Speaker 1 (00:00):
Going on again. Just what's the level for you? I
guess frust if it's frustration, disappointment to have him not
be available again to try and build on something, get
some momentum going.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah, it's you know, been a tough season on him.
There's no doubt that's football. It's unfortunate that that that's happened.
But you know, offensively, we've got to keep building and
try to get better. Sunday wasn't acceptable on any level,
coaching or playing, and so that's our main focus now
this week is making some massive improvements before Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
I don't know if there are any design runs for him Sunday.
I don't remember any. But did that did his elbow
play into that? And look at the goal line area too,
like you often have used those out there? Did that
play into how you call the game at all?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
We were going to be smart in some areas and
try to limit any exposure if we could, but unfortunately,
you know, part of the game and that ended up happening.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
I know we only have like what seven games, but
are you able to just assess kind of what you
thought of his play overall in that time? I mean,
has he done a lot of the things you want,
has he.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah, I would just say offensively, we you know, with
him really from the spring on through training camp, just
we were never able to get into a rhythm with everybody.
Enough practices strung together, enough games strung together, just practicing consistently,
it just wasn't able to happen. And so I think

(01:33):
it's hard to really assess what that looked like based
on just we never had consistent practice or rhythm or
anything of that nature, whether he was banged up or
you know, other guys were out.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
What about the O line, what have you seen from them?
It seems like they've been among more consistent groups.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah, I think, you know, the ability to be available
has been huge. Just that their health has helped. Anytime
you keep a group like that together for as many
games we've had them healthy has been really big and
they've built together. And I think the physicality up front
running the football well at times has really shown. And
then you know LT is a dominant player. I think

(02:13):
Josh has improved tremendously. So yeah, that's been a bright
spot in a tough year.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Cliff.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
Getting back to the practices for a veteran group, when
you have a lot of guys coming back. What is
the benefit of OTA's going into camp and just kind
of getting a cadence and a rhythm with that group together.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, I mean, obviously I'm from the quarterback perspective, offensive
minded perspective. You know, as many of those on the
field reps, the timing with receivers, the cadences with the
O line, the mesh points for the running backs. As
much as that as you can get prior to your
first game, and then as much as you can get
in season, I think is paramount to playing good football

(02:54):
and good offensive football. And I thought, you know, last
year we were able to stay healthy in some position,
and especially at Jayden, just day after day after day
working at his craft, practicing, practicing, getting better, and we
just weren't able to have the consistency or the amount
of practice reps that we would have liked.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Talking about not being able to get all the practice
time that you wanted, how has that affected your ability
to call plays in game and kind of the way
that you want to and if you felt kind of
limited in what you can do because you haven't had
that time on the field.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, you know, it's been a unique year in that
we've been trying to win games differently than we did
last year, trying to do different things, possess the ball,
you know, run the football and played our strengths and
last year we had some other stuff going on, we
were able to play a little bit more wide open.
So I think more than anything, it's just availability of

(03:46):
players and just trying to maximize who we are to
really just win the game. The recipe we felt was
different this year to try and win the game, and
so that's how we played.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
Obviously, to lose Zach the way he did is you know,
tough on a lot of levels of what's going forward.
Obviously Benson at Colson Yankoff in theory should be getting
more work. What do you hope to see from them
for these last games and how important is it to
be shaped what next year it looks like.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Yeah, I think it's really critical for them to continue
to develop and progress, and they have in the roles
that we've asked him to be in. It's just with
a guy like Zach, you don't take him off the
field and a lot of critical situations, so they're going
to get their opportunity in some of those situations and
I'm sure they're they're up to the challenge, but we
want to see him when they do get the opportunity,

(04:31):
you know, make the play and do the right thing
and and uh, you know, show poison doing.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
It to the point of some younger guys. With Jalen Lane,
obviously his playing time is fluctuated depending on who's been healthy.
Same sort of thing with him, What are you are
you hoping to see something from him in these last
four games and that maybe you just haven't seen yet
out of him up so far.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, he's had some flashes. I think as a rookie
you see some of the ups and downs, but very
consistent worker. It's just getting Noah back, you know, with
Trey emerging some that that's just limited to some of
his reps.

