Speaker 1 (00:00):
Over, but uh you for coming and uh welcome to
Josh's family. This is this is a really really cool night. Really,
today is another great day for the Commander's Organization. Uh
really just just really so pumped to be adding Josh
and his family to to our family. And really, we

(00:22):
got an incredible football player. And I think you guys
all know that, but I think we got an even
better young man. And that's just just the truth. It's
really really cool to get a person and a player
of his caliber and to where we picked. It's I
just couldn't be more thrilled. So really, Josh and bodies
what we look for in a commander in every single way,

(00:44):
and we're really thrilled to add you to the brotherhood, buddy.
And so I'll be short and sweet, but on behalf
of Josh Harris and the entire Commander's Organization, I want
to be able to introduce Josh Connolly Jr.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
To the family.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
What a right open it up to questions.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Josh, first and foremost, welcome to Washington. If you can
at all kind of sum up with these last eighteen
hours have been like and has it truly sunk in
yet that you are an NFL player.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, I mean, I definitely I feel like it hit
me a little bit on the plane here, and I
mean the last eighteen hours have been really surreal. But
I've been enjoying it all with my family, you know
what I mean. That's what means the most of me.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
So well, we've heard a lot about you, not only
your playing abilities, but who you are as a person.
What do you think is the one thing you want
the Washington community, the DMV to know about you.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
I'm just here to win and that's the goal and
that's what that's why I came here to do.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Hey, Josh sam Fortier with the Washington Post, Welcome to Washington.
What over these last eighteen hours, do you think it's
going to stick with you that you'll look back on,
you know, from being drafted?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, I mean really just having all these people right
here in the front row with me and everybody else.
I was at my draft party and like all my
coaches that were with me, and this family that has
been along the whole ride, you know what I mean.
So I feel like just met with the family, it
is probably what's most important to me. And shoot, the

(02:24):
flight here was pretty insane. I feel like a lot
of us never been on a private jet before. So
that was pretty That was pretty cool. So yeah, can
you tell us about some of the people you got
with here with you and how to help you get here?

Speaker 5 (02:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I got my dad and my mom here, both my cousins,
my sisters, my brother, stepmom, you know what I mean,
And they've all poured into me in lots of different ways.
I feel like my dad and my mom have poured
into me the absolute most in anybody. Just the amount
of sacrifice over the years and them coming to all

(02:59):
my game games, and you know that's what I do
it for, you know what I mean. My baby, my
babies aren't here, but you know they're big. They're a
huge part of me too. And you know this is
my wife right here.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
So Josh se wondered from the Associated Press, congratulations. The
Commander's posted video showing there's a letter that Cliff Kingsbury
wrote to Adam Peters saying to take you in the
first round. What does it mean to have that support
from Cliff and from the entire coaching staff.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, I mean, it obviously makes me feel really great
that you have people that believe in you. I feel
like when you have people that believe in you, you
just you do whatever for them, you know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
So, yeah, Josh, welcome to d C. Lake Lewis from
my CBS six television. You're coming to a team that's ascending,
that was in the NFC Championship game last year. How
exciting is it for you to be coming to a
team that has Super Bowl aspirations?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Right? And that's and that's the goal, you know what
I mean, that's the next step. And I'm glad that
I'm here and able to to propel us to that,
you know what I mean. And I come from winning
only a lot of six games and Oregon in three years,
but you know that losing four, you know what I mean?
So all game here to do is win.

Speaker 8 (04:15):
Hey, Josh, Dona Hopkins Pro Football Plus, welcome to Washington.
Could you talk a little bit about They talked about
your pro routine approach to the game and everything. Could
you talk about just how that started in just that
process for you that you're already ahead of the game.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, I feel like it really happened. Like my first
couple of months in college. It's kind of lost as
a freshman and didn't really know like what to do.
So I just really leaned on some of the older
guys like Alex Forsyth and Stephen Jones that they just did.
They did a lot of things for their body in
terms of like rehab and staying in the film room

(04:54):
extra and those little things added up to make me wily.

Speaker 9 (04:59):
Am.

