Joi stops by to talk about growing up in Detroit, the impact her parents have had on her life, her wide-ranging yet exciting job history during her early adult years which speaks to her unmatched work ethic today, her collegiate experience, and so much more. Joi was awarded a full two-year academic scholarship from Jackson State University and graduated at the top of her class (Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA) with a bachelors in Human Resource Management; did I mention it only took her 1 year to finish the 2 year program, while raising a small child and working a part-time job? Joi relocated to Atlanta and hasn't looked back since. She has worked as a freelance writer with several reputable publications, including a six year stint with Blavity. She's made a name for herself as a prolific content creator and social media marketer with over 2 million views on reels under her belt. Joi has quickly ascended during her career in Corporate Communications and is considered a "Go-to Person" in the field. She created a t-shirt design for a laugh event that was used for national celebrities with Atlanta roots such as Jermaine Dupri, Monica, Lil Jon, T.I., Kandi Burruss of Xscape, and Woody McClain. She credits her daughter for being her biggest cheerleader and motivator. Joi also credits the city of Detroit for creating her work ethic and Atlanta for providing her the opportunities to show it off.
