Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, Jaden, So I'm just curious for you, how
different do you feel coming into this time of the
year compared to last year even the end of the year.
Where do you feel like maybe you've even taken a
step in the off season.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
I just think just another year in the system that
helps out a lot. Just familiarity with the coaching staff
and you know the system, how Cliff calls plays. So
that's probably the biggest comfort thing, whether than that's still
trying to navigate my first offseason.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And then they go out and they get Laramie, Deebo,
Josh Connolly. What was your reaction to those moves? And
especially like you got like Deebo, who's you know, you
can have a lot of connection.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I mean obviously excited when you're able to get players
like that that have been producing this league for some time.
So I was most definitely excited. I was excited to
get to work with them.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Hey, Jacing, couldn't see how was it navigating this offseason
coming off the year that you had.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I mean it was it was It was fun just
to you know, sit back and reflect and you know,
figure out how I'm a move throughout this off seas
In and move forward. But other than that, you know,
just living life, still working and training.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
And uh, the internet had a lot has a lot
of questions about whether you've gotten a little stronger or
poked up a little bit? What was that part of
the off season is to try to work on getting
a little bit bigger or and if so, what do
you do?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I was just in the weight room, just working out.
You know, you're always trying to improve in different areas.
But I don't know what to say about that. Let
the people talk about it.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Jid.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
For a guy like you that is just so focused
on football all the time, do you do you have
to force yourself to unplug a little in the off season?
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Uh? Yeah, I think I did.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Obviously you want to get back to it after you
know how the season ended. But it's good for you
to to kind of, you know, unplug and find different
ventures and you know, live a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Cliff talked about how this year it's different. It's not
as much implementation of a playbook. Now you guys know
the playbook, So what are you kind of focused on
in this set of OTAs? That's a lot different than
it would have been last year.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Getting on the same page with the with the guys. Uh,
there's some guys that played with me last year, some
new guys, So trying to get them up to speed
and uh teach them how I see through my lenses?
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Clip said this was a hunger group.
Speaker 7 (02:22):
You kind of mentioned it, but how it like, how
is the culture from year one to or two?
Speaker 6 (02:26):
If things carried over or you know, the NFC Championship
left the surtation mouth like, what is the feeling of
this squad in May?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah? I think it's amaze.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
The standards said, you know, you got the core guys
that set the standard, and you know we got those
guys back. So we're bringing the new people and you
know we're holding them to that standard. But we know, uh,
everything's not gonna be given to us. We got to
go out there and earn it each and every day.
Speaker 6 (02:51):
And you mentioned second year with the same system, same coordinator.
What does that do for a quarterback in terms of
the muscle memory of knowing that you have the same
offense and you don't have to learn a whole new.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I mean the main thing is being comfortable, like I said,
familiar with the with the play car, familiar how you
call plays and you know what we're trying to accomplish
playing the playoff.
Speaker 8 (03:11):
Sorry to go back to this, but was there any
concerted effort on your part to try to put a
more muscle in the off season?
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Nah, I was just working out.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
It wasn't like I need to eat this smile much
and it was just go out there, have a plan,
and you know, naturally just put.
Speaker 8 (03:29):
On weight and having a full off season, not doing
draft prep and all that other stuff. How much does
that change things for you? How does it help you?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I mean you just had so much time and you know,
freedom to kind of do what you want. So it's
difficult trying to navigate that. But you lean on people
closest to you, and obviously you know you got to
keep the end go online, and you know you're trying
to get better each and every day, and you know
you're trying to progress each and every season, each and
every month.
Speaker 9 (03:57):
And snap, what are some of those things that you
want Debo to see you through your lens or others?
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
I think that's a conversation between me and him. Can't
really give out too many secrets. So I mean, just
you know how I see how I see different coverages.
Speaker 9 (04:12):
And stuff like that, and for you and Cliff, obviously
he was pretty collaborative last year. I guess, what are
some of the things that you can do to grow
in your relationship and grow in the offense.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Just transparency and stuff like that. This is what I
was comfortable with, this is what he likes, and you know,
how can we find a middle ground to obviously expand
you know, the playbook and still have our core plays.
