Andrea Burks is a Mental Health Advocate, HOPE JAR Community Leader, Empowerment Strategist, Author of Healing Though Vulnerability Journal, Public Speaker, and so much more. She drops by to open up about her childhood while growing up in the city of Detroit, showing signs of depression and anxiety during senior year of high school, and her first suicide attempt at age of 18 during her freshman year in college. Andrea has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Complicated Grief, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder due to the traumatic events she's experienced throughout her life as well as the multiple deaths of close relatives over the last 7 years. Despite the adversity, she still manages to practice transparency and vulnerability when sharing challenges of her struggles with mental health. Andrea helps women find the strength to overcome their obstacles by providing them with tools that have helped her along her journey. Helping to save others while saving herself has been the ultimate goal. The amount of strength Andrea exudes during this conversation will certainly inspire you and give you hope!
