Speaker 1 (00:13):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Just with DQ taking over DC responsibilities, has that changed
anything for you just as you prepare the offense, It hasn't.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
You know. We've been trying different ways to try and
maximize the personnel and win games. But other than that,
it hasn't changed our process or the routine.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
In your preparation. Obviously, there's Madrid happening as well. At
this point. Have you and the offense been able to
do anything else besides football?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Uh? Yeah, I mean, I know they've been out to dinners.
I haven't done much early in the week. It's pretty
much just trying to get game plan get scripted up.
But huge fan of the city, been here before on
vacations and so it's been awesome. I think there's probably
three guys that have been here prior sobody else. It's
been a new experience and it's been cool to see
them enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Cliff, how challenging has this year been for you with
all the in and outs and different lineups and different receivers.
What's the challenge been like for you to muster put
together an offer.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, it's been. It's been interesting, there's no doubt, and
I think you know it started in the spring just
trying to figure out who was going to be up,
who's going to be playing, who was healthy, and so
as coaches, you know, our job is to maximize who
we have and try to score points and win games
the best way we can. And so as a staff,
it's been a unique experience. But I think every year
(01:36):
you learn more and more about yourself as a coach,
your team, and kind of how you want to do things.
And we're just kind of going through that this year.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Coach right here just looking ahead to Senday's games. How
difficult is it just to prep knowing that you don't
have perhaps your your best options on the field, And
every week it's been different. And just the follow up
question we've been asking all the players and coaches regarding
just the expansion of them. Did you ever imagine growing
up that you would be here coaching an NFL game
(02:05):
in Madrid, Spain.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, it's been a challenge, but I've been really proud
of the guys that have stepped up. I thought last
week some guys made plays for us that had just
got here and are playing hard, playing with a great effort.
We just got to find a way to make a
few more plays. But yeah, I actually played an NFL
Europe so that was an awesome experience. I got to
see some incredible plays I never would have gotten to.
(02:27):
So for our players to get a chance to do
that and see the fan fare and just the excitement
in the city, it's really special.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Hey, coach, now that you've had the offensive line in
place for a while, now, what are you seeing from
those guys as far as them jelling.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, it's been been a good group, you know. I
think we've had the same starting lineup in for about
three weeks straight, which has been nice, and I think
each week we've gotten better as a unit. I think
watching Josh kind of come along has been really exciting.
And then Sam Cosmy getting his legs back has definitely
an prove But that has been a consistent group for
(03:02):
us this season and we've needed it.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Hey, good after him, Coach Chris Rodriguez been geting a
little bit more work recently.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
Just I know he impressed you guys with his body
transformation in the off season.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
As we've gotten through the year, kind of what has
stood out about his development?
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, I think just consistency in his play. I mean,
you guys see it anytime he's called upon to get
it done, to get the tough yard. He gets it,
and he puts the ball in the right place. He
always finds the whole and he's going to maximize his opportunities.
And I think his teammates respect that. I know the
coaching staff does as well.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
Ector on you from High Sport TV after these difficulties
on how do you work on the mental side of
your players in your offense?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, that's a great question. I think just consistency in
our approach as a coach. You never want to get
too high or too low and make sure they don't
feel any sort of panic button or so full of
sell Hey, we're going to change all of this. It's
just trying to get better each and every day and
show those improvements no matter who's playing. And so I
think our group's done a nice job of just showing
up every day as a pro and continue to work hard.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Coaching. Coming down there were literally airports full of Commanders
fans that were traveling all this way to see you
all play. What does it mean to you all as
a team to know that, regardless of the wins and
losses on the season, that this fan base supports you all.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Yeah, the fan base has been phenomenal. I think it's,
you know, one of the top ones in the NFL,
not the top, just the passion they have for the
Commander's organization and the support. And I know a lot
of people had this one circle on their calendars and
I've seen a bunch of fans in the streets, So
it means a lot to us, and we're definite gonna
go out there and trying to make them proud.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
Hi, got I would like to ask you about everything
you wrote from the States. I mean, how many tons
of helmets, boots joining eqipment. This was something difficult to
prepare for this game.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, you just try to get ahead before we left
quite a bit, you know, knowing that there'll be a
lot of moving parts when we got here. But once
you got here, it's been pretty much business and practice
as usual, pretty similar schedule, and just got to make
sure you don't let the city in the new space
be a distraction for you and just focus on the
(05:12):
main thing, which is winning the game.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
All right, clip, This is a philosophical question, so there's
a lot of I guess discussion about under center pistol shotgun.
You guys are so much pistol shotgun. What's the philosophy
for you behind why you like to go that direction
that heavy with pistol shotgun as opposed to maybe a
little bit more under center.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah, I think, you know, there's a lot of different
things that come into play. But I think with Jayden
starting off comfort level more than anything, you know, we
want to take a little offense to what he is
used to comfortable with and does the best. But you've
seen certain teams have a lot of success under center.
A lot of teams have had success in shotguns, So
I don't think there's a right or wrong. I think
it's you know, playing to your personnel and maximizing what
(05:53):
you want to do offensively.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Welcome to Spain, goat Thanks, you are the way team.
But the game is here in Madrid kind of an
outal field. Do you think that Atli could help you
or it doesn't really mother or yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I think it's a good change of scenery for us,
you know, going through the last month that we had,
I think just to come together as a team on
the road, playing a new city, an awesome environment that'll
be revved up, I think that'll be really good for us. Thanks, Hi, coach.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Are you looking ahead of playing at ball?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Yeah, I'm actually a big, big soccer fan, so really
excited about that. To play where you know Mbappe and
Cristiano played will be pretty special for me personally, and
then I know our team's excited about it as well.
Speaker 7 (06:46):
Clif there's a pretty cool story with Burke's coming back
and you guys finding a role for him, then he
gets hurt. How difficult the receiver positions obviously been up
and down all year, but then when you think you're
starting to develop somebody he goes down. How difficult has
all of that been?
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, it's been a challenge, there's no doubt, especially when
you have a guy like Trey who had worked really
hard to rehab from an injury to get his opportunity
to make some plays and kind of develop with us.
To have a setback, but he'll be back and just
allows other guys to get a chance. And so far,
like I said, guys have stepped up when caught upon.
We just have to be more consistent as a complete
(07:20):
offense to make the plays when they count. Thank y'all.
