process for getting acclimated,
learning the playbook, learning the rest of the line, et cetera.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
You know, I think the quickest the best thing for
me to try to find a routine, you know, try
to find a routine, and you know, getting to know
the culturees where the coaches stands, getting to know the
locker room, getting know the guys, just ask the questions,
you know, trying to learn the playbook to the best
of my ability. Probably trying to get to learn playbook
just a little bit earlier than you know, just trying

(03:04):
to get ahead of the things, you know, getting the iPad,
get in the playbook, talk to the guys, talk the quarterback,
went back, whatever, whatever I need to do, like I
try to do as early as possible.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Dam Heylo every sent fortier with the Washington Post walking
to Washington. What was the explanation from Nick and Demiico
when you talk to them before your left.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Pretty much they're just trying to keep the young guys together,
as simple as that. When I was when I was
a rookie, and I would talk to my og, who
was Brandon Albert and Jermion bush Ryde and Mike Pose.
They told me it's a young man's game, and you know,
I've seen it for myself. You know, they drafted some
young guys and they hit on every draft pick. You know,

(03:47):
they trying to keep those guys together. So I fully understand,
Like they just paid Stingley today, like they just gave
their boy their bag, So I truly understand. Like it's
no hard feelings, like at the end of the day,
it's a business, you.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
I don't think anything personal. There's no hard feelings against
the Houston Texas. You know, I thank them, but just
put me in this position, and I thank you from
everything they did for me and my family and changing
my life.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
So I get it.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Man, What is your impression of Jadon Daniels and what
will it be like block and form.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I can tell you this, I damn sure can't wait
to block Jada Daniels. He's a botherer and it's just
been seeing this this on TV and watching film and
it seemed like he's a better dude too.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
That from a lot of people just.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Run the locker room and h his teammates from other
show a couple of times. Just a good person to
bother us. So I can't wait make my job easy.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Thank you, Ben.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Hey, Larremie. I've been standing with the athletic Welcome to town.
Just curious how I hear what you're saying about. Nothing personal,
but what you weren't the only thing that Houston's changed
on their line? What kind of one? What happened last year?
Do you think that one sideways that led to them thinking, hey,
we need to move you because obviously it felt like
surprising that they would look to do that.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
What happened? Okay to me answer this first? What happened
last year?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Hm, that's tough because we could have did a lot
of things better, myself included, we could have protected tej better.
We could have It's a lot of things that played
a part into what happened last year. So I don't
think we should have just pinpoint one one thing. But
again I don't I just can't take a personal I

(05:36):
really don't think it was it was that. I honestly
think it was just like a business move, and you know,
a business move just trying to pay the young guys,
I don't think I had anything to do with the
performance last year or the old line performance last year.
You know, to me again, I'm gonna keep saying. I
know I sounded redundant, but you know, I don't, I don't.

(05:59):
I don't think it was any thing personal. I don't
think it was off the plate from last year. You know,
that's just my feeling about it.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Yeah, gotcha all good? And then obviously this is all
still pretty fresh. You're only speaking of those today, It's
only been less than a week. You're under contract for
a couple more years. Do you have any kind of
feel like, do you want to have a conversation about
extending you for longer than that? Or you kind of
want to wait and see mode and see just see
how things go here.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Ap in the front office know where I stand, man,
and were just gonna kind of keep that and me.
I know if I goes. You know, we got to
keep it in house. You know, we got to keep
the top between the front office and myself. But they
know why I stand. You know, I don't want to
say too much.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah, thank you, even ol Drange.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
Jarman, David Ald the athletic Man, Welcome to d c uh.
Just generally, what are some of the challenges we're blocking
for a mobile quarterback and what are some of the
opportunities that are presented by and for mobile quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Shit, I don't think it's father. I don't think I
don't think there's no challenges at all. I think it's
I think it actually makes our job a little bit easier. Honestly,
you know, I think the defensive ends at the defensive
tackleuse D line period, have the rust the quarterback just
a little bit of different. I think it's more just contained.
Just look at Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. So I

(07:22):
don't think it's no no challenges at all. I think
it helped me. It helped me look good, you know me,
help me get that all codeed Man come on neither.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Also chemistry and an old line. You know, when it's good,
it's great, but when it doesn't work, it's not great,
it's bad. I just wonder how does that How does
it work when you bring in You're gonna be the
new guy basically coming in, So how do you kind
of get up to speed with the rest of the
guys and what do you need to see from them
to help you get up to speed faster.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I'm going intoday they tradition like I'm learning any ways.
You know, I don't want to I don't want to
see my come in there and try to switch things up. No,
I'm going into how they do things, how they run things,
how they practice like, and I'm trying to insert myself
in that work off that. So I'm just gonna bring
my energy, my juice, and my knowledge of the game.
And yeah, let's have fun. That's I know, that's what

(08:19):
we're gonna do. As a old line, We're gonna have fun.
You know, we're gonna go out of eve, We're gonna
we're gonna do a lot of things together. So I mean,
that's what I'm gonna bring to the table. And I
can't give me these guys, all right, thank you.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Learm me.

Speaker 7 (08:33):
Chick Hernandez from w u S, a nine to CBS
affiliate here in Washington, d C. No disrespect. But if
you're playing quarterback at some point, we got some issues.
So when you watched the tape on Jayden Daniels, what
struck you first about seeing.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Number five.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Athletic smart can make plays whenever he wants to compose
Just to be so young MCJ have that that same
trade and very proposed, especially in tough situations. Now you
can just tell he was a bother even in college.
You can see he was a bother. Again, I'm excited

(09:11):
to be in his position, blocking for blocking for a
young guy like that, who's who can make plays whenever
he wants to, you know, and if you want to,
if you want to throw me a past and go
past you know, we could Yeah, hey, yeah make it's
odd all right?