Speaker 8 (05:00):
You talked a little bit about people pouring into you
as far as your parents, But who hell else has
poured into you that you want to shout out at
this time, be it your teammates or whoever.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
It may be, all right, say Marcus Abbott. He took
me in and showed me how to play offensive line,
and without him, I wouldn't be here, you know what
I mean? And from from that first training session onto
my last, my last training session my senior year of

(05:33):
high school, that's what That's what it took for me
to get to organ and only gone up from there.

Speaker 9 (05:40):
So Hey there, Josh, welcome to Washington. I guess it's
the other Washington. Yeah for you all, Candy Candy go
off from Blue TV.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
I forgot think I forgot to say that.

Speaker 9 (05:51):
But how would you describe your games? And when you
step out onto the field, what's the kind of energy
that you bring.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Right, I'll say, I'm cool, calm and collected, but like
there's like a snap, like once the ball, once the
ball snap, Like you know, it's a totally different, totally
different thing, you know what I mean. I feel like
you have to approach the line very cool, calm and collected,
clear headed, and then so when once that ball snap,
you just going, you know what I mean? But I

(06:20):
mean to describe my style, I guess, Like I guess,
it's just just go.

Speaker 9 (06:27):
And you were voted the top offensive lineman at the
Singer Bowl by the defensive linemen and linebackers.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
So how did that make.

Speaker 9 (06:36):
You feel that your opponents thought so highly of you?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
I mean, it felt really good because I had a
pretty up and down week there, you know what I mean. So,
I mean for them to think the highly of me
with me not even having my best week, it really
meant a lot.

Speaker 10 (06:52):
Hi, Josh Nick jep All over the Washington Post. What
was it like getting the call?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Unreally? You know what I mean. It's just the stuff
you see on TV and stuff you see growing up.
I mean, it was just like how it was growing up,
I guess. But life changing.

Speaker 10 (07:09):
Have you heard from any current commanders and just what
are your thoughts on playing, you know, on the same
line as Laramie Tounzel annoying they traded for him earlier.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Yeah, I mean, I actually got a FaceTime from every
Time we last night, and I missed it because the
celebration is like right after. So but I also got
to talk to Jane Daniels pretty like I don't know
what was that like twenty minutes ago maybe, and that
was pretty cool. So nice to get to meet him.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
So, hey, Josh, congratulations. I'm JP Finley with NBC four
and one of six to seventh the Fan. I don't
know if you saw this, because I know it's been
a whirlwind the last twenty four hours, but apparently Cliff
Kingsbury left a note for Adam Peters to take you.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Have you seen that and how did that make you feel?
I mean, I think it was a pretty good note,
to say the least. But yeah, man, it just really
felt good to know that the person that's gonna be
calm players really had a really good belief in me
before anything even started, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
And I don't know how much of it you've gotten
to watch, but just the offense, they run, there's a
lot of movement for the old line. Is that an
area you really think you can thrive in with your athleticism.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, I mean that's that's what I do.

Speaker 5 (08:24):
Thanks.

Speaker 11 (08:28):
Hey, Josh Benn standing with the athletic congratulations. I know
you were a pretty big recruit going into Oregon, but
you mentioned how your freshman year you were trying to
figure things out. What for you in college? Was there
a moment you're like, you know what, I think I
can get to the level that you're at right now.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, I mean I feel like that didn't necessarily hit
me in college. I feel like it hit me in
high school once I got started getting my first office
and stuff like that, because I was like, if I
can get to college, then you know, that'll only give
me here.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
So John kind for me, ESPN Are there what tackles
are their tackles that you like to study and maybe
have kind of taken from their game and what have
you learned from some of the players that you've looked at.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Yeah, I mean I like to watch, like Rashaun Slater
kind of grew up in like this tackle life, watching
Laramie Tunsel and Terren Smith. Those were like two guys
that I watch a lot, and I really watched a
lot of their past protection stuff because that was something
I didn't necessarily understand a whole lot. So I feel

(09:30):
like watching them really help me help my understanding and
how it works and how to approach different people.