Speaker 7 (05:03):
Coach and talking about having nor back with the first
time probably in the long time you've had all of
your receivers back. What is it that you did not
see last week? What's going on last week in getting
ready to go up to the Meadlelands and play the Giants?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, I would say last week just first off, you know,
need a better game plan called better plays. It starts
there and then just the execution part consistently wasn't there.
And you got to give a lot of credit to
Minnesota and their defensive staff just kind of keeping us
on our heels, particularly when we got behind. They made

(05:41):
it tough. But I think just time on task throughout
this week. Hopefully with those guys being back, another week
of consistent practice with them on the field should alleviate
some of that and hopefully we play a crisper.

Speaker 7 (05:52):
Game and running back wise facing the Giants this week,
they've struggled as far as stopping the run. How do
you see your running game going into the Giants game
this week?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah, it's it's been the best thing that we've done.
So we got to definitely lean on that and have
been really proud of Chris and you know, his kind
of progress throughout the year and he's really playing on
a high level right now, so that that's has to be,
you know, how we win these games moving forward.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
Hey, their coach, So with what just happened, you know
with Minnesota, how do you stay motivated to just kind
of just coming back from that.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, I think if you're a competitor, you know, you
should be more motivated than ever after a game like that.
You know, scoring zero points shouldn't happen in the NFL,
and for us to go out there and do that,
I think all of us are chomping on the bid
to get back out there and show that that's not
who we are. It just, you know, was a bad game,
and I think that is the sentiment of the offense.

(06:55):
And so I'm excited to see how we attack the
rest of the week and attack Sunday.

Speaker 8 (06:59):
With that being said, so this, you know, is the
second time you all will see the Giants this year.
So what have you seen in film from them since
Week one to now?

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, they've been in all the games. I mean, I
think that's watching them. It's just been a tough year
for them as far as finishing games. They've had double
digit leads and a ton of games. The play styles there,
they're playing hard. It just hasn't worked out for him
in the end. And so I think that's what I've
been most impressed by. Regardless of the coaching changes, whoever's
calling the defense, whoever's calling the offense, they played really hard.

(07:30):
They play to win, and so it'll be a tough
challenge for us.

Speaker 9 (07:34):
It's obviously easy to second guest play calls when things
don't work out. But a critical moment in that Minnesota
game was the first drive and you called three pass
plays there from the one or the two. What was
your thought process there and as you're thinking changed, I
guess as you've looked back at that particular sequence postgame.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, I mean it always does. You know, there's thirty
plays in that game. I wish I'd call something differently,
and I wish one of those plays would have worked,
but they didn't unfortunately. So that's I think the nature
of a play caller. But you know, there weren't a
lot of great play calls in that game. And that's,
like I said, that's all me and I gotta get better.

Speaker 8 (08:12):
Seems like since around the midseason mark, Josh Connerly has
played a lot better, particularly in pass protection.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
What sort of growth have you seen from him this season?

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (08:19):
He has.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
I mean I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago.
Just some of the tough pass rushers he started his
career with. So to see him settle in, not get down,
continue to work hard, it has been good. And I
think the run game stuff has improved, past game stuff
has improved, and the game has just slowed down for him,
So this last month I think is really big for
his development. Continued to build him the offseason and then

(08:40):
needs to have a great offseason.

Speaker 10 (08:42):
Hey, coach with Laramie.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
Obviously, his riputation as a pass protector is pretty well known.
But in the run game, what have you seen from
him so far this year?

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yeah, that I think jumped off to me more than
anything this season is just how he can move bodies
in the run game. We've really leaned on him and
his pall at times and critical situations, and they have
been really good inside there. So I think that's where
I didn't expect as much. I knew he was a
dominant pass protector, but the run game of stuff has

(09:12):
been phenomenal. He's saying a lot of pride in it
since he's been here and showing us he can do that.

Speaker 10 (09:19):
I don't know if there's been another instance in your
career where you've had a similar situation where the starting
quarterback has been injured as much as Jayden has. If
there was, what did you learn from that experience and
how to handle you know, the difference between Jaden and Marcus,
because obviously it's difficult to replicate what Jayden does.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, it is. I think you always just want to
tailor it to the whichever quarterback is playing, maximize his
strengths and make sure you understand what he likes play
call wise, and just build it around him as best
you can. But it's you know, more difficult for the
player to come in and out like that and not
get the game reps and not get the practice reps

(09:57):
and then then to try and go out there and perform.
That is for me to call. I would say thank y'all.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Minnesota somebody, and sometimes fake.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Up impact that it it did not. No, yeah didn't.
Thanks