Speaker 7 (09:27):
So you got good hands in a little and we've
covered this team all year long. We've seen the culture
in the in the in the locker room, in the building.
It's definitely a change from the decades of darkness. So
your first meeting with DQ and a P and stuff,
what what is that?

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I mean?

Speaker 7 (09:45):
Is that the case? Do you feel a sense of
of what they're trying to accomplish?

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah, absolutely, I do. It's a sense of what they're
trying to accomplish for sure. And the energy in that
building is is is off the charts. Everybody is happy,
everybody is energetic, everybody is you know, looking to win.
And that's the feeling I got from me And that's
something that I'm glad to be a part of I've

(10:10):
been hearing good things about DQ and I've been hearing
good things about AP, so I'm excited to work with
you guys.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Thank you, man.

Speaker 8 (10:18):
God, Hey, learn me Scott Abraham, ABC seven here in DC,
Welcome to Washington. Obviously you've stated, you know this is
a business. You don't take it personally, but getting traded intrinsically,
how does that maybe motivate you or give you an
extra chip on your shoulder as you come to Washington to.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Be hot a guy, I gotta chip on my shoulder
every year just try to prove everything wrong. I think
that's not what just like the opposite teams or the
media or whatever. I think that's just with myself. I'm
kind of just like challenging myself to find new challenges
in my game to get better at. And so every
year I try to find something like I can do

(10:57):
this better, I want to do this better, or I
want to be known for this, you know, so I.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Kind of just put that chip on my shoulder by myself.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
It's really just me versus me at the end of
the day, you know, especially it's a lot of things
I want to work on like those nine those nineteen,
those nineteen penalties I had last season was uncceptable.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
So that's something I.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Want to address for so getting that number down or
even having done, you know, I want to keep going
as a player, honestly, as as blocker, run blocker, it
doesn't matter, you know, I'm always trying to improve in
each of those fields.

Speaker 8 (11:30):
So you have a remarkable resume, you know, Pro Bowls,
all pros. Is this a place you feel like you
can get a Lombardi because obviously, I'm sure that's the
one thing on your resume that you really want. You
want to play in a super Bowl. When you look
at this team and the piece is already in place, Laramie,
why do you believe maybe you can hoist the Lombardi here?

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Uh? This guy's the limit for this team, honestly, man,
just watching his team on film last year, tremendous team
topped the bottom, special team, defense, offense, trim minous team.
I think AP and d Q put a great take
together and just added a few more pieces out of myself.
It's only gonna make it better, you know what I mean.
The guy's limits was that that is the that is

(12:10):
the last thing I have in my list. That's that's
the tech mark. You know, I'd be happy just to
damn sure hold that Chosren hold the children up. My
baby can't wait.

Speaker 8 (12:21):
Thanks Larry.

Speaker 7 (12:22):
We have time for two more questions.

Speaker 9 (12:24):
We'll go David Harrison and then Donna Hopkins.

Speaker 10 (12:28):
Hey, larum me, how you doing man? Welcome, Welcome to DC.
Appreciate I wanted to Yeah, I want to ask you
so obviously. You know he saw player hits thirty years old,
that that conversation starts happening around you, whether it's happening
internally or not. You look at a guy like Trent
Williams and he's, you know, six years and some change
older than you. What are you doing to make sure
that six years has change from now you're still a

(12:49):
Pro Bowl caliber left tacking.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I think I invest a lot on my body.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
I'll come to Auburn, Alabama every off season and work
with my guy. It's Dozinski, who's ahead strength of the
Strength Coast for the Universe of Armen. And you know
we were always planning like how to just how to
just take care of the body, how to continue to
just sharpen our tools. You know, we've been doing a
good job so far. Man, I think I've been plused

(13:16):
being this position going on year ten, didn't have no
major injuries, play all seventeen plus plus on. I think
that's my family right here, just coming coming to Alabama
and working with my guys.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
It's been working. And also in the season, I just
invested lot it to my body.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
It doesn't matter what it is, IV's massage is whatever, like, uh,
it's a lot of things that you're invest in.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Like I'm gonna do a routine. So six years with that,
six years from now when it be year sixteen. Yeah,
I keep your roll, man, keep.

Speaker 8 (13:52):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Thank you.

Speaker 9 (13:54):
Hey, Laramie Donald Hopkins Pro Football Plus, could you talk
a little bit about your handprint. You talked a little
bit about being a leader, want to be a mentor
and really jump start quickly. But do you believe that
the best is yet to come? Even with you being
a veteran as you are, the best is yet to
come with what you have to offer moving forward with

(14:17):
your new team.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yeah, absolutely, I think the best is yet to come.
Just for my opinion, just me personally, I feel like
I'm sing my mind and I'm only getting better. So
I take it serious I take, I take putting in
work serious. I take like always trying to perfect my
craft and get better at the things that I'm already

(14:39):
good at or things I need to work on, like,
I'm always trying to find ways get better.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
So yes, for sure, I absolutely think so.

Speaker 9 (14:47):
Thank you and welcome to Washington.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Thank you, awesome, thank you, Laramie. All right, cool, that's it.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Yeah, that's all all right.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Cool, I'll let you go.

Speaker 8 (14:58):
Thanks Ermie,