Speaker 10 (04:37):
Hey, Jaden, just one from me for you today. I
just wanted to ask you how you were doing. And
you know, we all know that you lost a close friend.
Can't relate to this off season, So just how are you.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
I'm good.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Tough little situation obviously, somebody close to me and you know,
mental health was real so but I do appreciate you asking, But.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
I'm good.
Speaker 11 (04:58):
Anybody anywhere. Time was the mantra that was on the walls,
you know when we left last season, coming back and
seeing all the primetime games and you just wanted to
be on the spilight. How excited are you when you
see the scheduling to know that there's going to be
so many opportunities for this team to be on display.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I think that mantra still still stands. I don't think
we're looking at it as a you know, we're playing
Monday night or Sunday night. We're just looking at it like,
you know, we're playing this opponent this week on a
Sunday on a Monday, doesn't matter if we're playing them
all Tuesday Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Like, we're just going out there and playing football.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
Jin you mentioned you spent a lot of time in
the worker room or in the in the gym working out.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
How good did it feel today to get back on
the field, put a helmet on, and throw some football
to your new teammates.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I mean, I love football, so it's very refreshing to
go out there and you know, practice.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
And have fun.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Jade, in the additions to the offensive line, connor Lee
Tunsel as a quarterback, what does that do for you
to what was your reaction to see kind of the
upgrades and the old line and how does that help
you as a quarterback?
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Yeah, I mean those are good additions that we brought in.
And obviously with Adam and his his side of the
building is doing. You know, you gotta trust on with
everything that's going on. So obviously I'm side of those
two great individuals, and we got even more that they
brought in. So I'm excited to, you know, get to
work with them and still progress and you know, get
ready for camp.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
With your success last year, you know, your popularity is
skyrocketing across the NFL, and you're doing a great job
of remaining grounded and not kind of getting caught up,
you know, with the outside stuff. How do you do that? Like,
is that a challenge of just trying to like put
the blinders on in a sense?
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I mean, I've never been the type of individual that
I could say it looks for fame. You know, I'm
a very introverted individual. So I just go out there
and live my life.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I live it.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I don't really go too many places. I didn't before that,
so though, I don't think that's gonna change.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
For me either.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
Jaden, a year ago, you were one of the top
picks obviously in the draft. It was a ton of hope,
but a ton of potential for you. Now coming into
year two, you are widely considered one of the top quarterbacks,
if not the best players in the league. How does
that adjust your mentality as you come into this year.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I don't think it does I just think I got
to go out there and prove myself each and every day,
like no matter if it was last season, this season,
or you know, twenty ten, twenty years down the road,
you gotta prove yourself each and every season.
Speaker 7 (07:32):
And kind of down along the same lines, this team
a year ago, there warn't a ton of expectations for
the team. Nowadays, again around the national media, this team
has high hopes. How do you lead this team towards
where you're going?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, I mean outside know this doesn't matter. To go
out there and I say keep proving yourself.
Speaker 12 (07:54):
When the team brings in a bunch of these new receivers,
whether they're rookies or free agents, how do you go
about kind of getting a feel for their game. Do
you go back and watch kind of some of the
stuff that they've that they've done in the past and
and kind of projected to how you're gonna work with them,
or how do you get kind of get to get
to know them.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
I think it's different.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I think like you obviously go go back and you know,
watch the tape, and you get an idea that's what
they're good at this, You know their weaknesses and strengths.
And but I mean all that changes to that doesn't
mean anything until you get a live reps with each
other and you know, see how they move or see
you know, how they run certain routes or how they
catch the football.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
So the live reps are very valuable.
Speaker 12 (08:31):
And there are a lot of players who make jumps
from their first season to second season on the field,
off the field around For yourself as kind of a leader,
obviously being the quarterback, how do you see kind of
your leadership role expanding as you go into the second
season or how do you attack leadership? I guess as
you go into the second.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Season, continue to be myself.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Me and Terry got a good relationship outside of football,
so you know, obviously gotta handle he has handled and
you know, but that doesn't change anything in the fact
that you know he's part of our brotherhood. Uh, you know,
we know Terry's working and everything. So we got to
get better and he knows you got to get better
each and every day.
